Bran being king makes no sense in the show and it still makes no sense in the book universe. I have no clue how in the hell GRRM plans on getting Bran there.

Will the books really end the same as the show?

I found it difficult to believe this, there are more charcaters in the books and the way they get to the ending will be different in the books, but people has said that the ending will be essentially the same as in the show, and I can’t believe this.

The reason is because the show’s ending seems to have been planted early in the show. It is said that George told D&D the ending about 6 years ago, like around season three of the show? I think. But there are things that happen in the show before that that did not happen in the books, and that were foreshadowing of the show’s ending.

First, I refuse to believe the White Walkers are going to be so insignificant in the books, that just can’t be. That dialogue between Arya and Melisandre in the show, which they  used  as a foreshadowing for Arya killing the Night King, Im sure that scene is not in the books so there the show was already planning to deviate from the books ending.

Then, Dany’s visions in The House of the Undying are so much different in the books. In the show they foreshadowed her burning of Kings Landing and her death, but none of that is in the books.

I can think of a few more examples like the Valonqar theory that didn’t make it to the show.

Idk Im still pissed about the show’ s ending, I want to discuss this, what do you think?

You can appreciate BookSansa and ShowSansa at the same time too.

you had an anon a while back who said that sansa was antagonistic at the end of the show, and i agree that she was at least unrecognizable compared to her book counterpart. she's sapped of the kindness and courtesy that defined her in the books. an example is how she tells edmure to sit down in the finale. book sansa would never humiliate her uncle like that.

That's kind of an unfair comparison because show!Sansa's story is also very different. The show veered away from her actual arc early on (nice!Hound, nice!Tyrion, no Vale arc, Ramsay... etc) and utterly de-emphasized her thematic connection to storytelling and idealism and romance.

Show!Sansa is consistent within the story the show chose to tell, more so than many other characters. She makes sense at the end, the stupid Edmure moment notwithstanding.

But she is very much a different character entirely from book!Sansa.

I think their first kiss was sweet. He just went for it! It’s Brienne’s first time, of course it’s going to be a little awkward...that’s why I loved it! Brienne’s so cute!

GUYS, WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK HAPPENS?!

Really: first of all this horrible kiss scene?! Where is this tenderness between them? Nik and Gwen played it as good as they could, but scenarists just should be burned.

And then, when Jaime left her alone. She begged him to stay, but he left. WHAT?! Is that our honorable Jaime Lannister, who returned to Harrenhall and jumped into the bear pit?! No, this is the Jaime Lannister I want to kill. He made my baby girl cry and I will never forgive it. I will if only Jaime will kill Cercei by himself!

I’m just so disappointed bc of this episode(including Missandey’s death). I really hope they’ll make things better in next two episodes, and we’ll forget about this one as a nightmare.

For The Real Madame Du Barry … Is A Very Different Person From The Popular Du Barry Of The Pamphlets

For the real Madame Du Barry … is a very different person from the popular Du Barry of the pamphlets and romances and contemporary biographies.

… On three occasions did she intercede on behalf of condemned criminals, and each time with success; she gave generously, lavishly; not only during the days when she had the Treasury to draw upon, but in later years, when her means were relatively small; nothing roused her to such indignation as the sight of cruelty or the neglect of suffering; she was the best of relatives, the most loyal of friends.

–Madame Du Barry by  H. Noel Williams.

hi, sorry to be a bother, but i was wondering if u knew any alternatives to Philippa Gregory?? I really want to get into Tudor history and I love historical fiction but I've heard so much criticism of her work xx

Unfortunately a lot of period books are going to be steeped in a certain level of creative license which sacrifices historical details to the ideal or romanticised effect. Most major Tudor writers – Weir, Plaidy, Gregory - are guilty of this. Personally I can look past this and enjoy the content for its historical setting and loose interpretation, but if that is a deal breaker for you there are a slim number of authors who will likely appeal to you. If you are disinterested in Gregory, I would recommend Alison Weir and Jean Plaidy. Their novels are chock full in historical references and are of a similar style to Gregory.  As I understand it their’s are more credible, the exception being Weir tends to take a biased standpoint, and Plaidy is more of a story-writer than she is a historian.

You’ve probably already heard of Hillary Mantel’s Wolf Hall series. I read its entirety and enjoyed it, but there are errors strewn through it. On the opposite end, Adrienne Dillard’s works tend to be more true to history and from what I’ve gathered the author herself is an all-around good person. I highly enjoyed The Raven’s Widow as opposed to Gregory’s interpretation to Jane Boleyn.  Olivia Longueville is also a recommended author. Sharon Kay Penman, Ken Follett, Katharine Longshore, Diane Haeger, and Margaret George all have interesting and well-researched reads. I loved the Autobiography of Henry VIII by George. It reads fantastically.

I hope this helps! Enjoy your summer reading.

Margaret Was Born In Westminster Palace On November 28th, 1489, She Was The Second Child And First Daughter

Margaret was born in Westminster Palace on November 28th, 1489, she was the second child and first daughter of Henry VII and his queen Elizabeth of York. She was named in honor of her grandmother, Margaret Beaufort. Margaret was betrothed to James IV, King of Scots in 1502 when Margaret was 12, her mother and grandmother insisted that her marriage wait until she was older and so Margaret was married by proxy on 25 January 1503. Her younger brother Henry succeeded their father in 1509 and tensions between England and Scotland began to rise which came to a head with the battle of Flodden in 1513, where Margaret’s husband James would be killed in battle leaving Margaret a young widow and their young son James as king.

Margaret was made regent to her son, but Margaret would make an ill fated marriage with Archibald Douglas the earl of Angus which would make Margaret flee to England in 1515 where she gave birth to her daughter and only other surviving child, Margaret Douglas. Margaret returned to Scotland in 1517, she would marry for the third time in 1528 to Henry Stewart, Lord Methven. Margaret was never able to achieve peace between England and Scotland, her brother and her son James would never be true allies and the relationship between her two countries would remain tense.

Margaret died in 1541, her son would outlive her for only a year and Margaret’s granddaughter, Mary, become queen at only a week old. Margaret’s great grandson through both her son and daughter, James VI, would follow her nice Elizabeth as the next king of England in 1603, uniting the crowns of England and Scotland, Margaret is the ancestress of every British monarch since.

After half-an-hour the Duke came forth and was accompanied to the Queen’s Chamber, where were also the Princess Mary and many attendants. The Queen (Catherine Parr) danced first with her brother very gracefully; and then the Princess Mary, the Princess of Scotland (Margaret Douglas) danced with other gentlemen and many other ladies also danced. A Venetian of the King’s household danced some gallards with extraordinary agility. After dancing had lasted several hours the Queen returned to her chamber, first causing one of the noblemen who spoke Spanish to offer some presents to the Duke, who kissed her hand. He would have likewise kissed the Princess Mary’s hand, but she offered her lips; and so he saluted her and all the other ladies. The King is said to be a man of great authority and beauty. The Queen has a lively and pleasing appearance and is praised as a virtuous woman. Describes her dress and that of the Princess Mary, who has a pleasing countenance and person and who knows how to conceal her acquirements. She is adored throughout the kingdom.

Princess Mary, hoping for some action!

Going forward the writers don’t need to stray from history, only consolidate characters and events. The truth is already insane!

Things get so crazy!

They better include Catherine’s best frenemy Jeanne de Albert (Antoine’s wife) next season. Watching the two queens of sass and sarcasm try to take a bite out of each other will be glorious!

as much as i enjoyed "the serpent queen" i feel like the second part of the season was a bit... meh? i much preferred it when they kept much closer to the actual history, and while i understand the need for changes for plot clarity (charles V and henri II dying at francis' wedding instead of elizabeth of valois and philippe II of spain's wedding) i wish some parts had kept the actual facts? i think it would have been more interesting to have henri dying while wearing diane's colours, and then catherine doing everything so that diane never saw henri until he died. i also would have preferred it if they kept francois II's cause of death instead of giving him consumption (what is it going to be when charles IX actually dies from it? lol) and also the whole nonsense plot of mary stuart being made regent when she has zero (0) claim to that throne (and antoinette de guise saying 'respect the sanctity of rules' yeah that's what's being done by naming anyone but mary regent actually) like the show can't both be like "if catherine doesn't have children she'll be packed home" and at the same time, when mary is also childless, pretends she has a reasonable claim to the throne? mary was pawn for the de guise as long as she was married to françois, but once dead, she didn't serve them anymore (rightly so) and that's why she was sent back to scotland.

anyway i fucking loved the bourbons though
