most important part of the writing process actually is when you loop a single song on max volume and stare at the word document and imagine the characters doing things for 14 hours. this is known as getting in the zone
Hooray! I've posted a new YouTube video, and you can find it by following the Linktree in my bio to my YouTube channel, or by looking for Jazzleeillustrates on YouTube! In this video, I'll be designing a set of four party animal themed stickers, and also talking about my process of making and selling stickers. ππ
I am, unfortunately, not immune to the power of reformed baddies in TV! What about you -- do you love this trope as much as I do? π Thanks for reading the 35th episode of Slices of Gremlin, my weekly webcomic! It currently releases every Tuesday here, on Webtoon, and on Tumblr! Please consider supporting me and the comic if you like what you see, and check out my Ko-Fi -- there's a link in my bio!
nothinggg better than torturing an emotionally repressed character until every single trauma they've ever refused to process starts spilling uncontrollably out of the cracks. like a matryoshka doll situation of repressed trauma and baby you better believe i'm going in there with a hammer
Sometimes you think you know them and sometimes when you're writing, they'll totally blindside you.
[about my own oc, who i created] in theory its possible she would say that, but we just dont know for sure
I made these four mini paintings as Christmas gifts for friends and family! The canvases have magnets on the back. I really enjoyed painting all of these. Which one is your favorite? π
I love these guys!!
Today is the 7 year anniversary for my webcomic "The Pirate Checklist"!
Comic's still on break for now, but some plans are in the works!
What are your three favorite things about Vincent and Witherspoon as individual characters? There are lots of things I love about them, but I want to hear from you as the creator!
Awww, thank you so much for the ask, that's so kind of you girl!! C: That's a really nice question, and I really appreciate being able to ramble a bit ehehe!!
For Vincent, I would say, A) as someone who has grown up Southern, it meant a lot to me to create a Southern character who was portrayed in a positive light. He's unabashedly Southern but he's not a stereotype of it, if that makes any sense. He IS a bit silly, but he's also very intelligent and capable! It feels very comforting to me to have a character with a Southern drawl.
B), Vincent is genuinely kind. He really and truly wants the best for everyone around him, even if they call themselves his enemy, and it's zero to none for him to actually hold a grudge against anyone. He's not perfect, and has his own flaws, but he hasn't let the often very cynical nature of the world affect him to the point of allowing him to grow bitter, even though he's had a lot of chances for this to happen.
He's truly a safe person to be around.
C), I can't really go into it too much because it's spoiler-y in nature, but in-story he is associated heavily with trippy dream settings where reality is altered in uneasy ways, where liminal spaces and crazy aesthetics come into play. This is one thing that I'm REALLY looking forward to showing visually! It'll get very weird!
For Witherspoon, A) It's a bit simple, but it genuinely makes me happy that he is based on Bluejays. :) They are my favorite bird, and honestly it just makes me happy to see them.
B), Witherspoon is someone who thinks that he is a very bad person, and he instinctively wonders quite often why anyone would want to be around him. He's a loner by nature, but this added causes him to isolate himself and sometimes even hate himself. Little does he know, though, he is SO loved, and he is loved for exactly who he's always been. He's the most loved person in the whole story, and he has always deserved to be loved.
C), It may be a bit silly, but despite the fact that he is a vigilante/hitman in profession, I also imagine him as a very safe presence. He truly tries his best to make the right judgment calls, and he is honest to his core. Witherspoon would be very hard-pressed to ever lie or show dishonesty about anything, even to his own detriment -- (which happens). Even if he's dealing with those he doesn't like/trust, he absolutely refuses to cheat anyone. If he has sworn an oath to you, he'll never break it.
I made this cute little Christmas graphic for an art collaboration on Instagram, where Christian artists are drawing themselves caroling! Is anyone feeling Christmas-sy yet? π
