shark of the day: pacific sharpnose shark, rhizoprionodon longurio

the pacific sharpnose shark is a small species of requiem shark. they an grow to be up to around 1.2 metres(~4 ft) long. pacific sharpnose sharks are found in tropical coastal waters of the eastern pacific. they feed on small bony fish and crustaceans.

salmon sharks are large, bulky mackerel sharks that closely resemble small great whites. they typically grow to be around 2.5 metres(~8.5 ft) long, though some can reach lengths of up to 3 metres(~10 ft). salmon sharks live in the cold, temperate and subarctic open waters of the northern pacific ocean. their diet consists of large bony fish, including salmon, from which their name derives, cephalopods, small aquatic mammals, and occasionally large sea birds.
