Regarding Alan Moore

Alan Moore is a very strange individual with the mind of some creative god. He has written books such as "Voice of the Fire," "Jerusalem," and months back released his new short story collection called "Illuminations." He was born, raised, and is probably planning on living the rest of his life in his hometown of Northampton, a town in England. His hometown plays a very important role in many of his writings in his books, as "Voice of the Fire" dives deep into the history of the town, all the way back even into the caveman ages.

In regard to the comic book industry, Alan Moore is a legend. He is the name behind works such as "Providence" and "Promethea" but his most famous works lie within DC's Vertigo, or now Black Label, works which include his take on "The Saga of the Swamp Thing," "Batman: The Killing Joke" and "Watchmen."

He's had a rough history with DC comics, often times ending with the company screwing him over. While he never confirmed his reason for it, Alan Moore has come out to say he is officially done with comics, but it isn't too farfetched to say DC comics and their business deals have had something to do with it. This is more so seen with Watchmen, as Moore has wanted nothing to do with the movie that came out in 2009 or the HBO miniseries that came out ten years later after the movie.

His contributions, however, will not be forgotten. The events that took place in the Killing Joke have become canon in the Batman mythos and his work on Swamp Thing is what's fueling the Swamp Thing movie that will be a part of James Gunn's new DC cinematic universe, with the first chapter being titled "Gods and Monsters." On top of that, Watchmen is still very much alive. The characters have met the primary DC heroes in a storyline called Doomsday Clock and not too long ago there was a mini series in the comics dedicated to the iconic character of Rorschach.

While his comics were, and still are, fantastic, his books hold the same valor as hidden gems and should be considered classics amongst all that is published today. If one looks hard enough, they'll find headlines or even other authors claiming that Alan Moore is the best living writer of the English language. His works support that claim solidly.
