headcanon: because it’s sinday…

shiro is a homoromantic sex-repulsed ace. this isn’t something that he hides, and it’s something that he makes sure his partners are aware of — he’s had relationships where it felt like he was disappointing a partner for getting uncomfortable as intimate moments escalate, and it sucks. he tells partners up front that sex just isn’t something he can offer.

he can, however, grow more comfortable with some things over time and exposure with someone. actual intercourse is still incredibly unlikely but, for example, over the course of his relationship with adam he became comfortable with sleeping naked together, with some certain more intimate touches, and with spreading kisses ( and bites ) across different parts of the body.

if suitably comfortable with someone and given understanding and patience, it isn’t impossible that he could one day be comfortable with ( and enjoy ) getting a partner off/having a partner getting him off with hands. oral is more of a stretch, anything that involves insertion is where he struggles the most as far as comfort, but there is some potential for him to grow more comfortable with certain aspects of sex.

                                                                   “ stay quiet, ”

demand given in assurance they don’t SPOOK their target , a young DOE who is already frightened ENOUGH— taking CAUTION in his footsteps , dox travels slowly closer , hands raised to present NO HARM as feet carry him to the fallen deer ; she lies upon the ground with a WOUND across her side , hunters already DEALT WITH before they could claim their victim——

near enough , the shaman eases into a kneel , one palm coming to stroke along soft fur , SHUSHING the creature as she makes pitiful whimpers ; 

                                                      “ hello , sweetheart ; it’s me. ”

CARETAKER — the shaman is known to the beasts in his forest , & while the doe’s flinching doesn’t HALT , her shudders at least appear to LESSEN.  with gentle COOS he further endeavors to calm her , providing positive ASSURANCES as he continues to stroke her pelt ; & while he does so , a GLOW emanates from his palm , source of LIFE channeled into her in order to seal her injury.

                       glancing back to shiro , dox beckons him nearer ;

                                           “ the salve - come apply it , like i taught you. ”

  order followed, shiro REMAINS in place and silent as he watches as dox deescalates the situation, doing what he can to calm the injured doe and assure her that she’s safe now. he’s seen this sort of thing before, but shiro still can’t help but to watch in awe as the shaman works, so caught up in it that he nearly JUMPS when word is finally addressed to him once more.

     “ ---right. ”

hurrying over, the boy pulls a jar from the satchel slung over his shoulder and lowers carefully to his knees upon reaching the other two. in the past, his mere presence had been one which FRIGHTENED the creatures of the woods  ---  werewolves are not so beloved by humans nor animals  ---  but fortunately, he had been able to prove himself to them through good deeds and little rescue missions not unlike this one.

now, they almost consider him one of their own.

jar seal removed, shiro dips in his fingers and brings the thick salve over the injury the doe has sustained. just as dox taught him, he begins the application; carefully, gently, he spreads the ointment, all the while sharing his OWN calming aura with the deer.

     “ she’s still SHAKEN by what happened, but she’s already thanking you, ”  he notes quietly, eyes unmoving from his work.  “ ---like this, right? ”

     “ no, that’s not-- it isn’t-- ...it’s not like that, exactly. ”

  it IS definitely something he never wanted to have to explain to anyone, though. OR have to admit out loud. the way he stumbles over his words makes this all the more evident.

     “ it’s not... --we’re not dating, ”  he tries to explain, hands raised in front of him, gesturing VAGUELY, almost like he’s trying to put the words together with his hands. lips purse for a tick, and shiro scratches the back of his head, looking away from katie. cheeks now a warm shade of red, he stares off into the distance like somehow he’ll find a way to get out of this conversation.

     “ it’s complicated. ”  but DEFINITELY gross. he knows that, and he doesn’t blame her for seeing it that way. he would, however, prefer if she kept her voice down so the ENTIRE CASTLE doesn’t hear.  “ ...please don’t tell anyone else. ”

Worst feeling in the world is knowing you did the best you could, and it still wasn’t good enough.

  at that, he can’t help but snort a weak laugh. it’s not the most REASSURING way to word such a thing, but the fact that it earns amusement might actually make it MORE USEFUL.

     “ i think you need to spend less time with dox, ”  he comments, shifting his position on the couch where they both sit, legs bent at the knees and feet occasionally touching on the middle cushion.  “ you’re starting to SOUND like him. ”

in this case though, shiro doesn’t mind it so much. he minds even less that d.va is HERE, keeping him company on one of the days where his symptoms are flaring up enough that the pain is TOO MUCH for even stand up for long. her company is some which he’s already come to enjoy, but on days like this... the distraction of having another person around helps a LOT.

     “ ‘ that vague future tense, ’ huh, ”  he repeats, tugging on the blanket spread across the both of them in an effort to cover more of himself. there’s no malice whatsoever in his tone as he continues, merely a WRY smile to signify he’s joking, albeit rather darkly;  “ so, the day that everyone in the city GETS ALONG and the barrier is opened? ”
