The spring weather brought a newness everyone craved after a cold winter. A Spring day was often linked to newfound love and quite literally, labeled as the season for weddings. For you and your husband, it meant the birth of your baby girl. The insecurity as new parents to the overwhelming need to protect this innocent life intermingled with a kind of love you didn’t know existed.

As the first month passed, your admiration only bubbled over, watching your husband cradle her tiny body in his arms, staring into her with this doe-like eyes he managed to keep even at 30 years old. The way he would carefully lean her against his shoulder to burp her or how softly he used his voice to sing her to sleep. His confidence taking on the tasks of a father exuded you, bringing you an extra sense of safety. For you, there wasn’t anyone else that could compare to Jungkook.

It was later in the morning, and you finished with your normal exercise routine. Your body was still recovering, leaving you to lay flat on your mat, breathless. It took a few minutes before you could pull yourself up. You groaned as you walked out of the sunroom and into the kitchen for a cold glass of water. You sighed, relishing in the quiet of your home.

“Babe?” You spoke softly, walking into his office only to find it empty. The baby monitor left where you last saw it before you left to work out. You trailed up the stairs and into your bedroom, the sunlight warmed the space, enveloping you as you stepped in. You melted at the sight before you, causing you to stop in your footsteps.

Jungkook lay on his side, his back facing you, humming quietly. His hand caressed a sleeping Eun Jung’s cheek while she slept, cooing every once in a while. His whisper of a laugh entered your ears and you were certain your heart could burst.

“How can someone be this cute while sleeping?” He chuckled, running his thumb over her eyebrows and down the length of her round face.

“Mm, well your mommy is a cute sleeper too-,” he continued his conversation in a hushed tone, followed by small giggles. You watched as he closed his eyes, filling the little space between his face and Eun Jung’s, pressing his lips carefully on her baby soft skin, taking in her fresh, powdery scent. She stirred slightly causing him to pull back with wide eyes, worried he had woken her.

“Sh, sh-” he started, continuing with a slight melody. Your footsteps drew you further into the bedroom, leading you to stand at the foot of the bed. Jungkook felt your presence, looking up at you. He groaned, embarrassed, and covering his face.

You chuckled, climbing on top of him carefully so as not to disturb your baby. He received you, wrapping his arms around your waist, “you heard everything?”

You smiled against his lips, nodding, “do you mind?”

He chuckled, pressing his lips to yours before looking back at you. He smiled, brushing your hair back, “no.” You shared a few kisses before he made space for you to lay next to Eun Jung while he filled the space behind you, wrapping his arms around you. He breathed lightly in your ear, watching as you grazed your slender finger over the tiny features of your baby’s face.

“Ah,” he sighed close to your ear, “just looking at her brings me to tears,” he chuckled.

You smiled, resting your face next to Eun Jung’s, your nose gently pressed against her cheek. The smile in Jungkook’s voice was evident as he laid his head against yours, reaching over and grabbing hold of Eun Jung’s hand. She moaned peacefully, instinctively wrapping her hand around his fingers.

you’re running, running as if your life depends on it. it really does as you glance at them over your shoulder, their red eyes chasing you, their sickening laughs haunting you and sending chills throughout your entire body.

a scream leaves your mouth as you stumble upon something, taking you to the ground. you whimper as you do your best to crawl away, the pain in your body unbearable. you feel something grab your ankle, a hand with abnormally long fingers circling around you and pulling you back quickly-

a gasp leaves your lips as you sit up abruptly, your chest heaving as you breathe heavily. you glance around the dark room, calming down immediately as you find yourself in your boyfriend’s bedroom.

“baby, what’s going on?” jimin asks from beside you, his voice groggy and hoarse as he reaches for you. you jump lightly at his touch against your naked back, still slightly traumatized by your terrifying dream.

jimin notices how you’re slightly on edge, slightly shaking against the palm of his hand. he sits up beside you, kissing your shoulder softly as he waits for you to be completely calm.

“i’m sorry, i woke you up,” you apologize, your voice barely above a whisper. he smiles against your shoulder, his palm moving up and down your arm as to comfort you, calm you down.

what you don’t know is that jimin has been awake since you starting mumbling in your sleep, the whimper of your voice worrying him. so as the caring person that he is, he stayed awake, unable to fall asleep as long as you were knitting your eyebrows together, whimpering as if you were terrified of whatever you were dreaming about.

“it’s okay,” he assures you, “i couldn’t sleep anyway.”

you look at him, your eyes meeting him. you find comfort in them, his soft, warm eyes giving you the safety and assurance you need after having such a terrifying dream.

“bad dream?” you nod as he reaches up, tugging a strand of hair behind your ear. a smile tugs at the corner of your lips when he leans forward, pressing his lips to your cheek. you let him pull you into his arms, laying down with him. he pulls the covers around the both of you, hugging you closer to his chest.

“go back to sleep,” he whispers, kissing your forehead. “i’ll be right here to protect you.”

you huff out in amusement, loving how he hugs you close against his chest, his fingertips tickling up and down your spine. you bury your face in the nape of his neck, kissing the skin there softly.

“thank you,” you whisper against his skin, a deeper meaning behind it, which only he knows about. that alone makes you squeeze him tighter, smiling as you fall back to sleep without nightmares this time.

The coloring is a little bit off, actually a lot, but you can’t really tell him that, can you? He seems to be encouraged by your praise, your heart beaming when he looks up at you and gives you a grin, his two front teeth missing.

You praise other kids at the table, somehow content how silent the room is. Well, apart from the occasional squeals, laughs and toys crashing down the floor every few seconds, but that’s just something you got used to very quickly. Now it’s just a noise you can listen to without having the need to go somewhere quiet. However, headaches make an occasional appearance once you get back home, the place empty from all the kids noises and their presence. You can’t say you hate it though, you actually miss them a lot.

You wouldn’t do this job if you didn’t like kids. And these particular amazing and cute kids that you get to see five days a week somehow sneaked their way into your heart, so you easily have grown attached to them. You could not see them for one week and feel like they’ve grown too quickly. Not for nothing people say you can see the real time passing by on kids. It’s true.
