It was a wonderful day in Seoul and Danny was an awful person. And if it happened that Eugene was on the receiving side of him choosing violence that day, well it was simply bad luck~
It started with him coming into Eugene's office out of nowhere with an obviously fake neon green mustache and a box of spiders, which was promptly yeeted at the president and shattered all over his desk. A sharp high-pitched scream had his men tumbling into the office before they took a look at the little black devils skittering everywhere and booked it out without another backward glance.
It took almost three hours until they finally managed to get rid of all the spiders and shards and coax the mini evil-doer down from the chandelier. The spawn of chaos that was Danny had long since escaped the building, leaving behind only his fluffy green mustache attached to a cardboard cutout of one of their female streamers.
Eugene was displeased but chalked it up as a one-off thing, a sort of petty revenge from a man who could do nothing more to him. Oh, how wrong he was.
After the spiders came the baby crocodiles with lightsabers strapped to their backs. That was an ordeal that left the teen president quite paranoid since it had taken place in his personal apartment.
The third attempt wasn't stopped by his quadrupled security nor their new fancy gear. After all, Daniel was a one-man army, stupid electric fences and radars were no match for the ungodly amount of caffeine and pure spite that fueled his revenge. Judging by the screams and colorful curses, Eugene and him were on the same page.
Another terrorizing attempt successfully completed, Danny pulled out his list and checked another item off. Unfortunately, despite being useful for the drip, his makeshift batman mask was a bit hard to see through, so he had to take it off to read the next item on the list.
"Hmmm, okay, let's see... Spiders? Check. Baby alligators with light sabers? Check. Possessed Michael Jackson Animatronics? Check. I think I have time for one more before the loop ends...let's see..."
ghosts of all the bugs he's ever killed crawling on his skin? Nah, too tame.
waking up at a furry convention? I think the loop will reset before I have time to wait for this year's furry convention.
injecting him with truth serum before a fancy gala? Too much political drama, and too little chaos.
Daniel paused at the last one, a shark-like smirk overcoming his features.
"This...Heh...This is going to be good...Hehehehe MUAHAHAHHA-"
"Can you knock it off!" His neighbor reinforced his words by knocking on their shared wall rather forcefully.
"Sorry!" Came the boy's sheepish reply.
Even evil masterminds have to be mindful of their manners when committing atrocities, he nodded to himself before returning to the task at hand with an impish smile. He set out to gather his army.
The next day at 9 AM sharp the Worker's main building was invaded by an army of angry middle-aged women, armed with various household appliances, all claiming that the young businessman had seduced their daughters.
"He promised to marry my Lia!" A lady wielding a portable vacuum cleaner shouted indignantly at the poor receptionist, underlining each word with a menacing thump of her weapon onto the counter.
"He already proposed to my daughter!" Another woman chimed in waving a mighty frying pan with a murderous expression.
"Mine's pregnant with his baby!" Came the enraged shouting of another.
"My-"
"He-"
The crowd erupted into outrage, screaming even louder than before and banging onto the walls and floor while trying to speak over one another. Another outrageous comment, another wave of shouting and banging, until the whole street and every employee in the building had stopped to watch the chaos.
Daniel's muffled giggles were abruptly cut off when he felt the telltale tug on his soul that came with every reset.
"No wait, I didn't get to see the aftermath!" He whined, but to no avail.
"At least I get to try out the rest of my ideas in the next loop." He shrugged, downing the remaining chips in the bag.
Daniel wasn't born invincible, although most people wouldn't be able to tell you that. Even in the first loop, he had first crawled through the filth before reaching the top. But it hadn't been enough. This is why, in every loop after that one, for at least a few dozen of them he had approached people like Gun, Goo, and Diego to teach him. Some were harder to convince than others and some would downright refuse to teach him until he found a way to prove to them he was worthy. He had to do things that he didn't dare to remember some days.
He remembered the first time he was made to kill.
His second loop, Gun had been much crueler than he usually was. He made his two masterpieces fight to the death, just for the sake of it. Daniel orphaned a little girl that day. He couldn't bare to look in the mirror for weeks, but he pushed on. He needed to be stronger! So, the boy-turned-killer gritted his teeth and force-fed himself sleeping pills every night.
The second time he killed it came much easier.
Perhaps because he was still reeling from the first one. It was only a few weeks after Eli's blood had covered his hands that another lay before him with his neck broken. It had been so easy it was gut-churning, like breaking a particularly tough twig. He emptied the contents of his stomach in a bush nearby, but couldn't find it in himself to regret it very much. It was horrifying to realize he regretted getting caught and ending up in juvie more than killing Zoe's stalker.
The third time's the charm, right? It wasn't.
That night he stumbled into a bar and drank himself into obliviousness to forget the feeling of a too-small boy beneath the tips of his fingers. He had killed a kid, not much younger than himself, a year at maximum, but a kid! The feeling of bile rising in his throat hadn't left him for the entire loop. When he woke up he was in a cell, with policemen looking down at him with a mix of disgust and horror. They regarded him as a monster, and Daniel deserved it. It didn't take long to get a confession out of him and back to juvie he went. It didn't matter, the phantom touch lingering whenever he clutched his fist was still there.
When the fourth came he still cried.
By the time of the fifth, he lost his appetite completely.
The sixth came with mandatory visits to the therapist's office.
The seventh brought on a new therapist and sturdier cuffs.
It helped, incredibly. There was no more killing in that loop, and the couple that followed.
The eight was accidental, and it left Daniel screaming and crying, and vomiting hysterically. He wasn't locked up for that one, but he somehow found his way back to the therapist's office. The first one he tried had left him with a bitter taste on his tongue. The second one knew exactly which buttons to push. It was a miracle Daniel didn't end up with a ninth corpse to the ever-growing pile attached to his name.
Finally, after a lot of breakdowns and unhelpful psychologists, Danny ended up meeting a nice lady by the name of Robin Lim, who managed, with an amount of ungodly patience and calm, to get through to him. It wasn't a sudden catharsis that left him feeling the office a thousand tons lighter, but it was like the steady flow of a stream, growing quicker and bigger every day until he could finally breathe without feeling like he was choking on air.
Robin remained Daniel's therapist for over eight loops until he finally came to terms with what he had and most likely would again do. He managed to establish a system of what to do when it happened again and how to manage his inner turmoil so that it didn't spill into something dangerous, either for himself or others.
While the looping had the effect of twisting his morals to the extreme sometimes, Daniel was always careful to keep a grip on his emotions and try to use the techniques Robin had taught him to regulate those that could become a threat. It wasn't perfect (the seemingly, only imperfect thing about him now), but it worked and it made him view the world in another light.
It was both surprising and not that he now understood Jinho, to a certain level. He knew what it felt like to be given a ray of light and not manage to cling to it no matter how hard he struggled. He had been pathetic and weak and selfish in a way that made him both better and so much worse than the scrawny boy. Better because he had learned from it and strived to make himself the best possible version despite his worries, insecurities, paranoia, and tilted moral compass. Worse because, unlike Jinho, he had succeeded and killed people to further his own selfish goals.
At the end of the day, the imperfect-perfect boy remained a human, one who struggled and hurt and cried. As long as he kept a tight leash on the part of him that could make others struggle and hurt and cry (and even worse) he kept going, trying to find a way to end the cycle and keep the people he loved safe.
Even if that meant entire loops-worth of counseling and breakdowns, he would do it. For those he cherished? Anything.
Gun: Danny is playing hard to get. Gun: Little does he know, I'm a master at playing hard to get rid of.
With so many loop Danny is bound to forget his love for Jay.
That's where the beauty in all of this lies.
Whenever he forgets he just falls in love again. He may not be in a relationship with Jay for a couple of loops, but ultimately his heart never stops yearning for him. Danny always comes back, and Jay is always there for him, waiting with his arms open like he always does.
It can appear suffocating from an outsider's perspective, but he's never quite wanted anyone like he does the silent blonde. He's had relationships with others, and he's hooked up with almost everybody in his circle at one point or another, but it isn't the same. If anything, it only makes him crave deeper to return to those warm arms, to place his face in Jay's neck and hover over the skin of his neck, never sure if he wants to sink his teeth into the appetizing curve or cover it with sweet kisses.
He knows his love in a way that brings him a sense of stability and tranquility which the loops have robbed him of. He knows the sound of his heart even without placing his ear to the boy's chest. He has counted and kissed and loved each and every single beauty mark on his milky skin, and he could tell you where each and every one of them lies with his eyes closed. He knows how the constellations on his skin are his greatest insecurity, but he loves each and every star more than the sun itself.
Daniel doesn't always remember his love, but he never forgets how their bodies fit together like a puzzle as if each piece had been solely created for the other. He may not recall all the nights they have spent together under the moonlight, all the kisses they shared, and all the perils they've faced side by side but his heart never wavers in its demands. He allows himself to fall deeper and deeper, but never allows the darkness to taint such a precious bond. Not this one! Never this one!
He always falls for him. Sometimes he acts goofy in his love, making grand gestures that turn out unbearably corny because he knows they make Jay smile. Other times they just share the sort of quiet love that has them waking up in each other's arms in the morning, that has Danny simply waiting for his beloved to arise so he could pepper him with kisses and cuddle with him the entire day. Then, they love with passion and share their bed each sleepless night, and the time looper tries to etch into his memory each centimeter of his sweetheart. He never can preserve these memories, he simply isn't built like that, but he tries, oh, how he tries to never forget...His Jay never faults him for it...even though he wished he would sometimes.
No matter what shape their affection takes, be it a slowly smoldering coal or a passionate and wild flame they always somehow end up in each other's embrace, even if only by accident. And they always fall for each other, no matter how many eons have passed since they first did so. If Daniel weren't so selfish he would perhaps let go of him, but the truth is he is greedy...so...so...greedy...
This is kinda how I imagine female Danny. Thoughts?
I'm just imagining Daniel and Vin Jin getting into a fight over whatever hot people fight over these days and subsequently appearing on the news. The headlines would def be like:
Danny: *Kicks the door down looking panicked* Zack: What did you do? Danny: Nobody died. Zack: WHAT KIND OF ANSWER IS THAT?!
The end of the world came just before daybreak, during the 'blue hour' when nature held its breath for a split second one last time and then the sky cracked open and fell down upon us like shards of glass
too few lived to see daybreak
fewer made it past the gates opening
less than a quarter of the world's population made it to the safe haven that was Bloodrock in time for departure
half of the ones left perished during the trip
the human race had almost been wiped out in its entirety in less than half a day
more would follow
that was the undeniable truth of the matter
we all knew it
I could see it on the faces of the other passengers, the morbid acceptance, the grim resignation for what was to come, but beneath all the grime, blood, and dust on their skin I could see hope. hope that humanity will live past this, that we will survive and eventually we would once again thrive
finger clutched tightly in prayer we huddled around and formed a sort of half circle looking out one of the windows of Bloodrock
I felt a spark of determination rush through me so fiercely that it sent shivers down my back and made my hairs stand on their end
we would survive!
and we would learn from this so that our children and our children's children would not repeat our mistakes
then we would come back and reclaim what had been taken from us with a furious vengeance no other race in the known universe could ever possess
WE. WOULD. THRIVE.
Danny: Don’t worry, I have a few knives up my sleeve. Vasco: I think you mean cards. Danny, pulling knives out of his sleeves: No, I do not.
I saw that you wrote a drabble on my ask and I loved it. It was so well written and Taehoon's personality really carried through.
I do have another idea for a time loop and it does involve Taehoon again, but also with Johan and Daniel.
It would probably take place at about the end of the God Dog arc where Johan is abandoned and fighting Gun.
Little Daniel is there (but y'know, like tall, buff , post training, etc.) and he's seen Johan at the taekwondojang here and there and he knows that Taehoon has mentally adopted Johan. So he subtly makes a call during the fight.
Just as Gun is about to knock Johan and Zack down after Zack shows up to help, Gun gets kicked in the face. Again.
After this, I guess the 2 of them would fight and Yeonwoo, and Dowoon (who tagged along to see who the guys who's been flirting with fighting Taehoon is) and they take Johan to the van. Johan gets promptly adopted by Seong Hansoo.
Meanwhile, everyone wants to know who this pretty gremlin is who's fighting Gun and has Gun smiling. even thoguh he's scolding him. - especially when he finds out about Johan's situation
Vasco : Johan's brother is still flirting with his boyfriend. Who knew Johan had a brother?
Zach :*confused*
Daniel : grinning because he's about to cause mayhem
Jiksae : filming in the background
Well, this also turned out a bit long haha.
Achievement Unlocked!
Child Acquired!
Hansoo looked down upon the two similar boys, one of which was his, and resisted the urge to pinch the smaller's cheeks. That was a feat in of itself, since Johan still retained a small portion of his baby fat, making his cheeks look extra-pinchable.
That was it, he was adopting him. And if he came with an adorable dog, who was he to separate them?!
Johan fit seamlessly into their little family. He was baby, after all, and both Taehoon and Hansoo adored him. They never really stopped babying him, but knew he had his own life and let him do his own thing most of the time. All in all, things were peaceful.
Then came the phone call.
Tae was hanging out with 'daddy issues #1' and 'daddy issues #2' when his phone began ringing incessantly. Annoyed, and having half the mind to just tell the person on the other side to fuck off he picked up.
"Taehoon" Danny's hurried tone sounded through the speaker before the brown-haired boy could even open his mouth, "Uh, you need to come here. Johan's in trouble!"
No other words were needed, Tae hung up and began sprinting toward the location of his brother's phone. That had been one of the conditions of letting him continue on with God Dog, that he would keep his location visible to them at all times and call if he needed help. The last part was near impossible for the proud boy, which is why both he and his father had insisted on the location bit.
The taekwondo prodigy skidded to a stop before the scene that greeted him, Yeonwoo and Dowoon panting a little behind him. His eyes zeroed in on Johan's fallen body laying on the bloodied concrete, before shifting onto the man looking down upon him with his hands in his pockets.
"Oh no, you don't!" He mumbled, rushing towards him.
Gun felt a sudden sense of dread wash over him before his face made contact with the asphalt, hard. Deja vu was one of the only things registering in his mind before he got his bearings back. He turned to look at the attacker, a large smirk stretching on his lips as he caught sight of the familiar mop of brown hair.
"Taehoon~" He practically purred, dodging an incoming kick.
"Satan's secret lovechild." The boy replied deadpan, socking him in the face.
"It's so nice to see you again."
"Can't say the same." His tone didn't change despite Gun's sultry voice.
The two continued exchanging hits while the others watched. It didn't look like they were going to be slowing down anytime soon, so they were content with just watching the show. Yeonwoo and Dowoon in particular were egging them on while simultaneously fighting over ship names. Daniel was nursing the two childhood friends' wounds the best he could while sneaking glances at the two fighters. He didn't want to miss anything important, but Zack and Johan were still bleeding and he had to deal with them first. Nonetheless, he secretly joined Dowoon and Yeonwoo in cheering for the brunette once the two began showing signs of waking up.
"Gunhoon!"
"Taegun!"
"Gunhoon!"
"Taegoon!"
"What the hell is going on?"
They paused their bickering turning to the now-awake dog-lover and gave him a shrug before resuming their conversation.
"They're fighting over ship names," Danny informed him, slipping over to check on the still-sleeping boxer before facing Johan again. "You might as well get comfortable. Something tells me they're going to be at it for a while."
The boy nodded dumbfounded, before leaning back down next to Zack. He was out like a light, causing Danny to coo and take pictures of him sleeping. He was sure Taehoon was going to thank him for them later, and it would probably be enough to bribe him to go easier on him during training. Daniel could only hope.
