pau cubarsí wasn’t the most openly affectionate person in public, but with you, things were different. it had started so naturally that neither of you really noticed at first, whenever you walked together, whether through the streets of barcelona or into the camp nou before a match, your hand would find its place gently wrapped around his bicep. not clinging, not pulling, just holding.
at first, he thought nothing of it. maybe you just liked the feeling, or maybe it was instinct. but over time, he started to realise, whenever you were nervous, when crowds got too loud, when the world felt a little too fast, you’d do it without thinking. and every single time, he felt the way your body eased beside him, like just that small connection was enough to ground you.
the team noticed too.
‘she does that a lot, huh?’ fermín lópez mused one day as they walked into the stadium, nodding toward your hand resting securely against pau’s arm.
pau glanced down at you, completely unaware of the conversation happening about you, just focused on whatever thought had settled in your head, and then back up at fermín.
‘yeah. she does.’ ronald araújo smirked. ‘you don’t seem to mind.’
he didn’t. if anything, it made something warm settle in his chest. he never brought it up, never teased you about it, never asked you why, he just let you do it, let you hold onto him when you needed to, and in return, he made sure you never had a reason to let go.
and the others noticed that too. the way his hand would naturally drift to your lower back when walking through crowds. how he subtly adjusted his pace to match yours. the way his expression softened when he looked down at you, as if the rest of the world didn’t exist for that moment.
‘he’s whipped,’ ferran torres whispered to gavi during training one day.
‘no, he’s just in love,’ gavi muttered back, watching as pau instinctively leaned down when you spoke to him, giving you his full attention.
and maybe that was it. maybe it was love. maybe it was something else entirely. but whatever it was, pau knew one thing, whenever you reached for him, he’d always be there.

gavi had always loved the beach, the salty breeze, the sound of waves crashing, the warmth of the sun on his skin. but today, it wasn’t just the ocean drawing his attention; it was the sight of your son sprinting across the sand, his tiny feet kicking up clouds of grains as he chased after a colorful kite.
'papá, look!' your son called, holding up the string as the kite wobbled in the sky.
gavi grinned, jogging over to help. 'hold it steady, campeón. like this.' he crouched down, guiding his son’s small hands. together, they managed to get the kite soaring higher, both of them laughing when the wind tugged it wildly.
you watched from a beach towel, sunglasses perched on your nose and a smile tugging at your lips. seeing gavi like this, barefoot in the sand, hair tousled, eyes crinkled with joy, was something you’d never get tired of. he looked up and caught your gaze, flashing you that grin that always made your heart flip.
'hey!' he called. 'you coming or just gonna admire me from there?'
'bit of both,' you shot back with a smirk, standing to shake off the sand before joining them.
after a while, your son abandoned the kite in favor of the ocean. gavi chased after him, scooping him up just before a wave could crash into his legs. 'too fast for me, huh?' he teased, spinning him around as your son squealed with delight.
'papá, again! again!'
'third time’s the charm,' gavi grinned, twirling him once more before gently setting him down. your son ran back toward the water, kicking at the incoming waves, tiny giggles echoing over the beach.
'he’s got your energy,' you commented, slipping an arm around gavi’s waist.
'yeah, but i don’t remember being that fast at his age,' gavi chuckled, pressing a kiss to your hairline.
after splashing around until your son’s shorts were soaked and his curls clung to his forehead, you coaxed him back to the sand with the promise of snacks. he plopped down on the towel beside you, cheeks flushed and eyes bright. 'best day ever,' he declared between bites of his sandwich.
gavi ruffled his hair. 'glad you’re having fun, campeón.'
after eating, the three of you set out to build a sandcastle. your son insisted it had to have "four towers and a moat," which turned into an ambitious (and messy) endeavor. gavi got way too competitive, carefully smoothing out the castle walls, tongue poking out in concentration.
'you do know it’s just for fun, right?' you teased.
'hey, if we’re building a castle, we’re making it the best one on this beach,' gavi shot back, flicking a bit of sand at you playfully.
your son cackled. 'get mamá!'
gavi grinned devilishly. 'you heard him.' before you could protest, both of them teamed up, tossing handfuls of sand (mostly missing but making you laugh until your sides hurt).
when everyone was sufficiently sandy and the "biggest castle ever" stood proudly (if a little crooked), you lay back on the towel, sighing contentedly. gavi dropped beside you, pulling your son into the space between you both.
'tired yet?' gavi asked, brushing hair from your son’s forehead.
'nooo,' he mumbled, though his eyes betrayed him, drooping with exhaustion.
'liar,' you chuckled.
as the sun began to sink lower, painting the sky in hues of gold and pink, your son fell asleep nestled against gavi’s chest, tiny fingers still clutching a stray seashell. gavi’s hand traced slow circles on his back, eyes soft.
'he’ll sleep all the way home,' you murmured.
'good. means we can blast music without him demanding his cartoons,' gavi joked, but his voice was gentle, gaze fixed on your son’s peaceful face.
you rested your head on gavi’s shoulder, your hand finding his. 'days like this...' you sighed. 'they’re the best.'
'yeah,' gavi agreed, squeezing your hand. 'nothing better.'
as the waves rolled in and the sky deepened into twilight, the three of you stayed there a little longer, sun-kissed, sand-covered, hearts full.

Balde fic where hes normally super smooth and confident but the reader has him all nervous and stuttering for the first time ever and his friends are teasing him for it 👀
・❥・prompt list
・❥・masterlist -> part 2
・❥・who I write for
・❥・a/n: I LOVED writing this so much!!
Balde was known for his charm and confidence between his teammates, especially when it comes to the topic of girls. However, when he met y/n, it was as if all his confidence vanished in seconds.
y/n was the best friend of Berta, Fermin’s girlfriend, and while she and Alejandro only exchanged a few polite words at one of the matches she had attended with Berta, something about her lingered in his mind.
Maybe it was her beauty, or kindness, maybe even confidence. He couldn’t exactly point out what it was, but ever since their first encounter, Alejandro found himself bringing her up to conversations more than he would like to admit.
And of course, his friends noticed.
“I swear she’s all you ever talk about,” Gavi once said, as the group of them were sitting at Pedri’s apartment, enjoying a chill evening.
“That’s not true,” Alejandro scoffed, knowing damn well he was lying.
“Yes you do” Lamine joined him, smirking as he gave Pedri a wink. “Last week you asked Fermin if she was single four times. In one conversation,”
Alejandro groaned before speaking again. “I didn’t–”
“You did,” Fermin interrupted with a smile. “Don’t worry though. It’s cute to see ‘Mr smooth with the ladies’ being shy about his crush”
“Leave him alone,” Pedri added with a teasing smile.
“It’s fun watching him malfunction for once,” Ansu said, making the others laugh.
“I’m not malfunctioning! You guys are annoying” Alejandro shot back, glaring at his friends
“All I’m saying is that if she’s going to be at the barbeque, we’re gonna need some popcorn for the show,” Gavi said, leaning back on the couch with a smirk.
“Please y/n. Fermin’s friends are pure chaos, and I need you to be here with me. Plus Balde is gonna be here” Berta’s teasing voice said through the phone , making y/n roll her eyes.
“I’ll come, but only because I know you can’t handle any set ups on your own” she said, making Berta hum in sarcasm
“Mhm sure” she teased making y/n chuckle
“Shut up. I have to go now” y/n said before hanging up.
“Hey guys?” Fermin said, approaching his group of friends. “Berta said that y/n is gonna be with us at the barbeque”
Gavi let out a whistle as Pedri laughed, watching how Alejandro nearly dropped his bottle, the plastic container slipping from his hands and spilling on his shorts.
“Joder” Balde mumbled, furiously patting the wet spot on his shorts (fuck)
“Oh man he’s already losing it” Lamine burst into laughter
“Relax, Romeo,” Ansu said, smirking. “You’re gonna be fine, just don't faint when she talks to you”
“I hate you all” Alejandro said, throwing his water bottle away and going to the other part of the team, the ones who didn't know about his secret crush
By the time the boys arrived at Fermin's house, Berta and y/n had already set up everything in the backyard. Balde spotted her from the door, watching how she laughed at something Berta had said.
“She’s right there” Pedri whispered in his ear, nudging his shoulder
“I have eyes” He hissed, making Gavi chuckle from behind them.
“So go say hi to her,” Lamine urged, grinning like a kid who's just been given candy
“yeah let's see that famous Balde charm you've been bragging about in action”Ansu teased, making the group laugh once again
“I haven't been bragging–”
“Oh please,” Pedri interrupted, “I've lost count of the times you've said ‘i don't get nervous around girls’,”
Alejandro groaned, shoving his sweaty hands in his pockets
“can you guys just…stop?”
“Oh not a chance,” Fermin grinned. “you’re gonna go talk to her”
“I’m not doing it right now,” He shook his head, making Gavi snicker from behind.
“This is gonna be an interesting night,” Gavi said, rubbing his hands against each other as if getting ready for some action.
Throughout the evening, Alejandro tried his best to act normal, but it was impossible with her being so close to him.
She seemed to float through the party in her sundress so effortlessly, helping Berta out with last-minute details and chatting with everyone.
Everytime she looked his way, his heart rate skyrocketed, and he looked away immediately.
“you've been awfully quiet tonight,” y/n said with a curious smile, walking up to him as he stood awkwardly by the grill
“I'm fine!,”he said way too quickly, his voice cracking slightly
She raised an eyebrow, her amusement evident.
“you sure about that?”
Before he could respond, Lamine appeared beside him, grinning from ear to ear
“He's fine. just distracted by a very specific person”
Alejandro groaned, running a hand over his face.
“Lamine stop,”
“What?” Lamine grinned, “I’m just trying to help you”
“By embarrassing me?” Alejandro muttered under his breath
y/n tilted her head, clearly entertained by the exchange, “you guys are fun” she said with a soft laugh.
“Fun is one word for it” He said, shooting a glare at Lamine as he walked away, chuckling.
And as the night went on, the teasing only got worse.
“He hasn’t tripped over his feet yet,” Pedri said, watching as Alejandro nervously handed her a plate of food before starting to make his way to them
“Give it time,” Ansu added, barely holding back a laugh.
“He’s definitely going to mess up soon,” Lamine chimed in, grinning.
“Can you all stop?” Alejandro hissed, his ears burning red.
From across the yard, Berta caught y/n's eye and gave her a knowing look. She blushed slightly, biting her lip.
Berta leaned closer and whispered something to Fermin, who burst into laughter.
“She knows,” Fermin said, nudging Alejandro. “You’re doomed, bro.”
“shit”
As the night started to wind down, y/n found Alejandro leaning against the fence, staring out at the backyard with a faraway look in his eyes.
“Hey” she said softly, walking up to him.
He jumped slightly, turning to face her with wide eyes. “oh, uh, hi”
“So you're gonna tell me what got you in the mood tonight?” she teased, a small smile playing on her lips.
“yeah…uh just tired, I guess” he said, scratching the back of his neck.
She laughed softly, before speaking again. “you're a terrible liar”
He let out a nervous chuckle, shrugging. “maybe”
“Well,” she said, stepping closer to him. “we should hang out soon. you know, just us”
Alejandro blinked, clearly caught off guard. “really?” he started, watching how she raised her eyebrows in amusement.
“I mean…yeah that'd be great. I'd like that”
She smiled at his shy state, leaning up to kiss his cheek.
“Good night Ale”
Before he could recover, she turned and walked away, leaving him frozen in place.
From across the yard, Gavi let out a loud whistle. “She made the move, and he’s still standing there like a statue!”
“He’s broken,” Pedri added, doubling over with laughter.
“I think she likes you, mate,” Fermin teased.
Alejandro groaned, burying his face in his hands. But even with all the teasing, he couldn’t stop smiling.

MASTERLIST
It had been a week since your first date with Joao, and yet, you still weren’t over it.
You and Lila were sprawled across your bed, a bowl of popcorn between you as music played softly in the background. Lila was lying on her stomach, scrolling through her phone, while you stared at the ceiling, reliving every little moment from that night.
"So, let’s recap," Lila said, tossing a piece of popcorn in the air and catching it in her mouth. "You guys went to that cute little Italian place, talked for hours, he walked you home, and then—"
You groaned, covering your face with a pillow. "Lila—"
She grinned. "And then he kissed you on your doorstep like something straight out of a rom-com!"
Your face heated up. "Okay, yes, fine. He kissed me."
Lila sighed dramatically. "Ugh. It’s like a football fairytale. Do you think I should start writing wedding speeches now, or—"
You threw a pillow at her. "Shut up."
She cackled, but before she could continue, your phone buzzed on the nightstand. You reached for it lazily, not thinking much of it—until you saw the name on the screen.
Joao.
Your heart did a little flip. He hadn’t called you out of the blue before.
Lila immediately noticed your expression. "What? Who is it?"
You swallowed, turning the phone toward her.
Her eyes widened. "Oh, my God. Answer it! What are you waiting for?!"
You took a deep breath, then picked up. "Hey, Joao."
There was a pause. Then, finally, his voice—soft, hesitant. "Hey."
Something was wrong.
You sat up, suddenly alert. "What’s going on?"
Another pause. Then—
"I’m leaving England."
The words hit you like a punch to the stomach. "What?"
Joao exhaled. "I just got the call. I’m going on loan to AC Milan. I leave tonight."
Your heart dropped. "Tonight?"
"I wanted to tell you sooner, but everything happened so fast," he said, his voice tinged with regret. "I don’t want to leave without saying goodbye. Can you come to the airport?"
You felt like you couldn’t breathe. Joao was leaving. Just like that.
Lila sat up beside you, watching your expression shift from confusion to sadness. She didn’t know what was happening yet, but she could tell something was wrong.
You swallowed hard, gripping the phone tighter. "Yeah," you said, voice barely above a whisper. "I’ll be there."
Joao let out a small breath, like he was relieved. "Okay. I’ll see you soon."
When you hung up, Lila grabbed your shoulders. "What happened? What’s wrong?"
You blinked, trying to process it all. "Joao’s leaving. He’s going on loan to Milan. Tonight."
Lila’s mouth fell open. "What the hell?!"
"He wants me to come to the airport so we can say goodbye."
Lila was already jumping off the bed. "Then what are we waiting for? Let’s go!"
The drive to the airport was a blur. You stared out the window, trying to keep yourself together, but the lump in your throat was growing by the second.
"He’s going to come back, you know," Lila said, glancing at you. "It’s just a loan. He’s not leaving forever."
You nodded, but it didn’t make it hurt any less.
By the time you arrived, the departures terminal was busy with travelers rushing around, but you only had eyes for one person.
And then—you saw him.
Joao stood near the check-in area, hoodie pulled over his head, hands tucked into his pockets. But when he saw you, his whole face softened.
You barely took two steps before he was in front of you, looking down at you with those warm, familiar brown eyes.
"Hey," he said softly.
You swallowed. "Hey."
His gaze flickered over your face, like he was trying to memorize every detail. "I didn’t want to leave without seeing you."
You nodded, trying to smile, but your throat was tight. "I’m really gonna miss you, Joao."
His brows furrowed, and then suddenly, his hand was cupping your cheek, his thumb brushing gently against your skin. "Don’t cry," he murmured. "I’ll come back."
You let out a shaky breath. "You promise?"
His lips quirked up in the smallest, saddest smile. "I promise."
And then—he kissed you.
Soft, warm, lingering. Like he wanted to stay in this moment forever. Like he didn’t want to leave at all.
Lila, standing a few feet away, practically squealed under her breath. "Oh my God."
But just as you melted into the kiss, something inside you snapped.
You suddenly pulled back, heart racing.
Joao blinked in confusion. "What’s wrong?"
You didn’t even think before you said it. "I’m going with you."
Joao’s eyes widened. "What?"
"You can’t," he stammered, looking completely overwhelmed. "You have a life here—"
"Yes, she can," Lila interrupted, stepping forward with a wicked grin. "I’ll pack your stuff and send it to you. Go."
You turned to her, heart pounding. "Are you sure?"
Lila rolled her eyes. "Babe. The love of your life is about to get on a plane. Go."
Tears welled in your eyes, but this time, they weren’t from sadness. You threw your arms around Lila, hugging her tightly. "I love you so much."
She laughed. "I know. Now get out of here before I start crying too."
You turned back to Joao, who was still staring at you like he couldn’t believe this was real.
"You really want to come with me?" he asked, voice soft, uncertain.
You smiled, taking his hand in yours. "There’s nowhere else I’d rather be."
For a moment, he just looked at you, his lips parting like he wanted to say something. But then, instead of speaking—he kissed you again.
And this time, it wasn’t a goodbye.
MAMA MIA DIOS MIOS MADRE MIA 😍
Hey love!
I was wondering if you could write something for Max Verstappen with a super soft, quiet little girlfriend? She’s a chunky little thing, all round and cute, with blonde hair, and she’s just very… pink. Everything about her is soft and feminine—her clothes, her nails, even the way she speaks. She’s also a little dumb (in the most adorable way possible), always getting confused about things, and Max just finds it endearing. Maybe some fluff where he’s super protective over her because people underestimate her a lot? Thank you so much!

・❥・who I write for
・❥・a/n: this HAS to be my fav fic EVER. I love max sm yall don't understand. pls don't let it flop 🙏🏻🙏🏻
She was the total opposite of Max. Opposites attract, they say. Max, the serious, sarcastic Formula One champion, dating her; the short, blonde girl whose whole life was pink and ribbons.
But Max found everything about her so endearing.
The way she got confused over the smallest things, the random questions she asked out of nowhere, and mostly, the way she managed to be the most adorable person when he asked her to go to her first Grand Prix with him: to Japan.
“Well, everything is pink, and it’s all flowers and stuff there. I think you'll like it,” he said softly, his smile unwavering when she jumped up and down before climbing on him.
“Oh my god, yes! I have the perfect outfit for race day. Should I do my nails too? When are we going? Do I have time to pack?” she rambled, unable to hide her excitement, and also nervousness.
Max chuckled, putting his finger on her lips to stop her from talking.
“Don’t worry, schatje. I already booked your nail appointment. We’re leaving Tuesday morning, so you have plenty of time to pack,” he mumbled before brushing his lips over hers.
Max took his headphones off as his engineer finished telling him the new updates on the car. His eyes scanned the garage slowly until they found her.
She stood by the corner, carefully reading the schedule on the paper that was on the wall. The pink ribbon sat perfectly in her blonde hair, while her hands clutched her small bag tightly.
He smiled softly before quietly making his way to her. He sneaked his hands around her waist gently, which made her flinch for a second before relaxing in his arms.
“Maxie,” she mumbled, her eyes still fixed on the paper, her head tilting in confusion.
“Hey, baby,” his fingers brushed against her pink dress as he pressed a kiss to the top of her head.
“I’m confused,” she stated, turning to look up at him. “The schedule says you have media duty from ten till twelve. It’s eleven-thirty now. Are you breaking the rules?” she gasped softly, her voice lowering as if afraid someone might hear her.
Max chuckled, his heart melting at the pure confusion in her expression.
“No, darling. I finished early and had some stuff with the engineers,” he said, making her lips part as realization dawned on her.
“Let’s get you seated in the garage before qualifying,” he gently tugged her hand as he took her to the back of the garage where families and guests usually sat. He helped her up on the stool before handing her one of the big blue headphones.
“For me?” she asked, confused, making him hum.
“It can get loud, so you’ll need it,” he placed it on her neck before brushing her hair away from her face to admire her soft makeup that she always did—the one he always adored.
“But it doesn’t match my outfit,” she frowned, making him laugh with a shake of his head.
“Sweetheart, the sounds are pretty loud. You need it,” he insisted, making her frown deepen even more. He smiled before leaning down to kiss her pout away.
As soon as his lips touched hers, she quickly gasped and pulled away.
“Someone could see us,” she whispered, making him pout.
“Just one?” he asked, leaning in again. He kissed her softly, and she couldn't help but kiss him back.
When he pulled back, he hummed in satisfaction. She opened her eyes and giggled at the sight of him.
“What?” he asked, an amused smile on his lips.
“You’ve got some lip gloss on your lips,” she murmured, reaching over to wipe it off with her thumb.
“Do I look pretty?” he teased while she hummed.
“You always look pretty,” she whispered shyly, making him smile.
“Only because I have you by my side.”
“Hey, where's my girlfriend?” Max asked one of the mechanics, who he saw a while ago talking to her.
“They told her to go to your driver's room after quali. She was asking way too many questions,” he chuckled, expecting Max to laugh with him, except he didn’t. Max scoffed and crossed his arms over his chest.
“Yeah? So what? This is her first race and she's still new to everything here,” he said defensively, eyes narrowing as the mechanic started squirming nervously under his intense gaze.
“I-I didn’t mean-” Max interrupted by rolling his eyes.
“Whatever,” he mumbled, already walking away to his room.
He opened the door gently, peeking his head into the room slowly. He saw her sitting there, his plushie, which she had bought him, tucked under her chin while she scrolled through her phone silently.
“Hey baby,” he said softly, afraid to scare her away.
“Hi Maxie,” she mumbled, her voice a bit down and softer than usual, the usual bubbly and excited tone not evident.
His face twisted in anger, knowing that she was upset by something someone had told her.
“What did they say?” he asked calmly, but his fists clenched by his sides as he walked closer to her.
“Mhm, who?” she avoided looking into his eyes, still scrolling on her phone.
Max took the phone gently out of her hand to have her look at him. Her eyes were dull, the usual light in them faded out.
“What did they say?” he asked again, this time more gently.
“Nothing… they just said that I should come here because they can’t stand someone asking so many stupid questions,” she shrugged, but her teary eyes showed how much she was affected.
“Oh darling,” he murmured, pulling her into a hug as he sat next to her. He tucked her head under his chin, securing it by holding the back of her head. His other hand soothed her back, mumbling sweet nothings into her ear to help her calm down.
After a while, her body relaxed more and she let out a sigh into his neck.
“I’m sorry,” she mumbled, her arms tightening around his torso.
“Don’t be, schatje. They’re assholes who don’t deserve to listen to anything you say. If you have anything to ask, I’ll gladly answer you, even if it was the silliest question,” he said, pulling her head back to look at her.
“I love you,” he held her gaze, his fingers threading through her blonde strands as he spoke.
“I love you more, Maxie,” she said, her smile finally finding its way back to her face.
He held her more in his arms, watching some TikToks with her on her phone, ignoring the fact that he had already skipped two interviews.
She pulled away then, making him look at her, confused.
“So... what does DRS mean?” she asked sheepishly, making him chuckle.
“I’ll tell you everything. Just let me hold you some more, sweetheart.”

‘are you sure this place isn’t haunted?' you asked, eyeing the flickering carnival sign overhead.
'only one way to find out,' joão grinned, pulling you forward. the fairgrounds were technically closed, but a gate left half open practically invited mischief. and you, against better judgment, followed him in.
'if a clown jumps out, i’m drop kicking it,' you muttered.
'noted,' he laughed, leading you past rusted rides and empty food stalls. the air smelled faintly of popcorn and nostalgia, tinged with just enough creepiness to keep you on edge.
then you saw it: an old fortune-telling booth with faded gold lettering; madame lulu sees all.
'nope,' you said immediately.
'oh, yes,’ joão countered, already slipping inside. 'come on, where’s your sense of adventure?'
'buried under common sense,' you grumbled but followed anyway.
inside, it was dark, save for a single flickering bulb overhead. a mechanical fortune teller doll stared blankly from behind the glass. joão inserted a coin, and the machine whirred to life, spitting out a card.
he read it aloud: 'seek what’s lost, find what’s true. beneath the dragon’s gaze, waits a clue.’
you stared. '...is this a scavenger hunt?'
'looks like it,' he beamed. 'let’s go!'
'joão..’
but he was already out the door, dragging you along. beneath the dragon’s gaze turned out to be an old carousel with a dragon-shaped ride. underneath it? a tiny tin box with another clue.
'who set this up?’ you whispered.
'ghosts with a sense of humor,' he shrugged.
the hunt led you across the fairgrounds, through funhouse mirrors that distorted joão’s grin into something terrifying (‘nightmare fuel,’ you’d said, laughing), past a cotton candy stand where he tried to steal an old, hardened puff ('that’s a fossil, not food’), and finally, to the ferris wheel.
'this has final boss vibes,' you said, eyeing the rusted structure.
'only one way up,' he smirked. 'race you.'
'you cheat..’ but he was already climbing into a cart, pulling you in after him.
at the top, the city stretched out beneath you, lights twinkling in the distance. joão pulled out the final clue card, reading it quietly. 'sometimes, what you seek isn’t hidden; it’s been beside you all along.’
'corny,' you teased, though your heart did a weird little flip.
he looked at you, smile softer now. 'yeah... but kind of true.'
you glanced away, the view suddenly not as distracting as the warmth of his gaze. 'so, what was the treasure?'
'guess we found it,' he murmured.
and maybe you had. maybe it was the laughter, the chase, the stolen glances. or maybe, just maybe, it was him.
'next time,' you said, breaking the moment with a grin, 'we’re doing something less dramatic.'
'no promises,' he winked.

gavi hated this.
hated watching your matches through a screen. hated missing the moments that mattered. hated that you were miles away while he was stuck in barcelona, playing game after game without you in the stands.
he had tried to act normal. tried to focus on training, on his own matches, but it was impossible when his mind kept drifting back to you.
you were playing one of the biggest tournaments of your career, and he wasn’t there. instead, he was sitting in the team bus, watching the live stream on his phone with his airpods in, barely listening as his teammates talked around him.
pedri nudged him. ‘what’s the score?’
‘she won the first set. second set’s tied.’ gavi’s voice was tight, his grip on his phone firm.
his heart was racing. he could see the way you moved, the way you fought for every point. he knew that look on your face, the one that meant you weren’t giving up.
when the bus arrived at the hotel, gavi didn’t move. he just sat there, eyes locked on his screen.
ferran laughed. ‘bro, are you coming?’
‘go without me,’ gavi muttered, waving them off.
pedri sighed but didn’t argue. ‘don’t stay up all night, man. you have a game tomorrow.’
gavi didn’t even acknowledge him. he was too busy watching you chase down a drop shot, too busy whispering curses under his breath when you missed, too busy fist pumping when you won the next point.
then came match point.
he held his breath.
you tossed the ball into the air, racket swinging effortlessly, the sharp sound of the ball meeting strings filling the speakers. your opponent barely got a return in before you sent a forehand straight down the line, untouched.
game, set, match.
gavi exhaled loudly, running a hand through his hair as he watched you drop your racket, hands flying to your face in disbelief before pure joy took over. the crowd erupted, commentators shouting excitedly, but all gavi could focus on was you.
he needed to call you. now.
he stepped off the bus, walking toward the hotel entrance as he pulled up your contact. it barely rang twice before you picked up, breathless.
‘pablo!’
he grinned. ‘felicidades, mi amor. joder, you were incredible.’
you let out a shaky laugh, still overwhelmed. ‘you watched?’
‘of course i watched,’ he scoffed. ‘you think i’d miss that?’
‘you have a game tomorrow.’
‘i don’t care. i needed to see you win.’
there was a pause, your breathing still heavy from the match.
‘i wish you were here.’
his chest tightened. ‘me too.’
and he meant it. more than anything.
you sighed softly. ‘i’m flying back in two days.’
‘two days is too long.’
‘pablo.’
‘what if i come to you instead?’
you groaned. ‘you have training. a match. be serious.’
‘no quiero ser serio,’ he muttered. ‘quiero verte.’
you laughed, tired but full of love. ‘dos días, amor. i’ll be home soon.’
he sighed, kicking at the ground. ‘fine. but the second you land, i’m kidnapping you.’
‘deal.’
he smiled, finally making his way inside. two days. he just had to survive two more days.
gavi had never been this impatient in his life.
he was at the airport two hours early, pacing near the arrivals gate like a madman. pedri had made fun of him for it, called him dramatic, told him to just wait at home like a normal person, but gavi didn’t care. he had waited long enough.
his arms were crossed, jaw tight, sneakers tapping anxiously against the polished floor as he checked the flight tracker for what had to be the hundredth time. landed. you were here. finally.
his heart was pounding, fingers tapping against his thigh as he watched passengers filter through the doors. every time someone who vaguely resembled you walked out, he straightened up, only to sigh when it wasn’t you.
then he saw you.
hair slightly messy from the flight, suitcase dragging behind you, eyes scanning the crowd. and the second your gaze landed on him, everything else disappeared.
he didn’t think. he just moved.
one second, he was standing still. the next, he was pushing through people, reaching for you, grabbing your face and kissing you like he was scared you’d disappear again.
you barely had time to react before you melted into him, hands gripping his hoodie as he held you close, like he needed to feel every inch of you to believe you were really here.
when he finally pulled back, you were breathless, blinking up at him in surprise.
‘hola to you too,’ you teased.
he ignored you, pressing his forehead against yours. ‘you’re never leaving for that long again.’
you laughed softly, fingers brushing through his hair. ‘i can’t promise that, pablo.’
‘then i’ll come with you.’
‘you have a job, remember?’
he frowned. ‘it’s a stupid job.’
you grinned. ‘says the guy who loves football more than anything.’
‘not more than you,’ he muttered, arms still locked around you.
you sighed, shaking your head. ‘you’re impossible.’
‘you love it.’
you did. you really did.
he grabbed your suitcase, throwing an arm over your shoulder as he started leading you toward the exit.
‘come on, we’re going home. and i’m not letting you out of my sight for at least a week.’
you smiled, leaning into him. ‘fine by me.’
the drive back to his place was quiet, but it wasn’t awkward. it was the kind of comfortable silence that only came from knowing someone so deeply that words weren’t always necessary. gavi had one hand on the wheel, the other resting on your thigh, thumb brushing absently over your skin.
you watched him in the dim light of the car, his face focused, jaw tight like he was still processing the fact that you were finally here.
‘you okay?’ you asked softly.
he glanced at you, squeezing your leg before turning back to the road. ‘yeah. just… missed you.’
you smiled, threading your fingers through his. ‘i missed you too.’
he let out a small breath, like he had been holding it in for weeks.
‘you’re really not leaving for a while, right?’
you bit your lip. ‘well—’
his head snapped toward you so fast you thought he might give himself whiplash. ‘no. no way. you just got back.’
you laughed. ‘pablo, relax. i meant i have a few interviews and press stuff, but i don’t have to travel again for at least a month.’
he exhaled dramatically. ‘okay. that’s fine. i can work with a month.’
you rolled your eyes, leaning over to kiss his cheek. ‘you’re so dramatic.’
he just hummed, tightening his grip on your hand like he was scared you’d slip away.
when you finally reached his apartment, he barely gave you time to take off your shoes before he was pulling you onto the couch, dragging you into his lap.
‘pablo,’ you giggled. ‘let me breathe.’
‘no.’
you shook your head, running your fingers through his hair. ‘you’re like a clingy puppy.’
he just buried his face in your neck, mumbling something you couldn’t quite hear.
‘what was that?’
he sighed, voice muffled against your skin. ‘i hated not being there.’
you softened, tilting his chin up so he was looking at you. his eyes were darker than usual, serious.
‘you support me, pablo. even from miles away. i always feel you with me.’
he swallowed, looking down for a second before meeting your gaze again. ‘i wanted to be in the stands. wanted to run down to the court and pick you up when you won. wanted to kiss you in front of everyone so they knew you were mine.’
your heart ached.
‘pablo—’
‘i know your career is important. i’d never want you to give that up. but sometimes i wish things were easier. that i could just be with you all the time.’
you sighed, resting your forehead against his.
‘me too.’
his hands slid up your back, pressing you even closer. ‘promise me something?’
‘anything.’
‘next time you win a title, i’ll be there. no matter what.’
you smiled, pressing a kiss to his lips. ‘deal.’
he grinned against your mouth, flipping you onto your back so he could hover over you.
‘good. because i don’t plan on missing another match ever again.’
you laughed, pulling him down for another kiss.
home. finally.
Hey, could you write something for Jude where the reader is tired of the game? One day, he was all hers, intense looks, lingering touches, words that made her heart race. The next, he was cold and distant, as if nothing had ever happened. She tried not to care, to pretend it didn’t bother her. But every ignored message, every unexplained absence, only made the knot in her chest tighten. Did he really love her? Or was she just a distraction for his lonely days?
Please think about it!!!! 🙏🙏🙏🙏
warnings:: angst, no closure & self care also no happy ending.
writers notes:: this is the last fic on my list so i wrote this in a crisis @barcapix iykyk 💔.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
one day, he was all yours.
the way he looked at you like there was no one else in the world. fingers tracing the edge of your wrist like he was memorizing it. words he only said when the room was dark and the space between you was just barely enough to breathe.
‘you get under my skin like no one else.’ ‘don’t ever leave.’ ‘this feels like more, doesn’t it?’
you’d believed him. every time.
because it did feel like more.
until it didn’t.
the next day, he was cold. distant. unreadable.
no good morning texts. no soft smiles. no warmth in his voice.
he’d brush past you like your body wasn’t one he held against his just nights ago.
you’d send a message.
hey. you good?
left on delivered. for hours.
then days.
you tried not to care. really, you did.
told yourself he was busy. that he didn’t owe you anything. that it wasn’t serious.
but your chest told another story.
a tight knot that only grew worse with every silence, every excuse, every moment he proved he could disappear just as fast as he showed up.
you saw him laughing at a party once, eyes shining, arms around someone else.
not touching her the way he touched you. but still enough to hurt.
he caught your eye from across the room.
and for a split second, he looked guilty.
then he looked away.
you sat in your car that night, keys still in the ignition, phone in your hand.
did you ever really care? or was i just a distraction for when you were lonely?
you didn’t send it.
you didn’t need to.
the silence already answered for him.
you never got your closure.
no text. no call. no explanation.
just… distance.
and over time, that silence turned into something else not peace exactly, but a quieter kind of pain.
the kind you learned to live with.
the kind that stopped stinging every time you heard his name.
you started showing up again.
not for him, but for yourself.
brighter lip gloss. louder music in your car. smiling at strangers just to feel a little something warm in return.
you still thought of him sometimes when your favorite song came on. when someone said “you look happy lately.”
but mostly, you just… moved.
forward. slowly.
and jude noticed.
at first it was a glance.
you walked past him in a crowded room, head held high, a soft laugh falling from your lips, and he looked.
then came the double take. the long stares. the quiet moments when he thought you didn’t notice him watching.
but you did.
you just didn’t care anymore.
he finally texted one night.
can we talk?
you stared at the screen for a full minute before locking your phone again.
not out of anger.
but because there was nothing left to say.
you’d already cried. already questioned everything. already pieced yourself back together.
you weren’t angry. you weren’t bitter.
you were just… done.
and jude?
he was the one sitting in his car now, staring at his phone, wondering how it all slipped through his hands so easily.
he replayed every moment like a highlight reel he couldn’t turn off.
you smiling in his hoodie. you falling asleep on his chest. you whispering “don’t make me regret this.”
he did.
some nights, he thinks about texting again.
but he knows better now.
you weren’t a maybe.
you were always almost, until you weren’t.
and now you’re untouchable.
because you stopped waiting for him to choose you.
and chose yourself instead.
okay, i've seen enough "___ asks of 2024" so i created a football version (:
