Should I Get A Pet?

I’ve been seeing quite a few phony “wildlife rescue” videos recently, so I just want to put out this quick PSA:

- don’t “save” wild prey animals from predators. just don’t. even if the prey animal is cute. even if the predator is scary or gross.

- if you find a baby deer all on its own, it’s doing fine. deer naturally leave their fawns alone for extended periods of time. leave it alone. mama will come back, and she can take care of baby much better than you can.

- if, however, you find a fawn with heavy, visible open wounds, or if mom has a carcass nearby, then you can call a qualified wildlife rehab center. do NOT bring it into your house and try to raise it yourself

- don’t try and raise ANY wild animals yourself, actually. The only exception I would give would be like, jumping spiders or earthworms

- don’t touch wild animals. not even if they come up to you. not even babies. ESPECIALLY not babies.

- don’t feed wild animals. this can cause them to expect food from humans, which can be disastrous if they don’t get it

In general, just observe wild animals from a respectful distance. That’s it. That’s all you have to do.

True, people can be unreliable in a sense compared to some machines. But no matter how advanced, machines can only operate based on the information they're given. That a person gives them. You said people are inherently flawed, so what stops that from passing over to the creation from the creator?

Also machines being loyal? Generally holds some weight, I guess, but I know of some who turned on their creators. That's the risk with advanced AI, not that I think Shard's situation isn't justified. It's how it is. But think about it like this, either you have a glorified sorting machine with no nuance running the world, or you encounter the same problem as with people running it.

You and I both know people are easier to dispose of.

Besides, just because you know the machine's agenda doesn't guarantee you can stop it. You're the Ultimate Lifeform, yes, but tech has a way of being tricky. Imagine if everything's on a cloud, y'know?

Isn't that the beauty of being organic though? We have to make every moment matter. We feel things, physically and emotionally. We're complicated tangles of tissue. I know Shadows are a bit sturdier than myself, or a vast majority of people Green added to the chats. But tell me you want some sort of unfeeling overseer who doesn't value simple comforts dictating your life. Forget about Lyric when you consider this, since it'll be their tech and not them personally running things.

What would you miss if a machine ran the world, not caring that you have different needs than a machine? Would it be a favourite food? A game? A sensation, like waking up in the morning warm and lazy. Would it be given ample time to enjoy the sunlight? Watching the stars? A work focused machine won't value these.

Consider that before you sacrifice everything on your people's behalf. It'll be a dystopia. People will be enslaved. There will be mass suffering, whether Lyric intends it or not.

haha it's okay . they're too busy with a project prep to actually Do anything right now but i really don't want to push it . they've figured out a way to properly harness prism energy the way nine did in the grim and honestly ? probably More so yk . i'd just .. not like to push it !!! it would also REALLY suck if i got my phone taken over anything HAHA

Hello, my name is Erin. I'm about to move to New Mobtropolis for, well, education. Maybe more so work. It's a grey area. I got some sort of mentorship offer and even though I think it's a bit soon I don't think I'll get a chance like this again.

Hopefully I can find more friends in the city! Things are kind of quiet closer to the country so this might be a little nerve wracking being used to the noise and all the people and... It's fine, I'm excited!

For anyone looking to talk to me, I don't mind about pronouns. I'll keep an eye open! It's going to be a couple days before I reach the city and start working.
