I only watched Matilda for the first time a couple of years ago. And then I quickly read the book and listen to the musical about a dozen times after that. It’s one of my favorite stories, and I’ve always adored this moment of Matilda walking along the road with her wagon in tow! My mom recreated her iconic dress by upcycling a large women’s one she found at a thrift store. To match the floral pattern, she actually hand painted the red and yellow flowers onto the fabric. It’s one of my favorite things!
Okay so it turns out youtube music saw us being jealous of the spotify users and I too now have a wrapped! Or a "recap", but whatever. Check it out:
So that's neat! I don't know if I have a top 100 playlist for all those ask games; I'll have to poke around a bit and see. *Some time later* Okay I have poked around and I do have one! Ask games here I come! (Probably on blagueofchaos though, in the interest of keeping this one tidy.)
I must say I don't remember listening to a remix of Naked, just the normal one with the music video*; I'm not sure if this is a youtube vs. youtube music thing -- most of the time I listen on just plain youtube so it's possible this is only accounting for the slice of my data where I'm using my phone*? I'm not positive, but it's nice to have statistics, or ones that actually seem to reflect my listening habits.
To be completely honest, I did technically have a spotify wrapped too, but the only things I listened to on there were the official Riot Fest playlist and some of Jon Walker's stuff because he did specifically ask people to stream it on there and I was like, alright, fine, but only for you Jon. Lol. But because of the Riot Fest playlist, I didn't even recognize most of the songs on my wrapped, and the top song was one I listened to twice, so like I said, these stats are definitely much more reflective of what I actually listen to.
Although, I will say, it's curious that it tells me my % ranking for MCR but not for TAI when they were my top artist this year? Idk, struck me as odd I guess. But yeah it's a decent % I suppose, although I guess I'm not even competing with most of the people on here since it seems like most people on here use spotify. I also can't help wondering whether I truly listened to Same Blood exactly 100 times or if it rounded the number for me. If I genuinely did that just by like instinct or whatever, that's amazing, but I can't help being a bit suspicious there.
*Interesting update -- when I look in my top 100 playlist, it is indeed the standard music video version of Naked, so I'm not sure where the part about it being a remix came from. Based on the full playlist, though, I do think youtube is accounting for things I listened to on the website on my laptop as well as in the app, so this is indeed a pretty solid reflection of my listening habits I'd say.
Also, youtube made me top 50 playlists from Fall, Summer, and Spring, so if you want to ask about a song from any of those lists, you can too! Also there is a 2021 top 100 on there! Not positive how I missed that last year or if I just forgot, but it's interesting to see. I hadn't found TAI yet then so it's a pretty different list, haha. This will probably be my most TAI-heavy year ever, come to think of it, because goodness knows I binge things most when they're new to me... Funny to watch the trends in my own taste.
But yeah, this was fun :) I might add some more of the other cards about my listening personality on a reblog on blagueofchaos too. Happy spotify wrapped and a merry youtube recap to all! ;)
I think listening to "at the airport terminal" by Bill Wurtz while sitting in an actual airport terminal is one of my favorite travel-related experiences. It's the definition of peak yet undefinable vibes; the song just matches the otherworldliness of air travel so immaculately.
I love when a gifset is epic and powerful, and then you look up the song that it’s set to and it just gets that much more epic and powerful with the music sweeping behind it. I’ve found some darn good songs from gifsets, too. This set is just wonderfully done.
I can’t decide if I want El to get her powers back in season 4, or if it would be better for her to be free of them... I mean it’d be nice to have them back, but maybe she’s safer without them...

It’s been unseasonably warm this weekend in Iowa and I’m having dreams of a grand garden this spring (the kind where I'd never actually be able to keep it all weeded, but a girl can dream; I’ll probably end up with at least a few herbs and some pumpkins and peppers, though).
I’m also getting really into the idea of making one of these super cute faerie gardens. They are adorable and fantastic and I want one. I’ve been shopping for fairy houses and I have far too many tabs of them open.
I recognize that it is most likely no longer his 41st birthday, but I do quite like this gifset.
*Googles his birthday* Ah, I see that it is in fact shortly after his 42nd birthday! I didn’t realize it was so close to mine. Heeey he turned 42 on the 24th--happy inverse golden birthday, John!
Anyways I think I’ve been slowly becoming a Nerdfighter. I don’t know if I fully qualify as one yet but I’m getting close. It’s an awesome fandom name, by the way :)
Happy 41st birthday, John Green!
Thank you for being awesome!
So, is the guy with whom Lucy wishes she could set Mina up the owner of the same insane asylum as the one across the street from the castle Jonathan found for our friend the Count, or are there just a lot of insane asylums around in 1890s London?
I can’t say I’ve ever really been in a fandom at the end of its show, either, but I feel like there will always be something here. I mean, realistically, I would guess that the fandom will go on at full strength for at least a few months to a year after The End as we all digest and respond to it. After a while, I imagine it will taper off some, but I don’t think it will ever go away entirely. I suppose it varies from fandom to fandom, but there are plenty of old fandoms out there that keep lingering around. After all, when you love something hard enough to go full fandom over it, I think it will always hold a special place in your heart, and you’ll come back to it, and that will probably include a fair number of us in the fandom. I feel like the Gotham fandom is a particularly tight-knit community, from what I’ve encountered.
I feel you, though. I just binged Gotham this summer so I’m still sort of new here, too. It’s kind of weird just jumping into a fandom at the end, but, well, I guess it’s also an exciting time to be a fan? It’s so strange feeling this secondhand sadness as we watch the cast and crew say goodbye to the show a month before the end even starts for us. At least we won’t be able to binge this last season, so while I watched four years worth of Gotham in two weeks this summer, season 5 will last over two months. So there’s still a lot to look forward to, and I for one don’t plan on leaving right when it ends :)
Ive never been in a fandom to watch it end. Whats it like? Do people just kinda leave if theres no new content? I really hope not because Im pretty new to the gotham fandom and im gonna stay here after it ends so I was hoping most people wpuld do the same but again, I dont know.
You guys they've started regularly playing Foundations of Decay on my local rock radio station (which I have never previously heard play MCR) and anyways it just came on the radio and I'm currently sitting in my car at our town's drive-in ice cream stand blasting it, which I know we've been having that conversation about not playing your music loudly in public but. This feels like my duty as an MCR fan. Lol. Anyways, I don't know how to handle this being a song I just hear on the radio at random now, I'm not prepared for this, lol.
Like when I was first listening to it, I did think to myself "this has a bit more of a mainstream rock sound to it. I wonder if the rock stations will play it" but like I'm still a little surprised that that actually happens now and I can just hear MCR unexpectedly outside of a Hot Topic.
(And I don't mean it as a bad thing one way or another that this is more mainstream rock sounding than the other stuff of course; it's just a difference I noticed. )
Anyways in other news I met another roller skater at the tennis courts tonight, making her the first fellow roller skater in my town I've met, and I friended her on facebook, so I officially have a roller skating friend!! So I'm having a pretty rad Friday night overall :)
I just remembered that I submitted things to this page years ago, long before I had a tumblr, and a couple of them got published. Now that I do have a tumblr I thought I might as well share a thing to which I contributed :)
I should note that I did write this one back before I saw the 50th anniversary special, though that was still not quite aaaall the epic Time War drama I was hoping for. Also, someone in the notes has pointed out that the Big Finish audios go more into it, and I have really been wanting to get into those more for a while. I should put them on my Christmas list.
Actually, now I’d say it’s not specifically that I want more about the Time War anymore. I just want more Gallifrey in general. Like, I know the Doctor left because he found it stuffy and boring and whatnot (or because he was afraid, according to 12, but I imagine it was some combination thereof), but I want more backstory on his childhood and his school days, and more emotional drama with his family (who are apparently no longer disapparated from existence, so he should have to deal with them) and old friends (especially the Master, but other ones, too). There’s just so much emotional tension for the Doctor to deal with on Gallifrey!
I should really go back to those Doctor’s childhood fics I was writing. I even came up with my own longform version of the Doctor’s original Gallifreyan name--his real one, not his school nickname. Remind me to tell you about it some time; I was starting to write it here but then I realized this post was long enough and my naming of the Doctor is going to take a whole long post of its own to explain.
Hogwarts kills it with their holiday aesthetics, though. It feels like just yesterday that I was praising their Halloween décor, and now I see these great Christmas gifs going around again. Maybe not everyone at Hogwarts knows what they’re doing, but the decorator sure does!
(Okay, so like half of these are just snow, but still.)
“One can never have enough socks,” said Dumbledore. “Another Christmas has come and gone and I didn’t get a single pair. People will insist on giving me books.”
