Solitaire, a vigilante, jumps through the sky. She appears to be at the pinnacle of her jump - specifically a backflip, and has her arms outstretched like wings. There is a feeling of serenity, bolstered by the early evening clouds; glowing amber below the still-blue sky. There are birds in the distance. Solitaire's expression is calm and pleasant, her teeth showing through her smiling lips.

Alt ver + backstory under cut!

Hi there! :D

Same as above, but several cards with her signature Ace of Spades logo are seen across the image. [one obstructs her face, the others vary in size to suggest distance]

This is actually my spidersona (I created her almost a whole year ago???????? after watching across the spiderverse ofc) but I've been really in my batman feels lately so I've decided to ctrl+c ctrl+v and now she's a DC vigilante with a huge crush on Nightwing even tho he's like 33 and she's 19. He likes her in a "that's a baby!" way bc she's a circus kid, though.

Her OG backstory was almost like,,, perfectly translatable into the DCU HAHAHAH circus kid orphan becomes a vigilante bc she gets saved by a hot guy? Eaaaasy to transfer the data

I'll drop her (adapted) lore here but don't feel like u have to read it,,,, I just suddenly wanted to draw her tonighttttttttt I want her to be in the batman universe so I can make her hang out with Tim HAHA

Charlotte (12) and her brother (Jordan, 10) are orphans, their parents lost to a sizeable villain event just over a year ago. Growing up in Crime Alley doesn't exactly scream "getting saved", so they fall through the cracks and do what they can to survive together, pickpocketing and scamming to the best of their abilities to stay alive, healthy, and fed.

One day, the circus comes to town, and Charlotte sees her opening; event-goers aren't that conscious of the money they're spending, and if they see a pair of cute kids just a few pennies short of a candy apple, more than just a few someones are sure to be good Samaritans and hand their cash over willingly. And if they take some extra, nobody is even going to notice.

This goes well for a few days, but Charlotte knows security is noticing their consistent visits. She knows she shouldn't be too paranoid; there are plenty of people who like the circus enough to visit every day when it's in. Plenty. But those people enter the tent.

So, to avoid rousing further suspicion, she uses their raised funds to buy herself and Jordan tickets to the show. The tent is hot, and the air is somewhat stuffy, but she puts her discomfort aside as a staff member ushers them both to the front, claiming that, 'children deserve the best seats in the house.' She may as well try to enjoy it.

Over the hours spent watching the show, each performer flashier and brighter than the last, all performing such incredible, daring, impossible feats, Charlotte can feel her heart thumping. And with a gaze to her side, it's clear in Jordan's eyes that she has to do something big to ensure this day stays warm in his memory.

And if her little brother loves the circus, she's going to show him the circus.

"It's fine, it's fine, we'll be in and out!" She proclaims in a loud whisper, as they sneak into the dressing room of the act he liked most - the magician, The Grand Magister, Eric. If he's not there, maybe they can even snoop around for cash or valuable's he's left around. But, most importantly, Jordan gets the back stage tour.

Sure enough, the room, now lock-picked, is empty, save for shimmering trinkets and opulent decoration. "Why don't you look around?" She offers, confident enough to get them both out quickly. Jordan lights up, heading for the desk, rummaging around the stage-makeup and props left untidily upon it. And as he does that, Charlotte looks around for something to steal. Or at least, something that might contain something to steal.

As she's filing through his more valuable things, they hear whistling in the hallway. Charlotte tenses, looking toward Jordan, whose eyes are already fixed on her. Awaiting command. Is it him? No time to find out.

She gestures to the costume rack, and he's quick to follow the instruction, diving between the clothes. She's just as quick to join him, scrambling into the cloth, holding her breath as the door pushes open.

"Did I leave it unlocked?" Asks a deep voice, confused. Charlotte winces. He'd better leave soon. She can feel Jordan's hand reaching for hers, and she curls her fingers up in reciprocation.

For a good few minutes, it's silent. The magician cleans off his stage makeup and removes his overcoat and hat. As Charlotte begins to worry that she might have to shut her eyes for a really long and embarrassing ten minutes, he gets up to lock the door behind him.

"Alright," He hums. "I can't make you two stand there so loudly for even a moment longer." His hands rest on his hips. "I was hoping you'd have at least shuffled or coughed by now, but looks like I have to call you out."

Charlotte pales. He knew.

"So, come out and say hi, kids. Don't worry, I'm not angry." He reassures, setting back down in his chair. "I'm Eric. Yourselves?"

They don't answer, privy to the dangers they may walk into if they do.

"Oh!" He proclaims, in a dramatic voice, "I do so love talking to myself! Not strange at all! I'm just a loon, it seems!"

Charlotte's teeth grit. No way does he really know. If they stay here, hidden, like this, they'll be safe. Surely. He'll realise he's being weird, nobody is there, and he'll leave.

But Jordan breaks his cover, voice meekly asking, "h..how did you know we're here?" His hand clings firmly to hers as he asks, his intrigue getting the best of him.

"Well, obviously, I'm magic." He leans his head into one hand. "I also know you're little thieves who stole your way into the circus today."

This day could not get worse, Charlotte thinks. She can't even calculate an escape, the door is the only entrance she can see, and they can't run out into the open, or they risk him lunging for them before they can unlock it and get out.

"Really? We- we're not bad thieves, though!" Jordan calls, and Eric laughs softly.

"I believe you. But would you please exit the costume rack?" His voice suggests a tinge of impatience. "I really am not angry with you. Please."

"You promise?"

"On my magician's honour."

Jordan steps out, letting go of Charlotte's hand in the process. "I think she'd like to stay there," Jordan defends, his voice gentle, "She's scared she's in trouble."

"Well, I can understand her apprehension." He shrugs it off, with a sigh. "I'll make the assumption she's the lockpick?" His question receives a nod far too quickly for Charlotte's liking. "And don't think you're off the hook, pretty little kid with the big old eyes, swindling the adults without breaking a sweat."

"Um..." He looks down. "We aren't bad people."

The room is quiet for a few moments. Eric exhales softly.

"No, I don't think a pair of children would be doing something like this for no reason. So please," He leans back, showing no hint of a defensive position. Unguarded. "If you would enlighten me as to why, I'd appreciate it."

Jordan doesn't speak this time, opting to look to his elder. Charlotte frowns. Of course she has to tell him. "I.. it's private." She utters.

"And the mysterious thief speaks!" He teases, with all the bravado of a showman. It's just as soon shirked from his person. "Look, kid. I know where we are right now. This area of Gotham.. I know it's a pretty nasty place. Tell me whatever you're comfortable telling me."

"I..if I do.. you have to tell us how you knew we stole money to get tickets first. I.. know it's not a magic trick." She contests. He grimaces, but nods in agreement.

"Sleight of hand is a skill anyone can learn, but not a skill anyone can master. Yet here we are, a pair of twin children sighted day after day, performing their own circus acts to an impossibly successful standard, and not only that, but leaving their victims with smiles on their faces." He shakes his head. "If you ask me, your talents are wasted on the street, and I'm getting to the age where I need a protégé - or two - so it just so happens that, if perhaps you were a pair of Crime Alley orphans in need of a guardian, you might just be in luck."

Charlotte looks to Jordan, who isn't sure what to say either. "Can.. we think about it?" She asks. "I don't like that you guessed we're orphans."

"Sorry, part of my act is recognising aspects of a person in order to mystify them, like guessing someone has a cat by the bright orange fur likely stuck to their clothes." He winks. "Go on, I won't interrogate you further. But, if you're caught swindling on the grounds again, security won't let you go." He swivels in his chair to face the mirror. "And please, just knock at the door next time you visit."

Charlotte doesn't have to be told twice, taking her brother quickly out, away from the circus grounds. Back to the place they recently have named 'home.'

She spends the night lying awake with her brother, unsure of this Running Away With The Circus cliché. It's surely too good to be true. Eric must be a villain, seeking a child army to take over Gotham, or maybe he's trying to steal their organs to stay young forever, or... whatever he might be doing, no way is anyone just that nice. And yet.

"I think he was being honest, Lot.." Jordan utters, "It might be a good chance for us.. to get out of here." He hopes she can't tell how badly he wants to go.

Charlotte sighs. She knows exactly what he really feels. It's written all over his face. He wants a family again. And he's not wrong to want one, either, even though any choice they make about this is wrought with danger.

"Alright... tomorrow we'll.. ask if he meant it." She nods. "For you, Jord."

"For both of us." He perks up.

This is either about to be the worst week of their lives, or the turning point for better days. As she shuts her eyes, Charlotte entertains the hope that it just might be.

So the first day of the ceasefire ends.

The mood is bittersweet. There's celebration:

But so much destruction:

'Bring down buildings! Bomb without distinction... Flatten Gaza' - Knesset member (Likud), Oct 23

This is what's left of my home, and I can't lie just when I thought that I have moved past the heartbreak of losing home, the pics broke my heart even more.
Never wanted to see it that way and I always want to remember it just as beautiful as it was. pic.twitter.com/7ihNUKNS5q

So many dead :

My wife’s family have been digging through the rubble to retrieve the corpses of 15 relatives who have been buried under their bombed house since last October.
Of them are my wife’s three cousins, one of these cousins has been buried with her two children.

It took me a whole day searching for a hopeful photo of me in Gaza, to share today, celebrating the ceasefire. And I found this one, me and my friend Ahmed happy with a group of children.
Ahmed is gone, the photographer Yihya is gone. But our faith is never gone. pic.twitter.com/wq7BraP8Be

I won't attach the multiple pictures of skeletons, some unidentified in the streets, some with bullet holes in the skulls left in family homes.

This is the first day of a very, very long journey, still perilous because Trump can't be trusted either. Please continue to boost Palestinians and donate to fundraisers.

Leaving you with Jehad Abu Shamala raising the call to prayer in Gaza this morning.
