This is my mood right now

A man stared down at his team in a waterlogged ditch, collecting evidence for their newest case. He frowned as one of them moved, revealing to him the gruesome remains of the victim reported not even an hour before. How many others had been found in this exact way during this month? Four? Five? Maybe more? He had stopped counting.
âDetective Noir, weâll need to send some DNA to the lab in order to identify the victim. There arenât any personal belongings anywhere to give us her name.â The man nodded, giving an order to the others to take what they could to the lab and autopsy room.Â
Noir took one last look at the human remains before turning away. If he wasnât used to seeing this kind of stuff by now, he surely wouldâve thrown up upon first glance. He climbed into the car he arrived in, quickly collecting the tail of his trench coat and closing the door. The inside of the vehicle was cool, the shade of the many trees surrounding the crime scene keeping the summer heat from turning his car into some kind of oven.
He sighed softly, leaning against the driverâs seat. So many people had been found dead in such a short period of time. It hadnât even been a month since the first reported victim of this mass murderer. More and more bodies were being found every few days, up to a week at most. It was now just over four weeks into July and now this killer was ruining what was left of a wonderful summer.
Noir placed his fedora on the passenger seat before starting up the carâs engine and driving off. Normally, heâd be able to enjoy the luscious green scenery of the forest, but death really took a toll on oneâs mental state. He wasnât happy nor in the mood to enjoy the pleasantries of nature at that moment. No, Noir Iplier was pissed off.
âHow sick can someone be to kill so many people without any sign of stopping, and in such a cruel way?âHe thought, gripping the steering wheel angrily.âGunshots and knife wounds are one thing, cutting open the victim and stealing body parts is the mark of a maniac. No one can figure out who in the world is behind this killing spree, and itâs something that keeps me at the office late into the night, searching, praying for something, anything that could link victims or places together. Still, nothing comes up.â
Arriving at the agency, the trenchcoat clad man walked in, frustrated with a mind that spun with unanswered questions. âDetective Iplier, in my office.â came the voice of the director from upstairs, interrupting the flow of thoughts and emotions. Noir wondered if he was in trouble for not solving this case yet, but as he entered the large office, he realized that might not be the case at all.
There, on a chair near his bossâs desk, sat a beautiful woman dressed in a gray semi-vest and pants with a white, long sleeved, button down shirt. âShe looked at me curiously, silently studying my persona. I was doing the same, admiring her shining (e/c) eyes and beautiful (h/c) hair. She was a spectacle of beauty, this woman, and I couldnât help but wonder what she was doing here.â
âNoir, this is Detective (L/n). Miss (L/n), this is Detective Iplier. You two will be partners till this case is done.â Both of the investigators were quite surprised as they looked at their chief in shock and confusion. âWeâve decided that we need two thinkers on this case and you two seem like you could work together nicely.â
âAs much of an honor to be working alongside Mr. Iplier in this case, weâve never met before this point in time. Are you sure that weâre compatible enough to work together?â Asked the (h/c) woman, sparing a glance at her new colleague. âIâm sure youâll do fine, now go and get to work.âÂ
The two of them were kicked out of the office and they stood outside of the doorway, not quite sure what to do. âUmm.. so, hi?â said Noir awkwardly, hoping to break the tension. âHi, uh. Nice to meet you, Detective Ipier.âÂ
âPlease, call me Noir. Everyone else does.âÂ
âAlright then, call me (Y/n).â
âAlright you two,â came a new voice, belonging to one of the fellow crime solvers near Noirâs own desk. âWe have some new info on the latest victim.â The pair walked over to the man named Anthony, who had called them over. A large screen nearby had photographs and files displayed.Â
âAlright you two,â Said Anthony, enlarging a pair of images. âThis is Mariah Smith, she was identified as the first victim by her friends. She had no criminal record and died on July 6th. Her body was found by some of her friends in a clearing when they met her for a camping trip in the forest. Needless to say, she didnât get to attend.â
Anthony clicked a button and the images were replaced with a new file. âTrevor Evansâ He continued. âFound dead during the cleanup of the city fair. Day of death was July 10th. His family went looking for him after failed contact and ended up finding his body.â He brought up more pictures and files, explaining each death and their locations.Â
âSo far, five victims, including the one you found not even an hour ago, Noir. The only constants being the way they were found.â
âYup, and itâs absolutely disgusting.â Replied the male detective and (Y/n) looked at him in confusion. âCare to elaborate?â
Anthony and Noir glanced at each other and both grimaced. âUmm.. well, Iâm pretty sure the most recent bodyâs currently in the autopsy room, but the sight isnât exactly pleasant.âÂ
âHow bad can it be? I mean, itâs nothing but a bunch of cuts right? Iâve seen worse.âÂ
âWell..â
âOi, you two stop chit chatting and get out there. Another bodyâs been found in an ice cream parlor. 13 Main Street.â The pair of detectives looked at each other, quickly grabbing their equipment, and running out to Noirâs car. âLooks like youâll find out what it looks like soon enough.âÂ
The quick drive to the parlor was tense and when they arrived, they were met by a large mob of people. Apparently, word traveled fast about the murder and people from all over town seemed to be in the crowd. âWhy would they want to willingly see a dead body?â Asked, (Y/n) as she and Noir attempted to enter the parlor.
âWell, weâre here arenât we? DETECTIVES EVERYONE! OUT OF THE WAY!â The crowd parted and some police officers escorted the two into the building. âWe thought at first that it couldâve been just an accident, but after a quick examination, weâve determined otherwise.â One reported as he opened the door to the machines in the back. There was a heavily damaged corpse being carefully transferred from beside an ice cream machine to a body bag.Â
The machine in question was broken. Large slashes destroyed the back of it, revealing the mechanical innards. The cold desert it should have produced not only spilled onto the body but on the surrounding floor, turning the vanilla bean sludge into a gruesome mixture of red and tan.
Noir looked at his partner just in time to see her stagger back in shock, horror, and disgust. She honestly looked like she might vomit. âVictim number six, sir, maâam. We have a genuine serial killer on the loose.âÂ
âI hoped it wouldnât go to that. It appears we havenât been fast enough with our investigations, especially considering that this is the second body we found today.âÂ
âThe body,â thought Noir, âWas downright disturbing to look at, and it took a lot of willpower not to run to the menâs room and lose my lunch. Looking at my partner, she too was struggling in the same way. Sheâs certainly never seen something like this before. I honestly envy and admire her. This would be too much for the average rookie, but sheâs certainly no beginner detective. If sheâs stuck around this room this long, sheâs either really brave, or she too has seen some gruesome things. On the body, other than the obvious cuts and bruises, there was incredibly torn skin. No, it wasnât like the peeling skin that someone would get from a bad sunburn, it was cut open widenly, and where some innards were supposed to be, well.. they simply werenât there.âÂ
âDid this girl die from blood loss or something else?â (Y/n) asked, her eyes darting back and forth from the corpse and one of the officers. âLikely blood loss, however itâs always on the table for something else considering the damage.â She nodded and took a deep breath before taking some surgical gloves out of her bag and poking around the body.
âSome vital organs are missing. Looks like the kidneys and heart are gone amongst other things.â she observed, frowning. âBut why? And if she was attacked, did no one hear any yells for help? I donât see any strangle marks. Maybe some punch bruises, but nothing indicating choking or anything like that.â The officer shook his head sadly, replying, âThe shop closed down for the day about an hour ago. A witness noticed the door was broken, so he called us thinking that it was a simple robbery. When we got here and noticed the body, we called you two. Nothing was stolen either, except for some of the victimâs internals.â
âDid the young lady have her name tag on when you found her?â Asked Noir and the officer frowned. âNope. Donât know if it was taken or just somewhere else in the shop. Either way, tag or no tag, we can still identify the victim via her employee file. You two can probably find it in the managerâs office.â
âGood idea.â Noir responded, motioning for (Y/n) to follow him. She happily left the room, discarding the blood-covered gloves into an evidence bag. âNow I know why you and Anthony were giving each other that look. I canât believe someone would do something to that extent. If she wasnât dead before, she certainly is now.âÂ
âAll the bodies are like that. Not necessarily covered in melted ice cream, but certainly cut open and gutted. Some more than others.â Noir responded grimly as he entered the managerâs office. It looked well kept and clean, which was a good change of scenery from the morbid crime scene they had previously been observing.Â
After a few minutes of searching through different folders in a filing cabinet, the pair found someone who looked relatively close to the girl being taken away in the body bag. âSarah Gray, 19 years old. Her job at the parlor was only active for the summer so she was probably going to leave for college soon.â Said Noir, reading off information on the paper with a frown. âDang.. she was so young.. Oh! I just realized that the murder itself was summer related so it matches up with the rest of the victims.â
âWhat?â
âThink about it, Noir. Camping with friends, the city fair, an ice cream parlor, the list goes on. So far, every single one of the victims was doing something related to summer vacation.â
âIf there was a lightbulb in my head, it definitely wouldâve lit up.â Though Noir as his eyes widened in realization. âOh my gosh..â (Y/n) looked at him in confusion then her jaw dropped as she suddenly understood his thoughts. They both hurried out of the office, file in hand, and sped off toward home base.
âAnthony!â Shouted Noir, running into the workspace and startling his friend from his nap. âH-huh? What? Did you figure it out?âÂ
âAre there any big summer events coming up? Or even other summer-related places that people would go to in this area?â Anthony didnât look impressed. âYou woke me up to ask about vacation plans?â
âNo, you idiot. All of the murders have been found before, after, or during summer related things. If there is something big coming up, this might be our big chance!â The message was quickly received and he began typing away at his keyboard.Â
âLucky for you guys, the circus is in town. The big show is tomorrow at around 5 PM.â There was a moment of silence before the two detectives nodded at each other. âLooks like there might be one final victim before summer ends. I take it youâll be joining me?â Noir asked, the woman beside him and she nodded, a smirk on her face. âIâm your partner arenât I? You wonât be taking down this psycho on your own.â
âThen I guess Iâll be seeing you tomorrow.âÂ
âItâs a date.â With that, (Y/n) took her coat and walked out of the office. The male detective watched her leave, a small blush on his handsome face. âA⌠date?âÂ
âNoir, may I have a word with you?â Asked a voice which snapped him out of his stupor. âH-huh? Oh, um yes.â Turning around, he noticed the medical examiner, Mason Jacobs. The two of them walked and talked to the autopsy room.Â
âI was observing some of the rip marks on the victims. Iâve been trying to identify them for quite some time, but never came up with a decisive conclusion. However, I think I might have a winner.â Noir nodded, also rather curious as to what could leave the victims in such terrible conditions. Mason led him to a computer with a picture of a wicked looking knife on the screen.Â
âA belly ripper. Itâs a hunting knife used for skinning prey, like deer and fish. I did some more research into what the wounds from this kind of weapon looks like. On the normal side, itâs a clean cut, but with the curved gut hook here, itâs not as accurate. It tears the skin, making the incision wider and uneven. This is why it was difficult to identify the weapon in the first place, because itâs similar to other knives.â
Mason turned to look at Noir with a gri look on his face. âThe wounds themselves remind me of a serial killer from 1888 who also tore up his victims. The only difference being that he only killed prostitute women, our new killer seems to be killing both sexes for fun, rather than really having a reason. Then again, a constant thing with the victims are the missing vitals. But what exactly would someone want with someoneâs innards?â
âMost likely to sell them. They sell for very high if you know where to look, and youâre telling me that weâre dealing with a new kind of Jack the Ripper?â Asked Noir, looking at his friend with a frown. âI would assume so, though we have no information on this person at all.â
âThat is until now!â A cheerful voice from the doorway said and the two turned to see the female lab worker, Gabby. âHi guys! So it would seem that our killer was a little sloppy with his latest victim. After studying some of the blood that the police sampled from the ground. After managing to separate the blood from the ice cream, Iâm proud to say that there were two types of blood in the sample. It would appear that Sarah managed to do some damage before expiring.â
âWait seriously?â Exclaimed Noir in shock, looking at the woman. âCan you match the blood to a person?â She looked away, frowning. âNot quite yet. It needs some more time to process. What we know right now is that our killer is an AB+ blood type male.â
âI knew that this little bit of information was helpful, but until it was finished processing, (Y/n) and I would just be left guessing in a crowd of people tomorrow.â Noir thought before looking up at the forensics worker.
âI guess weâll have to share all the info with (Y/n) when we get it. Right, Gabby?â She nodded with a smile, turning around and returning to the lab. âThen, I suppose thatâs all that we can do for now. You go and get a good rest, my friend. Youâll need it for your âdateâ tomorrow.â The medical examiner with a smile. âYou.. heard all that didnât you?â
âEvery bit of it. Have a good night!â Noir left the lab blushing and returned home with a mind full of jumbled thoughts.Â
-timeskip-
When he arrived back at the office the following day, the male detective was dressed in a red and black checkered hoodie and black pants. He couldnât accurately remember the last time he had gone undercover in normal clothes. It was honestly kinda nice, especially with the feeling of autumn right around the corner, his attire just made him comfy and relaxed.Â
âOh what an honor to see Mister Iplier dressed like this.â commented Gabby as he entered the room. She stood beside Anthony at his desk, eyeing Noir up and down with a smile. âHaha, very funny. Iâm allowed to dress how I like for this mission. Anyway, whereâs (Y/n)? Is she here yet?â
âYup, sorry if I kept you waiting.â When he turned around to greet her, his jaw dropped in awe.
(Y/n) was dressed in a black t-shirt and pants, with a tan jacket and Roman sandal shoes. Noir was blown away, not exactly expecting her to look so.. amazing in normal clothes. âLookin good, Detective.â He said, rubbing the back of his neck as he admired her. She blushed and smiled, âYou donât look bad yourself.âÂ
âI could feel my face heating up and prayed that she wouldn't notice it. Unfortunately, Anthony was giving me âthe lookâ indicating that he certainly did.â Thought Noir as he struggled not to grin like an idiot.Â
âAlright love birds, the results for the blood samples came in.â Said Gabby, smirking at the interaction. â(Y/n), you didnât know this cause we kept Mister Fancy Pants here for a few more minutes than you. The blood sample that the police retrieved contained two different peopleâs DNA. One of them belongs to our victim, and the other belongs to our potential killer.â
Anthony brought up a picture of a scruffy looking man with blond hair and brown eyes. âThis is Maximilian Stevens. Heâs a 27 year old male and a former criminal. After spending 5 years in prison for a failed armed robbery and kidnapping, he was let out with Parole for three years. Heâs been completely free for around six months.â
âAnd his blood was found at the crime scene? Thatâs rough, he was finally free.â Said (Y/n) with a frown. âIf heâs our killer, why would he do it? Is there any motive?âÂ
âWell,â said Mason, walking into the room to join them. âConsidering what keeps disappearing at the crime scenes, Iâd say heâs out for money. Selling body parts, specifically healthy and undamaged innards, sell for impressive amounts of money.â
âThat might be our motive, but we wonât know until we bring him in. Thatâs where we come in. If we see him at the circus, then weâll escort him here for questioning.â Said Noir, offering his arm out to (Y/n). âSo, shall we head out?â She grabbed onto him, nodding, and as they left the room, Gabby called after them. âHave fun, you two!âÂ
The car ride to the circus wasnât as tense as the day before, but the passengers were still anxious. Both detectives were hoping that things wouldnât get messy during confrontation, but hoping would get them nowhere. âWe have our guns, which we have special clearance for, but we shouldnât bring them out unless thereâs something actually serious.âÂ
âRight, but if we never see him and thereâs another victim or two, weâd better pray that they were fighters because another blood sample could be conclusive evidence.â Discussions like this went on for a good portion of the trip, the rest being filled with thoughtful silence, however, there was a strange feeling in that vehicle for the entire trip.
âIt was like someone was whispering sweet things in my ear that made my heart grow wings and fly around in my chest. It was a pleasant feeling, though I didnât quite know what it was. I had to keep myself from looking over at (Y/n), not wanting to look too strange. Then again, there was no harm in checking a beautiful woman out, right?âÂ
This kind of dialog flowed through Noirâs mind as he caught sight of the red and white tent and the smell of roasted peanuts, popcorn, and cotton candy filled the air, making both of their mouths water and their stomachs growl. âCurse carnival food,â laughed (Y/n) as her partner parked the car. âIt always smells its absolute best when you know you canât get any.âÂ
âAinât that the truth.â Agreed Noir, the two of them exiting the vehicle and walking toward the entrance. He passed her a small earpiece that she hid from view behind some of her hair. Thankfully, they would inform the police if something was happening and they made it easier to hear each other over the commotion.Â
Children were laughing and adults talking amongst themselves while watching over them, animals of all kinds could be heard, barking, roaring, trumpting, and chirping, all while bells rang loudly and vendors announced their products. Every single noise accumulated into a cacophony that was only slightly irritating to listen to.
The two detectives were a bit overwhelmed with the sounds and smells, but tried to keep a clear head as they chatted. They looked around, eyeing every person in their sights, but they still didnât see anyone who looked like Maximillian. (Y/n) suddenly noticed two guests going between two tents and out of sight and she told Noir to keep looking. âIâll let you know if I need backup.â He nodded and watched as she followed the figure and disappeared from view.Â
Unfortunately for her, however, the guests just turned out to be a teenage boy and his girlfriend. They were finding a hidden place to calm down because the girlfriend was starting to have a panic attack. (Y/n) didnât dare interrupt them, as she knew that it was a private moment between the two, but she stuck around, hidden, to make sure nothing happened. Eventually, the girlfriend calmed down and they were able to leave and rejoin the carnival.Â
When (Y/n) left, she tried to find Noir amongst the crowd but when she spotted him, her eyes widened. He was being flocked by a ton of girls and women. Poor Noir looked so uncomfortable as he tried to get away, but the group followed him, continuing to ask him questions like if he was single or if they could get his number. (Y/n) felt an unknown emotion blossom in her chest and with a small huff of annoyance, she quickly walked over to the small crowd.Â
âGeez, Babe,â She spoke up, suddenly gaining the other femalesâ attention. âI keep forgetting how much of a chick magnet you are. Sorry I took so long. Are you okay?â The group made way for her as she walked toward her partner and she smiled. Noirâs face had turned red after the pet name was spoken, and realized she was giving him an opening. âYeah Iâm okay. Thanks. Sorry if I worried you.âÂ
âNo, itâs okay,â she responded. âI trust you.â (Y/n) smiled at him again, and then turned to the crowd. âThanks for keeping him company.â As she led him away, the two of them could hear the group talking among themselves.Â
âI didnât realize he had a girlfriend, or wife? I canât tell, but they look so cute together.âÂ
âLucky girl. They must be really close. Iâm honestly jealous.â
âDang I wish a boy would look at me the way they look at each other.â
When they were a good distance away, Noir spoke up, still blushing. âBabe? I didnât realize that we were dating, not that I mind.â His partner blushed, âWow, at least ask me out to dinner before you go saying that. I saw that you were uncomfortable, so I was covering for you.â
âReally? Because you absolutely sold it.â Before (Y/n) could respond, they both spotted a figure in the crowd. A scruffy looking man with blond hair who made eye contact with them and began walking faster. âNoir..?âÂ
âI saw him too. Câmon.â
They began to run after the man, calling after him to stop while Noir started talking to the police via the earpiece. âSuspect is a medium sized blond male. Heâs heading toward the merry-go-round.â The man in question was pushing people out of the way to go through the crowd quicker, but this provided small openings for the detectives to run through. âUse the spaces between the tents!â Called Noir, motioning to his partner. âCut him off!âÂ
(Y/n) nodded and ran through the passage, doing her best to not stumble or trip on the stakes in the ground during her pursuit. She managed to barely get ahead of the suspect but was caught off guard when he suddenly threw his arms around her, pinning her arms to her sides as he pulled out a knife with a curved hook on part of the blade, holding it to her throat, and leading her back between the tents.
When Noir turned the corner, he was dismayed to find that he couldnât see either his partner or the suspect. â(Y/n)? Where are you? Did you catch him?â Some police officers caught up to him as he finally got a reply.
âBehind the tent! He has a knife-â The communication through the earpiece suddenly died and Noirâs heart skipped a beat. Motioning to the officers, they found an opening and rushed over to a wider space where they found the man, Maximilian Stevens, holding (Y/n) captive.Â
âStay back. I wonât hesitate to kill her.â Noir pulled out his gun and aimed it at Max with a glare. âIâll shoot you before you have the chance. Drop the weapon and let her go.â The blond man sneered evilly and brought the blade closer, (Y/n)âs breathing becoming shakier with fear as she struggled to keep calm all while the officers ordered the man to set her free, but their efforts were in vain.
She looked at Noir, her (e/c) eyes filling with small tears. She had been afraid of this, not being able to protect herself, but she couldnât do much in this situation. Yes, she had been trained in many things concerning self-defense, but at the moment, her thoughts were jumbled and as the knife touched her skin, just barely cutting it, a vision flashed before her eyes.
It was Noir, he smiled at her kindly from the other side of a table. In his hands was a cup of coffee. The scene shifted and there he was again, only this time the two of them were watching a movie, Noirâs arm was around her and her head was laid down on his shoulder. A new vision formed, this time it was Noir at the end of a church aisle, dressed in a tux while tears of joy cascaded down his cheeks. (Y/n) seemed to be walking closer and closer to him, a bouchette of flowers in her hands.Â
She snapped back to reality and as she looked at her partner, the worry in his chocolate brown eyes (Y/n) realized just how much was on the line. Not just her life, but Noirâs, and the lives of so many other innocent people. Noir and the officers put their guns down, not wanting anymore blood to be shed and Max laughed. âPathetic. I knew you all were clever, but Iâll always have the upper hand. I learned quite a lot during my time in prison and itâs sure coming in handy now.â
âWhy are you doing this? Why would you kill so many people and harvest them?â Demanded (Y/n), her hand struggling to find its way to the gun hidden in her jacket.Â
âEasy: money. So what if some people have to die? They were just going to die eventually, so why not just make it sooner and sell their good insides for a boatload of cash? Iâm doing a good thing in that case. People sometimes need transplants, so if what Iâm selling gets to them, then Iâm doing a good deed. You canât arrest me for doing good deeds. Speaking of, I believe that youâll make a good couple thousand dollars. Kidneys are in high demand, and I could always use a heart and liver. And the best part is that these gentlemen and I will be the only ones to hear you scream.âÂ
He brought the knife up higher, piercing (Y/n)âs throat just enough for a good blood flow to start running down and staining her outfit. Noir was furious as he heard her let out a small cry of pain and wanted to strangle the man in front of him. The officers shifted uncomfortably and they tried to figure out what to do but then Noir noticed his allyâs weapon.Â
(Y/n) leaned forward slightly, the knife digging into her neck a little more before she suddenly threw her head back, headbutting MAx right in the nose with a sickening crunch. He let out a loud yelp of pain, bringing the knife outward and tearing some more skin, but letting her go and trying to nurse his extremely bloody nose. With that, the others had scooped up their guns off the ground and watched as the female detective kicked the knife out of the suspectâs hand and drew her own gun, pointing it at his face.
âDown on the ground, hands where we can see them. Maximilian Stevens, you are under arrest for assault, attempted kidnapping, illegal selling of internal organs, and the murder of six people.âÂ
Within seconds, Max was in handcuffs and being led outside, but not before trying to get one final kill in then promptly being tazed. Noir ran to (Y/n) who was trying to apply pressure to the heavily bleeding wound. âAre you okay.. No wait. Sorry, stupid question. You need to get to a hospital ASAP.â Fortunately, there was an ambulance at this event and she was quickly rushed away, her faithful partner sitting in the back with her, holding her hand as paramedics tried to slow the bleeding.Â
Hours later, the two detectives sat together in a hospital room, (Y/n)âs neck stitched up and bandaged. âYou were great out there.â Noir said, smiling at his companion who returned the smile, sleepily. âThanks. Sorry I couldnât do too much. You were the real hero. It was an honor working with you, Detective Iplier.âÂ
âYou act like this is the last time weâll work together.â She looked at him sadly. âWell, I was transferred to your agency to help solve the case. Now that itâs over, Iâll have to go back.â The thought of her leaving made Noirâs heart pang. âWell.. what if you could potentially stay here.. Indefinitely?â (Y/n) looked at him curiously. âWhat do you mean?âÂ
âWell,â he said, rubbing his neck nervously. âI could probably talk to the office director about a permanent transfer.. Itâs not 100% guaranteed that youâd stay, but itâs still on the table.â
âNoir,â she murmured with a small smile. âIâd love that. Iâd love to keep working with you.âÂ
âAnd Iâm way ahead of you,'' said a voice from the doorway and the two of them turned to see the office director. âI heard about what happened and Iâve already talked to your boss about you possibly staying. When youâre all better, the paperwork can be signed and youâll officially work for me and you two can be a team. You both work well together and this could help us solve crimes much faster.â
âThen Iâd better hurry up and get better.â Laughed (Y/n) softly and the other two couldnât help but smile. Noir took her hand, looking her in the eyes with a fluttering heart. âThen itâs a deal, partner. Whatâcha say about, when you leave the hospital, you and I go out and celebrate with some coffee?â Her eyes glossed over for a second and then her cheeks turned a vibrant shade of red.
â... Itâs a date, partner.â
Happy belated Easter everyone! Here's Android 21!

~(Y/n)'s POV~
As Uncle Stanley led us through the house, I couldn't help but look around at the weird stuff. It was clearly a very used living space, well worn by many years. And decorated by many curiosities. It was rather unnerving to be honest.
"Well kids, this is where you'll be staying for the summer. By the way, you can call me Grunkle Stan." Said our relative, leading us up a flight of stairs to some rooms. "This room will be for the twins," he said, pointing to a room with a large triangle shaped window and two beds. "And this room," said Grunkle Stan opening a door to a room with only one bed and a rectangle shaped window, "will be yours, uhhh..." he look at me guiltily. "Sorry, I guess I didnt get your names."
"It's fine," I said nonchalantly, "I'm (Y/n), and these are my younger siblings, Dipper and Mable Pines." Grunkle Stan smiled and nodded, "Alright then, (Y/n), this will be your room. I assumed since you're older you'd want a room to yourself." I couldn't help but smile at his generosity, "Thanks."
After separating to our different rooms and getting unpacked I suggested the idea of getting familiar with the town. Mable was all for it and Dipper shrugged. "Sure. Why not." Grunkle Stan agreed to go with us because he needed groceries anyway.
I would be lying if I said I didn't like the town. I really didn't get attached to the place all at once and with good reason. The people there were really nice but they gave me the willies. Just something about this town and its citizens was off. Like there was something huge I was missing
I would be lying if I said I didn't like the town. I really didn't get attached to the place all at once and with good reason. The people there were really nice but they gave me the willies. Just something about this town and its citizens was off. Like there was something huge I was missing... but what?
When Grunkle Stan was finally done, we headed back to the Mystery Shack. As days flew by, we learned a little bit more about our new residence. The mystery shack was a Self-Made tourist trap made by Grunkle Stan and guess who needed to earn their keep around the place. That's right, Us.
I grew increasingly bored with the same old pattern of stocking shelves, sweeping the floors, and keeping Mable away from all the boys her age that came into the shack. Dipper also was worked really hard, and Mable? Not so much. She seemed to have all the free time in the world. That's what you get for acting positive and cute all the time.
"Mable," said Dipper as he washed a jar of (hopefully) fake eyeballs, "I know you're going through your whole Boy-Crazy phase, but I think you're overdoing it with the crazy part." Mable looked away from the boy she was watching. "What?? Naww. Come on Dipper, this is our first summer away from home! It's my big chance at an epic summer romance." Dipper and I looked at her like she was crazy. "But do you HAVE to flirt with every guy you meet?" I shivered at the memories.
"Mock all you want guys," she said, shaking a finger, "but I've got a good feeling about this summer. I wouldn't be surprised if the man of my dreams walked through that door right now." As she pointed toward the door she spoke of, Grunkle Stan walked through carrying some wooden signs and let out a loud belch.
A disappointed and disgusted Mable let out a groan as Dipper and I laughed. "Aright look alive people," said Grunkle Stan, "I need someone to go and hammer these signs around the spooky part of the forest." One by one, Mable, Dipper, and I said "Not it." The handyman in the back said, "Uh, also not it" as well. "Nobody asked you Soos." Said the old man, as Soos looked up from his work. "I know, and I'm comfortable with that." He took a happy bite from his chocolate bar.
(Y/n) felt horrible. No matter what or how much she did it wasnât enough, at least not in his eyes. Mack was cruel, always acting high and mighty, criticizing everyone no matter how they did. She didnât understand what his problem was.Â
(Y/n) knew that the more she tried to prove herself worthy of her title, the more it tolled her body. She was exhausted, mentally and physically, but she just kept working. She needed to or else she would feel lazy and Mack would likely bug her again about âLetting him take control because clearly the job of Captain was too much work for someone like her.â
âIâll prove him wrong.â She thought, making her way to the control room. With every step she took, her eyelids started to droop and her vision swirled. âI need to.. stay awake.. need to.. I need to be.. worthy of.. CaptainâŚâÂ
Her foot dragged and caught on an imperfection on the floor, causing (Y/n) to stumble and fall. âI should fix that.â She thought as her head hit the floor and everything went black.
Mack looked around his foot tapping the ground in irritation. âWhere is she?â He had called (Y/n) for a status update but she still hadnât arrived. It had been 10 minutes. âThe ship isnât that big. Maybe sheâs sleeping, that lazy girl.â
As he tapped the ping button on his arm tablet, the head nurse for the Medbay walked into the room. âHead Engineer Mack,â she greeted him, âI saw that you were trying to contact the Captain so I came here to-â
âWait wait,â interrupted Mack with a frown and a raised eyebrow. âHow could you see that I was contacting her?âÂ
âThatâs what Iâm trying to tell you, sir.â She continued, looking at him worriedly. âSheâs in Medbay. I found her passed out in the hallway.â Mackâs eyes widened. Quickly walking past the nurse, he began moving toward the Medbay. He could barely hear and register what the nurse was saying over the pounding of his heart ringing in his ears.
He didnât know why he was in such a hurry. He and the Captain werenât really that close, but he still found himself rushing to be at her side. He was worried, but didnât completely understand why.
When the door to Medbay opened, Mack was met by the sight of (Y/n) lying in a sick bed, the sound of a heart monitor beeping rhythmically in the background. Her helmet was placed in a chair nearby, her head wrapped with a few bandages. She looked so peaceful, like she was just fast asleep.
âStop it,â Mack thought, mentally slapping himself. âSheâs not dead, just unconscious. He turned to the nurse. âHow long do you think sheâs been out for?â
âMaybe half an hour, sir.â She said pressing a button and bringing up a scan. âShe did suffer a good hard blow to the head, likely when she hit the ground, but she seemed to have collapsed due to mal-nurishment and exhaustion.âÂ
The Head Engineer was having some trouble understanding what he was hearing. âMal-nurishment and exhaustion? So she wasnât eating or sleeping?â The nurse confirmed his suspicion and he took a seat by the bed.Â
âSir, what are you doing?â
âIâm staying here. According to your chart and studies, sheâll wake up soon. When she does, Iâm going to have a few words with her.â
The nurse nodded and left the room, leaving Mack and the unconscious Captain alone. He watched her, noticing how tired she actually looked. (Y/n) had dark circles under her eyes, something he hadnât noticed before which wasnât his fault.Â
She always had that helmet on. She hid herself behind her uniform and rarely revealed herself to anyone. The last time Mack had seen (Y/n)âs face was by complete accident. He had walked in on her taking a breather in the shipâs greenhouse. After that, she seemed to be more careful not to let people see her.
âWhat have you been doing, (Y/n)?â He asked her unresponsive figure, not expecting a response and not receiving one. He never took his Captain to be so uncaring about her own well-being. Yes, he had heard possibly fake stories about her valor and bravery from the rest of the crew, but the unconscious figure in front of him seemed to be someone different from those tall tales.
A few minutes passed before (Y/n) woke up. She seemed disoriented, her (e/c) eyes scanning the room before settling on her helmet. Realizing she was exposed, (Y/n) reached for it weakly before noticing the IV connected to her arm.
âWhat the heck?â
âI wouldnât move much if I were you. Youâre going to hurt yourself or end up breaking something.â
(Y/n) recognized that voice and felt her heart skip a beat out of fear. Mack was the only one who could really scare her, though the fear came more from his potentially hurtful words than from him being there.
âWhy are you here, Head Engineer?â She asked, resting her body back on the comfortable mattress. âWhy are you neglecting your basic needs?â (Y/n) shot up in bed. âWh-what?! What are you talking abou~ WoahâŚâ She held her head as it panged painfully, her vision blurring and turning white for a few seconds before clearing up.
âI told you to stay down, also, Iâm talking about something that the nurse informed me about. Why havenât you been eating or sleeping?â (Y/n) wasnât exactly sure of how much he actually knew and decided to play dumb. âI donât know what youâre talking about.â
Mack slammed his hand on the seat next to him, (Y/n) tensing in fright and the heart monitor picking up speed alongside her heart. âCut the bullcrap, (Y/n)!â Her eyes widened and she stared at him. He never used her real name unless something was seriously wrong.
âThe nurse told me that you collapsed most likely due to mal-nurishment and exhaustion. That is far too serious a matter to be playing dumb. Tell me why youâre not taking care of yourself?â
(Y/n) didnât reply. She knew if she answered he would probably start arguing that she was âbeing childishâ and that she wasnât worthy of the title of Captain. If he brought up that topic again, (Y/n) feared what she would day out of anger. One wrong word or step and she could be demoted and thrown out of the air lock by her own crew, the people she worked so hard to protect on their way to the designated colonization planet.Â
She didnât even realize that tears had begun to fall in a slow river down her face until they landed on the sheets covering her lap. âAnd now youâre crying! What a great way to show how brave and strong and wonderful you are, Captain.â The way he said it made her want to go back into her nap-like coma.Â
âIf this is the way youâre going to treat yourself and keep getting knocked out, itâs probably better if I be handed the position of Captain. At least Iâd get the work done without causing trouble for everyone else.â
âSTOP IT! JUST STOP IT! FOR ONCE, JUST SHUT UP!!â (Y/n) covered her mouth in shock at what she just said. She knew that sheâd snap, she was right, and now fat tears fell down her face even faster. Mack looked at her in shock. He had never heard her yell before, and with such words. She had always listened to everyoneâs words patiently. No matter what was said, she never reacted to them in such a manner.Â
She tried to cover up her uncontrollable sobs with the hands over her mouth, but Mack could still hear them. He felt bad. He wasn't used to people having a meltdown after he spoke. Knowing that he was the cause of his Captain's distress, well.. he didn't like the feelings that gave him.Â
"Captain.. I-"
"No.. please," (Y/n) begged, not looking at him, and not wanting him to spit any more venom. "I can't take it anymore."Â
"Can't take what? Advice and criticism?"Â
"NO! You don't understand!
"Oh no, I completely understand. You're so insecure that it's getting in the way of your well being and work. How many lives are you going to risk just because you're not putting your all into your job rather than into whatever is going on in your head?!"
"BUT WHAT IF I AM??" Mack's mouth shut, no words or sounds escaping him as he looked at the now angry woman glaring at him from the medical bed. "Would that idea be too big or inconceivable to shove through that ego inflated head of yours?"
The Head Engineer moved to speak but she shushed him with a finger to his lips.Â
"No, listen. I have been working myself to the bone and beyond, trying to please you. You wanted to know why I'm mal-nurished and exhausted? Well, there's your reason. I have been skipping meals, sleep, and more just to complete work that wasn't even mine, just because I didn't want to feel useless anymore. So tell me, oh high and mighty Head Engineer Mack, have I finally done enough to actually be the Captain, or do I need to up my game while you try and take my job for the upteenth time?"Â
An uncomfortable silence filled the room as the two stared at each other. Neither of them wanted to back down, a second in command challenging his superior and the latter silently telling him to stand down.Â
Mack frowned as he looked into (Y/n)'s tired eyes. It was true, she had been working hard, but Mack thought and believed that he could do better. He had a superiority complex, even though he would outwardly and actively reject that truth because it wasn't good for his social figure.Â
But was what (Y/n) was telling him true? Did she really feel worthless, lazy, and useless all because of him? As he watched her from his seat he really took the time to notice everything about her. She was tired, very tired. Her arms were thinned and slightly boney, as if the fat was drained away. He worried that if he asked the nurse, he would discover that (Y/n)'s ribs were starting to show.Â
She needed food, water, and lots of sleep. How far above and beyond was she going to go in her work if she hadn't fainted. She would be a dead girl walking. Mack had to admit, he was wrong about her. She was a real asset to the crew and a hard worker.Â
He stood up to leave, slightly startling the woman as she watched him move toward the exit. "Where are you going?"Â
"I'm leaving the room. You need to rest. You won't be able to work in your condition. I'll have food sent to you during the normal meal times and water is always available. Make sure you recover quickly. The ship needs its Captain."Â
(Y/n)'s eyes widened and her cheeks flushed pink, much to Mack's secret delight. "Oh, and one more thing," He said, turning around in the doorway to look at her with a gentle smile.
"You are enough. Get well soon, (Y/n)."
"Silence, Darling." He murmured, putting a finger to his lips as he grinned. From her position, pinned to the wall, (Y/n) wasn't quite sure what to do. Her friend was acting like he was a different person entirely. "Mark.. What are you-"
He cut her off with a kiss, leaving her breathless as he pulled away moments later. "Shhhh... do not say his name, not when I'm the one making you feel like this." He smiled, getting closer, as if to kiss (Y/n) again, but he stopped just short of her lips.
"Darling, do you really not know who I am?"
"M-mark, this really isn't funny. You're scaring me."
"I am not Mark." The man growled, his voice deep and husky, making (Y/n)'s cheeks flush red. "I.. then who are you?"
"I am the one in control. I am the master." He responded, leaning down and pressing a kiss to her neck as she whimpered in fear. With a soft chuckle, he leaned up again to gaze into her (e/c) eyes. "Do not be afraid, my love, for you and I are finally together and we shall never part again."
"How can I be yours if we've never met?" She said, blushing as she struggled to look away from his hypnotic eyes. "Please, just give me my friend back. Please, bring Mark back"
"You're making a mistake darling. I can give you anything, more than he could ever even offer." He kissed her again, this time, making (Y/n) sleepy with the warmth and comfort of his embrace. "But I don't even.. know who.. you are.." She murmured after he pulled away, somehow finding herself longing for another moment of passion.
"Darkiplier..." he whispered in her ear, his soft voice sending shivers down her spine. She repeated the name, her eyelids beginning to droop with sudden exaustion as he kissed her again. She then fell forward, unable to fight the need for rest. As he carried her away in his strong arms, (Y/n) heard the man's voice one final time before succumbing to the dreamscape.
"Happy Halloween, Darling."
Saitama and Hit
(Y/n)'s POV)
I had always had a crush on the Earth-Saiyan, Kakarot, or as I had learned to call him, Goku. From the first moment when my big brother (Vegeta), Nappa, and I had been fighting his allies and he swooped in to save them, I was in love. I had been told when I was young that when a saiyan finds their perfect mate, time just seems to stop when they see their fated partner for the first time. That's what happened when I saw him. When we fought in hand to hand combat I never wanted it to end.
But we had to leave Earth..
"I suppose you win this battle," I jeered at him, picking my beaten brother off of the ground. "This won't be the last time we see each other though." Goku was broken badly but I caught the smirk he threw my way from where he lay on the ground. Quickly leaving in the space pods we arrived in, we headed out into space. Little did they know, I left a small tracker on his gi, so I could hear everything that they were talking about.
That's how I found out that Goku was a married man..
My heart broke and I burned with jealousy when I heard her voice. Chi Chi, the wife of Goku. I should've realized he was in a relationship, after all he had a son, but I guess when you're in battle you don't really think about stuff like that. When we arrived on Frieza's ship, we were healed up and quickly left for Namek where some wish orbs could be found. While there, we met some of the humans from before, including Goku's son, Gohan. The kid was really sweet, even though he was obviously terrified of us.
Then Goku showed up..
My heart nearly beat out of my chest as I saw him again. Vegeta and I were already partially working with the humans to gather the Namekian wish orbs so this also meant that we would be working together. "So, Goku," I said, and he looked toward me after a joy filled reunion with his friends and family, "Are you ready for a rematch? My brother and I are stronger than ever and we are ready to beat you." He smiled and rubbed his neck adorably. "Sorry, normally I would but there is something important we need to do here. Not only that but we have a common enemy here and probably shouldn't kill each other before we find him."
He was right..
Of course he was talking about Frieza, and that's what truly brought both sides together. Now it seemed like they were allies permanently. When Frieza finally did attack my eyes widened when he killed Vegeta. My brother, who had been there for me for my entire life and kept me safe, was now dead? That was the first time I turned Super Saiyan. With Goku's help, we seemingly defeated the evil emperor.
Then Frieza killed Krillin..
Goku, taken over by rage, turned into a Super Saiyan and Frieza never really stood a chance. However, before I could help Goku finish the tyrant off, I was wished away to the safety of Earth with the rest of the Namekians and my brother and Krillin who were wished back to life. I was pissed off that I couldn't help Goku, but thought it was sweet he wanted to keep me safe.
Then Goku disappeared..
Everyone was heartbroken and upset and Vegeta left Earth to "search for other saiyans" but everyone knew he was looking for his missing rival. I stayed on Earth mainly because the planet fascinated me, but also because I could learn a thing or two from these humans. That's where I found my love of music. Not only that, but I got to help Gohan with his training. Chi Chi refused to let him train because she wanted him to focus on his studies.
Then Goku returned..
After a mysterious being showed up on Earth and defeated Frieza, who had made an unwelcome return, Goku came down in a space pod. He had apparently spent the past year on an alien planet training and being healed. No matter, he was back and there was a new threat to prepare for in 3 years. During that time, we trained like crazy and I started a career in singing. It might seem weird, the warrior princess of the saiyans becoming a singer, but it had become my passion besides fighting.
Then Goku died..
He sacrificed himself to save everyone from Cell. Gohan dealt the finishing blow after it was revealed that Cell didn't actually die. Everyone was sad that Goku was truly gone this time, but life would move on.. maybe.. 7 years passed and I kept training Gohan, this time also training his little brother Goten (Chi Chi, much to my dismay, had become pregnant before Goku died). It became almost a habit to go over to their house and help them train or help with homework. At that point I was taking care of them more than their own mother because she kept disappearing on random outings.
Then Goku came back..
The 28th Tenkaichi Budokai was coming up and Gohan was blackmailed convinced by his new friend, Videl (daughter of Mr. Satan, the man who took all the credit for defeating Cell) to participate in it. Also, a lot of our friends were joining it as well. Goku showed up, having been granted the ability to be in the mortal world for 24 hours. Tears were shed and Goku was allowed to meet Goten for the first time. It was so wholesome and I almost cried, but then Chi Chi was all over him. Once again I was overcome with jealousy. I wanted to tell him how I felt, but I guess it was futile.
Then Majin Buu was awakened and everything went wrong..
Vegeta sacrificed himself to stop the pink monster but it was in vain. Everyone in the world was dying. Goku was doing his best to save everyone but it was getting harder and harder to defend the world against this new menace that had an infinite appetite. Even I couldn't last. A blast was headed right toward the man I loved and I pushed him out of the way, sacrificing myself in order to save him. When I was revived, Goku and Vegeta had been brought back to life too. Everything was starting to go back to normal and few years passed.
Then Goku came into Capsule Corp. crying..
Bulma and I were the first to check on him. "What's wrong? Why are you upset?" Goku managed to choke out, "Ch-chi Chi.. chea-cheated on m-me.. I saw h-her in o-our bed with... ANOTHER MAN!!" He burst out in tears again and my eyes went wide. "I'm gonna KILL HER!" I exclaimed, starting to move toward the door but he stopped me, grabbing my wrist. "N-no.. please don't hurt her! It's my fault anyway.. I wasn't good enough for her.." I took his head in my hands and looked him in the eyes. "No, Goku. You're too good for her! She's just too stupid and blind to realize it!" His eyes were wide as he looked at me. "Let me help you, Goku.. please.." He nodded, looking down and leaning against me. My face erupted with a blush, but the only reason I could tell was because Bulma was giving me the look.
Then I moved in with Goku and even more years passed..
Chi Chi and Goku divorced within a week of him finding out about her unfaithfulness. Goten took it hard but got over it just as quickly. After Goku had died, his mom had been rather neglectful and he got even better after Goku got custody of him in court. However, they needed help at home and Goku was struggling to move on. I took the opportunity when it presented itself and moved in with them. About a year later I was surprised when Goten called me "mom". It was by accident but I was the happiest girl in the world. Even Gohan, when he and his wife, Videl, came to visit, said that he'd also like to call me his mom if it was okay. Of course it was. Lord Beerus appeared and looked for "the Super Saiyan god". The ritual was done, and soon everyone was training at levels we could only dream of before. Everything was falling into place.
Then everything fell apart..
Goku came into the house one day looking so incredibly happy. Gohan, Videl, and their newborn daughter, Pan, were visiting and everything was just right. "What's got you so giddy?" I asked, smiling at the man I loved. "Chi Chi and I met each other at the store! She said she wanted to try again! We're going on a date tomorrow!" I froze in shock and the music sheets that I had previously been holding fell to the ground. My heart shattered. "R-really? I'm... I'm so h-happy for you!" I quickly picked up my music sheets and placed them in a folder near the counter. "Mom? Are you okay?" Asked Goten and I gave him a fake smile. Gohan and Videl were looking at me with pity. They knew of my love for Goku. "Yea, little fighter. I'm fine.. I'm just think I remembered that I needed to turn in one of my new songs to the studio." Goku smiled at me happily, "Do you want someone to go with you?" I shook my head and looked away from him. "No, I'll be fine on my own."
My heart was broken..
I flew to Capsule Corps. and entered the house. Vegeta and Bulma saw my pain and ran to me. "What's wrong, (Y/n)? Why are you upset?" I sobbed into Bulma's shoulder. "Goku's giving Chi Chi another chance.. They're going on a date tomorrow.." I sobbed, shaking with the pain on my broken heart. Vegeta let out an angry growl. "Kakarot is such an idiot! His own children even call you their mother. How could he give that cheating harpy another chance? I'm gonna KILL HIM!" I grabbed onto his wrist, remembering how Goku had done the same to me just a year before. "No! Please don't! It's not his fault he's still in love with her! Plus, it's my fault that I never confessed to him in the first place.." Vegeta looked at me angrily, then sighed and gave up.
Their date went perfectly..
Chi Chi was moving back in with her "family" and I didn't know how to feel. Every time she looked at me it was with a glare and she made it rather clear she didn't want me here. I was tough and stuck it out, but it was only a matter of time before I couldn't live there anymore. Goten and Gohan weren't allowed to call me mom while she was around and Goku hardly paid any attention to me anymore.
It was agonizing..
Future Trunks came around asking for help and thought Goku was his enemy. Then a portal opened up and he stepped out. He looked around and spotted me, smiling. I frowned at him, but my heart was racing. A second Goku! The two matching men faced each other and began to fight but suddenly, the copycat disappeared. My eyes widened when a hand covered my mouth and a husky voice whispered in my ear. "There you are, my songbird.~" I blushed and shoved him away from me as the real Goku rushed in and punched him in the face. Soon after, the evil Goku was sucked back into the portal he came from and everyone turned to me. "What did he say to you?" I blushed at the memory, "He called me his songbird.."
My mind was off of the real Goku for a bit..
That's when the investigation began. Beerus took Goku and I to the 10th universe to check out their supreme kai's new assistant, Zamasu. The scenery was beautiful there and I found myself wandering away from Whis, Lord Beerus, and Goku in order to look at it more. It was inspiring and I wanted to write a song about something like this. I could hear Zamasu and Goku fighting in the distance, but it came to an end eventually and I hummed happily. All was peaceful again.
He came and talked to me..
"The weather is quite beautiful, isn't it?" I looked over at the owner of the sweet and smooth voice. It was Zamasu. "It is. This place in general is amazing. I almost envy the tenth universe." There was a small chuckle from the kai. "I'm sure the seventh universe is just as beautiful." I smiled at him and shrugged. "I guess it really depends on who you're asking." He nodded and there was a small moment of silence. "You seem very peaceful for a saiyan. Why is that?" I could only shrug. "I fight when I need to, though I used to do it all the time. Spending time with my friends and finding a new passion kinda taught me that there's more to life than violence." I saw his smile widen and it made my heart beat increase.
There was some kind of strange connection between us..
"What are you writing?" I looked over at him once again, then down at my notes. "I was inspired by this world and I'm writing a song. It's my job and a hobby back in my universe." He was looking over my notes and smiling. "The song will be quite lovely from what I'm reading right now." I smiled and blushed happily. "Thanks so much!"
I was happy with him..
"(Y/N)!! WE'RE LEAVING!" I heard Lord Beerus call and I sighed. "Well, everything needs to come to an end eventually I guess." Zamasu smiled at me and took my hand, kissing the back of it. "I do hope we meet again sometime soon." My face felt so hot and I smiled nervously, "Maybe we will, who knows? It was nice to meet you, Zamasu." I walked back to the others and I noticed that Goku was glaring at Zamasu angrily. 'I wonder what's gotten him upset.' I thought, putting my hand on Beerus's shoulder and being whisked away.
My heart was beating so fast..
"I think Zamasu is the person we're looking for." Said Goku, his serious voice present. "Are you sure? He seemed really nice." I replied, looking over at him in confusion. "When we were fighting, his energy reminded me a lot of Black. I'm sure that they're connected somehow." I frowned. There was no way someone as sweet as Zamasu could be connected to someone as terrible as Goku Black.
There was no way..
Vegeta, Goku, Future Trunks, and I all left for his future. There we saw the true extent of Goku Black's genocide. It was awful. The few survivors there had little to no hope and there wasn't very much happiness here. We had to protect these people with our lives.
Then he appeared..
"Hmm.. I could've sworn I'd gotten rid of your time machine, but it's whatever." He laughed, looking at our ragtag group of fighters. Then he saw me and smiled. "Hello again, my songbird." I blushed and growled but was also surprised to hear Goku growling too. It was unnatural and unusual for him to growl so possessively. Black only laughed and attacked. Eventually, everyone was beaten up and almost unconscious while our foe stood there with mild damage in his Super Saiyan Rose' form. "We have to retreat for now!" Said Trunks, beginning to run away, we followed close behind but I was suddenly yanked backward before I could climb in the time machine.
Then he held me back so I couldn't escape with the others..
"(Y/N)!" They all shouted, halting their retreat. "Go! Go without me!" I yelled back, trying to get them out while they still could. "No! I'm not leaving without you!" Exclaimed Goku, reaching his hand out, trying to leave but Trunks blocked him. "She's giving us an opening. We need to leave now. I don't want to leave her either but this is all we can do at the moment." I tried to fight off Black, but with a swift chop to the back of my bruised neck, I was knocked out cold.
He took me away to a better place..
I opened my eyes to see I was literally in a cage and a glowing chain was put around my ankle. "What the heck?" I murmured, trying to take it off, but it was really strong. The entire cage glowed the same way and I realized they were Ki restraints. As long as I was chained or in this cage, I wouldn't be able to use my powers. I was truly trapped. "Well well well, looks like the songbird finally woke up." came a smooth voice and I looked up to see Goku Black, sitting on a chair in front of the cage. I growled angrily, "Let me go you psychopath!" He only smirked and leaned against his hand. "Now why would I let my songbird go? No.. not when it took so much effort to catch her." I blushed and looked away. "You flatter me so. You realize you're talking to the princess of all saiyans? I demand that you let me go this instant." Black laughed, "Oh, I apologize, your majesty. Even so, it doesn't change the fact that you now belong to me." It was so hard not to lose my cool around him. He looked just like Goku and treated me like this?
What was he doing to me?
"Sing for me." I looked at him in confusion. "What?" Black glared at me, "Did I stutter? I said sing for me." I turned away from him angrily. "I don't have to do anything you tell me to do. I'm not your slave, even if you claim that you own me, and I'm certainly not afraid of you." There was a small gust of wind and I turned to see he had transformed into his custom Super Saiyan form. "Maybe you're not, but the survivors in that city sure are. I know they're there somewhere and I could take that whole place and burn it to the ground. I'll make a deal with you. If you sing for me, I'll spare them, for now. If you refuse, I'll kill every last human in that city. I've already destroyed the rest of the world, so why not.
How could I refuse such an offer?
I sighed. "Fine, but I'm doing it for the people's safety, not for you. What kind of song do you want to hear?" He looked out the window thoughtfully. "Something to remember things with, I suppose." I nodded, sitting down in my prison and thinking quickly of a song that I knew.
Hoping you take that jump But don't fear the fall.. Hope when the water rises You built a wall.. Hoping the crowd screams out Screaming your name... Hope if everybody runs You choose to stay..
Black watched me as I sang, but I didn't look at him. I imagined my friends, my loyal and brave friends back in my dimension and time. I wondered how they were doing.
Hope that you fall in love And it hurts so bad The only way you can know Is give it all you have And I hope that you don't suffer But take the pain Hope when the moment comes you say I, I did it all I, I did it all
I thought of all the adventures we had together. From when we were enemies, to when we were literally dying together as friends.
I owned every second That this world could give I saw so many places The things that I did With every broken bone I swear I lived..
A single tear fell down my cheek and I turned away from the eyes of my captor.
Hope that you spend your days But they all add up And when that sun goes down Hope you raise your cup I wish that I could witness All your joy and all your pain But until my moment comes I'll say I, I did it all I, I did it all I owned every second That this world could give I saw so many places And things that I did With every broken bone I swear I lived
I thought of Goku and Chi Chi. How happy they were now that they were together again. How I would never be the source of his happiness, and she would, even after she betrayed him in one of the worst way possible.
With every broken bone I swear I lived With every broken bone I swear I lived I, I did it all I, I did it all I owned every second That this world could give I saw so many places And things that I did With every broken bone I swear I lived..
(end of song)
There was silence for a little while and then there was soft clapping. "Bravo. I must say that song with your voice got me a tad bit emotional. Tell me, did you write that song?" I shook my head. "No, someone else made it. I have just listened to it enough times to know how to sing it word for word." He smirked, "Even so, it probably would have sounded even better if you wrote it and sang it first. You really are quite the song bird." I blushed but continued to look away from him.
Days passed but no one came..
Everyday he would have me sing for him and everyday he and I would get closer. I no longer avoided his gaze when I sang or spoke to him. He never mistreated me, and was in fact quite the gentleman. He was what people could consider "the perfect man".
But he wasn't Goku..
Nearly a week had passed with no sign of rescue in sight. I tried so hard to keep faith that they would come back but a week was a really long time to try and regroup. Black was my only companion here and I was worried I might go crazy.
Today would be a bit different though..
"I want you to sing me a song that you wrote. Something that no one else has heard before." I looked at him in surprise. "What? Why?" Black looked at me intently. "Because I said so and because I want to hear something that you made, not someone else." My mind immediately went to one song I made that fit his request but I frowned. "I made the specific song you're asking for for someone else. I was hoping it could be special because they'd be the first one to hear it. I guess that's off the table though." 'It's not like he's here either way, and he probably wouldn't understand the meaning anyway.' "I guess I'll sing it for you, but it sounds better if I have a guitar to sing along with." Black hummed quietly and nodded. "Fine. I'll find one for you. I know I've seen one somewhere in that wasteland city. Don't go anywhere." I smirked at his comment. "As if I have the option of leaving." He smiled at me kindly and left the house. I checked the cage but I couldn't find a real way out. I really was trapped..
Then he returned..
He handed me a beautiful acoustic guitar and it was, surprisingly, already tuned. "Thanks for finding it for me. It's beautiful." Black murmured something under his breath and blushed that I didn't catch but I didn't question it as I began to play and sing.
I'm booking myself a one way flight I gotta see the color in your eyes And telling myself I'm gonna be alright Without you baby is a waste of time.. Yeah, our first date, boy, the seasons changed It got washed away in a summer rain You can't undo a fall like this 'Cause love don't know what distance is Yeah, I know it's crazy..
I sang for my broken heart and I sang for my unrequited and lasting love..
But I don't want "good" and I don't want "good enough" I want "can't sleep, can't breathe without your love" Front porch and one more kiss, it doesn't make sense to anybody else Who cares if you're all I think about, I've searched the world and I know now, It ain't right if you ain't lost your mind Yeah, I don't want easy, I want crazy Are you with me baby? Let's be crazy
I felt Black's eyes on me but I didn't mind.
I wanna be scared, don't wanna know why Wanna feel good, don't have to be right The world makes all kinds of rules for love I say you gotta let it do what it does
I don't want just another hug and a kiss goodnight Catchin' up calls and a date sometimes I love that we're rebels, and we still believe We're the kind of crazy people wish that they could be, yeah Oh, and I know we're crazy, yeah
I smiled and blushed as I sang, feeling happy and free..
But I don't want "good" and I don't want "good enough" I want "can't sleep, can't breathe without your love" Front porch and one more kiss, it doesn't make sense to anybody else Who cares if you're all I think about, I've searched the world and I know now, It ain't right if you ain't lost your mind Yeah, I don't want easy, I want crazy You with me baby? Let's be crazy
I was partially aware of Black standing up and walking over to stand in front of the cage, but i kept singing..
But I don't want "good" and I don't want "good enough" I want "can't sleep, can't breathe without your love" Front porch and one more kiss, it doesn't make sense to anybody else Who cares if you're all I think about, I've searched the world and I know now, It ain't right if you ain't lost your mind Yeah, I don't want easy, I want crazy Yeah, look at us baby, tonight the midnight rules are breaking There's no such thing as wild enough, And maybe we just think too much Who needs to play it safe in love? Let's be crazy!
I looked at Goku Black as I sang the last lines, feeling oddly drawn to him..
Who cares if we're crazy? We gotta be crazy I know that we're crazy, so let's be crazy Yeah...
(end of song)
There he stood in front of me, smiling kindly from beyond the bars. "So those are the kinds of songs that your heart can produce? I must say I am jealous of whoever you wrote that song for." I looked away, embarrassed. "It was for the real Goku. I've been too much of a coward to confess how I truly felt about him so I thought that maybe if I sang this to him, and he knew it was for him, that maybe he would finally understand and choose me.. That's only wishful thinking though.." "Why is it only wishful thinking?"
"Because he's getting back with his ex-wife who cheated on him and he seems so happy about it." Tears began to fall unwillingly from my eyes and Black opened the door to my cage, wrapping his arms around me in a gentle embrace. I welcomed it as I cried into his soft and warm chest.
"It's not fair! I've been helping him and taking care of him and his family even when he wasn't alive and he still doesn't see me! He just sees that cheating witch that he used to call his wife.. his own kids even call me their mom!"
It's not fair..
He looked at me dead in the eyes and shook his head. "You're right it's not fair, but if you know you can't be with him, why haven't you given up?" More tears fell from my eyes as I responded.
"It's because I love him, even when he hurts me I love him, and I know it's toxic at this point but can't stop because every time I try I fall in love with him all over again."
"If you can't have the real one, why not settle for second best?" He tucks a few lose strands of my hair behind my ear and traces my jaw with his finger, pinching my chin gently and raising my face up to look at him.
"Because you're not the man I fell in love with.. You're not my Goku."
"But I could be. Don't you want this? Don't you want me to love you?"
No
"Couldn't I be your knight in shining armor?"
No
"Why suffer heartbreak when you could forget all about him and finally be happy?"
Could I?
"Let me help you, (Y/n), my songbird."
Should I?
"I love you."
I shouldn't..
"I'll ask you once more.. do you want this?"
"Yes.."
He closed the gap between us and our lips met in a passionate kiss, tasting like tea and salt from the tears on my lips. It was like a dream.
A wonderful dream come true..
I jumped up and wrapped my legs around his waist as he pushed me against the wall, all while hungrily attacking my mouth. My hands traveled into his hair, pushing him toward me as the kiss got heated. He bit my lip, asking for entrance and I granted it, opening my mouth. He slipped his tongue inside and I moaned in pleasure. 'I never would have guessed that kissing would feel so good.' I thought as he pushed me harder into the wall.
But all things must come to an end..
Suddenly, we felt multiple energy signatures appear out of thin air. We stopped our heated make-out session and looked toward the window. "Th-they're back?" I said in shock. "I was starting to wonder if they would ever return." Black growled and let me go, pushing me into my cage and locking the door. "I'll deal with them. You're staying here." I held the bars of my prison in my hands as I begged Black not to hurt them. He only smiled and kissed my lips gently. "We'll see what happens when we get to that."
And with that, he left, leaving me behind..
(Goku's POV)
We arrived in the future once again and I could feel Black's energy signature coming from somewhere beyond the city. I was confused. "Why would Black be away from the city? Hasn't he already destroyed the rest of the world?"
"I don't know either, Kakarot. Maybe it's where he's keeping (Y/n) hidden."
"If she's still alive, that is." Said Trunks, being the only one of us who dared bring out the possibility that our ally was possibly dead somewhere.
-time skip-
When Goku Black finally showed his face, he was alone. "What, have you come back for more?" he jeered, transforming into his Super Saiyan Rose' form. "You monster, what have you done with my sister?!" Barked Vegeta angrily and I nodded, also wanting to know. "She's alive and unharmed, for the most part. You all took so long she was starting to give up hope." He smirked at me. "I must say, Goku, I'm rather jealous. My dear (Y/n) thinks rather highly of you."
"Don't call her "your dear", also, why would you be jealous?" He smirked, "Simple, she clearly cares a lot about you and is heart broken that you never noticed her. Not only that but I must say you're missing out." My eyes widened. "Wait.. what?"
Vegeta and Trunks looked like they had seen a ghost. "It's true," continued Black, smiling deviously. "she wrote a song for you, even took care of you and your family but you never saw her the way she hoped you would. Instead, you got right back with the person she was helping you heal from. How tragic. It's a good thing I was there to help her pick up the pieces." My head was spinning. 'There was no way.. I thought that..'
"No. I don't know why you're making this up, Black, but it's not gonna work." What happened next, shocked me.
"Actually, Kakarot, he's speaking the truth." I turned to Vegeta. "What? You can't seriously believe this guy, do you?" Vegeta shook his head. "I could've told you the same thing without him saying it. You're just too blind to see what's right in front of you. I swear, you've broken her heart so many times but she just won't give up on you." My heart was pounding. "You mean that she... she loves me?"
"Finally! Somebody's finally caught up!" Said Goku Black with a sneer. My face turned scarlet. 'All this time and I never realized..' I shook my head. "Well then, I guess that's just more reason to defeat you and rescue her, right guys?" Vegeta and Trunks nodded at me, getting into fighting positions.
"Try all you will, but I will purge this world of its impurities and have (Y/n) stay by my side as my queen!"
"NEVER!" I shouted running at him angrily. We traded kicks and punches like there was no tomorrow and trunks and I tried our best to serve as a good distraction while Vegeta looked for his sister. "Do you really think I'll give in so easily? I have so much on the line right now. I'm not only fighting for my perfect world, but I'm fighting for my songbird. I've grown quite fond of her and don't plan to let her go any time soon. I think I've reached a milestone with her. Not that you'd know, Goku, but she's an amazing kisser." That last part was said in a whisper so Trunks couldn't hear it.
"WHAT?! I exclaimed, punching him so hard in the face that he went flying through 6 buildings. I was so angry and wanted to end him quickly. Black laughed as he got up from his nest in the rubble. "What, are you jealous that I kissed her before you ever realized that she liked you?" I flew at him, my fist glowing with energy. "I'll Make Sure You Pay For What You Did!! She Doesn't Even Love You!!" Walls were broken and I frowned as he got right back up again.
"I beg to differ," he said with a smirk, "you see, she never rejected the kiss, in fact she was quite into it if I do say so myself. She told me she wanted it." My heart broke and I charged a quick Kamehameha, shooting it right toward Black. "No! You're Lying!!"
"Am I? Or are you just jealous?"
He was right. I was jealous. After coming home, I was already upset that I had to leave (Y/n) behind, and then I came home to find Chi Chi cheating on me AGAIN with the SAME GUY. I told them to leave and to never come back. Afterward, the house just wasn't the same. It just felt so empty. I missed (Y/n). Goten even asked, "Where's mom?" I told him that she and her partner had already left, but then he said, "No. Not Mama Chi Chi. Where's Mama (Y/n)?" My eyes widened. I had almost forgotten that he and Gohan had started calling her their mom.
The thought made me blush. She really was a mom figure, huh? She was always there for me too. 'The perfect mate..' I thought blissfully, remembering how time just seemed to stop when I saw her for the first time. It was strange at first, but I had pushed those thoughts out of my mind so I could focus on the battle against her and her brother. I had to get her back..
"We'll find her." Was all I could say to my son for the time being.
(Vegeta's POV)
I flew toward where we had found Black's energy when we arrived and saw a beautiful house overlooking the ruined city. 'This has to be it.' I though, flying up to the door, which was unlocked. Entering the house I heard soft singing.
I used to believe We were burnin' on the edge of somethin' beautiful Somethin' beautiful Sellin' a dream Smoke and mirrors keep us waitin' on a miracle On a miracle Say, go through the darkest of days Heaven's a heartbreak away Never let you go, never let me down Oh, it's been a hell of a ride Driving the edge of a knife Never let you go, never let me down Don't you give up, nah, nah, nah I won't give up, nah, nah, nah Let me love you Let me love you Don't you give up, nah, nah, nah I won't give up, nah, nah, nah Let me love you Let me love you (Oh, baby, baby)
I entered the room where the singing was and saw her in a cage, lying against the bars as she sang, probably trying to pass the time.
"(Y/N)!"
She looked up from where she was sitting and her eyes widened in shock, her hands now holding the bars. "Vegeta! You're here!" I rushed over to her and used a ki blast on the lock, unfortunately it did nothing. "It's a ki draining cage. You won't be able to unlock it that way." I growled angrily then found some toothpicks in the kitchen area. I used those to pick the lock.
When the door swung open, she hugged me tightly and I held her, feeling so many emotions. "Did he do anything to you?" She pulled away from me and shook her head. "No. He asked me to sing for him a couple of times and we held a few conversations, but other than that nothing really happened." I nodded then noticed the chain around her ankle. "Same deal as before?" She nodded and I took care that that too.
"Let's get out of here. Kakarot and Trunks can only last so long against Black." Handing her a sensu bean, we quickly left, flying to find the others quickly while hiding our ki. "Be careful, alright? You're still only at Super Saiyan god at the moment so you might not last in this fight." She nodded and we took cover in a ruined alleyway. There were Kakarot and Trunks, bloody and bruised, fighting against Black. (Y/n) looked sad as she watched it but then growled and leapt suddenly into the fight.
"I thought I told you not to hurt my friends!" She took Black by surprise and kicked him square in the side, the force of the impact making him fly back a good distance. "(Y/n)!" Kakarot and Trunks exclaimed happily and she smirked at them. "Took you long enough to come back for me. I was getting a little worried." Black flew back toward the group, growling. "And I told you we'd see what happened when we got to it. Also, I thought I told you to stay in your cage, so I guess we're even." She rolled her eyes. "Well when somebody opens the bird cage, the bird's most likely to fly away." I stepped out of the shadows and Black cursed at me.
"You can't even defeat me. I'll just take you right back and reinforce it. Nothing to worry about, my songbird." She glared at him, "You can stop with that name now. I'm not your pet." He appeared right in front of her and whispered something in her ear, making her face erupt in a bright red blush.
(Y/n)'s POV)
Goku flew right at Black, punching him in the face. "GET AWAY FROM HER!" My hear was beating so fast and I covered my face in embarrassment. My brain replayed what Black had just said, "Not my pet? That's not what you were showing earlier today~" I shook my head and I yelled out in anger. He had tricked me into giving into my desires and now I couldn't undo it. I had been played with.
"I HATE YOU GOKU BLACK!!!" I shouted, feeling my power surge and my hair rise above my head, launching myself at him. This time, the force of my punch broke the sound barrier. He flew back, smashing through multiple buildings. "(Y-Y/n), you unlocked a new form!" said Goku in shock. I looked at my hands but was shocked and slightly horrified to see a faint pink tint. I looked toward Goku. "What color is my hair?" He looked away nervously. "Pink.."
"I have Super Saiyan Rose'?"
"Yeah..."
"Great! Another thing to remember him by!"
Trunks shouted at us to hurry back to the time machine and we managed to get there just as Black charged an attack at us. The vehicle rose into the air and we saw the attack heading right toward us but right before it hit, we disappeared in a ball of light, heading back into our time.
When we landed, I was one of the first people out. The sky was so clear and beautiful and everything smelled fresh. I laughed and fell to the ground onto the grass. "You never realize how much you love a place until you're away from it for too long." Vegeta sighed, "Get off of the ground, (Y/n). You're better than that."
"Shut it Veggie. I've been cooped up in a cage in a house in the future for a week. Let me enjoy the outdoors here for a bit." Bulma came out of the house, followed by Goten and young Trunks. "MAMA! YOU'RE BACK!" I was tackled by Goku's son and I laughed as I held him close. "Hi there, little fighter. I missed you!" While standing up, Bluma tackled me to the ground and I laughed even harder. "DON'T WORRY ME LIKE THAT AGAIN!" She yelled at me, tears in her eyes.
I'm home..
"Hey, (Y/n), can I talk to you, just the two of us?" I looked over at Goku in confusion. "Uhh.. sure?" I looked toward Vegeta, but he wouldn't look at me. Goku led me inside the Capsule Corps. building and sighed softly. "Alright, we're alone. What's wrong?" He looked at me for a few seconds, like he was trying to figure out what to do next. Suddenly, he placed both hands on either side of my head, pining me to the wall. My face warmed alarmingly fast. "G-goku! Wha-what are you doing?"
He leaned in, looking dead serious. "Black told me a lot when we arrived and faced him." I could tell that my blush was continuing to grow just by the look on his face. "H-he did? What did he tell you?" Goku tilted his head, "A few things. I'll leave out a lot of it, but some things stuck with me. You wrote a song for me?"
'If I blushed any more than I already am, I might faint.' I thought in alarm as I looked away nervously. "Y-yea so what if I did? It's just a song." He pinched my chin gently and turned my face to look at him. It was just like what Goku Black had done. "He told me I broke your heart." I was scared now. Just how much did Black tell him? "I-I don't know what y-your talking ab-bout." Goku leaned in even further, our lips only a few painful inches apart. I could feel his hot breath on my face.
"He told me that the two of you kissed."
I paled in horror and remained silent. "Nothing to say?" Tears welled up in my eyes. It was all over. I couldn't hide it anymore. I was gonna lose him forever. "H-he.. I told him I didn't want him, but.. he seduced me. I couldn't think straight.. I... I kissed him.." Goku growled angrily and I looked at him in fear. "P-please don't be angry.. I was upset and-" He stopped me by pressing his mouth to mine.
I gasped quietly, not believing that this was actually happening. Goku, the real Goku, was kissing me! I kissed back, humming happily. After a few seconds we separated, panting for breath. "Black was right.. I was missing out." he said, looking at me with half open eyes.
"Goku.." I murmured, looking at his flushed face in wonder. "I was too blind to see everything you were doing for me out of love. I understand now, (Y/n), and I love you too. I'm sorry it took so long to figure it out."
I sighed happily and leaned against him happily, "No need to be sorry. I was too much of a coward to tell you anyway." Goku kissed my forehead softly, "Do you want this? Do you really want me the way that I want you?" I nodded, finally able to look at him in the eye with the love that I had held back for so long.
"Yes Goku. I want this.."
