did the show just delete the fact that percy was a wanted criminal in the entirety of the lightning thief? gabe gave an interview, blaming percy for sally's dissappearence, which made him the primary suspect. like the police was after him when they blew up the bus and his iconic 'my stepdad is a really sweet person' speech to a journalist after jumping from saint monica arc, people conspiring that they were manipulated into a t*rrorist group after his fight with ares. like????? where's all that?? where's the good stuff???
Oh, thank goodness, I was hoping I didn't come across wrong. I was trynna have a literary debate if sorts I guess.
I'm not saying that Severus did everything out of obsession and revenge is a fact. I said that him being a dick is a fact. What I am saying about the revenge part is that one wouldn't have had to think too much to come to the conclusion that those were the reasons. And even if you did think about it a whole lot, you could still feel like that's the truth.
Also, I am saying that what he did for protecting Harry was an apologetic action towards Lily, not obsession. And I am not too sure about the obsession part because there is a very fine line between obsession and sincere love. And I totally agree about him blaming himself because if we pulled apart the sweater, the last wool string would lead to Severus.
You know, Harry never knew his father, not like many people get to. So he didn't have a single bad memory of him, and all that people talked about James was good stuff, him being dead and all, apart from Severus, but Harry had always viewed Snape from a somewhat wary/borderline hateful way, so obviously he didn't believe a word Severus said. Which lead to Harry believing that James was wonderful, which he might have. And with James being the sperm donor and all for Harry, Harry obviously felt a strong "connection" to him, therefore the naming. So, personally, what I think is him naming his son James isn't wrong at all, but neither his naming his son Severus (though I do kinda hoped that he had more kids to name Rubeus or Remus, I also I kinda wish that they wouldn't have been, like, 5th or 6th options)
I can see how it'd be kinda kinda unfair to have no one else be thankful to him, but , like, naming a child after them is no small thing. Like, it literally shapes the entire person accordingly. And, even if now Severus is dead, he will be remembered whenever anyone sees or hears tye whole name of Harry Potter, the Chosen One's second son, of Albus.
People get mad that Harry named his son after Severus. However I’m leaning more towards the fact that Snape did the most thankless job even after being mistreated all of his life by the people he was saving and working with and the only thanks he gets- the only time anyone has decided to remember a single thing he did- it’s when Harry is naming his spawn.
Severus is not even the spawn’s first name, it’s his second name. Oh yeah and he threw in some half-baked dialogue about how Severus was brave. Wow truly what a fucking treat, what an homage.
And people are complaining that he didn’t name his kid after Hargid (or Lupin I don’t think which is pretty sad and also thankless). And I agree, but instead of switching out Severus’s name, take out James’s.
He named one of his kids James Sirius Potter (which is just so cringe) and like my question is why? Sirius is perfectly understandable but why James? James has done absolutely nothing-and I mean-NOTHING for Harry apart from get compared to him and has basically acted as a sperm donor to Harry. No- not a father, because being a father actually requires raising ur kid- no James’s only merit is that he had a wizard messiah in his ballsack. Brilliant.
unpopular opinion but i dont think annabeth should have thrown the dagger at luke.
she should have stayed invisible and during the fight luke and percy suddenly hear clapping coming from nowhere and annabeth's voice singing "oh golly the road's getting bumpy.."
totally would have stopped the rest of the events from the next 4 books happening
In another, better world Cassian would be reading all the romances Nesta reads and taking notes just as she does with his war texts, and he would start analyzing the way he communicates because he wants to be like one of these men in these books written by women. So, Cassian starts doing things like he’d expect one of these characters to do and suddenly… Nesta feels a little bit hot every time Cassian’s near. She gets blushy even. Flustered. And Cassian is LIVING for her reactions.
I saw a post abt this the other day but it's been eating me up inside so I gotta get it in writing. Plus it was in meme format when I saw it so I wanna make sure the gravity of this particular thing is out there somewhere bc I said so.
Annabeth was under the impression for most of her life that she had to earn love and respect from those around her. First from her father after he remarried, and she had to earn his attention back from his wife and kids. Then once she got to camp, she had to earn the admiration of the other campers, her siblings, Chiron and Mr. D, and basically everyone but Luke (because she earned his and Thalia's respect by simply surviving so long after running away). AND THEN she had to earn Athena's respect. That was the ultimate reward in her opinion, because that's kinda what I imagine they teach at camp: "You have to earn the respect of the gods to get them to look at you, let alone respect or, heaven forbid, love you." It's fucked up but its true. It's one of the first things Luke tells Percy upon his arrival. It's how you get claimed, earn a quest, and get all these things that Camp deems so important.
And then Annabeth meets Percy.
Percy, who, despite having his own traumas and tough road to hoe, still knows the feeling of an unconditionally loving home and person. He never had to earn Sally's love. She loved him despite him getting kicked out of school every year, despite him being stubborn and kinda an ass sometimes. She loved him despite his own view of himself. She shoved all that aside and loved her son because THATS HOW PARENTING WORKS.
And then you shove these two little kids together who've had wildly different backgrounds and I bet you'd get some interesting conversations (although they aren't shown a lot in the book or the show). Like Annabeth having to explain all the shit she's done to get her mother's attention and Percy being like "well damn."
And then he starts to notice that she applies this to other relationships too. She starts doing certain things that Percy notices as trying to gain his respect and it gets worse as they get closer and he finally has to be like "hey, you know I like you, right? like you don't have to prove yourself to me" and Annabeth has whiplash because she's never not had to earn love.
It just makes their relationship so much better to me.
Holly really just picked 2 attempts at murder and declared them flirting and I am not over it to this day.
Ngl tho, "hot" will also be my 1st thought if someone like Jude, fkn JUDE DUARTE (ehum), would hold a knife to my throat, but yea-
Though I would prefer not to drown........bye-
I've been mad since 2022 for him being dead beat and the moment he showed up from the random burnt ice cream, I knew I was a goner
I SPENT EIGHT EPISODES SHITTING ON DEAD-BEAT DAD POSEIDON ONLY FOR RICK RIORDAN TO MAKE ME REGRET MY WORDS IN THE LAST TWO. HONESTLY. I AM SO MAD IT IS NOT EVEN FUNNY. FUCK HIM.
