Request : *verbal request from my friend* Can I have a Joel Miller fic of Reader coming out to Joel as Trans after they get attacked? Platonic/Parental relationship !

Summary : While on the road to get to Tommy, Joel and Reader get attacked, they get out just fine but Reader is exhausted, which leads to Reader coming out as trans and explaining that they wear a binder

You and Joel were still looking for Tommy and had stopped in a town to get some more food and supplies. While wandering in the lonely streets, you had suddenly heard people talking just across the street.  Three raiders were coming your way. It took only a second for Joel to notice them as well.

“Fuck! Run Y/N, Run” Joel suddenly whispered/screamed.

“Fucking hell Joel ! Fuck!” You said, startled.

You did as asked and ran to safety in a nearby house. Joel though, quickly hid behind an old car and took the raiders by surprise, killing one from a bullet before going to fight the other two with a knife, whom ran towards him. While Joel was fighting them the best he could, and you were hiding, you quickly realised he was gonna need help seing he had managed to kill another one but the last was putting up a great fight. Taking a deep breath, already tucking at your binder, you opened the back door of the house and ran as fast as you could to where Joel had parked the car, you knew he had extra shotguns in there, though he never let you use them.

Running as fast as you could, it took you a few minutes to get to the car, you took a shotgun he had hidden in the trunk, loaded it, took bullets with you and got ready to run again. Your ribcage was already killing you, ‘now is not the time to take my binder off’, you thought. Even out of breath you got back to running. You tripped a few times, your mind dizzy from the pain and the lack of air. You manage to get back to Joel whom was struggling, stuck under the last raider alive, He put all his strength into stopping the knife that was currently threatening to stab his throat.

Once you got a few meters away from the scene, you stopped and lifted the shot gun. Your vision was blurry but you had to do it, you had to help Joel. Gathering all the strength you had left and taking one last short breath, you shot the raider in the arm, hurting him just enough so that Joel could get back on top of him, steal his knife and cut his throat.

But your brain had reached its limits, you fell to the ground, desperately tucking your binder in a last desperate attempt at breathing,you just needed a little more air. Joel, instantly worried about you, ran to your side and picked up your head, laying it on his legs.

“Are you okay?! Fuck Y/N are you hurt!?” Joel asked you in a grave voice.

“Hm Hm, yeah, I’m fine, I just need to catch my breath” You whispered, your eyes were closed. You were focused on trying to breathe through your stomach.

“Y/N look at me, you don’t seem fine”Joel said. You could sense the panic in his voice although it was steady.

“I- I … I can’t breathe, give me a minute please”You said, your voice cracking up with each word.

“Why? Why Y/N ? let me see”With his words Joel went to lift up your shirt but you quickly stopped him, your eyes now open and looking right at him.

“NO! No… Please, Joel, Don’t…”You struggled to breathe. “Don’t look.”

“Y/N please, I need to know what’s wrong.”

Your head was spinning, your eyes were in his. Not knowing what was happening anymore, you decided to tell him. You knew you would have to say it someday, well today was the day, right there, hardly breathing in his arms.

“I’m just, I’m… I’m wearing a binder Joel…” You waited but he didn’t say anything, of course he didn’t understand what you meant. “I’m trans, Joel. I’m wearing a binder, to compress my chest.”

“Okay”He simply said.

“Yeah, just give me a few minutes”You repeated, very nervous.

You and Joel stayed like that, your head on his lap, in complete silence for a few minutes. His gaze alternated between you and the streets, checking for any danger. Yours was fixed on him, still waiting for him to say something, anything. Finally, after what felt like forever, you breath steadied and your head stopped spinning.

“I’m sorry”You said suddenly.

“For what?”Joel replied.

“For what I said, for fainting, for who I am…”You started crying.

“Hey, it’s okay kid. I can’t force you take off that thing. It seems important to you” Joel assumed respectfully.

“It is, it really is” You quickly noted.

“And if it stops your breathing obviously it’s gonna make you faint,it’s fine,just be careful, you won’t have to save my ass next time hopefully.” He laughed a bit at the end. “And never apologise for who you are kid, you do you, I respect that”

“But, But it’s not normal, I’m not normal Joel.. I-I hate myself and I hate my body, and I hate how I have to wear this binder to feel like myself while it kills me slowly and put us in danger. Fuck, I’m so sorry Joel”You are left sobbing on his lap, turning to hide your face.

Joel lifted you and hugged you tightly. One of his hand in your hair caressing it to sooth you.

“shhh, it’s okay, you’re just a kid you’ll be fine, we’ll be fine. You are you and it’s all that matters. I am not mad at you. I just want you to know I see you as you and nothing else, this thing or not I don’t care. What I care about is you, and I’m sure if your chest really bothers you we can find a doctor that can do something about it. It’s okay kid” He declared.

“Thank you, thank you so much Joel” You continued crying, but were relieved.

“It’s okay, now let’s get going, it’s not safe to stay out there”He reminded you.

Eventually Joel let go off you and helped you get up. He smiled softly at you before taking the shotgun and walking back the car. You had had enough action for today.

“You fucking idiot.”

As a A-Rank Hunter, it’s your job to be in very dangerous situation. But right now, you don’t know what is more dangerous between a high-risk dungeon and Baek Yoonho in front of you, with a stare that can only be described as murderous.

The two of you are been friend for a long time, became hunters at the same time in the Fiend Guild and you followed Baek Yoonho when he decided to found the White Tiger Guild. You were in charge of helping/training the new recruit in the low-ranking dungeon and as often as you could you would join for high-ranking one.

A dungeon opened and your guild had to clear it as fast as you can with other hunters. Everything went smoothly until the boss room. Even if you beat the monster, it was a difficult combat and you closed the dungeon with some injuries, one bigger than the others.

Thankfully, healers were here and with no time, you were good to go again. What you did not expect was for Yoonho to come right at you when you let the others heal everyone else. Slowly pulling you aside, you can see in his eyes a mix of emotions but murder is the main one. You smiled at him sheepishly:

“It was not that bad…just a scratch, you know?”

“A scratch? Don’t fool me Y/n, I saw your wound before it was healed and you can’t call it “just” a scratch.” He said, hardening his stare.

You did not understand his reaction. Yes, Baek Yoonho, is known for always protecting his guild members but he never loses his control like that when someone get hurt.

“Yoonho, I’m fine okay, I got hit, it sucks but it is part of the job. Now, if you excuse me, I need to go home and change so I’m not in my bloody armor anymore.”

It was not like you to snap at him like that but you were tired and the only thing that you wanted was to take a shower, not to argue with your best friend.

--evening--

As your guild master, Baek needed to stay professional but he can’t help letting his head take over when it’s you. When he saw that you were injured pretty badly, the only thing in his mind was to murder the already dead creature in the dungeon. He knows that you are strong, he saw it with his own eyes during multiple raids but seeing his most important person getting hurt was not something he planned today.

For him, you were more than a friend but he kept his feeling for himself, not wanting to break your long-time friendship. Being with you is more than enough for him, however, it became more and more complicated to hide those feeling, especially of something bad is happening to you (like today).

Looking out through the window, he was replaying the moment over and over in his head and exhaled. He acted like a prick to you because of his own worries and emotions. he really needs to apologize. How could he continue if you were not by his side because of what he did, it is a bit overdramatic of him but he didn’t care, he was the one in the wrong here. He quicky took his phone and typed quickly a message before leaving the Guild HQ.

*At your house*

The shower did miracle to your tired body and mind, making you think about what happened with Yoonho today. You shouldn’t have used the tone you had when you left him. He was just worried about your well being like every guild master and that’s it. Writing a note in your head to apologize tomorrow, at the same moment, you heard your phone’s ring for receiving a notification: 2 messages from “Tiger”

Y/n, can we meet up? I want to talk

Same bar as usual.

Speaking of the devil, smiling slightly, you texted back an “okay” and prepare yourself to go out

*At the bar*

After ordering your drinks, the both of you went to sit on your usual seat, in the corner. You liked this bar for its quietness and tranquility. You could just enjoy your drink without being disturbed by someone that wanted a picture with you or with Yoonho (not that you don’t mind but it’s nice to have a calm moment). There was a weird silence between you, before Yoonho broke it with a sigh:

“I want to apologize for today.”

You looked at him with curiosity: “Apologize?”

“Yes, I let my emotions do the talking and I act like you were the only one responsible for the raid. I’m sorry Y/n.”

You shook your head.

“You don’t have to apologize; I was in the wrong to leave you like that and I’m sorry. You were just worried, right? I would be pretty worried too if my best friend got injured, which happen a lot, huh?”

Trying to light up the conversation with a joke, Yoonho laugh slightly covering the small disappointment in his eyes. Friend, again this word. Maybe because of today, this time his heart broke a little bit more in his chest.

“I just don’t understand why you were that worried, I mean, we fought together and it was not the first time that you saw me being reckless and facing the consequences.”

Yoonho took some minutes to think about his answers, is it Fate that give him a sign to finally express his feeling? Or is it just a sick joke of it? You saw him letting out a breath and his stare became intense:

“Do you remember when I said to you that I wanted to create my own guild?”

“Yes, it something that I will never forget.”

“And how you said that you will always follow me so we can fight together…”

It was strange to see Yoonho nervous and you did not like that. In your entire life together, you only saw this nervous state when something bad was happening to you, like the time you got sick and you didn’t show up at a report meeting.

“Okay Tiger, spill it out, you’re worrying me. If it is because of today, I can apologize a thousand times.”

Groaning, Baek shook his head. Why it is so difficult?

“It is not about today, I mean it is but..Fuck, I just hate to see you hurt after a raid, especially if I’m not here because it means that I can’t protect the one person I love.”

He finally said it.

Oh…

Oh.

You felt your brain short-circuiting at his confession:

“You love me?”

“For a while now, it was easy to fall for you. You’re strong, handsome and just seeing your smile can brighten my day. I never said anything, fearing of breaking our friendship.

You can still not believe it. Your feelings for Yoonho were also complicated. He is your best friend and you never want to lose that. Being with him is everything to for you but you saw the changes, how your stare at him with something more in your eyes, how the small touches were lingering more than they should. However, you never felt Baek responding to them so you assumed that he was just seeing you as his best friend and colleague.

Getting out of your head, you can’t help but laugh at the situation the both of you are in, which result of Yoonho giving you a bewildered stare. You tried to stop but thinking about everything makes you laughing more:

“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to laugh…it’s just that, I-I love you too Yoonho. But you never seem to see the small moves that I could do so I just stopped…Omg we’re two idiots, it’s crazy.”

Continuing laughing your heart out, you heard Yoonho letting out a funny snort and he joined you in your hilarious state. When the two of you calmed a bit, you took a sip of your drink and give him a loving smile. Yoonho did the same and took your hand in his, squeezing it, a manner to promise that yes, you will always fight and be together even if your relationship changed a bit.

You were just two idiots but two idiots in love and now with your feelings out of the bags, everything’s going to be fine, much to the relief of Choi Jong-in, that was at his limits of seeing the two of you pinning for each other during shared raids.
