Black Panther: Wakanda Forever spoilers ahead
The love letter to Haiti, the world’s first Black republic, a kind of real world Wakanda, was woven throughout Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Griot, the name of Shuri’s AI, is also the name of the Haitian national food. Nakia was working at a Wakandan Outreach center in Haiti and teaching young people new ways to make efficient use of Haiti’s resources without depleting the small nation. Since the 2010 earthquake, Haiti has made significant strides towards reforestation, redeveloping its economy and rebuilding a once thriving tourism sector. In the film, Haitians were shown speaking French as well as Kreyòl (Haitian Creole). They were speaking their language instead of only that of the French colonizers driven out over 200 years ago but whose stain remains.

Shuri traveled in a camionette, a brightly colored truck that often has a metal or fabric canopy and serves as ride-share taxis all over Haiti. Vehicle ownership is not very common so traveling by camionette is necessary. They are also called taptaps, possibly because of the sound riders make when they “tap-tap” on the side of the truck to let the driver know they wish to exit the camionette.

And finally, young Toussaint. He shares his Haitian name with the “father of Haiti”, Toussaint Louverture. He was born into slavery and eventually became a freeman. But he also led the most successful slave revolt in history and cleared the road for Haitian independence.

the uk and ireland is experiencing a heatwave so here’s what i think the derry girls would say about it🤝🫡
okay but yugi and joey being physically affectionate please
yugi, who grew up having only one friend (and probably didn't know how to ask for affection from a girl he liked)
and joey, who was separated from his sister and mother at a young age and grew up with his abusive dad, and had to put on a Tough Guy™ front cuz he felt like that was the only way to protect himself
yugi and joey slowly getting used to each other and opening up in subtle ways before realizing dear god, we are both so touch starved
yugi and joey starting off a bit awkward, neither of them really know how to be that openly affectionate yet, but maybe joey starts patting yugi on the back, maybe yugi starts grabbing joeys arm
yugi and joey getting closer and closer and they don't even realize they've been holding hands for the past ten minutes, they don't even realize how natural it feels for them to lean on each other
yugi and joey, awkward kids who grew up pretty lonely and isolated in their own ways, learning through each other how to open up to people and be affectionate
yugi absolutely drowning in one of joeys bear hugs please
What’s the fandom like for Beyblade on Wattpad? Like, is it active? Do people still read stories on there? Because the stories aren’t good and I would like to make a contribution. I know that on AO3, my story didn’t get that much traction but people still liked it. And I wouldn’t mind publishing over on Wattpad as well. I just don’t want to waste my time.
what’s a YA fiction novel 👀?
young adult fiction novels like Percy Jackson or Hunger Games. pretty much any book that’s as marketed to 14-22 year olds back in the early 2000-2010’s. i have no idea what any of the popular YA fiction is today
Everybody’s reaction to meeting Yu for the first time:
yea those are all good points I think it’s up to your imagination for the rest. I do want a explanation for his weird flying thing in ep 14,18 and 19 no one comments on it...
No, because where did he get the ability to travel anywhere he wants whenever he wants?? Man’s can literally phase in and out of the world and no one bats an eye. I get that he’s dramatic but I need some explanation for that. I wonder if it’s something he got from Naga…
