An excerpt from a special edition of Smash Hits released as promo for Derry Girls series 3 in 2022. This page explains the step by step dance for "Rock the Boat" by The Hues Corporation as featured in series 2, episode 4 of Derry Girls.

Nothing gets a party started quite like Rock The Boat (originally recorded by The Hues Corporation, fact fans). It's officially one of the Derry Girls' favourite songs ever. Orla kindly took on the challenge of giving a step-by-step guide to doing the dance moves that will make you look smooth.

Step 1 is "Warm up. We've seen many an injury during Rock the Boat in our time. Best to limber up with some stretches first."

Step 2 is "Sit Down. Park your arse on the floor."

Step 3 is "Flying without wings. Time to start rocking that boat! Lean to the right and move your right arm towards the floor. Wave your left hand in the air like you just don't care. Then...Repeat the moves on the other side."

Step 4 is "Sail away. Get ready to row your invisible boat - put arms straight out and clench your fists while leaning forward."

Step 5 is "Lean on me. With your fists still clenched, lean back and bend your arms as if you're pulling on some oars. Your elbows can either stay by your side, or if you're feeling a bit 'woah', you can push them back, making sure you don't hit the person behind you (unless you really don't like them, that is)."

Step 6 is "Keep on movin'. Repeat several times, and remember you're sailing with a cargo full of love and devotion!"

Step 7 is "Hit the floor. Slap the floor on one side of you, then clap your hands above your head before slapping the floor on the other side. But don't tip the boat over!"

Step 8 is "Are we nearly there yet? Do the whole routine all over again - yes, really - till the song ends."

A reminder that Glinda having either dyslexia/dysgraphia or a learning disability is canon in the Movieverse.

This is the same paper that we see her get back in this scene, in which we can see this was a large essay too.

A Reminder That Glinda Having Either Dyslexia/dysgraphia Or A Learning Disability Is Canon In The Movieverse.

There's nothing rushed to her handwriting, this was not an essay done at the last minute, and still, it shows several signs of a learning disability and/or dysgraphia.

Misspells her name in the second line

Wrong and inconsistent pronoun usage

Her margin spacing is consistent with someone who can't do proper syllable division

Immature transcription (see: writes her "um"s)

Limited vocabulary

Shows signs of: difficulty expressing ideas in writing, having a limited vocabulary, mispronouncing words or using a wrong word that sounds similar, and having trouble organizing what she wants to say. Those are all symptoms of a learning disability.

Less of a checklist sign, but her handwriting is very round and careful, while still not being consistently sized (see unfashionable). This and the margin sizes are very common in kids with bad dysgraphia who are made to take rigorous calligraphy courses to "fix the problem". Courses that work on the visual without remedying its underlying issues and causes. Form over content if you will.

Looking at this very blatant sign that she has a learning disability and immediately defaulting to calling her names (yes calling her stupid and saying Elphaba is a moronsexual for this counts), asking how she got into Shiz, or defending Dillamond in doing the very first thing teachers are told NOT to do with disabled students (re: calling attention to it in front of the entire class) is ableist!
