I've always wondered why the Romans think demigods all of a sudden started getting claimed? They couldn't know about Percy's deal with Olympus, so what do they think happened?
The gods were probably like "as a reward for fighting in the war we will now claim you all!"
The Romans were probably pretty proud of that.
Then like a year later this conversation happens:
Annabeth: and then after Percy made the gods promise to claim all their children-
Jason: THAT WAS YOU?!
Percy: yeah. Why did you think the god suddenly started claiming everybody?
and the award for most beautiful character arc in all of cinema goes to:
The fact that both of these things came true in the end š„¹
on one hand iām interested in what the rwrb movie is gonna be like but on the OTHER hand iām Not interested in what the general public is gonna say about rwrb
i'm really normal about this series
i think itās a pretty common headcanon that whenever there is a spider, annabeth freaks the fuck out. which is super weird to most people, because sheās like⦠the bravest person ever. even if you donāt know sheās a demigod, sheās just a badass. but if thereās a spider, sheās screaming bloody murder and jumping up on tables and counters. and of course, percy always comes and kills it for her. no matter what heās doing or where he is.
but i think what would be even weirder for people (who donāt know her extremely well) is how seriously percy takes it. i feel like girls being scared of spiders and having their male partners come kill it is such a basic āweak white girlā stereotype. and it usually is funny, even to the one whoās scared. so when annabeth does this and starts screaming for percy, people would start laughing. naturally, right? haha itās so funny that annabeth chase is so scared of bugs. and after percy runs in and takes care of it, they would expect him to be laughing too and poke fun at her.
except itās the exact opposite. thereās nothing funny about his expression. his jaw is hard-set and his sea green eyes are full of nothing but concern. he does a thorough examination of the surrounding area, makes absolutely sure there arenāt others and gets rid of any webs, and then goes straight to her. and his first question, every single time, is āyou okay?ā nothing but concern and support. and if the legendary fearless annabeth chase needs her boyfriend/husband to carry her across the room, because she doesnāt want to step on the rug now, you know dam well heās gonna carry her across the room without a second thought. and youād better not laugh at her, or else percyās gonna give you the most scolding glare youāve ever received, and itās gonna make your arm/neck hairs stick straight up and your blood turn to ice.
and it would take people off guard every single time. because heās not laughing at her. he takes her fear completely seriously. and itās because he knows about her past. heās seen her face her worst horrors. he knows what happened with archane.
he knows exactly why sheās so scared of spiders, and to him, thereās nothing funny about it.
Locke: Remember when I kissed Jude in the garden?
Cardan: I recall your mouth was on her. But her eyes were on me.
LIKE, woah. The possessiveness practically DRIPPING from his tone. Yes I know that we didn't hear hear it. But let's be honest, we all heard it loud and clear
But you know what he still did? Blindly trusted that Grover couldn't possibly be the friend who betrays him from the prophecy. It never even crossed his mind that Grover had stood against him even if it was for protecting him. Because, I mean, I don't think any friend would just accept it that easily. Ykwim?
Percyās face when Sally mentioned Grover playing a role in getting him kicked out of schoolā¦
The way his face scrunches up really tight before relaxing? Thatās anger.
But not the kind of anger we see in him in the last episode.
This is the kind of anger that makes you cry. The kind thatās underpinned by embarrassment and hurt and feeling like youāve been treated unfairly.
Percy knows he didnāt push Nancy into the fountain and he thought that, if anyone would have his back, it was going to be Grover. And then he didnāt. And itās unfair to Percy. Itās Wrong. Because no one believes him, apparently not even his best friend.
And the way he closes his eyes and takes a really deep breath? Thatās a tactic thatās literally recommended to stop yourself from crying when youāre angry. It allows your body to ācatch upā with your mind.
What do you wanna bet that Percy learned that from a school counselor?
I remember going "EEEEE" while reading thatšš
I am on my millionth reread of TCP and I noticed something!
You remember our beloved scene when Cardan tells her "Did I tell you how hideous you look tonight?" and then "I cannot"? Jude was completely out of it before. She was literally close to a panic attack and Cardan is one hell of an observant motherfucker. This was his way of snapping her out of it, probably even trying to cheer her up. He already knew he couldn't say it, and even Jude noticed his soft tone making it sound like a compliment. Because it was meant to be one, and it worked because it snapped Jude right back into the moment, even if only because it annoyed her. But of course it did, because as usual, Jude presumed he is messing with her.
I don't know how I missed this before, but it makes me feel so soft š„ŗš„ŗš„ŗ The way he started to look out for her in these subtle ways. I am so weak for them.
āIt's taboo to admit that you're lonely. You can make jokes about it, of course. You can tell people that you spend most of your time with Netflix or that you haven't left the house today and you might not even go outside tomorrow. But rarely do you ever tell people about the true depths of your loneliness, about how you feel more and more alienated from your friends each passing day and you're not sure how to fix it. It seems like everyone is just better at living than you are. A part of you knew this was going to happen. Growing up, you just had this feeling that you wouldn't transition well to adult life, that you'd fall right through the cracks. And look at you now, it's happening.ā
