Captain America was literally based off the idea of a golem so if you are confused about what a good human representation of a golem is its captain America and in no way trump

your periodic reminder that “golem” is not a word you can throw around without context. i know golems are pretty ingrained as earth/elemental spirits in a lot of fantasy settings now, but i wish more people understood that golems are extremely important to jewish people in an extremely specific way. 

the legend of the golem is a direct response to antisemitism in europe–specifically the blood libel; it was the golem’s job to expose asshole christians who tried to frame jews for child murder. the golem was a uniquely jewish response to a uniquely jewish problem: a sort of proto-superman who could come to our aid when all else failed. the golem is for the most part a benign protector (though there are legends of them rampaging after their rabbis lost control of them, but really, that one’s on the rabbi for not being specific enough). it is a positive and much beloved figure in jewish folklore.

so i want you to understand the full extent of jewish revulsion when we see people throwing around the word “golem” in regards to trump. 

trump is not a golem. you do not get to use that word. it does not mean “vaguely human-shaped unfeeling lump of excrement trying to pass as a person.” If that’s what you’re trying to convey with the word “golem”, please just use those words instead.

I think there was something sort of profoundly beautiful about the Wii.

I don’t know why, but especially with the built-in channels there was something about the presentation and the music that really feels so much different from any other console. I think it’s because it’s the first console that tried to be something a little more than just a gaming device, and the ephemeral feeling that came with trying to blaze a trail while still maintaining an air of “we know exactly what we’re doing and are fully confident in these ideas”.

Looking back on it is like a fully realized glimpse into a reality congruent but slightly skewed to our own. The place on our respective timelines was right after the intersection where the two lines fully separated from each other, but only barely.

I tried to do some art for my best friends birthday... let’s just say it’s been a long time since I’ve gotten to the point in a peice where I’ve restarted fully multiple times (after making it past the sketch and whatever else to the painting and rendering faze) and just had to give up cause I managed to make my migraines worse, I now hear a non stop buzzing and the art still doesnt look like the person I want it to
