hey! i recently had top surgery (woohoo!), and i thought I'd write down what the whole process was like for me, from start to finish (aka 6 weeks later). i hope this helps anybody looking into top surgery or just looking for someone else's experience!
quick info:
i got ftm top surgery as a transmasc person on October 23rd, 2024. i got the double incision type, without nipple grafts, plus liposuction. my surgeon was Dr. Rukmini Rednam in Houston, Texas, USA.

the 2am urge to paint
based on a screenshot of the nether in Minecraft. the basalt deltas are one of my favorite biomes. it's so simple and barren, but it's oddly calm, especially with the ash floating in the air. i wasn't really sure how to portray the glowstone, so it's a little bright, but other than that I'm very happy with how it turned out
another Merlin drawing
according to IbisPaint, this took me about 7 hours. i did it all on my phone, though i didnt sketch as much as I'd normally do, and instead used the reference as a guide. i exaggerated their proportions, simplified the armor, and created the colors and rendering entirely on my own to give my desired effect, not really following the lighting in the original picture
- sore wrists
- blisters on hands
- every movement opens you up to be hit
- they will hit the tops of their arm and own sides with the sword while learning
- there is a primal sixth sense when you know you’re being toyed with
And, for your typically nonviolent characters.
You don’t aim for the swords. You aim for the person holding the sword.
It sounds so obvious but needs to be accepted. Actively. When holding a sword you have to understand you’re attacking another person. Even to block you have to aim your blocks at the other person or they won’t be strong enough to actually protect yourself.

a simpler version of my last one (under the cut), but it feels more true to my art style
I've been struggling a bit with my digital art lately. i think I've hit a wall, but when i get over it, I'll have figured something out about my art for the better
