came back wrong trope but the character knows that they came back wrong. they’re so acutely aware of how different they are now from how they were before that it drives them fucking insane. they’re stuck trying to return to somebody that’s long dead. they can never be the person they once were. everybody around them knows it. deep down, they know it too, but they’re trapped in a cycle of their own making. of trying to revive someone that no longer exists.
Words cannot describe how much I adore this drabble!
Mama Shaw comparing Lukard’s compatibility to Rattie and Rowen, Owen defending his boyfriend’s honor with “he’s funny”, Letty being the only one in the crew who’s acceptable, the crew being absolutely hopeless, Mama Shaw nagging about her kids needing more training, Deckard being the only one of his siblings who’s still sharp, Owen whining, Owen and Hattie protecting their lovable yet vulnerable partners, THE REALIZATION THAT THE SHAW SIBS HAVE GONE SOFT BECAUSE OF THE TORETTO CREW AND THEIR PARTNERS!!!
Asdfghjkl I love this so much! Thank you Omni! 💞💞💞
Hello again Omni! And happy Friday! I got an idea: what if Mama Shaw tagged along on a Nobody mission? Imagine: her critiquing everything her kids do, complaining about the team, and judging her children's partners.
Hello again friend! Sorry for the later response, I had to plan out some lesson plans with my teaching group
This is such a fun idea!! Mama Shaw would be her kids' ultimate critic!

Narrowing her eyes, Queenie Shaw watched from above as Toretto's crew worked to take down the small army of goons that were trying to keep them from their chosen target
The man was an international hacker who had fled the country when he stole top secret information
Mixed in the crowd, she could see her three children all fighting
Owen looked far too gleeful as he kept goons away from his little boyfriend, Pearce. Owen fought off the men and women with abandon as Pearce tried to throw a punch or two at the people who rarely got through Owen's guard
Meanwhile, Hattie was off in the corner, protecting Ramsey as she had a hacking battle with their target. She seemed full immersed in her computer battle while Hattie never once left her side
But it was Deckard and Luke at the center of the fighting that caught Queenie's eye
The two men worked off each other spectacularly
Back to back, they protected each other and traded weapons when needed. It was almost as if they were reading each other's minds as they went through enemy after enemy
Queenie was immensely proud of her children, but they would need improvements. They had all seemed to become a bit sloppy when fighting
She would need to have have train properly with a master she chose
Viewing the crew they were fighting alongside of, Queenie could see why they were getting sloppy
None or Toretto's crew knew how to fight. Even though Ortiz had obvious training, it was a mix of different arts. Maybe she could convince the younger woman to join her children's training
But the rest of the crew was hopeless in Queenie's eyes
Why her children even stuck with the crew was beyond her comprehension
Shaking her head, Queenie left them to their fight. She needed a strong cuppa
---
"Mum, we don't need more training!" Owen whined
They were back at Nowhere, sitting across their mother in a room she had commandeered. None of Nobody's agents had gone against the Shaw matriarch
"With what I saw today, you need it." She said firmly
Deckard sighed
He thought they were past their mother managing them
"We're fine mum." He tried to convince her
"You are still on top of your game, Dex, but your siblings need a refresher. And you know they won't learn if you're not there."
"Oi!" Hattie hissed. "My fighting skills are perfectly fine!"
"Trust me, you need more." Queenie sniffed and then pointed her cup at both Owen and Hattie. "And we need to discuss your partners."
"What?" Owen's voice dropped dangerously
"Don't you start." Queenie warned. "Hatts, your Ramsey is a smart tart, but she needs to learn how to protect herself while hacking. You can do it, so can she. And Oh. Why are you with that bloke? Hes more bark than bite!"
"He's funny." Owen mumbled, not wanting to admit anything about Roman's fighting style
"Jokes aren't going to save his hide in a fight. You should be with someone who can have you back, like Hobbs has Dex's."
Deckard glanced over at Owen and could visibly see his little brother's anger boiling over
Sighing once again, Deckard stood to make more tea
They would need it

I hope you enjoyed friend!
I cannot thank @katlynne-lyons enough for this stunning commission! This is absolutely beautiful and captures Deckard's character perfectly!
Make sure to go check out the artist's blog and artwork!
I always headcanon Deckard likes to wear dresses and feeling fancy. It doesn't matter if he's wearing a suit or dress, he'll kick your ass regardless!

I love the legitimate fear in his eyes here.
It's less that he's shaken by the fact that he almost died, and more by the fact that he would have died a hero. A man willing to die for the justice of the denizens of Hell, believing in the friends he has to carry out the mission. And it's THAT fact, that possibility that his reputation would have been RUINED if not for pure dumb luck on his part, scares him. He would have been fine dying, he wouldn't give a shit if it was in the blaze of glory. But the fact that he would have died a HERO is what scares him more.
THAT'S how you write a good villain.
yea im just going to get into it
Harry Potter: Overall good books. They do have plotholes and lack representation, but have a great fandom that makes up for it. A great intro to magic and fantasy for the younger end of the YA spectrum.
Overall verdict: ignore the cursed child and you’ll be fine
The Hunger Games: I thought these were really interesting books. They deal with political themes that are really important to be aware of. After reading these books I would sit in class and figure out how I would kill all of my classmates in our own hunger games.
Overall verdict: heck yeck
The Fault in Our Stars: Pretentious and kind of hard to read, but not that bad. Pretty basic and predictable but still entertaining. The Anne Frank kiss was yikes.
Overall verdict: each to their own. read some reviews before picking it up
Twilight: Not as bad as everyone says it is, but still pretty bad. Really creepy and also pretty damn racist. Has some interesting side characters. I never read past the first book so I don’t know that much.
Overall verdict: there are better books to spend your time on
The Mortal Instruments: Not outrageously bad, but not Oscar worthy. It’s kind of just there. Characters are pretty cliché, and some very unnerving themes are included, the YA Game of Thrones when it comes to incest.
Overall verdict: Read her other series; they’re much better.
Divergent: fun enough. the first book is the best. very confusing and full of plot holes. not that memorable tbh.
Overall verdict: just read the hunger games
13 Reasons Why:
Overall verdict: don’t
The Maze Runner: the first book is decent. it’s an interesting concept and an entertaining read. beware of an overabundance of boys.
Overall verdict: go ahead, just don’t touch the sequels
Six of Crows: world can be a bit confusing at first if you haven’t read the grisha trilogy, but you pick it up pretty quickly. well developed characters, world, and plot.
Overall verdict: hell yeah
Throne of Glass: starts off pretty basic, but decent. gets less decent as it progresses. beware barfing, toxic masculinity, graphic sex, and killing of minorities.
Overall verdict: i genuinely have no idea what demographic this series is for
Red Queen: more into the political aspect, not that much action. glass sword is the low point. improves a lot in the last two books. iffy lgbt rep. Maven Calore carries the entire series on his back.
Overall verdict: it’s not for everyone, but give it a fair try
The Lunar Chronicles: pretty enjoyable. i like the twists on the fairytales. the characters work well together and carry the *pretty simple* plot well. beware possible racism? idk i don’t really remember i was like eleven.
Overall verdict: yeah sure why not.
Anything by Rick Riordan: i haven’t read his more recent stuff (think past heroes of Olympus), but i’ve heard good things. the books are fun, and overall really good. i think they’re meant for a younger demographic but i’m not entirely sure.
Overall verdict: please at least read percy’s retellings of greek mythology
A Court of Thorns and Roses: T H I S I S N O T Y A
‘I thought you and Tony were still gazing into each other’s eyes.’
"You're not the only one with a family full of eccentrics," says the woman whose kids drove a tank down a highway, trashed Los Angeles, and tried to strangle Luke Hobbs with their thighs.
God, I'm gonna love Helen Mirren's cameo.
Ahhh this is so cute!!!! Thank you Pogue!!!!

I've been having AU thoughts <3 I was thinking of a fic where Jakob gets de-aged (due to maybe Eteon shenanigans?) and he's a teenager when the team find him. De-aging is usually not a trope I'm into, but I feel like it could really put Dom and Jakob through some serious angst, since Dom would have to raise Jakob, and Dom would have to deal with the baby version of Jakob who he used to be so angry with. I could see Jakob calling Dom "dad" by accident when he first sees him, and Dom is just </3
I absolutely love De aged fics! I’ve written a few actually and I love adding Jakob to the mix! Especially when it gets so angst since he’s the same age when Dom kicked him out!
Walking through the halls of Eteon, Ramsey shivered as she peered into several rooms and saw several operating tables surrounded by machines she’s never even seen before. Ahead of her, Roman was leading them through the halls and hopefully towards the main server rooms Eteon had. They needed as much info on Eteon as they could get their hands on.
When Deckard and Luke had told them about Eteon, they had both been extremely tight lipped about the organization and insisted they handle them while the crew sat on the sidelines. Of course, none of them had taken that well and had followed the two to one of the bases.
So far, Ramsey just wanted to turn around and run. The place seemed abandoned, but there was so much evidence of what they were getting up to. She couldn’t believe that a secret army was forming without anyone knowing about it. And as they walked past several rooms that looked like cells, she shivered as images of what they were doing on those operating tables.
She was so lost in her thoughts, she almost didn’t notice a dark figure huddled in the corner of one of the cells. But, before they could keep going, she saw the figure hunch even more on itself.
“Roman!” Ramsey hissed and grabbed his arm. “Stop!”
“What?!” Roman snapped back and Ramsey could see just how uneasy he felt being there. She couldn’t blame him honestly.
“There’s someone here!” “Then leave them alone!” Roman blurted out. “They’ll get themselves out.”
Ramsey rolled her eyes. How was someone supposed to get themselves out of a prison cell?
Walking away, she approached the cell and peered inside. She couldn’t see much other than the figure curled up into a ball and pushed as far into the corner as possible.
“Hello?” She called out gently and saw the figure’s head snap up. “Are you alright? Do you need help?”
Watching, Ramsey waited for the person to respond and after a long moment, they spoke up.
In Spanish.
“Shit.” Ramsey cursed and looked over at Roman, who had walked up next to her. “Do you understand him?”
“Uh. Kinda? I only know a little bit from where I grew up.”
Ramsey listened as Roman called out very rough Spanish even she knew was only halfway correct. But, that seemed to be enough to encourage the person to uncurl and stand up. As he walked closer to him, Ramsey’s eyes widened.
A young teenager was standing in the middle of the cell, the lights barely casting on him as he shifted from one foot to another in nervousness. He was eyeing them with distrust and wariness.
“You sound like an idiot.” The boy mumbled in English.
“Hey! I haven’t spoken Spanish in years! I think I sounded good.” Roman snapped and pouted.
“Ignore him.” Ramsey smiled at the boy. “Do you need help? The people who were here have left.”
The boy frowned at her but after glancing around the cell, he finally nodded.
--
Getting the teenager, Jakob, out of the base was fairly easy. Other than his snarky remarks that he constantly threw at Roman. While they were funny, Ramsey didn’t enjoy having to soothe Roman’s hurt ego afterwards. But, she was still worried about why Jakob was even there. What had Eteon been doing to the teenager.
Sitting in the backseat with him, she kept a simple conversation going when she saw how nervous Jakob was becoming. He didn’t seem to recognize many of the things around them, mostly the cars and technology. Ramsey was becoming more and more concerned about what had happened to the boy.
Finally, Roman parked them up next to the rest of the crew at their rendezvous point. She could see the rest of the crew waiting for them and knew they would be willing to help Jakob. She sent him a smile before getting out.
“Come on, these are really nice people. They’re like family to me.”
Jakob only nodded and followed her.
“About time you guys showed up!” Tej called out to them.
“Yeah, well, we found a stray!” Roman shouted back. And with that, all eyes were on Ramsey and Jakob. Placing a hand on Jakob’s shoulder, she led him closer to the crew. She immediately noticed the look of horror on Dom and Letty’s face.
“Jakob?” Letty breathed out.
Everyone else was quiet as they looked between the teenager and Letty.
“How does she know my name?” Jakob whispered to Ramsey, who could only shake her head. She had no idea.
“This isn’t possible.” Letty continued and took a tentative step towards them. Ramsey could feel Jakob stiffen next to her. “How did this happen?”
“What are you talking about?” Ramsey spoke up.
“He shouldn’t be like this.” Letty whispered, coming even closer to them. When she finally stopped in front of Jakob, she looked up and down.
“Look, lady,” Jakob grunted. “I don’t know who you are and I’m as sure as hell not who you think I am.”
“Are you saying you really don’t remember me?” Letty smirked slightly. “The person who watched you every school night to make sure you actually did you homework? Or the one who taught you how to make tortillas?”
Ramsey frowned. What was Letty talking about?
“No… that can’t be.” Glancing over, Ramsey saw that Jakob had gone pale. What was going on? “You- you can’t be her.”
“I am.” Letty smiled sadly.
“No, Letty was only a few years older than me.”
What?!
Ramsey could see equal confusion on everyone else’s faces. How did he know Letty? And a few years older than him?
“That’s her.”
Ramsey stared up at Dom, who finally spoke up, even if his voice was gruff and a storm was slowly forming over his face. She had only seen that look in his eyes a handful of times. What was going on?! “What- dad?”
Letty gasped, while Dom’s face dropped and he looked close to fainting.
“Wait, Dom, do you have another kid we didn’t know about?” Roman spoke up.
“No!” Dom shouted harshly. “That’s my brother!”
Brother? Ramsey looked over at Jakob and blinked.
The kid was a perfect match for the other Toretto. Even if he was a few decades younger.
But how did he end up here?
