Project Rise Revised

Ok so we are doing a thing guys we are 👏 DOING 👏 A 👏 THING.

I have been gathering headcanons and studying the cut content for Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for a month or so since I finally finished the series. I've got a long list of observations, ideas, and canon details confirmed by the producers but not explicitly shown in the series and I'm finally feeling like I'm ready to start this thing.

So! What's this project?

It's essentially an attempt to rewrite the entire second half of Season 2 and Season 3 to fit with what the writers originally planned for the series before corners were cut and they had to abandon it (above image). But it's not just a rewrite: It's a rewrite in SCRIPT FORM. This means many things:

Each episode should be about the length of eleven to twelve pages, which is the same constraints the ROTTMNT writing crew worked under to ensure the action scenes had time to shine.

It will not be written like a typical fanfiction but rather like a play. Character names followed by dialogue, with brief descriptions of any action intended to take place.

While still hopefully emulating the spirit of Rise's fantastic fight scene animations, most areas of intense animation will be only briefly described and left up to the imagination of the readers.

The movie will be retconned out of existence and its plot would instead take place throughout the runtime of the Season 3 episodes.

Episodes that we already have the name or plot for will be smoothed out and polished and carefully put back together.

Great effort will be made to include amy and all things that the writers originally intended to have in the show. (For example, Ron Corcillo said in a tweet that there would have been more April and Sunita girl's night episodes, and that Casey Sr. might have developed a dynamic with them and been included in those outings.)

Huge emphasis on emulating the spirit of the show, including keeping a focus on platonic relationships, highlighting the positive parts of brotherhood, and cartoon chaos.

The finished product should look something like this actual script of a cut episode:

Anywho, it's going to be a long process, especially getting through the process of reconstructing episodes. BUT. I AM MOTIVATED. AND I AM MOTIVATED TO ACCEPT HELP. THIS IS MY MOTIVATED FACE.

So! What's first? First thing is I'm going to be going down the list and painstakingly piecing together a summary for the episodes we have a name for but no information about. After that we will focus on creating and naming the ten episodes that would have taken place between Karai's return and her death. After that we will start blocking out an idea of what Season three would have looked like, and once we have a list of episodes, summaries and all, the writing process begins.

For the record I am PERFECTLY okay with just getting to that point where we have episode names and a summary of what happens in those episodes and if no one is interested in assisting and that's all I'm able to complete, y'know, it's alright. But my ultimate goal is to get an actual script written of this hypothetical alternate universe series. Cause it IS an alternate universe; after all, in our universe the show was cut :(

So... Yeah. I'm not an artist and I see all the amazing artwork everyone makes and I feel like I can never live up to that standard. This won't be nearly as cool as if I had the ability to draw the episodes in ACTUAL PANELS like the Cass apocalyptic series did. Man that was some peak rise content right there. But, maybe it will be enjoyable for some folks :)

But in the meantime have a little comic that was based off of a dream I had! (I have really vivid dreams guys, sometimes it's scary but I'll leave more context of what entailed below :D) ↓

The night breeze felt great on Donnie's skin. He wasn't sure why he wanted some fresh air alone without his brothers but he was thankful for the peace and quiet. Well, save for the usual New York hustle and bustle. Car horns blaring and the usual chatter between others. Even though it was 4 am it seemed like it was midday with all the people. It is said that this is the city that never sleeps.

Donnie sighs, taking in the moon and the faint stars above. He couldn't help but smile a little; to disconnect for a little while. Between his family and his tech, although he'd never admit it out loud, he was glad to be alone. It was rare for him, but sometimes doing nothing...could be absolute bliss.

Feeling a bit antsy not working on something though he decided that he'd go for a little walk. He had his black mask to cover his mouth, his hoodie, and wore some black jeans, so as long as he kept his hood up he wouldn't get any weird looks. It occurred to him that he left his battle shell at home, but he wasn't going far, just a little jaunt, so he shrugged and hopped down into the alley that was below him. He has S.H.E.L.D.O.N. on standby anyway, in case something did happen, no matter how highly unlikely that was.

After securing his mask to the sewed on buttons on his bandana, he pulled his hoodie up and tucked his hands into his hoodie pocket. He looked around the corner so as to not bump into anyone before he joined the crowd of people, blending in. Sometimes it felt nice to blend in...to be a part of the societal norms. Donnie relaxed a bit more and pulled out his phone, scrolling through it as he walked.

CRASH!!

It came from the alley Donnie just left. And of course no one reacted to the disturbing sound and shuffles coming from the darkness. Donnie kept walking, assuming it must have been a cat or something of the sort.

"HELP!"

Donnie heard the desperate cry and faltered his next step and bumped into someone.

"Hey, watch it!" the man spit but kept on walking.

Donnie didn't give him a response and also kept walking, slowly now though. He put his phone back in his pocket.

Come on, Donnie. Just leave...

"PLEASE!!"

Donnie stops in his tracks as goosebumps spread across his skin. They sounded like they were in pain. Like they were desperate...Donnie pulls his hood down more, thinking.

Arrgh! I can't just leave!

He knew what he had to do before his mind even made up the decision. Donnie turned and ran back to the alley, easily weaving around people, his hood flying back at his speed.

I can't believe I'm doing this...

He turns the corner and sees someone on the ground, slash marks across their forearm, no doubt to try and block the attacker. Blood was dripping down onto the dirty alley floor, mixing with old newspapers and trash. It didn't escape Donnie that he didn't have his battle shell, but he didn't have to necessarily fight. He just needed to get them out of there.

He hurriedly grabbed their arm, taking advantage of the fact that the attacker hadn't noticed him yet, and pulled them up, ready to jet out of there into the crowd where they could take cover.

"LET GO!!"

They pulled their arm back and fell against the wall roughly. His moment of surprise was gone and the attacker was aware of him now.

"Hey! I'm trying to help you!" Donnie growls under his breath. The person lying on the ground looked up in surprise.

The attacker didn't say a word as he backhanded Donnie in the face with so much power and force that he flew to the brick wall behind him, and without his battle shell, the impact was excruciating. Donnie let out a rough yell and fell to the ground. He immediately pulled up his sleeve and called for S.H.E.L.D.O.N. to alert his brothers and to send him his battle shell.

He stood up and held his hand out to the person, standing up but wincing at the pain that came from his shell and the dull ache on his cheek. He couldn't tell how bad the damage was to his shell, but the pain was manageable for now.

"If you're done wasting my time, I suggest we RUN!"

The whole thing was from a third person perspective which was weird. Usually my dreams are first person. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this little snippet of the comic and dream. I appreciate you all and I hope you have a blessed day! ✝️

Hello everyone! I'm writing this because I've locked my fics on AO3, due to a GenAI scrap of AO3. Most of my works are sadly affected, and have thus gotten stolen, except for like the newest two. @morriganfey has locked hers down too, and some others may too in the future.

If you want to read my works, whether new ones or old ones, you should get an AO3 account! I promise it makes things much easier!

If you're a writer on AO3, you might want to take a look at this Reddit post, see if any of your works are affected

This is a problem regardless of fandom or anything. If your fics weren't locked down already, and they fall between a certain number of ids, then it got stolen.

Now I've tagged this with mostly my own fics and the fandoms I've been posting fics in, but I've also tagged some Anti-AI tags and some tags relating to AO3, so hopefully a couple more people will see it too.

It'd be great if people could reblog this. Because regardless of fandom, this is a problem for everyone, both for artists and for writers

To this day I will ALWAYS love this movie and style of animation. Everything is so beautiful and the story is sublime. It's sad to say that Disney just doesn't do it like this anymore.
