Can you believe that Gaya Sa Pelikula talked about so many lgbt+ related issues as openly as it did?
Can you believe that it gave a lesson about euphemisms and how it is not shameful saying the word gay out loud? Can you believe it talked about allyship and how it’s not always done right, but that if people are willing to listen to lgbt+ people and are open to learn it is valuable? When was the last time you saw a show saying microaggression? And especially, related to how people assume that passing privilege is a good thing and shame more feminine lgbt+ people. When was the last time you heard that “you don’t look gay” is NOT a compliment as explicitly as gsp did? Can you believe it also talked about how Vlad devalued those little mundane romantic things like prom because as lgbt+ we feel those are still out of reach for us because of the hateful societies we live in? But then immidiately showed us that we can have those experiences as lgbt+ people. Can you believe how they also highlighted that coming out feels like coming home, or all the talk about Boca del Cielo which is a place that doesn’t feel real but in the end it is found, and how the show values finally being able to express yourself as lgbt+ as something to celebrate and dance to? Something freeing and beautiful?

i know we already hate him but i really want to emphasise how much pat's dad fucks him up with this. all his validation is strongly controlled by whether or not pat adheres to his ideas and codes of acceptable behaviour.
he kept insisting pat uphold his image and reputation when he's in class with the engineering professors, forced him to think of pran as a rival even for the freshy contest, and is now trying to guilt him into quitting the play. the second pat puts one toe out of line, he's there, ready to talk about how he's been a 'good' and 'non-interfering' parent and that it's poor of pat to not respect him and his wishes.
and you can see how much it distresses pat too, to have to hear that. sure he's favoured over pa (and i have my qualms with that) but by no means does pat have it easy bc his father always sets conditions for his love and validation. he's unused to disappointing his father bc so far he's always been trying to match up to his expectations.
this is genuinely some of the shittiest parenting a kid can be subjected to.
The little conversation about saying boyfriend instead of husband and wife is darling because it's so sweet and soft and honest but also because it brings into mind that heteronormativity that comes from those words and how unneeded it is.
Boyfriend is enough.
They went to the beach, because Pat thought he needed to take care of Pran, but in the end Pat was the one who needed taking care of, and Pran just did that softly and silently.
