Sarah J. Maas Book Cover Redesigns

If people want them, I can make these into mobile/desktop wallpapers for patrons. See below for Patreon link.

Recently, it was revealed that Maas’ ACOTAR book covers got a redesign.

No offense to the designer - because I try not to go out of my way to publicly bash someone’s design work that they spent time on - but I’m not alone in saying that those covers aren’t the greatest.

From a design standpoint, the colors clash too heavily with the tone of the stories. While bright colors can be fun, they don’t match the books they represent. (Not to mention the color combo on the grey hardback covers is almost hard to read because they appear less bright and look washed out.)

Maas seems to lean more on Eastern-esque art influences for reprints lately, and it’s honestly very confusing. Given the settings and characters, these do not work for the stories inside. If these covers had an updated color palette and were used for an Asian-inspired story, I think they’d be better because the illustrations are beautiful. But they’re just not ACOTAR.

I’ve made my own minimalist book covers for A Court of Thorns and Roses and A Court of Mist and Fury.

Yes I have my watermark on them. No I won’t remove them.

The original designer attempted to do a minimal look, but they didn’t take advantage of the iconography and setting these books offered for a truly illustrative and still minimal set of covers.

Stay tuned for when I do ACOWAR and ACOFAS next!

DOORS OF PERCEPTION

DOORS OF PERCEPTION

“The function of the brain and nervous system is to protect us from being overwhelmed and confused by this mass of largely useless and irrelevant knowledge, by shutting out most of what we should others perceive and remember at any given moment, leaving only that very small and special selection that is likely to be practically useful.”

-Dr. D. C. Broad

Huxley expands on this quote in his work The Doors of Perception by siting why we have systems of perception; survival. He literally breaks down why the human mind translates so little of the information we take in.

Consciousness, as a field of study, has came a long way from the acid culture of Huxley’s era but that doesn’t mean we’ve disproved many of his views. In fact, quite the opposite has taken place. We now know that the human brain processes about 400 billion bits of information per second but we only perceive about 4,300 bits of said information. That’s a really fancy way of saying Huxley was right and we only need about .01% of the information our brains take in from the stream of consciousness- or the outside world.

Now, what Huxley called a reduction valve of our consciousness can actually be lessened through meditative practice. That’s right. Ardent meditators have more developed frontal lobes and are able to take in and process more information than the average person. Modern psychologists have actually been able to gauge the physiological differences that occur in people who have meditated for prolonged periods of time.

You guys know how much I love this sort of science. Any time we see a way to change our perceptions, or a way to lessen the damage of cortisol being flooded in our systems for prolonged periods of time I will always gladly share the research. As I discover more information and track down the case studies you guys will benefit from the findings. It’s such a fascinating field.

🌷🪷why i’m unbothered by the 3d and ‘time passing’🪷🌷

the 3d or the physical world around you is a reflection of your 4d or your inner world. you can not expect things to change around you if your inner world is constantly repeating the old story. but knowing this is a beautiful thing because now you know that you have full control, all you have to do is redirect your thoughts to align with your ideal reality! use the 3d as a what you need to focus on in your inner world because the 3d is not the enemy!

things are always changing. nothing is ever set in stone. you can change your thoughts and habits. this will change the things around you when persisted in. i remember at the beginning of my journey when i wasn’t ‘seeing’ movement and i would complain it wasn’t working for me….baby it wasn’t working because i kept persisting that it wasn’t working. then one day it clicked and i decided to start affirming that things are working in my favor and that there is always movement. i would tell myself that all things are aligning perfectly for me. even if i didn’t ‘see’ it around me i knew that i was getting what i wanted. and guess what? i got all the things i wanted super fast right before my eyes. that is when i realized that the 3d truly is a reflection of my inner world.

i focused solely on my mindset/self concept for a couple days and saw such an improvement in my life and big things happened! but something clicked and i felt that i should just focus on myself because clearly by doing that the 3d is reflecting all these amazing things. you don’t have to have a perfect mindset to get what you want but it definitely is something you should work on not for just manifesting things you want but just in general to feel good about yourself. do it to feel more confident in yourself and your power. do it to feel more calm and stable.

rely on the 4d as confirmation of having everything you want because that is what will be reflected in your physical world. remember that circumstances don’t matter at all.

when it comes to ‘time passing’ it doesn’t bother me because i know that time is not linear and can not be measured. the only thing that is exists is now. and now. and now. you get the point i think. the past is simply memory and the future is what you decide by your thoughts but all that really is is now. the less you focus on time the faster things appear for you. you could want different parents and you don’t actually see them but in five minutes when your mom comes to your room it could be a totally different person that you wanted as your mom. that is why we say live in the end and know you have it already because things are always changing and the inner world is the only real reality.

i think people get caught up in past ‘failures’ for getting what they want but think about it. you never actually failed because you were applying the law correctly and getting results. might not have been the results you wanted but you knew how to apply it. this means shift your thoughts to what you want to experience thats it! remember the past only exists in memory so if you want to whenever a negative thought pops up about the past just say it never happened or say that you are always successful at getting what you want instantly (this helped me tremendously). even though it might suck that you didn’t get what you wanted because of your thoughts use that as a beautiful thing and realize that yes this means i can do it because all i have to do is affirm the opposite.

these are some affirmations that can help you live in the end, feel more calm and shift to a winners mindset!

everything is working out in my favor

everything i want is already mine

i am successful at getting what i want

i easily stick to the new story

this is everything going my way

god does not worry and i am god

i am in my ideal reality

my life is perfect and beautiful

i believe in myself

i am capable

i am limitless and powerful

manifesting is fun and easy and you deserve to have everything you want. you had the desire for a reason and that reason is that you are meant to have it and experience it! you control time and you decide how things go for you. have affirmations that make you feel comfortable and calm. i give affirmations just to help give ideas and what i use for my life and they work for me!

Nicknames your characters can use for each other~

Nicknames Your Characters Can Use For Each Other~

Poppie note: It's been a long time since I wrote any writing aid. I was looking for unique nicknames for fanfic, and realised how much I had to search, so here is your go-to guide.

Nicknames Your Characters Can Use For Each Other~

Casual: babe, baby, sweetheart, sweetie
