I did completely forget to post i apologize
This series can take completely random characters and in just a few panels/lines get me fully invested in there stories and lives.
There are so many examples of this
Tachihara: No one really cared about this guy at first, a lot of people (myself included) even got him confused with Tanizaki, he was the definition of forgettable.
Then boom, they reveal that not only is he a traitor, but he is also struggling with his identity and finding a place to truly belong, this inner conflict making him feel way more human and making him a fan favourite.
Rimbaud: During 'Dazai Chuuya 15' I just thought Rimbaud was a typical " I have to kill you for power and I'm evil bad guy" and I never thought I'd end up liking him.
But then in 'Stormbringer' with less then 10 pages worth of story, He was transformed into an incredibly tragic figure who desperately wanted save his partner from the pit of despair and loneliness he was falling into; but couldn't, and in the end had to give up his humanity to prove that he really loved him. and suddenly I'm crying over him.
Aya: When she was introduced I just thought she was purely motivation for Kunikida, she was kind of annoying and seemed like a very one off character.
But then they bring her back as one of the most important characters in the current conflict, and are showing us her backstory. which is a horrifyingly realistic case of child abuse, and a parent who loves the memory of his wife and daughter more then the real daughter still Infront of him. And now I just want to hug her and tell her that she is perfect the way she is.
There are loads more so here some rapid fire.
Higuchi: Wan gives her the chance to fully embrace the #girlfail lifestyle she has in the show, which made me like her a lot more
Gin: Seeing her have a life outside of the mafia, and that not taking away from how terrifying and competent she is as an assassin, expands her character and humanises the Port Mafia as a whole.
Bram: Not just making him "I am the lord of darkness, who just wants to consume the whole world and destroy everything because evil"
But instead making him feel like as much of a victim as the agency in The Decays plot and letting him want a radio so he can listen to music.
There are loads more but you get the picture.
So if you ever feel like a character was completely waisted, or that they never had a satisfying arc, just give it time and have faith in Asagiri.
He takes his time sometimes but keeps surpassing my expectations.
Characters Im excited for in the future:
Margret Mitchell.
Agatha Christy.
Alexander Pushkin.
Q
Quick reminder as we head into Trump’s first week in office. We are about to see an onslaught of executive actions designed to strip of us our rights. We’ve seen this before.
Many of them won’t be legal, many of them won’t take effect immediately, and some of them will be just plain nonsense. Trump alone can’t change the law (yet anyway- that’s Congress) and there is an official government process for enacting most executive actions that works slowly.*
There will be time to fight against these orders—either by stopping them entirely, weakening them, or at least slowing them down.
The purpose of doing so many terrible things at once is to scare us. Is to intimidate us to cede more ground than we need to. Don’t let them.
Stay engaged, stay angry, stay hopeful (or spiteful- me tbh), and—most importantly—stay strategic. Find an organization you trust, follow them, and take action when they ask you to.
(Side note- pick just a few issues to care deeply about and only follow a few organizations you trust. Don’t try to solve everything all the time or consume every piece of news. You WILL burn yourself out and that’s not helpful for anyone. Trust me, speaking from experience. Staying 15% engaged is better than 120% for three months and then 0%).
What we’re seeing right now is a backlash to decades of progress—a dying (and by extension dangerous I’m not gonna lie) breath of those in power desperate to maintain control. They wouldn’t be trying to squash us if there wasn’t something to squash.
TL;DR- there’s gonna be a lot of bad stuff in the news today. Don’t give into panic. There will be time to fight most of it. Stay engaged.
*Unfortunately, there will be some actions the President can control on his own and will take effect immediately. ICE Raids being one of them. Here’s a Know Your Rights factsheet. Late. Late. Late. Meta on the newest Bungo Stray Dogs chapter. Dostoevsky easily turning around Dazai’s death trap and then setting each up a death trap Dazai is a twist that many people saw coming. In honesty Dazai and Dos-kun have a relationship much like L and Light Yagami where they are constantly one upping each other and going “I planned this all along…” and then “No, you fool! I knew what you were planning, and I planned this!” It’s even likely that Dazai is probably going to turn the tables on Dostoevsky and set yet another death trap for him.
However, this quote in the chapter caught a lot of people’s eyes, especially fans of the Soukoku dynamic. Dostoevsky blames Dazai’s failure to kill him on the shallowness of the bond between Dazai and Chuuya. A lot of people are predicting that Dostoevsky is underesimtating the depth of their bond and that’s what is going to make them lose, and others think Dostoevsky is right on the money.
My thoughts are under the cut.

teenage chuuya and dazai who accidentally developed quite a couple of inside jokes over the course of their partnership, and one day just have the most horrid case of giggles while on a mission.
the setting is all intense and they’re doing what double black usually does—dazai being the brains and chuuya mainly being the one kicking ass. but then something happens that triggers one of chuuya and dazai’s inside jokes in dazai’s mind and he slowly starts to lose it.
he whispers it to chuuya as they’re setting up their trap, who at first hisses at him to shut up and focus up, but then the joke processes in his mind and he involuntarily starts to smile and tremble.
dazai brings up the joke again in combat as he knocks out one of the men he’s fighting, close to hysterics over it even though it’s probably one of the most unfunny and nonsensical jokes they have. he’s hunched over and his body is shaking, and another enemy uses his moment of vulnerability to go and strike him from behind. chuuya quickly takes the enemy out. he screams at dazai to focus up yet again.
but the louder dazai’s laughter gets, the harder it is for chuuya to suppress his own. his face slowly starts to turn red, not from the physical activity, but from how fucking stupid the joke is and how that’s exactly why chuuya is on the verge of going ballistic over it like dazai.
they’re both out of breath by the time they finish fighting, a couple of new scars littered on their skin, bruises already forming on their knees from the particularly gruelling mission, and dazai brings up the joke one final time in a hushed voice, covered in grime and blood and ick. and chuuya, who looks identical, practically shouts in laughter, sending them into a full blown fit that has them clutching their chests and stomachs. they stumble forward and backward and inhale sharply only to immediately burst out laughing again when they look at each others faces, which read the inside joke they’re both thinking. they don’t account the moment in their mission report, but hirotsu certainly does in his.
