Description: You and your repair team arrive on Polus. While working on the ship, someone dies. There is an imposter on Polus. (Fundy x Reader)
[Read the rest under the cut]
Arriving on Polus was unnerving, to say the least. The cargo holding area opened to a deserted planet settlement that was thick with silence. Your job was to fix it up.
With 9 of you, it'd be quick. You would be on a ship back to your baby brother in all but blood, Sykkuno, before the week was over. Maybe even before Corpse did. Which was an impressive thought, a goal to aim for.
Corpse and his team held the record for quickest repair and evacuation. It was more than inspiring, if you were honest with yourself. It was badass too. You were so proud of Corpse, who was practically family with how close he and Sykkuno were.
Oh, Sykkuno had been so proud when he heard you'd gotten accepted on an off-planet mission. They'd even took the time to make your favourite cookies before you left. Speaking of which...
You sighed happily, the [topping] cookie was heavenly to your taste buds. After days of just special space food, which was just usually disgustingly dehydrated blobs labeled as "food".
Now that you were on a planet with an atmosphere that'd allow your stomach to handle solids, you were going to take full advantage of it.
"What's that?" Someone asked, peeking over your shoulder.
You squeaked, hunching into yourself uncomfortably to hide the box. Turning your head, you saw the fox hybrid who had introduced himself as Oliver Arechtenshire Smichalist Cumbucket and refused to say his real name.
"Oh," You laughed awkwardly, closing the lunch box with one finger. "It's nothing, Cumbucket."
"What?" They blinked, flushed. Then, it hit the fox like a train. "Oh! Pff, my name is Fundy."
Grinning, you nodded along. "Oh, sorry Cumbucket."
"Wha-? Stop!" They demanded, pretty pink dust scattered across his face. It's a shame he still had his helmet on, you thought.
"I'm Y/N." You happily ignored his embarrassed spluttering. "And it's a pleasure to meet you, Fundy."
"That's a pretty name," Fundy said before catching himself. "Pretty unique, I meant. It's a unique name."
Raising a brow, you nodded. He stepped back with an oddly shy air to him. For a man who told everyone his name was "Oliver Arechtenshire Smichalist Cumbucket" with not a hint of embarrassment, he certainly was easy to fluster.
You moved towards him, heading for the security cameras. You were only slightly hoping to spot someone tripping or something.
Fundy trailed behind, his warm brown eyes sharp as he searched for something. At the same time, you both spotted half of James laying in a bloody pile near vitals.
"Holy shit-!" You stumbled back, right into Fundy. They held onto you tightly, staring at the screen, stone-faced. They spoke solemnly. "We have to call a meeting."
{《☆》}
"Was anyone with anyone?" Lyaria asked, looking around the room of, now, only 8 people.
"Me and Fundy were together the entire time," You offered, still leaning heavily into the fox. Fundy held you tightly, protectively curled around you as you stood around the table. "We got distracted and then-, we saw-,"
"We got onto cameras and James was dead." Fundy finished, he rubbed circles into your arm. His eyes met Lyaria and he practically growled.
"Anyone else?"
Sebastian spoke up for the first time, nervously glancing over the room. He met Fundy's eyes before they darted away and he cleared his throat. "I was with Drew in specimen."
"What?" Drew exclaimed, "I was no where near any special men. You're an imposter!"
"Yeah," Fundy spoke up. You had to shift over as the hybrid leaned forward. "I think you are."
"What?" Sebastian laughed nervously. "You're not serious? I saw you, Drew! I was right next to you! Why would you-?"
Lyaria cut him off, her cold blue eyes acessing him. "I believe you."
"Y-you do? Oh thank god!" Sebastian sighed. They whirled around on Drew immediately. "I think it's Drew!"
"Probably," Billiam said. "But we should throw him into space because he's poor, I don't really care about James."
"Sure." Karl agreed. And slowly, everyone came to agree. Drew simply nodded along, uncaring. Or maybe he was too stupid to realize he was going to die.
You frowned, it was a tough decision but everyone was making it so easily. Drew was going to die, whether you voted him or not.
The voting was anonymous, but it still showed exactly what you thought it would. Drew had been the only one to vote Sebastian, you had voted skip, and everyone else voted Drew.
You turned away, hiding your face into Fundy's chest. They wrapped their arms around you, pressing themselves close and laying their cheek on your head. All you could hear was the yelling as everyone forced Drew away, to his death.
Then, Fundy started humming softly.
It was something to focus on. A lifeline to your horrible day. Fundy's heart beat heavily in their chest, helping you just melt into the man's arms.
It was over. Drew was dead. James was killed. Things weren't going to be as easy as you had hoped.
{《☆》}
Things were strange after those deaths. You and Fundy stuck together the entire time, navigating through empty, abandoned halls that were full of tense anticipation.
You had gotten half of your tasks done before the next murder. Fundy was ahead of you, waiting for specimen doors to open.
The lights had flickered at first, before everything went out completely. Your comms were still up tough, so you managed to make it to the wires next to the door and wait there for Fundy to find you or for lights to turn on.
Lyaria was dead.
Billiam's butler had found her.
"How many words sir?"
"Hm," The man considered. "11."
"I found her in, uh, Admin? I think someone vented. That's all." They said, fiddling with a bucket of milk. Billiam nodded.
"I was with Y/N. He and I were together the entire time." Fundy said, resting a hand on your shoulder. You nodded along, even if you hadn't seen Fundy the last few minutes.
"We were about to a go into specimen," You explained, picking at your fingers. Karl and Butler nodded along, but Billiam hummed curiously.
Sebastian narrowed his eyes at you two. "You guys have been vouching for each other the entire time... I don't know if I trust you."
"They seem rather chummy," Karl noted. Their brown hair was pushed away and they looked into your eyes. You tilted your head and Karl fidgeted. They glanced up, over your shoulder and shuddered. "But I don't think it's Y/N."
Fundy's lips were pressed into a thin line as he tugged you closer to him. Relaxing back, you looked over everyone.
Only 6 of you. If there were 2 people killing like you guessed, they were dangerously close to winning their twisted game.
You should vote to be safe, that'd be the safest option but...
"I think we should skip."
With nothing to guess on, it was all you could do.
{《☆》}
Things were dangerous. The lights were out, you lost Fundy, and everything was going wrong.
"Fundy?" You called out, peering cautiously into the dark space. The floor squeaked under your shoes, making your heart skip a beat as you slowly looked down.
Blood.
You bit down a scream, stumbling back into doors that closed before you could leave. Suddenly someone stepped closer and you found yourself face to face with a bloody Fundy.
"Oh," You gasped, choking down a sob. Fundy saw you and instead of killing you instantly, his face broke. He looked just as dejected and horrified as you felt.
"You weren't suppose to see this." He said, sounding heartbroken. But he just... he killed someone. You shouldn't feel bad for a murderer.
"Fundy," Your voice cracked, (e/c) eyes peeking through the smallest gaps and just seeing more and more blood. "What did you do...?"
"Y/N," Fundy cried out instead, heart-broken. "I'm so sorry. You weren't supposed to-, to-!"
"You were supposed to be unaware and-, and weak," Fundy recited, like it was ingrained in his head. "We were supposed to kill them and-, kill everyone. It's our mission."
It broke your heart hearing Fundy practically sob. "Fundy, I-,"
You didn't know what to do, so you threw yourself into Fundy's arms. The man hiccuped, looping their arm around you and holding you so tightly.
"I'm sorry," Fundy whispered, but not to you. "I can't kill them all. I won't kill him."
"I love you," he said louder, this time to you. I'm sorry but I do."
Laughing stupidly, crying all the meanwhile, you burrowed yourself closer. You pressed yourself so much closer, until you could almost forget that Fundy was covered in blood. When you could forget that their louder than average heartbeats was because he was an alien and not just nervous.
Pulling back, you couldn't help but sob those words out too. "I love you. I love you. I love you."
You pressed your foreheads together, ignore the sickly feeling of blood sticking to your hands. Their hands trembled as he held yours tightly, leaning into the touch. Smearing blood on Fundy's cheek when you caressed it, you gave him a small nod.
"I won't say anything, Fundip. We'll both get out of this, okay?"
"Yeah," he shakily said, his eyes fluttering open. "I won't let anyone kill you. I'll kill everyone before they get to you."
Crying, you pressed a quick kiss to Fundy's lips. When you pulled away, he followed.
{《☆》}
You lived, but at what cost?
Their deaths was all you could think of as Fundy held you, in the middle of a bloodbath. Everyone was dead, even Billiam, who looked stronger than your fox. They were the other murderer, but now they were dead...
You laughed weakly. You couldn't go back now. Sykkuno would be heart broken and Corpse would pull away again but you've already chosen.
You chose him when you shared your special cookies and when you joked together. You chose him when you were crying and kissing. It was you and him now.
Leaving Polus, a graveyard that was still only half-functional, you leaned against Fundy and you weeped.
{《☆》}
[God, I love Fundy. Was this more for me than you? Maybe a bit. The next one should be a romantic Dream one, so that'll come out on Sunday(?)]

Wing Care But Families Are Hard💛

Description: You go visit home after a few weeks. Phil, your grandpa, greets you in the living room. Things don't settle well and it comes to a head while he preens your wings. (Platonic Philza x Reader)
[Read the rest under the cut]
{《☆》}
"Hey Phil," You said, pushing open the door of Techno's home. Just like you thought he'd be, Phil was reading a book as he curled up on the couch. You stretched your wings out a bit, shaking them out a bit.
"I'm still jealous you can do that," Phil complained as he stretched his arms. You laughed at him, flying in the rain was horrendous when you didn't have an oil gland. You never had to worry though. You could fly in the rain for a bit if you really wanted to.
You didn't often because having wet wings was more than mildly uncomfortable but you still could.
Phil walked over to you, settling a towel on your head. You grinned up at him, wrapping your arms around him quickly.
"Woah-!" Phil laughed. Gently, he ran a hand through your hair. You melted into the touch, relaxing until you were leaning heavily on Phil. "You're so cold, mate."
"Mhm," It's a distant answer, too busy focusing on the mini-preening to your head to answer. You click your tongue in contentment, feeling a low rumble build up in your throat. "I think your wings need to be preened, Y/N."
You groan, too relaxed to do it yourself. "Can you help?"
"Of course."
He gently pulls away, settling you down on the couch. You shuffled to curl away and spread out one of your wings. He gently ran a hand through them, looking for blood feathers.
Carefully, he made sure to avoid them when he pulled out feathers. Gently and carefully, soothing and relaxing. You crooned happily, melting back against the couch.
You closed your eyes, feeling nothing but gooey as he gently fixed up your wings. It'd been so long since your last preening, back when Tommy was still living under the basement in his makeshift home. It was cold but it was nice as Tommy preened them.
You missed him... You hadn't been allowed to see him after... everything. Your dad was too overprotective to let you see your thrice backstabbing uncle.
"You okay," Phil asked softly, carding a gentle hand through your fluffed up mahogany feathers.
Tommy was never like Phil when he preened. Tommy was quick and nimble but soft. Phil was slow and gentle and tough. Years of experience compared to Tommy's slight hesitation or fumbling. But your uncle was always hesitant recently...
You nodded weakly. "Yeah, just-... I-I miss him..."
"So do I," Phil admitted, the same rough edge from when he talked about Wilbur coming through. "But you know why you can't see him."
You bit your tongue. "Not even after his death?" You wanted to ask. Instead, you sighed.
"Because he's a liar and backstabber," You recited your father's words like they were your own. "He only ever treated Dad like a weapon."
"Family meant nothing to him," Phil stressed, plucking a father out with a sudden pinch. "We meant nothing to him."
You shook your head. They didn't know Tommy like you did, even if they thought they did. Admittedly, he hadn't told you everything, but you knew a majority of the twisted things Dream had done to your once headstrong and stubborn uncle.
And you knew exactly what family meant to him. It meant Wilbur and Techno and Phil. But it also meant Tubbo and Fundy and Niki and L'Manberg. Family was a sore subject but on the late nights where he was too broken to care about reputations, he cried to you about how much he still loved Tubbo and L'Manburg. They had hurt him, he had hurt them.
In the end, their blood-strengthened bond had been stronger than weak, years old ties.
And it did hurt.
You had thought that, maybe, he would actually become your uncle that you've been hearing stories about. The Tommy that waged wars with gods and won with only a ragtag group of kids. The Tommy who had been a conman long before he became family.
But things had changed and he had changed. In the end, you can only be glad he is still alive.
"How has Snowchester been?" Phil filled in the silence, plucking another feather. "I heard Ranboo and Tubbo adopted a kid."
"Yeah," You managed after a few seconds, thoughts and words dying on your tongue. "Micheal is a sweet kid. He's starting to talk, kinda."
Phil nods, running a hand through your feathers a final time and patting your shoulder. You leaned away, settling on the opposite side of the couch.
The rain seemed to pour harder, fighting against the windows like a beast. It didn't usually rain around your dad's house, but you supposed there's a first time for everything.
"Phil," It's hard to find the right words. It's like your mind is forgetting your entire vocabulary. A part of you is saying bail, but it's the cowardly part of you. The part that took after Phil.
"Did you ever love Tommy?"
It's an easier question than "do you love me?".
"I-," Phil tries, his brows furrowed. Their purple wings, already so pale, shift awkwardly. It's uncomfortable how long it's taking him to answer. "Of course I did-, do. Of course I do."
It's not the answer you were looking for. You craved something more honest, and something more caring. It was silly to dream when you had already known the answer.
"Yeah," You muster, staring out the window. "I should probably go soon."
"So soon-?" Phil says, a little more brokenly than earlier. "But-?"
"Tubbo'll need help with putting Micheal to bed." You offer weakly. "They're so hyper that it's a two-person job."
"I see." They sigh, giving you a tight smile nonetheless. "Visit again soon. Techno hasn't admitted it yet but he misses you. You're his kid."
"Wilbur being your kid didn't stop you from killing him."
You bite your tongue and nod. When you step out, the rain feels heavy as you fly away from your grandfather.
Tubbo wasn't expecting you back until Sunday and you didn't really have a house built anywhere else.
Tommy's hotel could use a customer, right?

The rain seemed to pick up as you flew away from your dad's house. The rain got heavy, heavier than you could safely fly in, as you got closer and closer to the main area of the Dream SMP.
You pulled your wings close to your body and started a quick descent towards the ground, eyes dead set on one block. Only a few feet above the ground, with the wind whipping past you, you snapped your wings out and you landed to a minor stumble over the prime path.
Tommy's hotel stood, looming in front o you. The bright red walls stained a darker red as the rain hit every second. You took a deep breath in, solidifying your resolve before you started towards the door. It was unlocked, opening and inviting you to spend a night. It was certainly better than spending the night outside in the rain.
An android sat at the reception, staring right at you unblinking with its very adorable racoon ears twitching softly. They gave you a very robotic version of a smile, nodding politely. "WELCOME TO THE TOMMYINNIT HOTEL. WOULD YOU LIKE TO GET A ROOM?"
You nod, looking over the hotel for the first time. Your dad had told you before to stay away and you had listened, ignoring every piece of mail inviting your family to go over. But nowhere you were, for the first time going against your father's explicit directions because you felt... confused? Concerned, even. You weren't entirely sure what you were feeling besides anxious.
What if Tommy took one look at you and told you to leave and never come back. He wouldn't, you knew he wouldn't. But what if?
Tommy's head poked out from the floor, his eyes over the edge just enough for you to spot the glittering blue. Your heart stops for a second, terrified. "...Y/N?"
"TomTom," You blurted before you could, using that silly nickname you made up when you were kids. Your wings puffed up around you just thinking back to those days. "Hey..."
Tommy climbed out of the floor, which was really just a small entrance to a basement now that you could see. His face was more bruised than you remembered, blotched over his nack and face. His smile is more of a smirk, a fond lift to the edges. "TomTom? You haven't called me that since you were 8. "
You laughed at your own mistake, finding it amusing how Tommy thinks he was better. "Yeah? Remember when you called me Chip every day."
Tommy cringed, the memories of his adorable babbling about you being a cookie came back to him. Those four years were amusing to everyone except him, apparently. He shook the memories off and quirked his head at you. "That's not important right now. Why are you here?"
You shrugged a bit awkwardly, trying not to drag your slightly wet wings on the floor. "I thought it'd be nice to finally spend a night here. You opened it a few weeks ago, right?"
"Close enough." Tommy shrugged, looking away from you. Tommy mumbled something so you leaned closer to hear him. "...didn't think... come..."
"What?"
"I didn't think anyone would come," Tommy admitted louder, shuffling his feet in place. "I mean, Techno and Phil have been avoiding me like the plauge so I thought– ya know?"
You inhaled a bit sharply, biting your cheek. "They don't know I'm here. Dad would probably have my head if he found out. And... I was. Going to avoid this place, I mean. But things change and I, well, I missed you."
Tommy turned his head away, his shoulders shaking. For a second you though he was going to start yelling and fighting. But then he started laughing, a bit hysterical and wet and trembling. He was crying, you realized as he wiped at his tears desperately.
"I'm sorry," he choked out. "Its just, I feel like since I've came back that no one even cares. But you're he–re and... I'm sorry I'm just being stupid."
You crooned sadly, your wings ruffling to shake off water before you pulled a wing over Tommy. He relaxed back into your wing, pressing a hand to the feathers hesitantly. You warbled soothingly, pressing your wing closer to him. The urge to care, to heal, to protect your human, your family, your flock, it was strong and you could barely stop yourself from preening his hair.
"No, no... I'm sorry I didn't visit sooner." You said, leaning your forehead against his shoulder. You wrapped another wing around Tommy and let out a shaky breath. "Dad's gone crazy protective after you left. Almost had to fight him to let me visit Tubbo as much as I do."
Tommy laughed dryly, leaning against you. "That sounds like Techno. Even when we were kids he hardly let us do anything without him with us, remember?"
You let out an exaggerated groan. "He was the absolute worst. Remember when he'd follow us around school thinking no one saw him and we got called into the office because they thought he was stalking us?"
Tommy laughs at the memory. That village lasted about a year before you guys were on the road again. Going to school there wasn't the worst, but they certainly weren't like the nicer villagers near Hypixel's hub.
Tommy goes silent, staring at a random spot in the hotel, lost in thought. Quietly, he asks you. "Does Techno ever— does he miss me? I mean, I know I betrayed him and I'm—I am sorry about that but..."
"He wouldn't say it, but I know he does." You say back, just as softly. "You were close to him, Toms. You still are. You're his brother. Nothing, not even the war, could change that."
He sniffs, shaking his head softly. "Look at you, acting all grow 'n shit. Just yesterday you were all snotty and whiny about sleeping with your favourite blanket." He laughs wetly, resting his head against yours. "When did everything go to shit..."
"I dunno," You say, closing your eyes. "I don't know."

"I don't want you hanging around Y/N anymore," Fundy said, dead serious as he stared down Quackity. "He's mine."
Quackity's brows furrowed, "You can't restrict who Y/N hangs out with. Kinda possessive." It was obvious Fundy didn't care, the fox simply staring at him like they could see his soul. "Whatever. You can stop me from doing shit."
Fundy let them walk away, knowing that as they hurriedly strode away, he wouldn't have to worry about Quackity trying to steal you.
'Y/N's mine,' he thought bitterly. Fundy wasn't letting anyone touch his gem like that. Quackity had gotten too comfortable with you, forgetting his own fiances when he flirted shamelessly. Fundy wasn't afraid to remind anyone who you belonged to.
Rolling his shoulders, Fundy started towards the nether portal. You were off in Dry Waters, helping with construction, so that was where Fundy had to be.
You were technically Dry Waters only citizen after Niki and Ranboo left. And despite that, you had taken it upon yourself to work hard to build up the shadow of a town. Fundy loved how determined you were to help. And the look on your face when you concentrated on construction plans for too long, then you'd look up at him when you noticed him finally with joy lighting up your eyes and Fundy would melt slightly and agree to get anything you needed without hesitation.
Call him a simp, he was gladly one for you.
He let out a relaxed sigh as he entered the temporary house you two shared. Just like he knew you would be, you sat at your desk scribbling down at a piece of paper. You twisted the pen between your fingers, distracted by ideas so heavy that you didn't notice Fundy approaching.
He carefully approached, reaching around to situate himself before he relentlessly started tickling under your ribs. You squealed in shock, rolling back and twisting away from the deadly hands.
"Stop! Pff-! No-!"
There was a panicked moment when you shoved him off of you and he went careening to the floor. But you just laughed harder as Fundy sat up slowly.
"I hate you," Fundy pouts, leaning back on his palms. His ears flick at you, you just giggle at him. "No you don't."
Fundy exaggeratedly frowned, drawing out a dramatic sigh. "You're right, I don't."
You stand up and walk over to him, snuggling up to him. He shifts slightly as you lean on him, a smitten smile on his lips. Fundy wraps an arm around your waist and pulls you even closer. "How have things been here, darling?"
"Fine," you hum noncommittedly. Closing your eyes, you settle against him. "I've missed you here. It's been forever."
Fundy chuckles fondly, a small, satisfied purr rumbling in his throat. "It's been three hours max."
Humming, you twist to face him. "Three hours too long."
Fundy melts under your stare, rubbing circles into your hips. Unable to stop himself, he presses a soft kiss to your forehead. "I missed you too," he softly admits.
"Now who's the clingy one?" You tease, voice quiet in the soft atmosphere he created. Either way, you press your foreheads together and just breathe it in. Things have been hard lately, Dry Waters wasn't an easy project and you're a one-man team. Breaks were a luxury you've yet to have. At least, you never take any when Fundy isn't here.
The silence was good. It was comfortable when he was there to hold you and when Fundy's chest would rumble with barely-there purrs or when he'd pull you impossibly closer and press you into his chest and hold you like the rest of the world would decay if you weren't in his arms.
Fundy took your face in his hands, his cold fingers brushing your cheeks gently. He held you like you were his entire world. Your eyes flutter shut and you hold his hand as it caresses your face. There was something different about the world when Fundy held you like this. It softened, the colours were lighter and it seemed like everything except for Fundy just blurred and went away.
It was only him and you. Together. In each other's arms because there was no place you'd rather be.
You opened your eyes slowly as the distant noise of footsteps came closer. Fundy didn't seem to notice, fully focused on tracing invisible lines across your cheeks. "Fundy, cmon, up. Someone's here."
He blinked, frowning as you tried getting up. "Just tell them to go away." Then, he pulled you closer again. You could only barely keep yourself from falling back into another world with him.
"Fundy, I can't tell them to go unless you let me up."
Sighing, he relaxed back and let you go. Brushing off dirt from your pants, you walk over towards the entrance. Someone had already let themselves in because the door was wide open. A bit foolish of Fundy to keep it unlocked but whatever, it was probably just Niki or Ranboo. Maybe even HBomb. They all knew they were welcomed in your home.
HBomb might even be in his cat maid outfit and you finally get to witness him torturing Fundy live. That would be the highlight of your day
"Hello? Where'd you go uh-, Niki? No, Niki would have better manners. HBomb? Yeah, that sounds- oh..."
Technoblade and Philza stood in your living room, examining the objects strewn across the room with a critical eye. They turned to you, their swords out. Now, you were definitely the most skilled in building but you've fought before and you've fought well. Turning slightly, you pull your own sword out.
"Why are you here?" You demanded. Normally you'd have better manners. But also normally, people didn't break into your home. You glanced back at where Fundy was waiting for you. He'd come to find you if you were any louder so, quieter, you asked again. "What do you want?"
Technoblade frowned down at you, intimidating even as he stood hunched over himself awkwardly. Philza took a step forward, his palms raised in the air as you pointed your sword at him. "We need to talk to Fundy, mate. So could you go get him?"
Technoblade scowled at you, so you glared right back. "No. What do you want with him?"
"It's none of your business." Technoblade gruffly said, his grip on his sword tight. "Go get him."
You scoff. "He's my husband. His business is my business."
Philza took a step back, obviously startled at the news. "His-? When did he get married?"
"After you pricks blew up L'Manburg. We decided to tie the knot before it got too late." You frown at him. glancing back at the hybrid who just stared judgementally. "Now, why do you want to talk to him."
"I want him to stop messing around by my house." Technoblade cut in before Philza could, his red eyes glinting dangerously. "The next time I see him, I will kill him."
"Techno," Philza warns, glancing between the two of you. He sighs, "We do want him to stop coming over. He's not exactly welcome after... well, you know."
"I'll tell him. Now go. If I see you around him I will kill you." You stiffly say, watching as Philza's wings puff up slightly. Technoblade just scoffs as he makes his way towards the door.
"Like you could kill me."
Narrowing your eyes, you tug at your memory. "Careful, Tᒷᓵ⍑リ𝙹ʖꖎᔑ↸ᒷ, don't act like the voices haven't already warned you of me."
He stiffens slightly before he scoffs again. Philza pushes him forward and out the door, glancing back at you before he leaves. "Make sure to tell him."
Locking the door behind them, you turn back to the living room. Reaching the area where they stood, between the couch and the coffee table, you reached down to where they stuck the bug. Crushing the metal between your fingers, you made your way back to your office.
Fundy was dozing off, leaning back against the floor. You sighed, letting go of the tension that had coiled in your chest and you drop down next to him. Instantly, he throws his arm over you and pulls you close.

You have enough work to deal with. Every day, every hour, every minute, every second someone dies. It's a tiring job having to deal with the amount of death in the world.
And of course, having someone fall in love with you makes it even worse after they get it in their head that the only way to see you is murder.
"What do you want this time?" It's so irritating, every drop of blood they shed was just more work for you. The bloody figure leapt up instantly, their masked face splitting into a wide grin.
"I've missed you," He softly chuckles, ignoring the tone. The almost dead body at their feet trembles, hazy eyes begging you for help.
You take their soul with a flick of your hand. It's the only mercy you can provide. "You're so irritating, Dream."
He pulls off his mask, setting it to the side and stepping over the dead body. "You love me though." Dream giggles when you sigh.
"I'd love you if you stopped giving me work," You grumbled, trying to mentally account for how many more people you'd have to visit in the next minute. America wasn't your jurisdiction alone, but you did a majority of the work since the rest of the reapers still had family alive. "Now can we get this over with?"
Dream pouts, looking in your eyes with a pitifully sad frown. "But you just got here." They kick their feet like a child, stubbornly getting closer to you.
Sighing, you already know he won't let you go without a fight. It's happened before and you'd rather not go through it again.
"You can come with as long as you don't ruin anything."
Dream nods enthusiastically. He latches onto your arm and you roll your eyes. With a quick flick of your hand, you both are gone.
{《☆》}
"Oh wow," Dream stares at everything with a thinly veiled excitement. Your office is nothing special, but he seems fascinated by it all. "It looks so homey."
You shrug. You did stay there most days, so it made sense to keep most of your personal belongings there as well. It seems your mortal companion was awestruck by it.
Dream turns to you again, a cheeky grin on his lips. "You should bring me here more often."
Rolling your eyes, you gesture to a seat beside your desk. He sat swiftly, giving you a sickly sweet smile. Sighing, you sat down at your desk. Instantly he shuffled his seat closer until he was practically leaning all his weight onto you.
As you started writing, Dream deeply inhaled. He pressed even closer, nuzzling his nose in the crook of your neck. Very quickly, he was sat in your lap.
It wasn't even five minutes until he started peppering tiny kisses to your neck. It was mildly irritating, as it did distract you from your paperwork. "Can you stop?"
"No," He chuckled and continued with his gentle kisses. Honestly, you were just going to ignore it until you got your paperwork done. Then, you'd bring him back to the mortal realm and everything would go back to normal.
Until he started killing again.
Sighing, you toyed with the idea of keeping him. A few other personifications of Death had ended up taking up mortals. Whether as children or friends and even occasionally lovers. It wouldn't be impossible to keep him with you to lower your workload.
Dream pressed another kiss, to your jaw this time. "Stop thinking so hard," he soothed. "You'll get frown lines with how much you're thinking."
You straightened your posture, fixing your face back to a neutral impasse look. Dream giggled, tilting his head back to get a better look at you. Yes. You suppose it would probably be easier to just keep him.
Looking down at him, you lifted a hand and cradled his face. Dream eagerly leaned into it, a soft smile lifting his features. The relatively smooth, slightly tan skin and pretty blue-green eyes. He was unfairly attractive by mortal standards.
"Hmm..." You traced a finger along his cheekbone, watching as the mortal shivered delightfully. The blood that speckled his face was an inconvenience, you had always been finicky about that stuff, but you could make him a mortal fit for a god. "Yes, you will do..."
They peeked through an eye at you, hopeful and slightly crazed. It almost made you laugh, mortals were so strange. Taking pity, you give him what he desires. A simple kiss. Truly, mortals are such simple creatures.
His lips are chapped, but they taste faintly like cherries. You find that you quite like cherries. You don't want to pull away for a second, but you do anyway.
The mortal sighed dreamily, staring up at you with a lovestruck expression. You smile down at him. He was such a pretty problem.

It starts like all good things, with a bang.
Fundy's cooking for you, a hobby he's taken up as weeks with nothing to do have passed by. You can smell it from the study, the lining of cow's blood he mixed in the soup just for you. Fundy's part fox, which means he enjoys raw meat just as much as you, but he's never enjoyed human blood as much as you do. It's sweet for him to add some in, even if it's cows blood.
You're filing down more paperwork, seems some vigilante named Monarch has been raiding your warehouses looking for something or... You chance a glance towards the photo on your desk, a high-quality one of you and Fundy in your background having a picnic. He was laughing when it was taken, beautiful brown eyes pressed closed, cheeks slightly red. You loathed admitting you had gotten a tad attached to the little fox but the thought of someone coming looking for him had your blood boiling.
Then, as you almost snapped your pen in half, a loud bang came from the kitchen alongside a sharp yelp from Fundy. You rushed forward, slightly breathless as you whirled into the kitchen only to find Fundy tearing up, shaking on the floor as boiling soup soaks his clothes.
He looks up at you, shaky lips pressed together to hold sobs in. Without any hesitation he rushes for you, throwing himself into your chest to sob. The soup is a mess on the floor, steam rolling off it and you grimace. You peel him away from you, looking at the mess he's made of himself.
"Oh darling," You coo, reaching up to cup his face. "You're filthy. I bet it hurts, doesn't it."
Fundy nods, sniffling. "I didn't mean to drop it, I swear. It was just so hot and..." he sniffles, "I'm sorry."
"It's okay, shh shh, look at me." You wiped tears and soup off his face. "Go run a shower and I'll get someone to pick this up and meet you there."
"Okay," he muttered softly. Glancing back at you, he leaves slowly.
You sigh, turning to the kitchen. It's a burden to pick up yourself so you'll just call someone to do it for you. As you call for a helper, you think back to Fundy's distant behavior. He's been zoning off far more lately and while he's always quick to fix anything he does wrong, today he's... sensitive.
You don't stand around long. After you call them, you're already making quick strides to catch up to Fundy. As you open the door, you catch the sniffling over the pouring of the bath.
Fundy looks over, stripped sown to just his boxers, which miraculously look barely touched. He does brighten up a bit when you enter but it's still diluted in the melancholy.
You strip to your undergarments too, sitting in the large tub with Fundy gladly between your legs, back to your chest. Your little fox greatly enjoys being held, even now that somethings bothering him he's all over you, head tipped back to rest on your shoulder.
"What's wrong darling," You ask gently, pressing soft kisses to his jawline. "You're acting more distant than usual."
"It's nothing just..." He bites his lower lip and looks away with a sigh. "I miss home."
You try to ignore the tension in his body as he asks. It's so off-putting when he gets scared of you. You sigh, thinking back to Monarch's recent break-in to one of your warehouses, trying to find information on Fundy, rightfully assuming you had something to do with it. Maybe... maybe he could visit home.
"If you miss them that badly, you could visit." You suggest casually, though you know the suggestion is anything but to him.
"Really!" Fundy turns, water sloshing out of the tub. He throws his arms around you, "Oh thank you, thank you, thank you!"
{《☆》}
"You're not coming along," Fundy asks again, biting his lip.
"I'll be there the entire time, just not by your side." You assure him, reaching up to brush hair from his eyes. He smiles widely at you, relaxing back at your words. He offers his arm to you one more time before you leave. "Not right now, darling. Can't have you looking less than perfect for your family."
Fundy pouts but obeys as obediently as always. You fix his shirt, making sure the hem isn't too roughed up. It's an old shirt but you can't just dress a missing person in a suit and send him back. He has to look somewhat hazardous. As you hold your hand at his collarbone, pressing against it lightly, he tries to smile. "I'll miss you."
"I know you will, darling." You smile, pulling your hand away. Fundy chases it for a second before swaying back in place, stock still just for you. "Now, I can't drop you off but if you ever need me just say the word. I have people ready to teleport us out."
"Y/N..." Fundy hesitates. "How long do I have with them?"
"All day if you're good." You smiled as Fundy squared his shoulders. "Now, let's go before someone wakes up."
You walk Fundy down an empty road, face covered with an cracked obsidian mask, molten gold filling the cracks. He seems anxious as you walk, hand curled into yours. You stop a few blocks before Fundy's previous residence as a precaution, bringing his hand up for a brief kiss before disappearing into the shadows.
The fox turns toward the street that will guide him home, firey red eyes glimmering in the artificial street light. He takes a step forward, and then another. He starts running, hair mused by the wind, feet carrying him faster as his neglected powers crackle with eagerness. As eager to be used again as Fundy was.
You follow behind casually because you already know where he's running. When you catch up, Fundys gasping lightly, hands on his knees as he stares at his old home with wonder. When he gets his breathe back he reaches forward, hands brushing the redwood door adoringly.
After a seconds hesitation and a glance back for you, he knocks. And then knocks faster. There is a distant voice you can hear yelling but Fundy doesn't stop.
"What!" They yell before the sight in front of their eyes catches up to their brain. They reel backwards, hands reaching to hold their mouth. "Fundy...?"
"Dad," he answers back, voice just as wet. He reaches forward and Wilbur wraps his arms around him and lifts him up, breathless. "Dad! Dad, put me down!"
"Where were you," Wilbur says when he puts him down, voice still shocked as he holds Fundy's face between his hands. He can't quite seem to help himself from pulling Fundy back into his arms.
"Nowhere important, Dad," Fundy mumbles into his father's shoulder. You feel something twist uncomfortably in your stomach as you stare at the reunion but it's easy to ignore. "I don't really want to talk about it. Can we just... watch a few movies? We could have that pizza from down the block?"
"Fundy you hate that place," Wilbur says with a small frown, he smoothes it out easily when Fundy just tilts forward with a sigh. "Alright. I'll call them and we can watch Treasure Planet. How'd that feel bud?"
"I'd love that," Fundy says, more relaxed than you've ever seen him. "I really, really would."
The night goes off without a hitch. Wilbur seemed tense but he always let Fundy lie to him and pretend it was nothing. They sit around and eat really cheesy pizza and watch the same movie twice before just talking for another 3 hours. They eat the leftovers of the pizza and Wilbur makes sure to remind Fundy every 5 minutes that he loves him.
When Fundy took a step out the front door, face nostalgic and sad, Wilbur took it in stride. He sweeps Fundy into one last hug, shoulders shaking with repressed tears. When he pulls away, he sets a gentle kiss on Fundy's forehead and says one last time, "I love you."
And Fundy smiles, that sweet and gentle one you had grown to adore, "I know, Dad. I love you too."
He steps away, pausing for a moment like he's rethinking something. With a small shake of his head, he lets go of the hesitation and leaves. You wait, staring right at Wilbur- Willow, you realize now, and his face splits into a soft sob as he falls to his knees.
You turn to follow after Fundy and don't looks back.
{《☆》}
Fundy has been in a higher spirits after his visit home. He seems lighter now that he's been reassured they're okay. It's not really insulting that he thinks you'd hurt them, you've had far worse assumptions made about you. Your mother had thought you the antichrist and tried murdering you as a young toddler, so at least this one was believeable and didn't result in a lifelong scar.
He seemed normal, pressing kisses to your bloody hands when you returned from work, bleeding for you, tracing your claims on his body like he wanted to brand them into his skin. But you never quite managed to get rid of the memory of his willing departure. You had started this with adrenaline coursing your veins, joyful at how much work Fundy was to break, ravishing yourself in his unique blood. Now though, it felt different. There was no game to play now that you knew he was loyal to you, utterly and completely yours.
You flicked through papers from your henchmen who were only reporting minor issues, homeless people breaking into warehouses or vigilantes sniffing around. Ugh, even they had started producing higher numbers. You were undoubtedly the strongest villain in the city and yet— You were incomplete.
"Darling," You call out, lips quirked up as eager footsteps come racing. Fundy waits patiently by the door for you to say something, anything at all. You rack your finger against the desk, nodding him over. As he settles on your lap, hands on your shoulder silently, something feels wrong.
You look back at your desk, staring at the picture of a homeless kid. Their thin white hair is disheveled as they struggled against two of your workers. Their pale blue eyes glare up at the camera, mouth foaming as he likely screams at the worker holding it. He was apparently a homeless kid with an unusually strong superpower who had broken in for a night's rest. You tilt your head at the photo for a second.
Maybe...
You look into Fundy's eyes, a sharp-toothed grin on your face. "How'd you feel about adopting a kid?"

Burn 💛
(699 words :) )
(He/him pronouns)
Description: You are burning your house down. Before you do, you and your father have a chat.
[Rest of the story under the cut.]
{《☆》}
You stare at your door, running a hand down the carved spruce wood. You had spent hours carving it, carving a family of foxes into it. Three of them. One, the largest, watching down on the second and third as the poets guitar lay by its feet. The little foxes play, rough housing with one another. You close your eyes and turn away.
He's there. He watches you with a lopsided smile when you open your eyes again, lips twisted at the edges in that dissimilar way you hated and loved. He is a dillusional phantom of your father, one who watches with the same burning eyes. "Are you really going to burn it down? Your legacy gone, just like that?"
It's like the world watches with bated breath for your answer, a quiet ringing in your ears as he just stand there. You curl your fingers into fists around your flint & steel, breathing in deeply. The air feels like fire in your lungs, weighing you down. "You know better than anyone I never cared about my legacy."
He laughs, a hand on your shoulder in a phantom grip of a proud hold. "The only thing you ever cared about was him." He agreed, his hand falling back to his side. "You'll do what it takes to keep him safe."
"He told me once," You start, a quivering thing in your voice that you hate with more than yourself. Your delusion stands next to you, tilting his head and leaning back against your porch railing. "He called you an Icarus. You flew too close to the sun."
He hums thoughtfully, "I was obsessed with my legacy. I didn't care what I had to do to keep it intact." Quieter, he admits words that only your hallucination will ever admit to you. "I didn't care if I lost you to keep my legacy."
"Your sentences bordered on senseless." You say, knuckles white as you hold the flint. A part of you is ready to get it over with, to rid the world of your reaction. "You were so paranoid, every time I saw you. Driving yourself insane faster than anyone could help."
"You and him were the only thing keeping me sane for a while. After I lost you, I lost it all. And then I lost myself." He admits. If this were real, you think you'd burst into tears. But it isn't, it's what you want to hear. You think you hate it more than hearing anything else. "I was scared of how they'd perceive me."
"Now I'm burning my house down." Its the hard truth. The reality of your actions slamming into you suddenly, like they were just thought before you spoke them into existence. It's funny, in a twisted way. "Let the world wonder how Y/N reacted when you broke his heart. I deserve to keep that to myself. You– the world doesn't deserves to know... It doesn't."
"Are you trying to tell me or convince me?" He laughs, brushing past you. He rests his palm on the door, brushing a gentle thumb over the guarding fox. "Go on then. Burn it down. Burn down our memories."
"I will." You say, stepping closer. The door is locked shut, photos and letters arranged in boxes in your room never to be seen again. Burning all the letters that might've redeemed him. The photos of who he was before, a father, a brother, a poet. "I will."
"Take the final step, Y/N," Wilbur chuckles, standing right by your side as your trembling hand lingers so close to drenched wood. "Burn the world down, my little soldier."
The fire catches quickly. Right in front of your eyes the family of foxes wilts and blackened flames scar any remnants of your work. With an echoing chuckle, your father fades from view and leaves nothing but soot on your face and a fire burning in front of your eyes.
"I hope that you burn." You whispher through a choked fog. Your house burn quickly and the smoke clogs up your lungs. You laugh as snot runs down your face and tears well up in your eyes.
And you burned too.
