Happy election day everyone, the date just made me realize I've been running this fundraiser for a little over a year now. Rather depressing, but I am very grateful for all the support you have given my best friend through this awful time.
I decided to make a new version of this text design for my fundraiser since I think the Arabic letters, being thinner and more stylized, were not standing out as much in green. Like the older one, this was mostly made as a sticker design. You can find it here. Here are demos of this and my two older interwoven English/Arabic designs on stickers:
EVERYTHING I EARN from my shop is for my best friend, a Palestinian grad student living in America. The money is sent home to support his friends and family in Palestine and around the rest of the Levant who are being hurt directly and/or financially by the attacks on Gaza, the raids and economic devastation in the West Bank and the collateral damage in surrounding countries.
You can find all my work in my shop HERE. You can add filters by products (stickers, clothes, etc) on the left or go here to browse by design. Here is a sample of some of my other work:
There are over a hundred other designs in a wide variety of styles in my shop too, I hope you find something you like.
Also I'm not going to tell you all how to vote but I do hope all eligible Americans do plan on voting today even if you can't stomach voting for a mainstream candidate. A protest vote is a lot stronger statement than staying home, since something like 30-50% of the eligible population tends to not vote in this country anyway. Realistically not voting is likely to be analyzed as routine apathy rather than a statement. A third party vote shows you are a participating voter who can be courted in future elections. So whatever way you choose to vote please do it!
Thank you so much to everyone who has helped out! We really appreciate the support.
The watermelon first emerged as a symbol of Palestine after the six day war in 1967. Israel made public displays of the Palestinian flag illegal so Palestinians would try to circumvent the ban by using the watermelon, which has the same four colors. I just added a second watermelon design (left) to my shop (just a simple combination of open source assets, map made by Anditii Creative). Watermelons are also basically my best friend's favorite food, he gets SO excited for them in the summer, it's adorable. One of my favorite memories with him is when we impulsively bought a watermelon on our way out on a hike and ate the whole thing with our bare hands in a hollow in a tree. I didn't know then that the watermelon was also a symbol of his home. I'm glad it is, since it already makes me think of him.
As usual, ALL PROCEEDS from this design are for this Palestinian friend, to help him support his girlfriend in remaining safely in America until things calm down and to help his friends and family in Palestine and around the rest of the Levant who are being hurt directly and/or financially by the attacks on Gaza, the increasing Israeli raids in the West Bank and the collateral damage in surrounding countries.
You can buy this design on various products (shirts, stickers, etc) here. All designs found here (Redbubble will display them on a random product, click on each to see more product options). Edit: collections cap out at 100 products apparently, so from now on see my full range of designs here on my main page (I have temporarily removed all designs not related to Palestine).
Thank you to everyone who has helped out so far!
A friend recommended I add more "cute" designs to appeal to a broader audience. So, here is a little cartoon kitten in a keffiyeh:
As usual, ALL PROCEEDS from this guy are for my Palestinian best friend, to help his girlfriend afford to join him safely in America and to help his friends and family in Palestine and around the rest of the Levant who are being hurt directly and/or financially by the attacks on Gaza, the increasing Israeli raids in the West Bank and the collateral damage in surrounding countries. You can find this design on many products (shirts, stickers, mugs, etc) here.
Also if you're looking for cute designs I would recommend my most popular work so far and its several variants, a little dove wrapped in a keffiyeh:
All designs found here (Redbubble will show you a random product, click on each to see more product options). Thank you to everyone who has supported so far!
Does anyone know where this quote comes from originally? I see variations of it around a lot and a lot of disagreement on the source. I incorporated it to my latest design shown above, found here.
As usual ALL PROCEEDS from my work are for my Palestinian best friend, to help him support his girlfriend in remaining safely in America until it's safe for her to travel back home and to help his friends and family in Palestine and around the rest of the Levant who are being hurt directly and/or financially by the attacks on Gaza, the raids in the West Bank (this has unfortunately hit his family quite hard) and the collateral damage in surrounding countries. He will donate anything his family doesn't need to the Palestinian charities he works with.
Here are some product previews:
Here are some examples of some of my other designs:
I try to make a wide variety of styles so there's something for everyone. You can find my full shop here. Thank you to everyone who has contributed so far!
I'm back! Turns out there was a weird glitch and my posts have been pretty much shadowbanned this past week. I would like to thank everyone who has contributed this past week and probably could not see my previous thank yous.
For those who haven't seen my posts yet, my best friend (the best person I have EVER known) is Palestinian, and a lot of his friends and family in Palestine and around the rest of the Levant are being hurt directly and/or financially by the attacks on Gaza, the increasing Israeli raids in the West Bank and the collateral damage in surrounding countries. ALL PROCEEDS from these designs will go to helping his girlfriend afford to join him in America safely and helping his other loved ones weather the violence and financial hardship.
The new designs above (and a bunch more) can be found here. Available on stickers, shirts, pins, prints, etc (click on each to see more product options).
We're hopeful that the ceasefire will mitigate the harm being done to my friend's family going forward. He's already had some loved ones hurt that this money can help so for now I will continue the fundraising (plus we do not feel safe hoping that the ceasefire will last, unfortunately). For now his girlfriend has remained safe and financial planning for her trip here is going okay. Most of his immediate family is okay (extended family and friends not entirely so unfortunately). I will keep updates somewhat vague to protect their privacy. We greatly appreciate all your help!
Wanted to share this one again as my most popular design so far!
Astronomia from Margarita Philosophica, Gregor Reisch, 1503 over a contemporary NASA photo of the milky way. Prints available on shirts, stickers, magnets, etc! https://www.redbubble.com/shop/ap/152284224
Hey, whoever is sending me messages, that feature is completely broken on my account for some reason, I've never been able to see or read any of them, sorry
The Jaffa orange holds a lot of symbolism for the Palestinian struggle. This varietal was developed in the 19th century and named for the city Jaffa, where it was first produced for export. It was a major export of the region until the industry declined under British rule and disruption from WWII. Finally the establishment of Israel caused irreparable damage as groves were seized or destroyed by settlers. Israel took over production on seized land but never achieved the same success with the crop, and what remained of Palestine suffered ongoing violence and blockades preventing the industry from further success. The Jaffa orange has remained a symbol of the Palestinian homeland, most notably in Ghassan Khanafani's short story The Land of Sad Oranges.
This orange with a Palestinian flag for a leaf can be found here on shirts, stickers, mugs and more. ALL PROCEEDS from Palestine related sales will go to my Palestinian best friend to help him bring his girlfriend over to America. Any left over will be used to help his other loved ones around the Levant who are being hurt directly and/or financially by the attacks on Gaza, the increasing Israeli raids in the West Bank and the collateral damage in surrounding countries. All designs available here.
Thank you so much to the three customers who bought stickers, a mug and a hoodie yesterday! You are very kind, your help is greatly appreciated.
Here's a sample of some of the things that have sold from my fundraising shop recently. Sorry I've been so checked out, we're super busy with the student protests here. I encourage everyone to get involved with whatever your campus is doing for Palestine!
As usual ALL PROCEEDS from my shop are for my best friend who is Palestinian. The extra income will help him support his friends and family in Palestine and around the rest of the Levant who are being hurt directly and/or financially by the attacks on Gaza, the raids and economic devastation in the West Bank and the collateral damage in surrounding countries. He will donate anything his family doesn't need to the Palestinian charities he works with.
You can find my shop HERE. To see a design on different products click on the display product and scroll down or go here to browse by design. Designs are available on many other products too (bags, magnets, notebooks, etc). Note that you can also pick the background color on a lot of the clothes.
Thank you to everyone who has helped out so far! We greatly appreciate all the support.
This poem, If We Must Die by Claude McKay was written during the Red Summer, 1919. It has since been adopted to represent many groups facing persecution. I pair it here with a field of poppies and a faint keffiyeh pattern, emblematic of the Palestinian struggle. I may make a more elaborate version in the future, I have some ideas. For now, this is available on stickers, shirts, prints, etc.
As usual, ALL PROCEEDS from this are for my Palestinian best friend, to help his girlfriend afford to join him safely in America and to help his friends and family in Palestine and around the rest of the Levant who are being hurt directly and/or financially by the attacks on Gaza, the increasing Israeli raids in the West Bank and the collateral damage in surrounding countries. You can find this design here. All designs here. By the way you can change the color on the shirts if you don't like the white background.
Thank you to everyone who has contributed!
Here are a few of the stickers from my fundraiser that have sold recently:
My designs are also available on various other products such as pins, shirts, notebooks, hats, etc.
As usual EVERYTHING I RAISE is for my best friend, a Palestinian grad student living in America. Starving grad student running a small Redbubble shop (initially for side income, now for fundraising for my Palestinian friend). Made this blog to share my designs, found here: https://www.redbubble.com/people/fairiedance/shopMy best friend (an absolutely brilliant scientist and compassionate social activist, seriously the best person ever) is a Palestinian grad student studying in America, and a lot of his friends and family are being affected by the genocide in Gaza and the fallout in the West Bank and surrounding areas. I have started selling Palestine related designs in my shop. EVERYTHING I RAISE he sends to his loved ones to help in various ways as the situation progresses.Designs not related to Palestine have been removed from my shop for now (probably for good at this point).
