cw: light typical dabi body horror, swearing, joking about death and murder
these take place during the chapter four of my fic (link to the series here)
hope you enjoyed, thanks for reading š©·
Lil' list of details about Dabi that I adore.
His lazy eye.
His foot taps when he's impatient.
The way he closes one eye a tiny bit more than the other when his emotions are running high.
The sparkles that come out of his palms just before he uses his quirk. (Pretty much only seen in the movie)
The fact that he cries when he's overwhelmed, which includes when he thinks about his victims :(
Him flicking his hand back and forth/clapping. (presumably stimming)
The fact that he hates fish (I do too, I can't stand seafood of any kind.)
The way his voice is strained and slightly unclear in the fight with Shoto, showing how much emotion and adrenaline is surging through him.
How much softer his hair looks without his hair-dye.
How FINNEEEEEE he looks while getting his ass handed to him by Aizawa.
His bravery,, he outed the number 1 hero as an abuser on a broadcast that went out to all of Japan, that takes courage.
Him whooping the no.2 and nearly killing himā¼ļø + looking FINE while doing it.
The wrinkles in his scars.
The way smoke leaks from the seams of his stapled skin after he overuses his quirk.
Him smelling like burnt fleshš so cutecore.
His SLUTTY outfits.
His eyes. I feel like I don't have to say any more than that. Just look.
Nobody asked but I just had to draw him, so here is a doodle (ćļ¾Ļļ¾)
You know, come to think of it, itās WILD that any parents sent their kids to UA after what just happened lmao
Palestinian authorities and UN agencies began a large-scale campaign of vaccinations against polio, hoping to prevent an outbreak in the territory that has been ravaged by Gaza genocidešš«
We escaped death with our children, and fled from place to place searching for safety, and now we have these diseases. š
WHAT SHOULD WE FACE AGAIN TO CONVINCE THIS WORLD TO STOP THE GENOCIDEš¢, HELP US PLEASE , WE ARE JUST KIDS
I love writing especially when it is about something I love! I'll admit, my My Hero Phase never left. I've been on the series for about six years now and can't believe it' ending!
I've been writing a fanfiction across a couple different platforms to share my passion for the series. It's a Bakugo x Deku fanfiction and features an extra pissy Midoryia. The plot takes place after Bakugo gets stabbed, except Midoryia is told that he dies from the aftermath. It's been so much fun to write and I am updating regularly!
It's called "Who Saves the Hero?" and is available on Wattpad, AO3, and fanfition.net! If you're interested, you can check out these links below.

These videos follow a common recipe: A narrator, given a fandom (usually anime ones like My Hero Academia and Naruto), explores an alternative timeline where something is different. Maybe the main character has extra powers, maybe a key plot point goes differently. They then go on and make up a whole new story, detailing the conflicts and romance between characters, much like an ordinary fanfic.
Except, they are fanfics. Actual fanfics, pulled off AO3, FFN and Wattpad, given a different title, with random thumbnail and background images added to them, narrated by computer text-to-speech synthesizers.
They are very easy to make: pick a fanfic, copy all the text into a text-to-speech generator, mix the resulting audio file with some generic art from the fandom as the background, give it a snappy title like āWhat if Deku had the Power of Ten Ringsā, photoshop an attention-grabbing thumbnail, dump it onto YouTube and get thousands of views.
In fact, the process is so straightforward and requires so little effort, itās pretty clear some of these channels have automated pipelines to pump these out en-masse. They donāt bother with asking the fic authors for permission. Sometimes they donāt even bother with putting the ficās link in the description or crediting the author. These content-farms then monetise these videos, so they get a cut from YouTubeās ads.
In short, an industry has emerged from the systematic copyright theft of fanfiction, for profit.
Since the adversaries almost certainly have automated systems set up for this, the only realistic countermeasure is with another automated system. Identifying fanfics manually by listening to the videos and searching them up with tags is just too slow and impractical.
And so, I came up with a simple automated pipeline to identify the original authors of āWhat Ifā videos.
It would go download these videos, run speech recognition on it, search the text through a database full of AO3 fics, and identify which work it came from. After manual confirmation, the original authors will be notified that their works have been subject to copyright theft, and instructions provided on how to DMCA-strike the channel out of existence.
I built a prototype over the weekend, and it works surprisingly well:
On a randomly-selected YouTube channel (in this case Infinite Paradox Fanfic), the toolchain was able to identify the origin of half of the content. The raw output, after manual verification, turned out to be extremely accurate. The time taken to identify the source of a video was about 5 minutes, most of those were spent running Whisper, and the actual full-text-search query and Levenshtein analysis was less than 5 seconds.
The other videos probably came from fanfiction websites other than AO3, like fanfiction.net or Wattpad. As I do not have access to archives of those websites, I cannot identify the other ones, but they are almost certainly not original.
Armed with this fantastic proof-of-concept, Iām officially declaring war against āWhat Ifā videos. The mission statement of Project Copy-Knight will be the elimination of āWhat Ifā videos based on the theft of AO3 content on YouTube.
I am acutely aware that I cannot accomplish this on my own. There are many moving parts in this system that simply cannot be completely automated ā like the selection of YouTube channels to feed into the toolchain, the manual verification step to prevent false-positives being sent to authors, the reaching-out to authors who have comments disabled, etc, etc.
So, if you are interested in helping to defend fanworks, or just want to have a chat or ask about the technical details of the toolchain, please consider joining my Discord server. I could really use your help.

people using generative ai to write fanfiction for them is CRAZY. stay up until four in the morning hopping back and forth between your pinterest boards, a random synonyms website, and google docs where youāre stuck in the middle of a sentence deciding whether to refer to a character by their name or hair colour as the lord intended.
So Dabi and Toga joined the League together and Dabi and Compress work together really well, like know one anotherās moves and can communicate great in battle. And Dabi is Tomuraās lieutenant and basically the guy actually in charge of planning and coordinating while Tomuraās got the vision and the resources. So I propose that the loyalty of the League is split between them. Cause like, what if Dabi joined and brought other recruits with him. Toga and Compress definitely, maybe Magne and Twice too. And thatās part of why Tomura lets him get away with so much and put him in charge of recruiting. Cause letās be real, Dabi fries way too many people for him to keep that job if doesnāt already have some successes under his belt.
Anyway this post is a mess and Iām just gonna keep typing my train of thought about this and see where we end up now.
I just really love the partnership between Tomura and Dabi. Itās kinda hidden and definitely never explicitly stated, but Dabi is indisputably Tomuraās right hand man. Kurogiri follows his orders. But Tomura respects Dabi, and Dabi respects Tomura even if they suck at showing it. They listen to each other and are able to work together, sharing responsibility and trusting the other to be able to handle their shit. Thereās still some friction of course, Tomura doesnāt trust Dabiās interests to always align with his own and Dabi is only following Tomura because their interests align at the moment. And with like half the League being more loyal to Dabi than Tomura heās gotta be a bit worried about a coup. That fear fades with time once he establishes that he actually cares about the league and shows it better than Dabi but it probably really affected their relationship at the beginning. Thus Tomuraās clumsy attempts to assert dominance over him
Also Dabi and Compress are totally tight. Pretty sure they were partners in crime before joining the league. Like imagine the possibilities with their quirks. Evidence disposal, theft, smuggling, intimidation, scams together the two of them could do anything! Compress has his anonymity, Dabi had his incredibly recognizable and scary face⦠they would be great.
