so finished reading Margaret Rogerson's "Sorcery of Thorns" and I need to get them out. First off I enjoyed this book the main character Elisabeth was interesting and her growth was fun to watch, the love interest Nathaniel was a smart-ass and that was just really funny to me but the blurb (??is that how you spell the summary of the back idk but that thing) called him her "sworn enemy" which was just ?no? she was confused and wary towards him due to preconceived ideas about sorcery but he was hardly an enemy in her mind so bit misleading, there were a lot of moments of humour (mostly from Nathaniel by being a smart-ass but other characters definitely also contributed as well)
Overall, a fun read and would recommend to others
(two sections that I made me giggle)
There’s always another way
Despite everything, the stars are still shining for you to see them
It doesn’t/wont matter/pos
Things are meant to be used
If something doesn’t give you joy, you might not need it
Work smarter, not harder
Some days, the bare minimum is the best you can do, and it’s ok
You can’t control forgiveness.
Journalism, breathing in with the nose-exhaling with the mouth, works, actually.
he's very excited about his first night as a jack o lantern
this will sound really impossible, but in face of adversity, i beg all of you to do the most revolutionary act possible. this act is the base for the entire human history, which would never have happened if not for this. yes i am not joking yes i am not exageratting and yes i am being unironic.
said action is to live.
not just survive not just prevail. you need to live. because if you don't do that, then you will not be able to do anything else. and people who want you dead can tolerate you surviving but they will not tolerate you living. so please, live. and punch a nazi, and take care of each other, and protect each other. and live a whole lot.
I love MDZS bc I went into it for an angsty gay romance—which I got—but I was wholly unprepared for these books to have the vibes of an unhinged necromantic episode of the Magic School Bus. Just a demonic gay freak and his bf enthusiastically chaperoning a bunch of kids who are way out of their depth on a field trip to hunt ghosts and walking corpses, shoving them headfirst into insane nightmare-fuel as a learning experience. It’s fantastic idk why this isn’t the main selling point for the series
Sun & Moon Tangled AU idea with Lillie as Rapunzel. Gladion still ran away but now Lusamine (Mother Gothel here) has told her he's dead (he fled her "love" and as far as she's concerned he is dead to her) so imagine her surprise when after demanding the people who broke into her tower (Selene, Elio and Hau) take her to the lanterns she finds him not only alive but friends with these people (against his will he will tell her but the friends in question disagree). They get up to the usual amount of Pokemon/Tangled nonsense (Snuggly Ducklng musical number with Team Skull, Kingdom dance and foster fighting a God probably).
we all got really lucky that alexander fleming wasn’t allergic to penicillin huh
