In Perfect Victims, [Mohammed] El-Kurd observes how victims must be “sanitized and subdued” before anyone can sympathize with them: “One could say the same about sexual assault victims: we must notify the listener that the victim was sober and dressed appropriately,” he writes. Sexual violence researchers have drawn comparisons between political discourse about Israel and Palestine and the tactics wielded by abusers. First, there’s DARVO (deny, attack, reverse victim-offender), which we see when strikes on Gaza schools are justified by Israel’s “right to defend itself.” Then, there’s “orchestrated complexity,” the manufacturing of nuance that always privileges the abuser; this is often achieved by starting in the middle of an abusive situation, when a victim first resists or responds to abuse. Most news reports about Gaza start with October 7 and nothing before it.

netanyahu is a scumbag and will burn in hell forever, don't get me wrong, but the idea that hamas is the good guys and they would've handed over the civillians they kidnapped and tortured and raped if only israel asked nicely is naive as hell. hamas and the israeli government+military all need to be executed by the hague. hamas are no different to the taliban, and anyone thinking otherwise is proving they haven't been listening to palestinian women or gay palestinians or non-muslim palestinians, because these groups have been speaking for decades about how brutal hamas's reign has been and how they need to be removed for liberation to ever happen. terminally online people pretend to care about palestine for social media pats on the back, but they only care about liberating palestine from israel, not about truly liberating palestinians from the undemocratic violent theocracy they're stuck living under.
On top of there not being any evidence of maltreatment of Israeli hostages, we know Hamas would release the hostages because they have done it numerous times across the years, including in the past eight months, though diplomacy, in case you just joined the conversation on Palestine.
Hamas was democratically elected, whether you like it or not. Hamas are Palestinians, and who makes up Hamas? Victims of Israeli violence. Hamas have treated the hostages in their care with drastically greater humanity than Israel ever treated Palestinian captives, a fact made evident by merely looking at pictures of the smiling freed Israeli hostages vs. the horrific state of anyone coming out of Israeli captivity. Comparing them to the Taliban, the first thing that comes to your mind when you think of terrorists, shows how much understanding you have of Muslim societies.
On top of this, you are sending this to a Palestinian woman whose husband’s family in Gaza has lived there as Christians for generations, and guess who destroyed their oldest church? Not Hamas, but Israel. Guess who bombed and killed a number of them? Not Hamas, but Israel. Guess who caused them everlasting suffering and trauma? Not Hamas, but Israel. And guess who has displaced all of them? Not Hamas, but Israel. I can tell you right now that that they would choose to be ruled by Hamas over the fucking terrorist state that is actively seeking their annihilation.
The infantilisation of Palestinians and painting them as if they need outside help to guide their liberation is disgusting. It's not the job of non Palestinians to determine what liberation looks like for us or to map out our way towards freedom for us.
My past has tasted bitter
For years now
So I wield an iron fist
Grace is just weakness
Or so I've been told
I've been cold, I've been merciless
But the blood on my hands
scares me to death
Maybe I'm waking up today
I'll be good, I'll be good
And I'll love the world,
like I should
For all of the bruises I've caused
and the tears
For all of the things that I've done
all these years
"Without him, I may have stayed in the Mafia. Murdering people."
are you tearing up cause "I'll be good" lyrics fit Dazai well? Same.

Every time I see some moral panic article about how some alarming % of teens admit to vaping or smoking or doing drugs or whatever, I think about that time in 9th grade when school handed us a survey on substance use, told us we had to fill it out, and me and a half dozen friends reported that we’d been habitual users of heroin, cocaine, and acid since the age of 9.
