This is uncomfortably accurate and I’m sad now

I'm aroace in the way that I desire romantic/sexual relationships but don't feel romantic/sexual attraction. I also get incredibly uncomfortable with romantic/sexual advances. Why am I the way that I am...

Sorry I just don't think celebrating anyones death is a decent thing to do. You all want compassion and empathy when it suits you but are out here literally salivating over someone dying.

I don't care care who they are, what they did etc. it's inhumane to celebrate someone's death.

We are meant to be an advanced civilisation, give it a rest.

Life happens around you when you're in the closet

You learn the word gay and you see the flags and you know one of them is yours

And everyone else around you is living their life while you figure out which one is which

Who am I attracted to

What are my pronouns

Am I attracted to anyone

Who am I

And the friends you know who have a handle on how to express themselves well

They're having their first kiss

They're going on their first dates

First girlfriend first boyfriend

First anniversary, meeting the parents, learning what it's like to have a significant other

You're fighting all these terms inside your mind

And you don't even know which word fits you so how do you tell someone what's going on

How do you get help if the people you're supposed to be able to turn to aren't for certain safe

So life goes on outside the closet you're looking from

One day you'll join, I promise you

I promise you because I have joined life as a queer person and there's so much of life to live little one

One day you'll live in the sun as your full authentic self and you will be okay

It took years and years for me

Past middle school pubescence, past high school struggles

Past college for me

Past early adult years

And let me tell you

There's comfort in the closet but the truth in the light of day will feel like home, you'll see

We'll all be here when you're ready

in this house we believe:

this place is not a place of honor

no highly esteemed deed is commemorated here

nothing valued is here

what is here is dangerous and repulsive to us

the danger is in a particular location

the danger is still present in your time as it was in ours

Disclaimer: my hatred of geologists is purely theatrical, but if I did have to kill one for some reason, it would be very easy.

I’d brandish my obsidian knife at them and they’d be compelled to approach. “That’s very cool,” they’d say, confident in their superior strength and endurance from all the rocks they carry around at all times. They’d shower me with very interesting facts about obsidian and hover just out of range of the cutting edge, waiting for me to exhaust myself. “But as it is volcanic glass, it’s very fragile, you see, and isn’t well-suited for use as a weap—” and then I’d hit them with the wooden baseball bat in my other hand, which they would not have noticed because geologists can only see rocks and minerals.

And we know these have to be true because he’s an author, and authors can’t lie. ESPECIALLY ari. He wouldn’t lie. Not on this account, to his devoted fans of his novels that he hasn’t publically advertised in a while and this feels like an excuse to advertise them but that’s besides the point and run-on sentences are good apparently because he said so and he can’t lie

Helpfull Writing Tips

Want to improve you writing style? Check out these easy tips!

Very you’re sentence structure. Add periods randomly and extend other sentences unnaturally to make them longer, more repetitious, and longer.

EXAMPLE: Bob went. To the market to buy some dogs.

Use descriptive word. Sentences are boring without some good, strong, interesting, useful, descriptive description.

EXAMPLE: Don’t just say “She looked with her eyes,” say, “She looked with her round, spherical, moist eyes.”

Use obejctive tone. This means using a voice in narration that objectifies you’re characters. When you characters are more like objects it’s easier to write them because you don’t need to give them human stuff like emotions and motives. They can just act to fit the plot.

EXAMPLE: Carla went to her morning class at school and when the aliens attacked she joined them in fighting Earth.

MAke up words when you don’t know the right one. This will not only ornaclate your readers, but they will also think your smarter because you know words that they don’t.

EXAMPLE: Richard felt he had to obfuscate the truth.

Use “passive” voice. This means when you get to a word that could be an action verb, instead “pass” the word over and use a better word, like “nestle” or “sponge.” These are good words. They are mine but I will let you use them.

EXAMPLE: There was a plot to sponge the king, but it was nestled by the knights.

Now you know writing. Go froth and write using these laws and you will write a good every time.

A Few Years Ago, When I Was Living In The Housing Co-op And Looking For A Quick Cookie Recipe, I Came

A few years ago, when I was living in the housing co-op and looking for a quick cookie recipe, I came across a blog post for something called “Norwegian Christmas butter squares.” I’d never found anything like it before: it created rich, buttery and chewy cookies, like a vastly superior version of the holiday sugar cookies I’d eaten growing up. About a year ago I went looking for the recipe again, and failed to find it. The blog had been taken down, and it sent me into momentary panic.

Luckily, I remembered enough to find it on the Wayback Machine, and quickly copied it into a file that I’ve saved ever since. I probably make these cookies about once a month, and they last about five days around my voracious husband - they’re fantastic with a cup of bitter coffee or tea. I’m skeptical that there is something distinctively Norwegian about these cookies, but they do seem like the perfect thing to eat on a cold day.

Norwegian Christmas Butter Squares

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 egg 1 cup sugar 2 cups flour 1 tsp vanilla ½ tsp salt Turbinado/ Raw Sugar for dusting

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Chill a 9x13″ baking pan in the freezer. Do not grease the pan.

Using a mixer, blend the butter, egg, sugar, and salt together until it is creamy.  Add the flour and vanilla and mix using your hands until the mixture holds together in large clumps. If it seems overly soft, add a little extra flour.

Using your hands, press the dough out onto the chilled and ungreased baking sheet until it is even and ¼ inch thick.  Dust the top of the cookies evenly with raw sugar.

Bake at 400 degrees until the edges turn a golden brown, about 12-15 minutes. Remove from the oven. Let cool for about five minutes before cutting the cooked dough into squares. Remove the squares from the warm pan using a spatula.

You’ve just aided an old woman knitting by the side of the road, and she reveals herself as a goddess in disguise!  Having passed her test and earned your place as the goddess’s chosen hero, she brings you back to her dwelling to choose a magical weapon or item, only to discover that a thief has completely cleaned out her stash!

The only magical gift she has left is the pair of knitting needles she was using in her “old lady” disguise.

Stepping Out: Laetoli Footprints

Stepping Out: Laetoli Footprints

In 1976, Yale University paleoanthropologist Andrew Hill was working with Mary Leakey’s research group on the excavation of an early-hominid archaeological site in Laetoli, Tanzania. Whilst conducting his work he unexpectedly stumbled across one of the most spectacular prehistoric discoveries ever made: a line of hominid footprints left in mud 3.6 million years ago.

Up until then, the earliest known human footprints were only tens of thousands of years old. Remarkably, Hill’s Laetoli footprint trail was nearly 30 metres. It left us with an action replay of one of the first species of prehistoric hominids who walked upright on two legs.
