I can now share the october art I contributed to the ML calendar project!

One of my goals this year was to participate in a fandom project (this is my first time! aside from secret art exchanges) so I was thrilled to be a part of this! And it’s been so lovely working with this team, thank you @mlcalendarproject for the opportunity!!

This idea is absolutely inspired, it fits so perfectly, like actually perfectly enough that I can’t see Charles’ portrait without imagining Monarch now. Wow I’m blown away

Miraculous Role Models

Marinette is the ideal that the audience is supposed to strive for. She has a loving family she spends time with, friends she cares about and who care about her, a hobby that let's her be artistic, a passion for said hobby that she hopes to make a career, high grades, participation in school as class president, and she serves her community by being a literal superhero.

Yes she has flaws, but by and large I'd argue that Marinette is THE girl the audience wants to be more like (with the assumption that all those positive things lead to a positive life)

Adrien is not only her foil, but he also teaches the audience a lesson. He is what the audience "thinks" they should strive towards. He is wealthy, famous, can speak multiple languages, does tons of extra curricular activities, is top of his class, and he comes from a powerful family

But he is absolutely miserable

He teaches the audience that while perusing those positive things is good, they shouldn't neglect everything else like friends, family, and your own interests (even though that's not his fault). I'd argue he's where the audience is right now, unsure what they want to do, maybe not having many friends, perhaps stuck in a situation they don't like, and dealing with some baggage. Thankfully he has Marinette and the rest of the cast to support him. He learns to draw closer to others who care about him and learns just how little wealth or fame or any of that stuff actually empower him to live the life he wants to

TLDR: Marinette is THE role model and Adrien is the stand in for the audience. They compliment each other perfectly and I wouldn't have it any other way

While it wouldn't have fixed everything I think that it would've made FAR more sense if you switched Kagami being a senti with Chloé being a senti in season 5

This is the first time I've ever posted fanfiction! Read the summary for "Ladybug and the Bee" below!

After seeing it with her own eyes, Chloé comes to the crushing realization that her idol and hero Ladybug has been none other than Marinette Dupain-Cheng. How will Chloé confront the unsettling fact that she'd been unknowingly bullying the very person who had been repeatedly saving her? This story explores what a redemption arc for Chloé could've looked liked as she seeks to turn over a new leaf and slowly become friends with Marinette.

This story is set before the season 3 finale as I believe Marinette and the gang had much more goodwill for Chloé around that time. Above is the first chapter of three with the second coming out very soon. Hope you check it out and enjoy!

Malediktator firmly planted the idea of a Chloé redemption arc in my head. Probably part of the reason I wrote "Ladybug and the Bee" and rewatching it really reminded me that dang, they really had something going there huh?

I love their dynamic in this episode so much. Only with Ladybug does Chloé finally open up and I believe her and Marinette could've eventually had a relationship that strengthened both of them. Rip in peace Chloé redemption arc

Authors may never know just how much their works affect us and there’s something tragic about that. Thank you to all the writers, please keep your work up, it means more to people than you know.

I get so incredibly emotional about fanfiction. many a time have I wept about the passage of time—dear 2018 fic that had the authors note etchings that you were in grad school: I hope writing this made midterms more bearable, or at least that one night. thank you for writing my favorite character or ship, it’s comforting to know that I have a friend across time that had the same rot, the same afflictions, the same ideas when experiencing this media. 

dear fanfiction from my adolescence, that made me realize I still had worth outside of conventional creative writing classes. that I was still a writer, even in the dark, even alone. thank you for influencing me in so many ways unbeknownst to you. 

I get emotional about the “missing” parts in an unfinished series—what was in your head, ao3 user? your dreams and hopes and ideas? Or, what about chapter ten, which has triple the amount of comments due to your plot twist. what was that like in the timeline of your life? or, what was it like when you happened to only get one comment on chapter 1? 

the rarepair authors that I’ll never connect with because they moved on: thank you for still leaving it up. 

it’s just. cosmic to me to open these fics from 2,5,10 years ago and see where the author was at, to see where fandom was at, to see anything at all so human!!

I can comment, I can kudos and bookmark, but there’s no obligation for them to write back. I’m just thinking about the passage of time and the idea that we can connect in so many ways!

What would you think if Chloe and Audrey heard rumours about the way they were going to be portrayed in Astruc’s new movie, so they went back to Paris in an unsuccessful attempt to stop the movie from being completed? Then an evilized villain (maybe a wishmaker-like villain or maybe even a villain that's unrelated to the butterfly miraculous) caused Chloe and Zoe to switch bodies somehow, and nobody fully understands what's going on, so Zoe (in Chloe's body) is taken by Audrey back to New York, despite Zoe desperately trying to explain things. But Chloe enters a fugue state (heavily due to trauma caused by the neglect of her parents) and genuinely thinks she's Zoe, and is even able to recall many of the things Zoe did due to being in Zoe's body. The class thinks “Zoe's” change in behavior is due to the psychological effects of method acting, since “Zoe” is playing Chloe in Astruc's new movie, but they gradually convince “Zoe” to let them help her relearn how to be “herself” again.

Zoe is not able to gain access to Chloe's memories while in Chloe's body, because unlike Chloe, Zoe knows she's in the wrong body. In New York, Zoe is trying to get back to Paris, but when she gets there, “Zoe” thinks she’s there to try to hurt Marinette. Eventually, after listening to “Chloe”, Marinette starts to suspect that “Chloe” might be telling the truth, so she decides that she must test “Chloe” and “Zoe”. She fakes being in danger to see how they react. “Zoe” reacts slightly faster than “Chloe”, so Marinette comes to the conclusion that “Chloe” is lying and that “Chloe” has an evil and manipulative plan. Marinette thinks that “Chloe” must have picked up a few tricks from Lila, because she thinks no version of Chloe could possibly react faster than Zoe when it comes to protecting her. So Audrey takes “Zoe” back to New York again to “correct” her after “Zoe” fails to convince anyone of the truth.

10 years later, “Zoe” gets seriously injured after fighting a villain when Ladybug isn’t around, which causes “Zoe” to not have long to live. Then Ladybug accidentally stumbles upon the truth about “Zoe” while trying to help “Zoe” using magical powers. Ladybug decides that the moral thing to do is to switch Chloe and Zoe back to their original bodies. Once Zoe gets her body back, she blames Chloe for her impending death and for leaving her with 10 years of loneliness, while Chloe got off scot-free. When Lila gets defeated, Zoe steals the Butterfly Miraculous to get her hands on Ladybug and Catnoir’s miraculouses, hoping to “make things right”. Zoe gets defeated by the heroes (including Chloe, who has gotten her memories back) and Ladybug manages to cure Zoe’s injuries.

I think that is a really interesting fanfic premise. It could start out silly and sweet like freaky Friday but overtime get a bit more grim and angsty. If I were adding my own spice I'd make it so that Chloe "with Zoe's mind" tries and gets help from Adrien who realizes something is wrong but pitches the idea to everyone that she is just "reformed" because that's easier to digest. Then you could play with Zoe "with Chloe's mind" returning to Paris, only to see most everyone accepting the new Chloe which makes new Zoe terribly mad, maybe enough to give up the act.

Personally I'm a sappy sucker who doesn't like writing sad endings so I'd try and find a way for them to both make peace with their crazy situation and once they do they'd trade bodies then (magic is weird).
