The canon ever
Hey Calamus, check this kit!
FINALLY someone realizes that they're a bit of a bitch
Something I really like about OneShot is that the puzzles that The World Machine gives us are an actual part of their personality. They know we will be able to figure them out and just want to mess with us. There is no reason why they won't straight up tell The Player the answer other than they simply don't want to (they are also annoyed if we keep pestering them about the answer). When at the end of the game we learn that the squares started because World Machine felt like doing a little trolling, it may seem surprising at first, but once you start thinking about it you realize that this is exactly what World Machine was doing this whole time to us.
As a bonus I'll add a compilation of "when you try to mess with Player but Player messes with you instead"
(when you receive weird film, but won't use it to see the code)
(when you solve the puzzle before talking to World Machine)
(once again, solving the puzzle without talking to World Machine)
Bisan's recent post. I think it's important for you to read it. Tonight 03.12.23, journalists in gaza share their last messages. There are no words to describe the horrors unfolding in gaza right now.
I no longer have any hope of survival like I had at the beginning of this genocide, and I am certain that I will die in the next few weeks or maybe days. I have been sick with severe viral infection for days and cannot move from the mattress!
I suffer from nightmares that are so closely resemble reality that I no longer differentiate between reality and dream.
I live in a world other than the one I claimed to be building! I am a community activist who lived on the fantasy that the world was free and just, and I sought to bring rights not only to my people, but to many men and women in third world countries!
I was shocked that I was not from the third world! Indeed, we are the most humane and moral! Yes, because the world approves, supports, and finances the genocide we are being subjected to, legislates it, and gives reasons for for 58 days! While we are a people who have been living on occupied land for 75 years and are still searching for our rights and communicating our voice to the world!
My message to the world: You are not innocent of what is happening to us, you as governments or peoples that support Israel’s annihilation of my people. We will not forgive you, we will not forgive you, humanity will not forgive you, we will not forget, even if we die, the history will never forget .
A Message to friends: Thank you and the supporters around the world. You have been compassionate and very strong. We ask you not to lose hope, even if the world seems completely unfair and your efforts have not yet resulted in a ceasefire.
Me and my friend made a silly little thing where it’s just Clone High (college in this case) combined with our hyperfixations. So I bring you: Art major Niko OneShot.
The hit game called "Oneshot" has this name because the Player is supposed to have only 1 (one) chance to do everything right, thus making no sense at all for you to return after the end, it just makes no sense at all.
I wish more people gave Niko a bumpkin accent, like they literally live in the countryside and gave never been anywhere large, save the Refuge.
Another thing that makes me angry is people think the only two characterizations of TWM is "Niko But Sad" or "Entirely mechanical and cold" and like??? Isn't their entire arc NOT being either of these things? Not once are they ever "Niko-like" and their entire arc is about NOT BEING COLD AND MECHANICAL!
Yknow after doing chores and overthinking OneShot again I could easily say that TWM having a breakdown strong enough to almost destroy themselves because of their obsession of keeping Niko safe could be a metaphor for getting obsessed with someone out of idealization to such an unhealthy degree that any sense of conflict with them causes one to break down (of course all of this being the product of some sort of trauma)
It's why I don't like the idea/characterization that TWM is obsessed with Niko after Solstice because it wouldn't make sense. TWM is healing and thus has no need to have an unhealthy attachment
I need to follow up, and talk about...
The Ballad of Chef Mike.
So, basically, some night when Karis is really, really drunk and really, really sad he accidentally starts streaming on his phone, and all he does is nuke something in his microwave and drunkenly ramble for hours while he just microwaves things for way too long, sometimes he eats it, sometimes he doesn't. Eventually these streams actually gained a bit of a cult following because of how darkly funny that are to watch, and were dubbed "Chef Mike streams" in honor of the microwave, aka, the titular Chef Mike, and his hard work.
We still like oc content in the UT/UTY community, right? Like Oc x canon stuff? Too bad I'm sharing mine:
TW: Mentions of alcoholism
So, meet Gay Boy.
His name is Karis, pronounced Care-iss.
He's a type of Monster that I got the idea for in a dream, they're called Fiends, basically typical demon-esque type of monsters, big horns, sharp teeth, can safely be in really hot environment, all that, they even have tiny bat wings.
He used to be an engineer, a really successful one, too! He graduated high school and worked in the CORE for a while, originally doing boring paperwork stuff that he absolutely hated, but then went on to actually do engineering work, which he enjoyed much more, however it just wasn't really his thing. So, he moved on to the Steamworks! (Yes, his story is connected to UTY) This was his permanent workplace for many years to come, and he LOVED it! Mostly because his dream job was to me a mechanic and he got loads of that kind of work there, even invented the minigun in his spare time, but also because he had a FAT workplace crush. On Chujin. Ok pals here's where the oc x canon part comes in. Ever since high school, he's had the FATTEST crush on Chujin (see why I call him Gay Boy?) but, yknow, he kinda can't act on his feelings on account of Chujin being happily married, so he bottles his feelings up, after all, if Chujin is happy, he's happy! He's still a family friend after all, he'll be okay, if a little jealous.
Then Chujin dies. Oh boy then Chujin dies. He really goes off the deep end here. He's already been bottling up very aggressive feelings of love for years now, only for the person he was both pining for and genuinely good friends with to die, tragically, and the rest of the family fall apart soon after. He continued to bottle up his feelings, more and more, skipping work often to either stay home and drink, or go to a bar to drink, either way, he ended up passed out, only to wake up just as sad and repressed as before. It didn't help that he never felt like it was "his turn" to grieve, there were people closer to him, so he'd let them grieve before he could. It was never "his turn."
He has a soul trait attached to him, like if he had a boss fight, that being Patience, the thing that was ultimately his downfall. He never confessed when he had the chance in high school or fresh in the workforce, he never got it out while Chujin was still alive, and he never allowed himself grief after he died. He spiraled further and further until he quit his dream job, and moved to Snowdin, opening up a little curiosity shop where he'd sell the remaining things he made on the side during his career, and when he isn't at his shop, he's at home, drinking until he can't walk straight and can barely speak, only managing to sob.
Oh the things that come from never properly expressing your feelings when you had the chance.
Anyways uh yeah! I don't have lots of art of him or a proper reference, I'll make that later, so uhhh, take some assorted doodles of him
Thinking about Eleventh Hour from OneShot and how it makes me FFFFFFFFFFEel.
It’s a downtrodden song, sure, but it has just the amount of comforting ambiance to push you forward. It sounds dire, and the name of the song implies that the end is nigh, but *something* is keeping you going when even the world itself has stopped being able to function. Most instruments have an echoing to them, like the piano and the synth(?) at the beginning, exhibiting a feeling of loneliness, but there’s parts where the guitar shines through, creating a feeling of comfort, like someone in the midst of a storm, assuring you that it will all be okay.
To celebrate OFF's recent announcement of Fangamer merch (and because I had an assignment in class) I created an OFF Christmas card! Look at them, all happy and alive!
I post for an imaginary audience and fucking LOVE OneShot and Inscryption.
