I'm not wildly fond of tumblr ads promoting weight loss all willy-nilly, but the theming of this one combined with the fact that I saw it on a blog that I first followed for Dracula Daily posting has me losing it. Lose weight how, pray tell, dear tumblr ad? Lose blood weight? Because someone's drinking it? Am I going to be running through Transylvania because there's a vampire chasing me?

Alright, I think I’ll end the day’s mass Christmas rebloggings here, with some good old fashioned Nygmobblefamily fluff :) Adorable as ever. Also I love the detail in the pattern of Oswald’s robe. This art is just so cozy and snuggly and sweet; I can feel the warmth. 

The lady I work with also does Christmas in January, actually. I think it’s an Eastern Orthodox thing--she’s from Russia. Well, they had a family Christmas this Saturday, but she’s mentioned the January Christmas thing to me before, too. I think they might do both.

I hope you all have a nice day (regardless of holidays) and that you have fun on New Year’s Eve as well. I got 3 more days of work and then I’m on holidays. (We celebrate Christmas in January. Crazy, I know.)

One of the things I love about having a tumblr now is tracking down all the great fanart I’ve appreciated for so long and getting to share it and sing its praises properly :) The lovely Christmas Tardis picture in this set was my first phone screensaver when I started using my first smartphone last Christmas. (Yes, I’m very behind on technology for a millenial.) I love all of these so much, though. The style feels like proper, old-fashioned book illustrations, gentle and fantastical and nostalgic--and, of course, Christmassy :) 

In response to the “which door” question--well, the cheating answer is the Tardis so that you could visit all of the other worlds with it ;) Honestly, though, I would choose the Tardis first for the sake of variety--I mean, how could you turn down the whole universe, past, present, and future? Second place is harder to pick, though. Probably Hogwarts, followed by Middle Earth and/or Narnia--I think those two tie for a close third. Each promises similar fantastical adventures. Wonderland and 221B would be neat, too, but they’re lower priority. I don’t actually recognize the door below the Tardis with the hippos (or horses?) and the lighthouse. Whatever fandom that is is probably laughing at me now. In any case, I love how each door leads to adventures :)

My gosh this is super fun. I went and looked up Rex Velvet, too, and his videos are hilarious. Like you said, he doesn’t seem to have done anything truly villainous, at least not in an illegal sense, but he seems to have distributed these “Superheroes not welcome” posters. It’s interesting that he seems to be pro-police, actually, so he’s not nessecarily promoting villainy, just denouncing vigilantism (and brandishing weapons in a vaguely threatening manner, but other than that). 

But yeah, the videos turn out to be sketches more than anything, but it’s still really fun. It’s hilarious how he keeps calling Phoenix Jones and crew nerds when he appears to be out-nerding them by leaps and bounds. I mean, he’s sitting there straight up drinking Firewhiskey, and apparently he has a DeLorean? He’s a ridiculous nerd and I love him, even if I don’t nessecarily agree with his anti-vigilante stance. (I mean, there’s pros and cons. We can discuss the legal/functional implications of vigilantism another time.) Anyways he’s also thrown a super swag villain party and he has cat-minions, so. 

(This is his intro video with the firewhiskey, his anti-Phoenix Jones premise, and his vaguely threatening weapon brandishing. This one introduces his anti-superhero poster campaign, also featuring the DeLorean. Here is the sketch with his totally not photoshopped cat minions (that might be spoilers, sorry), which is probably the funniest of all of these, and here is his villain party, with some villains who are more swag than certain others.)

Also there were links in the comments section of the first video to more articles about Phoenix. I started reading this interview and it was quite interesting--it explains how he chose his name, for example: “Phoenix is my son's name, and Jones is the most common last name in America, so I did it for my son and for the common person.” But then I got distracted by Rex’s nerd-swag villainy and I didn’t finish reading the article. Phoenix seems really cool, too, though.

Happy Valentine’s Day! I’ve been working on a longer Valentine’s post of my own for a few days now (a sort of retrospective of my ships through the years via my favorite fanvideos) but it’s late and I need to go to bed, so it’s going to have to come out a little late. So, I thought I’d just reblog something cute and Valentine’s-y while it’s still Valentine’s. Well, it’s technically early morning the day after, but you know, close enough. So I decided to try stripping the blue tones out to see what this would look like with more natural coloring. It still looks weirdly off because I think there wasn't that much color left underneath the blue, so even boosting the saturation didn't really make it quite normal-looking, but here's my best try with what I can do on my phone:

Then I messed around with it a little more on my laptop and boosted the contrast and messed with the tones a little more, though it’s still flatter than I’d like, especially in the background.

Well, it was a fun experiment at any rate, and it does look a touch more true to color! To get it really realistic, I think you’d have to color it section by section, almost like colorizing a black and white picture, but I don’t really feel like messing with Pixlr right now so I think I’m going to call this good enough. Enjoy! :)
