I got a week off of work! But! I am now the dreaded sick. I've taken medicine and am slowly working on writing, so hopefully- inbetween updating fanfics and writing for my request still in my folder, I'll have a lot of things posted in the coming week.
I know its Thanksgiving for us Americans, but I honestly don't celebrate it(I just eat the food) plus my fam is hella small, so I don't have any holiday plans. So heres to hoping sh*t gets done! I, for some reason, get hella inspired when Im sick. Dont ask me why, I just do.
A lot of the time though when people hear or read the word critical, they view it as the negative. We need to change, in a social sense, what the word critical and critical analysis means.
To add to this and explain what I mean, I look at characters critically when I like them. I find their flaws and perfections and see how they intermingle to make a character I like. I examine how that characters past as influenced their present and how it may influence their future.
From a narrative standpoint, I pick apart what makes a piece of literature I like to find out more about it. I use those ELA classes I took in Middle/HS and I put them to use in everything I read. I try to understand the story for what it is and what it could be trying to say between the lines. I look for all the negative and the positive and I ask, "What, When, Why and How?"
All aspiring authors should try to do this, with professional and non-professional(free content, like Fanfics) to see how their favorite authors convey emotions, tell a scene, etc. The people around you, be they famous or not, can teach you so much- you just have to look for the golden nuggets of themselves they sprinkled into their works.
I think the people who say “You don’t need to be critical of every piece of media you consume” fundamentally misunderstand what we mean by “critical”.
When we say “be critical of the media you consume” we don’t mean “be negative” as in, find every flaw and pick it apart CinemaSins style.
We mean “examine it”. Like, look at what you are consuming, and in many cases, enjoying, and ask yourself why you are enjoying it. Ask yourself who made it. Ask yourself if you are the target audience. Ask yourself if you are being represented by the characters you see. Ask yourself if the author has biases or political leanings they are trying to include in the story.
Just, ask yourself questions. The answers don’t have to be negative. That’s not what being critical means.
Me and my alter personas, anytime i see piccolo fanart :
I LOVE drawing piccolo all tied up 😌😇
Hey guys, I'm in a funk currently. Stress with work, living situation and just general depression has left me creatively drained. I currently don't feel confident in my abilities to fill any requests. I'm gonna try to write to maybe see if my inspiration will come back to me- but I think this is one of those things I just have to wait for it to pass.
I'm the Temple!
guys I made an ‘if you were a deity, what would you be the god of?’ quiz! it’s somewhere between the greek gods and astrology and hopefully it’s fun and a little weird :))
I'm opening my request box for the following fandoms!
BG3: Astarion, Gale, Halsin mainly but others are welcome(I just got to moonrise towers in game but IDC Abt spoilers)
Transformers: Literally any and everyone. Not a single character is a no
Stardew Valley: Literally any of the adult characters
Skyrim: All of the adults
Fallout(3, NV, 4, TV): all of the adults
Some more specific backstory info before we get into my actual OC is her species. She is an Unseelie, which is a type of Dark Fae. Now Unseelie are beautiful, almost human-looking Fae and are incredibly tall. They have remarkable magical abilities but I also headcanon that they have a Beast form. These forms are normally in 5 categories, these categories are Aquatic(Fish, Eels, sharks, etc), Semi-Aquatic(Crocodiles, Snakes, etc), Avian(Birds, Bats, etc), Terrestrial(Deer, Wolves, Felines, etc) and lastly Insectoid(Spiders, Flys, Moths, etc). Their beast form can take on more than one animal/Insect from each category, but typically it is not more than 3 different categories they can take after. It is not by choice but by what their strongest personality traits are. That means the more evil or questionable personality traits are the more monstrous they will appear. While in their Beast form they can communicate telepathically with those they lock eyes with. Their skin tone while in Beast form can very from unnatural shades to natural shades, yet if they are a solid color it means they are inexperienced and are weaker then someone who has a more complex colorization.
Now my OC is a Halfling, meaning she is half-Human and half-Unseelie. Now with Halflings, they aren’t as powerful as their Fullblooded brethren. They can still use magic, however, they cannot use it in their beast form nor can they speak telepathically. There is nothing to allude to the fact they are Unseelie in their human form except for a small wedge of color in their eyes, which typically matches the color of their eyes in their beast form. They also tend to be smaller, staying the same height as they were when they were human in their beast form.
Now on to my girl.
Human Name, Given by the Father: Zenobia Barnett
Unseelie Name, Given by the Mother: Andorra
Age: 22 years old
Gender: Female
Human Appearance: Black hair in a pixie cut, round green eyes with a wedge of Violet in both eyes, big reading glasses, 5’2 with lightly tanned skin tone and a triangle formed out of birthmarks on her chest to the left of her heart, Curvy with a small bust and rear.
Fashion: Very relaxed and comfy, could be classified as a tomboy and vsco girl fusion. It’s all comfort and movability when it comes to clothes, being fashionable is not a priority to her.
Unseelie Beast Form: She has snow-white shin, her hair has turned to the sensory barbles like that on catfish and can move independently in reaction to the electro-magnetic fields living things produce(cautious and paranoid, she goes out of her way to be aware of everything that goes on around her). She has the hind legs and hands of a fox-like, however, they still appear partly human the regard to digit length(Mischivious, Playful, and able to lock onto a target- whether that be a living thing or a goal- and almost tirelessly pursue said target without faltering.). Her tail is that of the end of a snake, more accurately a boa constrictor as it is able to hold her up off the ground and curl around her prey(Deceitful, Creative, Opportunistic and Cunning, she will use all her energy to get to her end goal, even if that means she must step on others to do so.) Her teeth and the sounds she makes are similar to that of a Feline or Canine, with her ability to growl and howl but also produce small chirps and purring sounds(Independent, Loyal, Outwardly indifferent while inwardly compassionate, once she connects with someone they have made a life-long friend and she will protect them with her life, even if that contradicts her typical behavior.)
General Information: She was born in Rye, East Sussex, England however shortly after her birth, her mother abandoned her and her father. He had to move back to America to better raise his new daughter. He stopped traveling and became a professor at a college, where he taught about history and ran a club for the occult and mysticism. Zenobia Barnett was what she was named, her namesake was Queen Zenobia of Syria, simply because her father thought his daughter should be named after a not too well known Queen. Ironic, considering she is the secret love child of the Queen of a (now small) Unseelie clan which makes her a Princess. She, however, once she found out about her mother, she ran away. Understandable considering the Fullblooded aren’t exactly thrilled one of their Princesses is a Halfling and owns the rights to a small portion of the kingdom. She has been on the run from the assassins known as Revenants and hasn’t in contact with her father for some time.
Villain Name: Insomnia
Full Name: Natsumi Hitachiin
Color Scheme: Gold and Black
Hair: Long and black
Eyes: dull gold when inactive and when active a toxic, glowing yellow
Quirk: Umbrakinesis/Umbrageous Teleportation, Phobikinesis.
Age: 22
Height: 150 cm(5 ft)
Special(s): Eternal Night- A circle of shadows she sends put to hide herself and others in that only she can see in.
Paralysing Fear- a mist-like cloud that when breathed in can cause the victim to hallucinate their worst fear.
Personification- she can summon, no more than 1 at a time, a creature that represents an area of fear.(Terror, Horror, Anxiety and Fear)
Personality: Natsumi is everything we fear, and she thrives on sabid fear. She takes a cruel delight in Psychologically torturing people. But what Natsumi hates most is when people do not fear her, anything that could be considered brave infuriates her into an almost blind rage and sends her on a path of destruction. Being a master manipulator, Natsumi often preys on her victims psychologically. Her knowledge of people's worst fears allows her to unnerve her enemies and she enjoys watching them squirm, often leaving their fates to their imagination through thinly-veiled threats before finishing them off. As displayed multiple times, Natsumi has a perverse level of pleasure from playfully tormenting with his victims in an almost animal-like fashion. She takes a sadistic pleasure in playing with her victims, opting to keep the most fun ones prison so she can continue to find different ways to psychologically hurt them. However, despite these traits, she is Sympathetic. Abused by a villainous Father and crushed by her self doubt she easily falls into the path society and her Father deem right for her. She pushes those who get to close away from her cruelty, degrading them and hoping to change their love to hate. She secretly wants to be accepted and loved, but is afraid to reveal her own weakness in fear people will use them against her as she does to others.
