A cozy night at the camp š
(11/? part of āAstarion: In Search of True Selfā ā [masterpost here])
This is also less of an analysis and more of a personal impression during the final scene of facing Cazador. I know there is a tragedy of the vampire curse that played its role in his life, too. But now I only want to talk about what I felt and saw with my eyes, solely based on my experience in the game.
When I first saw Cazador, I was honestly dumbfounded. In my imagination, he had always been that archetypal vampire lord - dark, composed, powerful and cruel. But the reality was... underwhelming. He came across as a petty, narrow-minded man who took himself far too seriously. There was nothing truly majestic or formidable about him - he just happened to be stronger than those around him and used that power to indulge himself in the worst ways.
It was actually quite brilliant of the creators to portray him this way - to show how low and hollow someone who takes pleasure in torture really is. That cruelty is just ugly and there is nothing appealing about it, no matter how much you try to cover it with aesthetics or mystery.
And then there was Astarion, standing before him. The difference between them was night and day. Astarion was radiant - beautiful, dignified, strong. Even in that moment of uncertainty, of raw emotion, he shone. I think I could have fallen for him all over again right then and there.

I like Holly Blackās Ā«The Folk of the AirĀ» book series and there something Cardan once said to Jude that was carved into my memory, even though I couldnāt fully understand the meaning:
āBy you, I am forever undone.ā
But now, after getting to know Astarion, I think I am starting to understand.
Maybe itās kind of love that feels like a wave washed over everything inside you, leaving no place untouched, changing you the way youāll never be the same again. And how when you look at that person there is nothing about them that lefts you indifferent - every time you look at them you feel something in you falling apart, but in the best possible way.
I tried to repeat the same poses like in the last picture from my previous post but in a different setting - it didnāt work quite right but I still like it :3
Itās hard to imagine, right, Murphy? x)
Love how this one turned out šāØ
Sooo impartial ( ̄ā½ļæ£;)

Iāve finished Sergioās route recently and Iām just AAAAAAAAAAA which can be translated as āwhere I can get one?!?!ā
Dangerous information to share but Iām weak to āmi corazonā
I wonāt put any screenshots for the last chapters to avoid spoilers but it was freaking roller coaster.
Some weird moments aside /like āfutureā with that drink š/, I really enjoyed the route and the ending:
I fell for that guy the moment I saw him on the app, and almost havenāt touched the other stories yet (well, Iāve checked Road Trip to get more stars for Sergio⦠guilty) because it was exactly what I was looking for at that time.
Just look at this pure smile~
I was kinda surprised to see that many people in fandom didnāt like him much or were very suspicious /the dog was the most suspicious tho xD/ Maybe because theyāve started from Chavaās route š¤ I actually was a bit suspicious too, but I was sure that even if he was the killer there must have been some serious reason, so I decided to trust the guy and was rewarded with a very sweet good endingāØ
With all those mysteries, captivating atmosphere and heartbreaking and sweet moments with this lawyer⦠this story is definitely one of my favorites now <3
Btw this song fits their story pretty well, please check it out! ļ¼ļ¼¾āļ¼¾ļ¼
I try to sound all composed and sensible in my posts, but the truth is I just absolutely adore this man - itās all really just a long love letter (ą¹>ā”<ą¹)š
(3/? part of āAstarion: In Search of True Selfā ā [masterpost here])
Astarion is unexpectedly very honest. You can easily tell when the mask drops - when heās vulnerable, flustered or confused. He never really hides it from Tav, or at least doesnāt try too hard. Itās always close to the surface.
Even during the vampirism reveal, it felt like Astarion was being too clumsy, almost like he wanted to be caught to see how Tav would react. After that night, he never woke them up again when feeding anymore - don't you think thatās a little suspicious? This similar approach shows up again later in the mirror scene, but Iāll save that for another post.
Well, it is just a theory.Ā But this is part of why I canāt really blame him for trying to get what he needed and slip away. Another reason is that, for usually cautious Astarion, being so desperate most likely meant he reached a point where his blood craving became too unbearable. Maybe he hoped to blame it on some hypothetical vampire lurking nearby (after all, they did find that drained boar)⦠but he goes for Tav no matter if they've seen the boar or not.
What makes this moment so important is that it gives us the choice to let him drink freely, by our own will, just because he needs it. (It actually reminded me of giving Gale those artefacts to consume - and remember how touched and grateful he was for such trust?)
And of course, this is when the famous "This is a gift, you know" line appears, too. And the fact that he repeated exactly the same words again after such a life-turning event as defeating Cazador only shows just how much this moment meant for Astarion.
There are so many layers to this simple act of sharing your blood: The first time breaking Cazadorās rules. The first time tasting blood from a "thinking creature". The first time being accepted after revealing himself. And all of this with the one person heās slowly beginning to care about, for the first time.
What I loved is that this might be the moment Astarion saw something different in Tav. I think, at best, he just hoped they wouldn't cast him out. He even admits he wouldāve told them he was a vampire earlier if he'd known how open-minded they'd be. But instead, they said yes - without fear or disgust. Like it was nothing. But to him, it was everything.
I only discovered this cutscene on a replay, but I think it fits nicely here.
There's a moment not long after that night, where Astarion cheerfully invites Tav to speculate about how their companions' blood might taste - completely theoretically, of course. Personally, I don't mind that kind of talk and even enjoy such thought experiments, but I know it's not everyone's cup of tea.
What's interesting is that Astarion supports any answer you give - unless you shut the conversation down entirely. To me, that says he's just excited to finally have someone to talk with, someone who doesn't judge and maybe even shares his curiosity. Isn't that something we all crave in our own way? I can't help but find it cute!
Same with the scene where he celebrates the bear victory - he rushes to share it with Tav, fully trusting that he can express himself without facing mockery or disgust.
They've got their own little blood club now :]

Just some stuff about games and anime. Because "otome game", yeah. Maybe some doodles sometimes. Currently obsessed with BG3 and Astarion.
