I’m Seeing A Lot Of People Reblogging Suicide Hotlines And This Is Just A Reminder That This Is A Suicide

i’m seeing a lot of people reblogging suicide hotlines and this is just a reminder that this is a suicide help line that works like a text-based instant messenger for people who may need to talk to someone but have trouble/are uncomfortable making phone calls

TEENAGER (4’x5’) Acrylic On Masonite

TEENAGER (4’x5’) acrylic on Masonite

“I steer clear from graveyards, they are cliche in my death obsessed generation.” -CSH

I was thinking about how strange it is that we decorate our graves with a depiction of the tool that killed Christ. Wouldn’t it be funny if we decorated our graves with depictions of the tools that killed us, and instead of graveyards filled with crosses, we’d have graveyards filled with pill bottles, firearms, machetes, baggies of cocaine, rabid foxes, and swollen feet. I think that would be funny. Or do we put crosses on our graves to show that we are overcoming our deaths like Christ? Now that’s just silly. What if it’s just a marketing scheme for church, like an ad? That one I might believe.

The Arcade Queen Pt. 2 (Billy Hargrove X Reader)

It didn’t take me too long to think of a whole bunch of ideas for this series, and this was the one I thought was fitting for the 2nd part! I promise as this continues there is going to be more involvement with Billy!

Also a note; If you didn’t already guess, this is set a little ways into Season 2.

Summary: A few days after your first encounter with Billy Hargrove, Max asks you to help him out, together the two of you successfully break your car, nearly wake the neighbors and you manage to break down a couple of Billy’s emotional walls.

Part 1

The Arcade Queen Pt. 2 (Billy Hargrove X Reader)

The next couple of nights you had off from the Arcade. It gave you a chance to catch up on homework, spend some time with your family, and dream about a certain Camaro driving boy.

But time flies especially when your busy daydreaming, and soon enough it was time for your next shift at The Palace. Unfortunately, it was another late closing shift. Packing your bag once more with perfume in case of emergencies, you grabbed a jacket and drove off to work.

The night had gone by quick, with you spending most of the time in the back taking inventory and unpacking new prizes, leaving Keith to work the front of the arcade. Roughly half an hour to the end of your shift, Keith popped his head into the back asking you to come out to the front.

You finished putting the empty boxes by the recycling bins and stepped out into the front.

“What do you need?” You asked walking over to your co-worker standing behind the counter.

“Little Red is out on the bench looking for you,” Keith replied.

Out into the chill of the Hawkins air, you felt a sense of déjà vu, you walked around the corner of The Palace, finding a certain red-haired girl sitting on the bench.

“Max? What are you doing here?” You called out to her, moving to sit beside the younger girl. You noticed the small shakes of her shoulders, and how her hair was currently hiding her face away from your view, but you knew none-the-less the girl was clearly upset.

“Hey, it’s okay…” You said softly, wrapping an arm around her. Max gave a soft hiccup before her shoulders began to shake harder. “You can talk to me, you know that right?”

You saw her head give a small nod, but you didn’t press further, waiting for her to open up to you, not wanting to push her away more.

“I got Billy in trouble.” She finally spoke, her voice wavering as she sucked some air in between silent sobs.

“Big trouble,” She quickly added, “I’ve never seen his dad so mad at him…ever!”

“Okay, alright…and then what?” You asked, urging her to keep going.

“His Dad and him got in a fight…a big fight, he hurt Billy and then he left, dad did, And Billy was really upset, and he left and drove off, and I panicked…” Max looked at you finally, her eyes leaking tears, red and puffy. “He shouldn’t be driving, I mean he’s really upset…so I ran off and I didn’t know where to go or who to go to and I figured that you would be here, so I came here.”

It was a lot to process at once, let alone for Max to experience it, but you sat quietly piecing her story together slowly in your mind once more.

“Okay, it’s alright.” You said, rubbing her back, “No more tears.”

“So, your dad hurt Billy,” You started, seeing her nod quickly, “Okay and then they both left, and now Billy’s out driving around Hawkins?”

“Yes!” Max said.

“Okay, what about your mom Max? Where’s she?” You asked.

“Out of town, she went to visit a friend for the week, I thought that his dad wouldn’t get mad if he had to watch out for me, but it’s never been this bad! I’m worried about him!” Max said, fresh tears beginning to well in her eyes.

You took a deep breath, letting it out slowly as you thought about the next steps in your head, you would have to take care of Max until you found Billy, and even then, you were positively sure you weren’t going to let either of them go back home tonight, not after what Max had shared with you…so the only thing to do next…

“Alright Max, we’ll go look for Billy, together…that sound good?” You gave the girl a reassuring smile, watching her expression change to relief.

You grabbed your bag and keys from The Palace, and after bargaining that you would clean the arcade for your next week’s worth of shifts, you left work early, entrusting Keith to lock up for the night.

And here you were, about an hour later driving around Hawkins, looking for any sign of Billy Hargrove or his Camaro. You had already driven by their house twice, in case he had returned, along with some frequent party locations, now you were just skimming some of the lesser roads of Hawkins.

Max had stopped crying but had been silent since the two of you had begun your search for her step-brother.

“So…this happens often?” You asked, breaking the silence, “With your dad and Billy?”

The girl in the passenger seat gave a small nod.

“And, does he always…hurt Billy?” You questioned.

Another nod.

You made a left turn, turning down a road lined with houses lined up on either side.

“Hey, he doesn’t…” You trailed off, not wanting to even ask this question.

“No. He’s never hurt me.” She answered, clearly understanding the nature of your question.

You both lapsed into another period of silence, checking out the driveways and anybody walking on the sidewalks as you made another turn, right this time.

However, shortly after your turn, your car gave a weird little sputter, a sharp little cough, and a horrible shake before ultimately shutting itself off leaving you to ease it over to the side of the road before it stopped entirely.

“That’s not supposed to happen.” Max chimed in from the passenger seat. You, on the other hand, let out a long groan at the timing of the entire situation.

You attempted to turn the key once more, hearing it turn over a few times before giving another sputter, this time a little steam rising up from under the hood.

You and Max got out together, her standing back a couple feet away from you as you lifted the hood up, waving your hand through the white steam flowing up from your engine.

“Yup. It’s dead.” You surmised. Max moved up next to you.

“What’s wrong with it?” She asked. You gave a sarcastic shrug of your shoulders.

“Your guess is good as mine kiddo. I’m not a mechanic. I use the equipment, I don’t fix the equipment.” You replied, shutting the hood down and leaning your back against it.

“So now what?” Max asked, moving once more to lean against the hood with you.

“No clue.” You said, raising your wrist to look at your watch. “It’s a little past midnight, and I don’t think that anybody around is going to be very cooperative helping out two kids in the middle of the night. How far away is your house.”

It took Max a minute to retrace the last route you had taken from her house.

“Probably 20 minutes driving. We’re practically on the other side of town from my house” She replied. “What about you?”

“Couple of blocks from the last corner we took” You replied. “Guess you’re staying over at my place tonight.”

Thus, the two of you began your walk of shame, you giving your jacket to Max who once again had left her’s behind.

“I hope Billy’s okay.” Max said, “He’s so…mean but he said something the other day and it just kind of stuck. We might not like it, but we’re family…I don’t want to see him hurt.”

“I know Kiddo.” You said, not finding the right words to admit your own guilt in not being able to help him.

It felt like an hour had past when you finally made it to your house and had shoved your key into the door when the two of you heard the familiar purr of a certain Camaro coming up the road.

Max and you looked to each other, and then to the road before you both made a mad dash to the sidewalk for Max, and you not even thinking twice into the road.

Headlight’s danced in your eyes, as you heard Billy’s brakes squeal into the night, the two of you screaming for him to stop, not caring about the late hour or your neighbor’s sleeping.

Your hand touched the hood of his Camero as you and Max made your way to the driver’s side.

“Billy thank god!” You cried out, “We’ve been looking for you all night.”

Billy, on the other hand, had a mixed look of confusion, anger, and fear as he looked between you and Max, his cheek had a hint of discoloring on it in the dark, and you knew in the light it would be quite a shiner. His lip was also split, dried blood caked to it and trail of blood that had flowed down his chin.

                                                       ***

It took some convincing, but you had managed to get Billy to pull into your driveway, and you and Max had told him everything that had happened, from Max running to finding you, your car breaking down.

You set Max up in your guest bedroom finding some of your old pajama’s and closing the door behind you as you said goodnight to her, before you returned to Billy, grabbing a clean towel and some ice.

Now the two of you sat in silence upon your sofa, him staring anywheres except you, while you gently wiped down the blood and patched him up, holding an icepack to his cheek.

“I’m sorry.” You whispered, Billy, wincing as you wiped away more dried blood.

He stayed silent.

“You know if you ever need to talk-”

“Talk!?” He suddenly exclaimed, making you jump at the loud tone. “You want me to talk to you about my daddy issues?”

“Billy, that’s not what I meant-” You tried to cut in, but your words had already ignited the fire within.

“You want me to tell you about everything…about how much I hate this stupid town, and how much I hate my old man for having me be the personal babysitter for a 13-year-old, who should be able to go out and do what she wants instead of being stuck with a piece of shit like me? How about the fact, that I’ve tried to hide for so long so that no one would ever see or know what happened with me and my father!” Billy slammed a hand down upon the coffee table in front of you as he stood, making you jump again.

“Billy-” You started, but he cut you off once more. His mouth opened once, before it shut itself, wordless as you saw a tear slip out from his eye as he turned away.

You had no words to say, so you stood up and lightly slipped your arms around his waist, hugging him softly from behind. One of his hands rose up to lay over yours, and you could feel him shaking.

“Billy. I don’t know what any of that is like, to have your father roughing you up all the time…but you can’t say that about yourself, your probably the only thing standing in between your father and Max, your protecting her…and it’s not fair that your getting hurt, but your doing it for her…” You laid your cheek upon his back, as you felt him take in shuddering breaths.

“I just want her safe. And I’ve spent all this time pushing her away because I’m afraid that I’ll act just like my dad, but the entire time the only person I have acted like is my dad. I can’t fix this, Y/N.” Billy spoke, his voice laced with honesty.

“It’s never too late to fix your relationship with your sister Billy. She was so worried about you tonight, she was a wreck, it doesn’t matter what you’ve done, what matters now is what you can do to be better.” You said.

“And if you ever need a place to stay, my door will always be open for you. Both of you, I can help you, but you have to let me help.” You said as Billy turned around looking down at you.

He gave a small nod, and you gave him a warm smile.

“Good, now help me with the pull-out, Max gets the bed tonight for you worrying her all night.” You teased.

Together, the two of you set up the pull out bed on the couch and you brought down some pillows and blankets.

“Thanks, Y/N.” Billy said, taking a seat on the edge of the makeshift bed, you taking a place next to him

“Anytime. Seriously Hargrove, now get some rest, your driving us to school in the morning since my car died looking for you.” You teased, bumping his shoulder playfully. He gave you a cheesy smile in return, and you couldn’t help but thank that it was the most beautiful thing you’d ever see in your life.

The two of you stared into each other’s eyes, and you could feel your cheeks flush under his gaze.

Feeling your heart pound just like the moment you shoved your phone number into his pocket, you leaned in close and pressed a feather-light kiss to his bruised cheek. As you pulled away, Billy brought a hand up to cup your cheek, with the softest touch, he guided you back, your lips meeting his, before letting you slip away.

If your cheeks were red before, your face was probably a tomato now, and you quickly stood, bouncing a couple of steps away from him before giving him a shy smile.

“Goodnight Billy,” You whispered.

“Goodnight, Y/N” He replied, his eyes following you as you practically skipped in joy to your room, shutting the door behind you. You raised your fingers to your lips and realized that you were, utterly and undeniably in love with Billy Hargrove.

I never knew that I needed this, this adorable story

Family - Dad!Billy Hargrove

Words: 3.550 words (I was really inspired)

Type: Fluff

Summary: You and Billy have two kids and ran away from Hawkins. Neil doesn’t know about them.

Warning: English is not my first language. Sorry if I misspelled something.

(Before someone says something, I don’t believe Billy is racist [since even Dacre himself doesn’t think his comment was made to sound racist] but I do not think that is actions in the show are in any way alright)

Part 1    Part 2

A/N: Gif is not mine :)

Y/D/N - Your daughter’s name

Y/S/N - Your son’s name

You wake up and the sun light hits you right in the face right when you open your eyes. You turn around quickly and hold back a groan. You look over Billy and almost ‘awn’ out loud at the sight.

Your boyfriend, Billy, is sleeping peacefully on his back and your 2 year old daughter is sleeping on his chest, her chubby cheeks pressed on his skin and her parted lips make a way so a little drool falls into Billy.

You brush her curly hair out of her chubby cute face and Y/D/N hums into your touch.

It’s pretty late, but it’s Sunday so nobody is giving fuck about getting up early.

Y/D/N falls back into her deep sleep as you pull away and you look up at Billy. The peaceful look on his face just makes your smile come back.

You two found out that you were pregnant after you were almost graduating. Billy didn’t tell anyone and worked two jobs for a few months so the both of you could have enough money to survive alone. Your family was supportive and didn’t tell anyone either.

You two ended up getting an apartment not too far from Hawkins, since you didn’t have enough money to move to California, as Billy wanted.

Billy’s family think that you just left Hawkins together because you wanted to be independent.

It’s been 2 years since your baby girl was born, and you two now have full-time jobs and a better apartment. But … you two had another kid a half year ago, this time everything went way smoother, since you two didn’t need to stress over not having enough money for food and a place to stay.

YES!!!! I would love more

The Arcade Queen (Billy Hargrove X Reader)

Welp. I fell really hard into Stranger Things, and it resulted in this little fic. Bear with me as I normally don’t write things like this. This is meant to be a Billy Hargrove X Reader, and I might make it into a mini-series if anyone wants me to continue it, this is more like a small drabble and an attempt at writing for Stranger Things. In this fic, the reader is still in school but is the assistant manager for The Palace, the arcade.

Extra: After finishing this I am so sorry for the atrocity you’re about to read.

Summary: Being the assistant Arcade Manager means you have a lot of responsibilities; repairs, cleaning, and closing for the night. However, on this night, you have a small encounter with Billy Hargrove

image

Working at the Palace Arcade had its perks, especially working as the assistant manager. For the most part, you could stay behind the scenes working on paperwork and expenses, ordering in new prizes.

The downside was when your co-worker couldn’t make it in for their closing shift. For 2 hours tonight you had been in charge of anything, from malfunctioning machines to trading in prizes and anything in between, all the while trying to clean up so that you could get out of work shortly after the arcade closed for the night.

Ten minutes to 11:00 you began your warnings to the few remaining players lingering around, trying their hardest to beat previous scores and earn their places. For the most part, people heeded your warnings, finishing the games they departed, hearts filled with sorrows at another failed chance of beating their rivals.

5 minutes to 11:00 and the only people left in the arcade were your regulars, Mike, Dustin, Lucas and Will along with the newcomer, Max.

“You guys have until the bathrooms are cleaned, to finish your games, and go home for the night!” You called to them, hearing them give cheers knowing full well that it would take another 15 minutes.

As you worked on the bathrooms, you could hear excited shouts from the small group you had left in the main part of the arcade, one of them was going above and beyond and by the sounds of it about to beat another high score.

When you finally finished cleaning and returned to the front of the arcade, you were greeted by fanfare and you smiled at the kids standing proudly in front of you.

“Alright, I’ll bite. Who was it this time?” You asked, referring to the happy faces in front of you.

Max shyly cleared her throat.

Despite seeing how confident the girl was in front of her friends, and in front of others…and witnessing the fights she had with her brother both at school and when she was dropped off at the arcade, the girl seemed to shut herself up into a little bundle of nerves when speaking to you.

“Well, congrats for that Max.” You praised the young girl, “We’ll have to think about finding some sort of championship arcade event for you to compete in.”

The boys instantly started echoing your statement, and as you ushered them out the door, you could hear their voices fade away into the night, all of them on their way home.

As you finished your last-minute chores before you too locked up and went home for the night, you heard scuffling from outside.

The events from the past year and the disappearances of Will and Barb had put many on edge, and despite Will being back and the police announcing that there was no reason to worry any longer, you still carried some stuff in your bag just in case of emergencies.

So here you were, all by you’re lonesome, tiptoeing around to look beside the arcade, perfume in one hand and a broom in the other. Right as you went to turn the corner, you heard more scuffling and shifting.

You leapt around the corner, letting out a loud shout as you waved the broom handle and sprayed perfume.

As you opened your eyes, you saw Max, wide-eyed and standing a few feet away from where your broom handle had been whipped around.

“Max!?” You shouted, dropping the broom.

“Uh…hey Y/N.” Max greeted with a shy, nervous wave. Resting a hand over your racing heart you gave a loud sigh.

“God, you gave me a heart attack! What are you still doing here?” You exclaimed, your racing heart calming.

“Uh…no reason, just hanging around!” Max said. “What were you er…doing with the broom…and…?”

She pointed to the perfume bottle clasped tightly in your hand.

“Do you have to clean the parking lot too?” She jested.

“Very funny Maxine.” You teased, picking up the broom handle, “And no. I thought that instead of a kid ‘just hanging around’ That someone or something else might be lingering around. So the perfume was meant to be for whatever was here…thankfully it didn’t get into your eyes.”

“Eyes?” She questioned.

“Yeah? If you were actually in trouble you could spray it into your attackers’ eyes, and it would blind them for a moment, so then you can-”

“Beat them with a broom.” Max finished.

“Well. In this case yes…but your just a kid, so you shouldn’t have to worry about any of that stuff.” You said softly, “But…it still doesn’t explain what you’re still doing here at…11:20. Arcades closed, you all got extra time too.”

Max stood in front of you, her arms crossed and face turned away from you.

“Waiting.” She finally said, however, she said it so quickly you almost missed it.

“Waiting.” You echoed. “For who?”

“My brother,” Max said quickly again.

Seeing that she clearly didn’t want to talk about it, and also seeing that she was without a sweatshirt, and even with one you were shivering from the cold Hawkins air, you finally decided that any chance of you going home early tonight would have to wait.

“Alright, well you can wait for him inside instead of wandering around out here by your self.”

“What?” She said, face snapping to yours, “I thought the arcade was closed.”

“Well I forgot that I had some paperwork to finish and my boss would lose it if I didn’t, so you mise well wait inside with me.”

The two of you made your way back inside and you grabbed some paperwork you had originally left for your next shift from the back.

Max stood with her hands in her pockets, standing by the door, watching as every car, albeit few, passed by the arcade.

“So. Your brother this late all the time?” You spoke to Max.

“Never.” She said softly.

You picked your head up, looking to the younger girl.

“Well, that’s nice…at least not tonight…but it’s awfully nice of Billy to drive you around.” You said, thinking about her older brother. He was in your grade, but the two of you hadn’t really talked, not having any periods together in school.

Max stayed quiet.

“Well, you know I could give you a ride if you want? I don’t mind if you don’t want to keep waiting.”

“I have to wait,” Max said quietly. “Billy will get in trouble if he doesn’t bring me home.”

“Well…alright.” You replied, going back to the paperwork. “Got any quarters left?”

“Huh?”

“I’m just saying if you got any quarters left, you can play a couple rounds of whatever you like. I can keep an eye on the door.”

It took Max a minute, but a little while after your final statement, she wandered away and you heard the familiar noise of a quarter slipping into a machine, and the game come alive.

You kept an eye on the clock, not willing to be here past midnight, you decided that you would just take her home, either way, a little before midnight.

A little after 11:45 you heard the purr of Billy’s Camaro roar into the parking lot. You looked up, seeing Max had once again immersed herself in a game her back turned to you, and she clearly hadn’t heard her brother pull in.

You set your pen down and walked to the door, opening it and taking a step outside, seeing Billy running his hands through his hair as he stepped out, turning every which way clearly searching for his sister.

“Hey, Hargrove.” You called out, hoping to give him a jump, however, he turned around always playing it cool.

“Y/N Right?” He said. “I’m looking for…”

“Max. I know she’s in here finishing up a game…why don’t you come in?” You said, holding the door open. Billy stood by his car for a second, clearly thinking about what you said, and you half expected him to just walk in and drag his sister out, however, he threw out his cigarette and came up to you, stepping into the arcade.

“Don’t worry Hargrove, I won’t tell anyone that you’re hanging around in the arcade.” You teased as you followed behind him. You heard him give a small chuckle in front of you.

“It’s Y/N. Right?” He said, turning around.

“Wow. So Billy Hargrove does know my name.” You laughed, making your way back to the counter to grab the sheets of paper and tuck them in the manager’s office. However, seeing a scrap piece of paper on the desk you grabbed a pen scrawling something quickly and tucking it into your pocket.

Coming back you saw Billy leaning against the counter, his eyes on Max who somehow still hadn’t realized her brother was here.

“She’s a good kid you know.” You said, leaning next to Billy, “And a great gamer. You should find her some sort of championship or something to compete in.”

“Shes a little shit,” Billy said, but the usual angry and rough tone wasn’t with the statement, it sounded lost and distant, a whisper in the woods.

“Well. If you ever need any help with her or need me to give her a ride, I won’t mind. I know she was worried about it when I asked her about it…said you’d get in trouble, but really. If you need anything…I’m typically here” You gestured.

Just as you finished your minor speech, you heard the familiar chimes of ‘Game Over’ with a combined happy shout.

“Hey Y/N! I did it again, I just beat this record!” Max exclaimed, her happy face turning upside down when she caught sight of her brother.

“Billy.” She gulped.

“Alright, little shit. Get in the car.” Billy said. Max wasted no time, giving you a small thank you and departed the arcade.

“Thanks, for watching over her while I was late,” Billy said turning around to leave, and you had a silly grin on your face, hearing the Hargrove give you a genuine thank you.

“Anytime.” You replied. Your heart raced, but you hesitantly called out to Billy once more, his face turning.

You bounded up to him and slipped the paper into his pocket.

“My number, just in case you ever need someone to get Max.” You said.

Billy tucked the paper further into his pocket, in order for it to not slip away and he gave you a cheesy smile.

“Do I have to just use it for Max?” He asked, his voice dropping lower, growing huskier, and your heart was practically visible as it beat out of your chest.

“No, if you ever need me I’ll be there too.” You whispered. Billy’s smile grew larger, and he took your hand in his own, raising it up to his lips to press a kiss to it.

“Good to know, darling.” He chuckled, and like the wind, he slipped out the door, with a soft goodnight.

You stood frozen, shell shocked, heart, beating way too fast to be considered healthy as you heard and saw the Camaro pull away and drive off into the night.

Backing up, you slipped down sitting with your back against the counter, resting your gifted hand over your heart, willing for it to both calm down, yet never stop beating for the handsome Billy Hargrove.

Not a Chance

image

Summary: Billy Hargrove is not going to fall for you. No way. Not a chance…. right? (Billy Hargrove x reader)

Warning: slight profanity

Word Count: 1,740

He told himself he’d never go after you. As soon as he arrived in this shit town he knew he was not good for you. He’d avoid you at every chance, you’d smile at him when you walked pass him in the hall and he’d quickly look away. You’d offer him a pencil in class and he felt himself blush, he’d later cuss himself out for acting like a dumbass.

He’d watch you from across the room, a beaming smile on your face and a skip in your step. You always looked so optimistic and he’d remind himself of how different you two were. That there was no chance in hell you’d ever get together. He’d avoid you forever and that was that.

Of course, the world was not on his side as he’d arrive to work and find out the new trainee was you, of all the people in the world. He chuckled to himself at the irony and apparent fate bestowed upon him.

You showed up with that same old joyful personality and the manager decides Billy will be the one to train you. It wasn’t a surprise since the manager truly was a lazy piece of shit.

FUUUUUUUCCK MAN THIS IS SOME GOOD SHIT

Cold as Ice

Billy Hargrove x Reader

Summary: Billy just doesn’t understand why you’re so cold to him. He becomes desperate to warm you up. But, the killer heat of Hawkins combined with a stupid school project gives him the chance to know what’s truly underneath all that ice.

Warnings: cursing, smut, sExUal tenSion, some angst, some fluff, LOTS OF SIN

A/N: Definitely my filthiest fic at the moment, enjoy!

Cold As Ice

“You’re my partner.”

You look up from the register, hands on your hips as you stare at Billy Hargrove with a blank, unamused expression. There are a few people behind him, arms crossed against their chests - Tommy, Carol, and some other bimbo.

Funnily, you realize that they all resemble a group of poodles.

Cute.

Billy raises his eyebrows at you, smacking his gum as he impatiently awaits for a response. You glance at the folder that he slaps down onto the counter, knowing exactly what it contains.

“Hm, didn’t think you guys were recruiting for the next douchebag of Hawkins High. Are these the applications?” You finally pick up the folder, skimming through the thick pages of paper with a toothy smirk. “To be honest, I consider myself more of a bitch than a douchebag. Isn’t that right, Harrington?”

You chuckle devilishly as you hand Steve a couple dollars, who snickers at the interaction. Billy seems confused, but by the way he clenches his jaw and barely blinks, you can tell you’ve also hit a spot.

“Looks like I’ve won the bet, Y/N. Fuck, yeah! Robin! I told you I would win!” Steve runs into the back room of Scoops Ahoy, waving the dollar bills at his friend.

You turn back to Billy, re-adjusting the hat on your head. “Now, can I get you something, pool boy?” You lean over, hands splayed onto the cool marble of the counter.

“Did you not pick up on what I just said? I’m asking you to be my partner for the project. No, I’m picking you to be my partner.” Billy tries to keep a steady voice, but you easily catch the deep breath he takes between his words. His ‘friends’ are whispering behind him, exchanging dirty looks.

“Well, I’m actually not allowed to have personal conversations with customers right now,” Billy scoffs, tugging his lip between his teeth. “And so, if you aren’t ordering ice cream, then be my guest, and leave. I’ve got a few angry customers to deal with if you can’t tell.” He follows your pointed gaze, and surely enough, the line behind him is fairly long - filled with crying kids and irritated parents. “Come back later? Or never at all?”

Billy groans, pacing in short steps. He knows you’ll come around. They always come around.

You truly are a bitch.

Yet, somehow, Billy waits till the end of your shift to speak with you - hopefully in a more private spot and in a less aggressive manner.

You roll your eyes when you see him, sitting by the table nearest to the register. He seems to be alone, yet it annoys you even more.

“I don’t wanna be your partner, Hargrove. Is that not clear?” Your eyes follow him as he stands up. He’s much taller than you, so you can only send him an intimidating glare in hopes of scaring him away. “Pick someone else. And let me give you a hint - it’s not me.”

Billy inhales deeply, before a small smile forms on his face. He grabs your arm before you can walk away, hoping that he can win you over with his charm. But he knows he has to put away his pride to do so.

“Sweetheart, I really need help with this project. You’re the smartest girl in our class, and if you can’t tell, I hang around a bunch of dumbasses.”

Oh, so this is why he was alone. So he could talk crap about his shitty friends.

Billy continues, smile never wavering. He still has his hand wrapped around your arm, holding you in place as he speaks by your ear. “And anyways, it’s already set in stone. I asked Mrs. Johnson if I could pair up with you. She thought it was a great idea. Guess we’re in this together now, huh?”

He harshly pushes the folder of papers into your chest, letting go of your arm.

“What? You can’t do that!”

But he certainly did do that. Because when you storm into Mrs. Johnson’s classroom on one Monday morning, she’s rambling over how excited she is to have you and Billy working together.

“But Mrs. Johnson, I never agreed to this. How is this fair?” You whine, waving the folder around with wide eyes.

“Miss Y/N, you’ll be doing Billy a huge favor by helping him. He isn’t failing, but he is struggling. He could most definitely use your help.”

Despite all the complaining, Mrs. Johnson doesn’t allow you to pick anyone else. To her convenience, you and Billy are the only ones who haven’t had a designated partner - and now, you really don’t have a choice.

-

The next week, Billy is back in Scoops Ahoy. He can see your snarl from the other side of the mall. He’s got you trapped in cage, and he knows you’re having a hard time trying to adapt to it.

“I knew that he’d pick you.” Steve says through a mouthful of banana, hitting you in the face with its peel. “I mean, you’re the only girl - besides Robin - who hasn’t given into him. He’s probably just trying to cross off your name on his list.”

“He has a list?” You gag dramatically, protesting as Robin pushes you jokingly.

“Dude, Y/N, he’s literally coming over here.” She points at Billy, who actually is coming over.

“I don’t care. Change spots with me. Steve! Robin!” You shout, pulling at the ends of your hair as they run into the back room, locking the door behind them. “Screw you both!”

You turn around, meeting eyes with the damned Billy Hargrove. You fake a smile. If this was a cartoon, steam would certainly be coming out from your ears.

“Bad day?” Billy pouts mockingly at you. His hands rest inside the pockets of his jeans, eyes looking over your angry state. “Should I come back or....”

“Actually, no. But you know what?” You slide yourself over the counter, brushing away at the lint that has accumulated on your blue shorts. “I’m not doing this stupid project alone. You’re staying here till my shift is over. And when it is, you’re gonna drive your ass to my house, where the both of us can work on it. Together. Happy now, douchebag?”

Your breath is almost minty, and somehow feels cool against Billy’s skin. He steps back with a cocky grin, raising his hands as if he were surrending to you.

But he wasn’t surrendering.

“You just gave Team Hargrove one point. But Team Y/L/N? Zero.” Billy snaps with a flash of his pearly whites. He crouches down to your height, hands resting on his thighs. He knows that he is pissing you off. “I’ll see you when you’re done.” Then, you cross your arms at him, nose pointing up as he stands to full height. His eyes flicker down to your lips. “And honestly? I think I’m more of a dick than a douchebag.”

You want to slap the stupid grin of his face. But you don’t. You don’t know the real reason behind it, but you try to convince yourself as to why.

Because it’s against company policy?

Steve and Robin poke their heads out of the other room, coming out when Billy cockily walks away from you. You’re still standing there, eyes narrowed and face drawn into a look of displeasure.

“Should we not bother her?” Steve whispers, elbowing Robin. “I kinda don’t wanna get yelled at right now.”

“No, no, Steve. She’s hotter when she’s angry. Trust me.”

“Guys!” You scoff at them. She laughs at the sudden smile on your face, eyebrows raised in surprise.

“I mean, she’s not wrong, Y/N.” Steve shrugs before taking your place at the register. “You’re pretty hot, I guess.”

“Oh, stop it, Harrington. I’m out of your league.” You wink at him, hopping back over the counter.

You let out an exasperated breath when Robin tells you to sort out the shipments in the back. You push the back door open, groaning audibly when you see the tall stack of cardboard boxes. There’s a clipboard on the table in the middle of the room, and you read over it lazily before you begin to sort through the deliveries.

No one really knows why you despise Billy. Not Steve, not Robin, not anyone. It seems as if you had woke up, saw him, and decided that he was someone you disliked.

That was partly true.

But in detail, you did dislike - or hate, whichever was fitting based on your mood - Billy for a few things.

You never understood his sudden popularity, or the sex appeal he carried along with him. You never understood the hair, the smoking, the people he hung around, or the recklessness and the partying.

You just didn’t get it. You didn’t get why people would waste their time around him, when clearly, he wasn’t grateful for any of it.

Maybe your hatred of him spiraled from insecurity.

He had everything. He was popular and easy on the eyes. He was charming and fun. You’d never admit it out loud, but he truly seemed like a good guy, underneath that whole douchebag act of his.

You were nothing alike. Or so you thought.

-

“Honey! There’s someone here for you!” Your mother calls out from the bottom of the stairs, a slight smirk on her face when she realizes how handsome your guest is. You come barreling down the stairs, feet heavy and frowning deeply when you see who’s sitting on the sofa.

“Billy.”

“Y/N!” He comes to meet you, pulling you into an embrace. Your reaction is one of utter shock, because suddenly, all you can smell is expensive cologne and the faint scent of cigarettes. “Your mother was just asking me if we wanted to join her for lunch.”

“Oh. Uh, thank you, but we have to work on a project, Mom.” You send Billy a look, clearing your throat when you see his lips twitch upwards. “We’ll be upstairs.”

Your mom disappears into the living room, giving you both a second glance and a knowing look as you jog up the stairs.

“How do you know where I live?”

“That little girl from the mall? I think she’s Sinclair’s sister. Bought her some ice cream when I saw it fall, she just returned the favor.”

Erica. Damn it.

“Okay, well, I didn’t think you’d be here so soon.” You complain, running your hands through your hair, damp from a shower. Billy follows you into your bedroom, shutting the door behind him. He takes in the sight, something he wouldn’t expect from someone like you. There are various posters plastered onto your soft pink walls - band posters, movie posters, and he huffs at the one of a shirtless man. There’s a record player on top of your bookcase, where you stand, occupied as you flip through your vinyls. “What’s your cup of tea? Queen? The Beatles? Metallica? Foreigner?”

“I really don’t care.” He scoffs, licking his lips as he takes a seat on your bed.

Foreigner it is, then.

“And I really don’t want you on my bed. Get off, Hargrove.” You throw a paper ball at him, hiding the smile on your face when he doesn’t dodge it in time. “Thought you played basketball. What happened to those reflexes?”

With a dramatic eye roll, Billy tosses the ball into the trash, sliding off of the bed and onto the floor instead. You grab the project folder from your study table, sitting down across from him. You’re reading through the directions when Billy starts to light a cigarette.

And you gasp - really loud. “Billy! No! None of that in here.” You take the cigarette from his lips, his coughs fading in the background as you throw it out your window. “Are you crazy?”

“I just wanted a smoke!”

“Yeah?! Then not in here!” You shake your head at him, handing him a sheet of paper as you calm down. “Your turn to read, asshole.”

Your begins to head become fuzzy as Billy’s fingers brush against yours when he grabs the paper.

He reads, voice soft and surprisingly enthusiastic - if he didn’t act like such a dumbass, you’d think he was somewhat intelligent.

(However, you know he is intelligent - somewhere in that douchebag brain of his - though, that’s one of the things you could never admit to anyone).

The room is suddenly blazing hot, uncomfortably warm despite the numerous open windows. The air conditioning isn’t enough, and you’re silently cursing as you feel sweat build up among your skin. You’re fanning yourself, swallowing as you notice the bead of sweat that rolls down the side of Billy’s forehead.

“God damn, it’s hot.” Billy curses, unable to continue reading with how tight his chest feels. He tugs at the collar of his shirt, hoping he could get some sort of air.

“Our air conditioning sucks.” You push your hair back, “Summer’s coming.”

Billy nods in agreement, picking up from where he had left off.

Maybe it’s just the heat, but suddenly, you start to space out.

Your eyes focus on the rise and fall of Billy’s tan chest, how his skin glows with sweat, and how his muscles flex under that shirt of his.

Oh, wow.

“Y/N? Did you hear me?” You snap out of your trance. “Hope you haven’t passed out.” He sets the paper down, leaning back against your bed frame.

“Huh? Sorry, I - I was distracted.”

Don’t let your guard down.

“I was asking which part you wanted to do.”

“Uh, whichever one is the hardest. I can take it.”

And Billy stops breathing. Maybe because there’s some sort of - sexual - euphemism in that sentence, but also because he’s noticing how flushed you look: cheeks red, skin glistening, breaths heavy. Your hair sticks to your arms, resting on the tops of your knees. But then, he sees this look in your eyes.

It’s not the normal glare he gets. But your eyes are softer, less intense, more - was that longing?

You’re just staring at him, lips slightly parted as your eyes quickly drop down to the floor.

“Unless, um, you want the harder part then you can have it, I guess.” You pipe up, tucking a strand of hair behind your ear. You’re avoiding his gaze, and Billy isn’t sure that he recognizes this Y/N.

Did he win you over yet? That easily?

“Here, you can look over it with me again.” Billy scoots beside you, his denim-clad thigh pressed up against your bare one. His breaths are even, blowing over your hands as you hold up the paper. “I was thinking I could do the research on the biographical context and symbolism, and...” He glances over to you, eyes trailing over the expanse of your neck. Your jaw is tightly clenched, but you don’t meet his stare. “... and then, maybe you could do the overall analysis. Or we could do it differently, if this way doesn’t meet your standards, princess.” His voice is low, a sultry tone laced subtly in his words. He peeks his tongue out to lick his lips, and you look over at that exact moment.

Aw, shit. You wouldn’t give up that easily, would you?

He’s not the only one that can play this game.

“No, I like your idea. We can do that.” You turn to him, hair slightly hitting him in the face. You pucker your bottom lip slightly, rolling it between your teeth as you pass him the paper back.

“Is it getting hot in here?”

Not this line.

“Nope, just you.” You let out a sharp exhale, reading over more of the project.

“Whew. I gotta take off my shirt.”

“Excuse me?” Your eyes nearly bulge out of your skull, causing you to drop your pencil. But it’s too late once Billy is pulling his shirt over his head. “Hey!”

Though, he wears a tank top underneath.

And honestly, you’re kind of disappointed.

Wait, what?

He hurls the shirt towards your bed, running his hands through his messy curls. His arms look even bigger, and you can see the faint outline of his abs through the thin, white material. You catch the tattoo on his upper bicep, and you have to put a hand to your mouth from saying anything - now this was ruining you.

Don’t give in.

“Like what you see, Y/L/N?” He flexes his arms in a subtle manner, biting down harshly on his lip. He grunts as he leans over to pick up your pencil, handing it to you. “Didn’t mean to make you drop this.”

Yeah. Apology accepted. Jerk.

“If this is your way of seducing me, it isn’t working.” You cross your ankles over each other, shaking your head at Billy.

He laughs, running his hand through his hair. “And why would I want to seduce you, Y/N?”

The question does sting, but it doesn’t change the fact that his face is literally inches away from yours.

You aren’t done playing the game.

“Oh, I don’t know, Billy. Maybe because I’m the only girl on that - that list of yours that you haven’t yet crossed out? Or is it because you’ve fucked all the pretty girls at school and you’ve finally come to the realization that you’d rather fuck someone with a bit of brains?”

Billy hums with a slow, antagonistic nod, tongue poking out from the corner of his lips. He abruptly stands up, turning up the volume on your record player. He’s dancing. But the bitter look on his face is all you can focus on. You stand up as well, pouting as you lower the volume of the music. It’s a back and forth between you, Billy, and the music.

“The problem with pretty girls, Y/N...” He starts between breaths, still dancing as you stand ahead of him - not happy. “... is that they can’t tell when a guy is no longer interested in them. They got the looks, but no brain.” He chuckles, parting his lips as he taps the side of his head. “And the girls that do have brains? They also got a problem. They’re smart, sure, but they just don’t know when to quit being a bitch.”

That’s when he turns up the music to full volume, hooting in your face as he dances even more.

This was Billy Hargrove at his finest.

“We’re never gonna get this project done if you keep thinking with your dick instead of your head, asshole.” You almost growl. You’re fuming now.

He really knows how to piss a girl off, huh?

“You ever had a boyfriend, Y/N?”

No. Never.

“Yeah, I have. Why?” You gulp, pushing past Billy. You sit down on your bed, continuing on writing your analysis for the project.

“What was his name?”

“Uh - It was - It’s Steve.”

What are you doing?

“You dated Harrington? King Steve?” He slowly stops dancing, panting loudly as he looks down at you.

“Dating him, actually.”

Oh, God.

“Huh. You ever had sex with him?”

“Hargrove, this is getting a little personal.” You chuckle nervously.

“Is that a... no?” He crouches down in front of you, eyes blinking at you. He’s catching on. Surely, you weren’t this good of a liar. “I’ll take that as a no. Must suck, yeah? Harrington doesn’t know how to handle a woman like you. Poor Y/N. You just want a little lovin’ from King Steve...”

His thumb hooks itself under your chin.

And his blue eyes are almost hypnotizing.

“Are you really dating Steve Harrington? ‘Cause you seem a lot out of his league. You’re not even in the ballpark, baby.”

His big hand cups your jaw, fingers rubbing against your skin. Somehow, his hands are freezing - despite the hundred degree weather.

“I have a... boyfriend.”

Billy knows you’re lying now.

“Why are you so cold to me, Y/N?” His eyes are fixed on your lips, flickering up to you when you speak.

“I don’t know. Why are you such a douchebag?”

“Sure. I’m a dick, but you - you’re somethin’ else. You are mean. Steve seems a little soft for someone as headstrong as you.” He shrugs animatedly, “Maybe you’re looking for a - a... thrill.”

“What do you want from me?” You scoff at him.

“I think I know why you hate me.” You hold your breath as he continues, “We’re more alike than you think we are.”

“Yeah? I’d like to hear it, then.”

Deathmatch.

“We both crave something more. Most people go after someone with a little... heat to their name, but us? We thrive in the cold.”

“You’re wrong.” You shake your head at him.

“Then why am I still touching you?” He stands, hands leaving your jaw.

No, come back.

“Billy, this - this isn’t-“

“Surely, your boyfriend wouldn’t like the way I was touching you, wouldn’t he? What’s Steve gonna do if he finds out? Fight me?”

“Steve’s not my boyfriend! Fine! You win!” You explode, rising to your feet.

And it all comes rushing back to you.

You both really are alike.

“You see it now, don’t you? All this competing, this - this fighting, we clash because we’re the same. And it scares you. Because who would’ve thought you had something in common with the douchebag from school, huh?”

He takes a step closer to you. And you do the same to him.

“Smart girls need attention, too.” He says softly, leaning in to whisper at your ear. “But you... you’ve been looking for someone who’s as cold as you. And I respect that, Y/N.”

You make the mistake of locking eyes with him when he pulls back.

“I’m way out of Steve’s league.”

You look down at his plump lips, glancing at how his neck bobs when he pushes your hair behind your shoulder.

There’s an unfamiliar feeling that sparks in your chest when Billy’s fingers trail past your collarbone.

“Can I kiss you now? Because all this tension might give me high blood pressure.” He smirks at you.

You don’t reply.

But you do lean forward, on the tips of your toes, mashing your lips against Billy’s. Your hands are cool against his shimmering skin.

The kiss isn’t sweet, but fueled with fire and pent-up anger. Billy is fast enough to show you that he really wants you, but at the same time, he’s slow, wanting to prove to you that you aren’t just another name on his so-called ‘list.’

You don’t give a shit about winning anymore.

Stubble tickles your cheeks as Billy moves to kiss your neck.

“This doesn’t... this doesn’t change the fact that I still hate you...” You breathe raggedly, screwing your eyes shut at how his mouth feels on your neck.

He tugs at the straps of your tank top, pulling it over your head as he hoists you up into his arms. Your legs wrap around his hips, and you can feel the tightness form in his jeans.

“God, you’ve been such a bitch to me for the past week.” He moans into your skin, pressing you up against your bedroom door as he uses one hand to hold you, and the other to unclasp your bra. You let out a choked moan, only for Billy to place his hand over your mouth. “Don’t forget that your mama is downstairs. What would she think if she saw me doing this to her daughter?”

You bite at his hand, smiling as he groans pleasurably at the sensation.

He’s so rough, but you’re enjoying it.

Billy swivels on the heels of his shoes, laying you down onto your bed as he kisses down your torso. His saliva sticks to your skin, and he chuckles when he watches you arch your back into him. Your hand reaches for his, and he doesn’t pull away - despite how intimate the action is for him.

Billy Hargrove doesn’t hold hands with flings.

That’s how he really knows you aren’t one of them.

“B-Billy...” You gasp as his lips pass over your breasts, his hands cupping and kneading them softly.

He reaches up to kiss you again, whispering, “This isn’t your first time, right?”

You shake your head, “No, no.”

“Okay.” He nods with a grin, taking off his top. “But no one is ever gonna make you feel this good.”

He groans as you crawl to the edge of the bed, playing with him through his jeans. You glance up at him innocently, his fingers card through your hair. You leave short kisses on his abs, slowly making your way up to his neck. You suck and lick at it, surely leaving a prominent mark there. He pulls out his belt, flinging it onto the floor as you unbutton his jeans for him.

He licks his lips, pushing you back down onto the bed. You scoot over, making room for him as he takes off your shorts. You chuckle when he moans at the sight of lace.

“Didn’t know you were wearing those.” He says, obviously surprised as he wraps his fingers around the waistband, letting it snap against your skin. You gasp, letting his hands wander over your back.

“Just be glad I’m letting you see them.”

He flips you over so that you’re on your knees, ass in his face as he pulls the lace panties past your ankles.

You bite back a loud moan. His face and his mouth is down there and you swear you’ve entered heaven itself.

Hell was too hot for the both of you, anyways.

He hums against you, the vibrations nearly sending you over the edge as he toys with you in places you didn’t even know existed. He pulls away, causing you to whimper.

But as you look back at him, the sight is enough to make you cum. His boxers are nowhere to be seen, and instead, he’s touching himself, grinning as he sees the dumbfounded expression on your face.

“You’re okay with this?” He asks, furrowing his eyebrows. You’re shaking your head. “I need to hear it out loud.” He kisses your lower back, hands caressing your ass.

“Yes. Please.”

“Condom?”

You wink, rubbing yourself against him. “On the pill.”

Billy lets out a moan, chuckling. “Mm, that’s my girl.”

You hold back a breath as he pushes himself into you. He’s huge, and it stings with how much he’s stretching you out. You let out a sob of pleasure, hand coming to touch Billy’s upper thigh.

“Slow?” He asks, voice gruff as he bottoms out. You’re sure that he’s as deep as possible, but part of you longs for him to go even deeper.

“No, fast.”

Billy pulls out, only to slam back in. His movements are quick, hips thrusting at a rapid pace. You’re moaning, falling into the mattress with how good he feels inside you.

“Holy fuck!” He grunts as he leans over you, hand coming to rest by your face. He outstretches his fingers, and you take his hand into yours. “Y/N...”

“We have to - to be quiet...” You moan once more, throwing your head back as his arm wraps around your stomach, pulling you closer to him.

He pounds into you, grunting as silently as possible. You can feel the heat radiating off of him.

“Good girl, such a good girl for me.” He cries out, taking a fistful of your hair. You yelp out of surprise when he gently pulls you back.

You liked that.

“D-do that again.” You stutter, mumbling incoherent words when he repeats the action.

The record player still plays music.

And you’re so grateful that it’s loud enough to silence the filthy sounds between you and Billy.

Thank God for that.

But this... this was a whole new level of sinful.

Billy brings a hand to touch your throat. And you nod in approval, shutting your eyes when you feel the pads of his fingers tighten around your airway. He’s still soft and cautious, but the way he was fucking you was enough to send you into overdrive.

Your hand comes up from the bed, jaw hanging open in utter bliss as you flex your fingers. “I’m gonna cum. Billy, holy, I-“

“C’mon, baby.” Thrust. “I’m right there...” Thrust. “...With you.”

You’re cumming.

Your legs are shaking and you feel the wave of heat fall over your body like a spell. Billy follows shortly, groaning sinfully as he buried himself inside you. He pulls out, pumping himself as he lets himself go on your back. You feel the warm drops of his cum drizzle across your back and over your ass, trickling down your thighs and between your legs before you fall onto the bed.

“Oh, my god.” You sigh, curling up. Billy falls beside you, eyes studying your features for any sign of pain or sadness.

“Was that okay?”

“I just had sex with Billy Hargrove. Oh, my-“ Your hand comes up to massage your temples.

He chuckles.

“And I just had sex with you, so I guess we’re pretty even.” He states, kissing your neck one last time.

He’ll give it to you.

You both win.

But who said that the game would be over?

-

“Here’s the project, Mrs. Johnson.” You smile respectfully, exchanging glances with Billy as you hand her the folder. Her eyes bounce from you both, hands sorting through the papers of the project.

“This looks good.” She nods, eyebrows raised when she finds the part that Billy had worked on. “Wow, Y/N must’ve been a great help to you, Billy.”

“Yeah. She helped me a lot.”

Billy links his pinky with yours under the table, where your thigh rests against his. His fingers come to toy with the hem of your skirt, and his touch: cold.

“Well, I might say that this project deserves an A. It looks very well-planned and thought out.” She takes off her reading glasses, placing them carefully on her desk as she re-organizes your papers. “How would you feel about an extra credit project, Billy? Just to boost your grade a little more before the year ends?”

You and Billy share a knowing grin.

It’s wicked.

It’s spiteful.

It’s cold as ice.

But there’s an inextinguishable heat that lingers between the two of you.

“As long as Miss Y/N can be of help to me.” He flashes a charming smile, hands coming up to rest on the wooden desk.

“Of course, Mr. Hargrove.”

You shut the door of the classroom behind you, following Billy into the bustling hallway towards the cafeteria.

He turns to you and winks as he turns the corner, denim jacket slung over his shoulder.

“See you later, partner.”

“Later, douchebag.”

Oh, how you loved the cold.

Chapter 1: The Odd Day

At age five you could read minds.

By the age of six years old you had already learned how to deceive the men working for the lab. Nobody would ever suspect a small child learning such a thing and yet you were no ordinary child.

By age seven you had learned how to manipulate the minds of the men around you with a few words.

By age eight they had caught onto what you were doing and made it so you couldn’t talk. You knew you had to be smarter and sneakier.

By age nine you figured out you could make them bend to your will with a touch. Nobody touches you anymore.

By ten you could make them bend to your will with a thought if you concentrated hard enough.

By eleven you knew you had to make them forget.

It took three whole years.

At age fourteen, you made them forget. Then you disappeared.

The man is in his 40s and balding with a round belly and white lab coat. You gaze at him almost in boredom as he deletes your files from the computer and the surveillance footage. You had been eating away at every mind in the facility for the past few weeks. Your plan is foolproof. When he is finished you know you need to do one more thing. You have him lead you to Martin Brenner. You follow him into the room before you make the man before you collapse into an unconscious state. Brenner gets up at the sudden disturbance and gazes at you in shock. You tilt your head in contemplation before you open your hand indicating you want the file. You watch as his eyes glaze over and he reaches in his desk for your file.

He goes to hand you the file and you grasp his hand making the man freeze.

“You are to forget me. You will never think of me again. You will forever leave me alone.”

You turn on your heel and walk away. After years of reading the minds of the workers and studying their every move within the lab you knew your way out. For a moment, guilt washes over you as you hear the forlorn yells a little girl as she screamed for her ‘Papa.’ That man is not her papa and you want to take her with you, as bad as it is in here, you know little of out there and that world is no place for a child of ten.

You do a sweep of the lab making sure you haven’t forgotten anything. The gloves they forced onto you in order to control you, now just help you not to leave any traces behind. When you get to the guards you have them wipe all the new surveillance footage before you wipe their minds and walk casually out of the gates and into the forest.

You understand the concept of family. You had seen them in the minds of the men. You saw happiness and love in family. You saw safety and security.

You walk through the woods until you get to a road. Since you don’t have a car you just start walking.

You aren’t sure how much time has passed when a car comes speeding toward you but you’re surprised when a familiar face is staring back at you. Melanie Summers is a labtech at the facility and someone whose memory you had a harder time of erasing.

“Get in,” She says with finality.

You regard her for a moment and wonder if you should trust her. A gentle probe of her mind and you know.

You get into the car and she rushes off down the road.

“I can’t believe you actually made it out….” she says more to herself than you, “How did you do it?”

You regard her silently for a moment. You had spent years muzzled like a rabid animal so you couldn’t speak. They didn’t talk to you. Melanie had been the only one to treat you like a person. She had lost a child and apparently you reminded her of her daughter.

“I plan for long time.”

She nods in understanding, “Where are you going to go?”

“Anywhere that is not there.”

Talking hurts too much so the next time she asks a question you just shrug your shoulders. Perhaps you should be more grateful to this woman who is risking her life to help you, or maybe you should leave and never return. ‘I’ll stay with her until I know where to go, then I’ll leave…’

That had been the plan anyway. That had been three years ago now and now high school almost made you want to go back to the lab. Teenagers are cruel and your odd mannerisms had made you quite the target for snide remarks and judgement. Imagine going to high school and knowing exactly what everyone thinks about you.

Mostly echoes of ‘freak’ or ‘weirdo’ haunt your mind through every interaction. Every minute thing about your appearance and mannerisms to the fact that you are smart attracted the disdain of your peers.

You had somehow garnered teachers pet status due to your intelligence and your boredom. Well, perhaps not that last bit…

This is why you get paired up with Steve ‘The Hair’ Harrington in your science class. This makes you want to actually poke your eyes out with a spork. The plastic ones from the cafeteria… spork.

You heave a sigh as you glance to your right and roll your eyes at the male sitting next to you as he tries to balance a pencil on his upper lip.

“So what are we doing?” He asks eventually when you don’t offer to speak to him.

You turn and look over at him before you shrug and continue to look through your science book.

‘Great… I got stuck with the freak… I hope she doesn’t go all Carrie on everyone…’

You heave another sigh at the thought that drifts from his mind. You shake the thought away as you turn from him and gaze out the window. You open your science book to a page about chemical reactions and slide it over to him.

“I’ll handle it,” you say with finality before you close the book and stuff in your bag a moment before the bell rings.

‘Like hell am I babysitting this overgrown child,’ you think to yourself as you get up and walk away. You ignore him as he shouts after you.

“Look,” Steve says as he goes to grab your shoulder.

You whip around and throw his hand off of you.

“Don’t touch me.”

He holds his hands up as he takes a step back, “whoa… sorry… I just wanted to tell you I want to help.”

You regard him quietly for a moment, “if that’s what you wish.”

“Uhh it is?” He calls as he falls into step next to you.

You just nod in acceptance.

“We should probably meet up then? You could come over and we could do the project at my place?”

You can practically feel the wince at the suggestion.

You just nod once again, “okay.”

“Okay cool… well… I’ll see you soon.”

You nod and watch as he rushes off down the hallway.

You make your way to your next class quietly and feel a frown as the voices of the new student, Billy, and his cronies Tommy and Carol meet your ears. Billy hadn’t bothered with you, but Tommy and Carol love to make comments and shoulder check you as you walk down the hallways. Even better if you are holding books to knock from your hands. You had thought of using your powers on them multiple times, but you knew that while in Hawkins staying as far below the radar as you can is important.

“Billy! I don’t think you’ve met this… freak yet have you?” Tommy yells loud enough for you to hear as you go to pass them. Tommy makes it a point to step directly in your path. You regard him cooly for a moment before you make to get around him. You can see Billy out of the corner of your eyes watching the event unfold. Sure he’s handsome but his mind is angry. You made it a point to stay as far out of it as you could. Nothing good ever comes from minds like his.

You gaze back at Tommy in abject boredom and you make to get around him again.

“Where do you think you’re going?” questions Carol in her shrill voice as she walks up to you.

You turn towards her voice, “Away from you.”

You smirk at the outrage on her face as you attempt to get around the pair a second time.

“What was th-”

“Let her pass,” A deep velvety voice cuts off Tommy.

The duo turn to regard their companion in confusion, “But Billy!”

“I said…” he says as his voice drops dangerously low, “Let her pass.”

You regard him in confusion as the words ‘fucking asshole,’ floats across his mind.

“Thank you…” you say softly.

He turns and nods at you as he continues to stare the other two down. You don’t stick around to see what happens next. You don’t question why, Billy Hargrove, the guy who seems hell bent on making Steve’s life a living nightmare would be nice to you. Then again, you aren’t the biggest fan of Steve Harrington anyway. He may be nicer now that he is dating Nancy Wheeler, but that doesn’t erase the past.

You put the two males from your mind as you make your way to your final class of the day. Billy walks in a few moments before the bell and takes a seat in the back closest to the door. His gaze shows his boredom as he regards the English class with minimum attention. You don’t pay much mind to him and when class is over you head for the door.

You are almost home free when you hear your name being called by none other than Steve Harrington.

“So…. Would you be free this weekend to work on our project?”

“Why are you so excited about this?” you finally ask after a moment of being confused by the male’s presence.

“I’m… not doing so hot in science and I need a good grade…. This is like what? Thirty percent of our grade? I figured this would help…”

You just nod in understanding, “We can work on it this weekend.”

You say nothing more on the matter as you walk away from him.

“Ok! Bye!” he yells after you, his discomfort obvious.

You just hold your hand up to signal you heard him.

You get out the doors in enough time to watch Billy peel out of the parking lot. You contemplate for a moment the fact that he had been somewhat decent to you today, but don’t dwell on it long. The walk back to your house is odd to say the least. You notice an odd group of kids speeding past you on their bikes. One child in particular catches your attention.

‘It must be nothing… surely it’s nothing… it’s not back…he’s-’

Panic rolls around inside of his brain and as you regard him, you feel a presence you haven’t felt in 3 years. The hairs on the back of your neck stand on end and you resume your casual walk home, but this time just a little bit faster than before.

Please let me know what you thought of the first chapter! I’m super excited for this!! Also this is the largest taglist I’ve done for a story I haven’t even published yet. I’m excited to hear your thoughts! And reblog to spread the word!
