Hi, I'm Arkturus, and welcome to the blog!
I'm a Sonadow and Arthurlot shipper, and I have a BUNCH of AUs in the works!
I normally post my writing on AO3, but you might be able to check some stuff out under the Arkturmistswrites tag! (once I actually begin to post stuff ;-;), and some WIPs with the ArkturmistsWIP tag, too! (Though those will be rarer) If you're in any rambles and/or random thoughts, look at the ArkturmistsYaps tag I hope you have a great time here!!
OH YEAH, I FORGOT
If you choose to go with the idea that Sonic's counterpart is also King Arthur (the hedgehog, not illusion), then you could also draw up reasons for why he isn't the king in the game.
Mordred was prophesied to kill Arthur, so (as a baby), Mordred was sent on a ship that was supposed to be destroyed, killing everyone aboard it. However, Mordred survived and eventually made his way to Camelot, becoming a knight and usurping Arthur's throne temporarily.
For a parallel, perhaps the illusion Arthur's fate was to be killed by Arthur the hedgehog (and rightful king). In an attempt to escape his fate, he asked for all the hedgehog children to be sent on a boat that was supposed to crash, killing everyone on board, but Arthur ended up surviving, and once Sonic left, took the throne.
If there’s one thing I love in SatBK, it’s that DESPITE being crowned as King Arthur, he actually fills 2 roles (Arthur and Mordred).
Him filling Arthur’s role is PRETTY self explanatory. He’s crowned king at the end of the game, pulled the sword from the stone, leads the knights and kingdom, etc. But Mordred’s role is something ENTIRELY different.
First, Mordred and Sonic both doomed Camelot in different ways: Mordred with usurping Arthur and taking his throne, Sonic with giving the scabbard to Merlina resulted in the kingdom almost being destroyed. Mordred disregarded the code of Chivalry (Sonic does this out of overall disinterest and his morals, Mordred has more lustful habits and unchivalrous behaviors, which Sonic DOES NOT have).
Then, we have the more obvious parallels between them. Mordred killed Arthur, and Sonic did the same with the illusionary Arthur. Mordred used Clarent to kill him, a sword that Arthur used in ceremonies, and BEFORE getting Caliburn, the sword Sonic uses for Misty Lake’s tutorial levels is, in fact, Clarent as well.
This is all REALLY circumstantial, and of course it’s not 100% accurate, I just thought it was a really cool thing to mention.
But I also really want to know what this would mean for Merlina’s dialogue now. After all: “Arthur is struck down by his son Mordred, and departs for Avalon”, but if Sonic fills the roles of BOTH Arthur and Mordred, then Camelot’s ending plays out much differently.
Love the fact that my (few) moots are really kind/cool people!

STONE, THANK YOU
One cool thing I think about Agent Stone is that he's not xenophobic.
Like, yes he's evil and wants to take over the world and doesn't mind ruining lives but he draws the line at being prejudiced. Yes he can't stand Sonic, but that's because he's a threat to Eggman's plans and a target for Ivo. He kind of likes Tails and finds him cute, to the point where he wants to know more about him. Hell, even the beef with Knuckles isn't because the echidna is an alien, but because Stone thinks he's so dumb and therefore doesn't deserve his respect. When he took care of Shadow at the crab, he wasn't just civil, he actively treated him well. Stone cooked for him, kept a telenovela playing for him to distract himself and took the initiative to cheer Shadow up. He even said "we're going to take over the world :D" with the happiest face known to man. Stone was genuinely eager to share the victory of achieving his and Robotinik's life goal with this space kid he barely knew.
GUN really is the worst.

The more I think about it, the more subtle references to Arthurian legend are actually IN SatBK. One of the SMALLEST references is during Gawain's defeat, when he tries to behead himself. This is likely a reference to Gawain and the Green Knight. The Green Knight offers to get hit with a VERY nice axe, but in return, whatever blow was dealt to him will be returned the next year (so, if Gawain and lightly tapped him on the arm, Gawain would get a light tap on the arm in response). Gawain beheads the Green Knight, hoping it'll kill him, but the Green Knight just says that he'll see Gawain next year, picks up his head, and walks out.
Next year comes, and the Green Knight disguises himself, with Gawain proving himself as strong-willed, noble, and honest to the disguised Green Knight. This ends up working in Gawain’s favor, since instead of getting beheaded, he only gets a small tap on the neck from the axe. Just like where Galatine was positioned in the cutscene before Sonic took it away.
Gotta love SatBK's references.
Headcanon: Team Dark's rooms are decorated to their own personal tastes/interests.
Shadow's room is dark, pretty sparse but not barren. On the walls there's star charts, and a few shelves cluttered with nick-knacks from his various missions. Books strewn about, ranging from fantasy to anatomy, to a pile of journals he writes in daily. On the ceiling, Rouge placed some glow in the dark stars, in patterns of his favorite constellations. His bed is pretty minimal as well, and the one thing on his nightstand is a framed picture of Maria and Gerald. Rouge's room is the opposite. The walls are deep pinks and purples, her bedspread is full of pillows and blankets, and jewels she's stolen decorate the walls. Rugs overlap on the floor, and her wardrobe is on a clothing rack, showcasing glitzy and glamours outfits. While Shadow's room is more minimal, Rouge's is the epitome opulence.
Omega's "room" is minimal. He simply enters, and just rests/recharges. There's only one thing on the wall, a picture of Eggman that he occasionally uses for target practice. Omega has little/no use for a bedroom, instead only using it as a place to go when he needs a recharge every so often.
THANK YOU TO EVERYONE IN THIS POST!
the suffering never ends
Ideas for a SatBK remaster (if it ever happens):
Camelot Castle and Nimue's Lake as hub worlds! Nimue can provide her challenges of Chivalry (the missions she sends Sonic on), and the bonus stages (unlocked after defeating Merlina), while the extra challenges could be given by the villagers in Camelot Castle. Connections to Arthurian legend can be accessed through dialogue at Nimue's, while SatBK specific lore can be accessed with the villagers in Camelot Castle, changing at different parts of the game (them talking about Arthur's corruption, how grateful they are to Sonic, and when Lancelot/Percival/Gawain, how they react to each knight). Plus, it would provide easy access to the Blacksmith, unlocking titles, and exchanging items.
FIXED CONTROLS. NO MORE DELAY. It's admittedly part of the charm (for me), but I would LOVE to have them fixed so the delay isn't as bad.
Camelot's treasury as an ACTUAL room (like Shadow's room in Generations). This can showcase the different items that are found, different talismans or potions made at the blacksmith's, and even showcasing the Sacred Swords. You could also view found concept are and replay cutscenes here.
A way to access Battle Mode in the game. Like, walk through one gate, and a prompt comes up asking if you want to enter Battle Mode/Multiplayer. This would let the player choose what character they want to play as, and also allow them to battle against a CPU opponent.
Some way to access the map at all times. With the original theme for the level selection playing while it's pulled up. For levels, you'd still have the ability to choose which knight you play as before entering a level, and the ability to equip items/talismans from the Blacksmith's Shop. (Maybe Merlina's magic allowed Sonic to instantly memorize the map or something.)
Last, but DEFINITELY not least:
GALAHAD AND LAMORAK IN THE GAME. PLEASE. SEGA, I'M BEGGING YOU.
