I think this interpretation also makes sense with the whole intellect thing, bc I don’t think Golding meant to say logic will always be beat out when shit hits the fan, but more so it won’t be enough. But to have that statement, Peter had to have achieved something or have been effective for a short instance, and I think getting Ralph to fully believe in himself, Peter as a friend, and keep fighting was his achievement.
