This is him as a lil kid :D I think that he would be interested in bugs. Like how in cannon Stanford has a moth collection. Instead Fiddleford in my D11B AU would have the bug collections. Mostly as a child however as when he got older time started to slip away from him.

I've got an idea for a new au! How about in the Reverse Portal au, Stan comes out feral. And the first thing he does when he comes back through is cling to Ford and never wants to leave his side. Could you do a prompt of when he came through the portal and him saving Ford from a dangerous creature in GF, hugs insured?

(I assumed this was a prompt so I just wrote a quick little thing, but feel free to add more if anyone wants to! Just tag me so I can find it cause oh man I want more of this AU, but I’ve already got so much going on)

“Stanley…?” Ford was hesitant to speak to his brother, knowing just how unpredictable and wild he was now. Thirty years lost in other dimensions had turned him into a terrified wild animal. Stan had spent the last few days locked in the spare room downstairs, only coming out for something to eat or to use the bathroom. Ford had tried to get him to take a shower at one point but quickly gave up after his brother snarled at him while Ford tried to remove his filthy coat.

Stan jumped a little and whirled around to lash out until he realised it was just his brother behind him and that Ford was standing well out of reach. “What?” He replied a little too harshly, his hands curled into fists.

“I, er, I was j-just making the lunch. Do you want anything in particular?”

“What is there?”

“Er…w-well… anything you like, really.” Ford scratched the back of his neck. “There’s like half a pizza left from the other night, or I can cook you something fresh, or I can make you sandwiches.”Stan seemed to relax only a little, keeping one hand balled into a tight fist at his side. “Pizza sounds good.”

“Alright,” Ford nodded. “You, er, you want to eat here or in the kitchen?”Stan glanced around, his eyes darting about as if chasing a fast-moving insect. “In here.”“Okay,” Ford said softly. “I’ll be back in a little while when the pizza’s warmed up, okay?” Without waiting for a response, he quickly retreated out of his brother’s space and shut the door quietly, heading back into the kitchen. “Grunkle Ford?” Dipper asked quietly, sitting at the table and reading through Ford’s second journal again. “Is Great Uncle Stanley okay?”Ford sighed, running a hand through his hair before sitting at the table beside his nephew. “I don’t know, Dipper. He’s acting very agitated and won’t let me get anywhere near him.”“He almost hit Mabel earlier,” Dipper said quietly, setting the journal down. “She went to bring him a sweater she’d made him, and he almost punched her in the face. She ran out and shut the door. She was crying.”Ford sighed, putting an elbow on the table and propping his chin up in his hand. “He’s … look, he was never like this when we were kids. Something must have happened to him between him getting lost in the portal and him coming back. I suppose the ten years prior to him arriving here would have had an effect on him as well, but he wasn’t as bad as he is now.”

“He’ll be okay, though, right?”“With some care and some reconditioning, he should be alright, yes,” Ford nodded. “I just don’t know how long that’s going to take. Until then, we just have to be careful not to spook him.”Dipper nodded, before reaching over and giving one of Ford’s hands a tight squeeze. “He’ll be okay, Grunkle Ford, I promise.”Ford smiled a little, squeezing Dipper’s hand in return and lifting the boy’s hat off to ruffle his hair lightly. “I know, kiddo. Thanks.”Dipper grinned and giggled a little at the affectionate gesture, adjusting his cap after Ford replaced it. Ford grinned and went to put the remaining half of the pizza into the oven to heat up. Mabel entered the room once the smell of the pizza had reached the twins’ bedroom. “Mmmm, are we finishing the pizza already? I want some!”Ford chuckled and rolled his eyes. “I’m afraid not, pumpkin. It’s for Stan. He hasn’t eaten all day and honestly, by the look of him, he needs to eat.”“You said Grunkle Stan used to be fat.” Mabel giggled as she sat on the table near her brother.

“He certainly was when we were teenagers,” Ford sighed softly. “But I reckon that ten years of being on the run and thirty years of going through whatever he did when he was knocked into the portal has definitely made him lose that weight.” He sighed again and glanced away. It was his fault his brother was this way. He’d knocked Stan into the portal and it was his fault that his brother was so skittish. There was nobody to blame but himself for Stan’s condition, and Ford knew it.

“Grunkle Ford?” Mabel frowned.

“Sorry, dear,” Ford shook his head and forced a smile back onto his face, though both kids could see that it was empty and strained. “I’m just worried, that’s all.”“So are we,” Dipper said softly. “But we’re gonna help him, right?”“Of course we are,” Ford nodded with a smile as he got the pizza from the oven and checked to see if it was hot enough. Satisfied with the temperature, he cut it into slices and loaded it onto a plate before taking it to his brother.

He knocked on the door as softly as he could. “Stanley?”The door swung open abruptly, revealing his brother staring at him with a defensive expression. Ford swallowed thickly and handed Stan the plate. “Pizza’s done.”“Oh, thanks, Stanford,” Stan replied raptly as he took the plate from his brother’s hands and retreated back into his room, shutting the door in Ford’s face. Ford let out a sigh and pressed his back against the wall by his brother’s door, before sinking to the floor. He ran a hand through his hair. Stan was acting like a nervous wild animal and honestly, Ford was scared. Not necessarily scared of Stan, per se, but more scared that his brother might not recover. That Stan would be stuck like this for years and years until one day his nervousness and feral tendencies led to his death.

Ford pulled his knees to his chest and rested his head on them as he listened to the sounds of his brother eating. Stan was wolfing the food down ravenously as if, if he left alone for longer than a few minutes, it would vanish and he wouldn’t be fed again. It was heartbreaking to listen to. Ford took a deep breath and made a resolution to himself to help his brother with this. He was going to help Stan get through this if it was the last thing he did. It was the only way he’d ever be able to make up for what he did to his brother in the first place. It was his fault that Stan was like this and it was his responsibility to put it right.

(their dynamic in nutshell, basically.)

This is partially based on bereavement hallucinations disorder (it is not nessesary for a person to be "passed" to fall under such diagnosis. but considering how on other side of the portal Stan didn't even knew if his brother is alive in there - name still works.)

Realistically speaking - those kind of hallucinations are a response to an overwhelming emotions, a coping mechanism & form of isolation formed desperation.

Stan is so desperate to fix the portal, to get his brother back/fix this mistake that mind will willingly make it seem like everything is alright.

You supress your emotions because you got more important things to focus on? Oh trust me they will find the way out.

Now a question: then why are they in a form of children?

Childhood represents innocence, unconditional love, and a time when they were truly happy together. Subconscious will always choose this form because it literally offers protection, allowing to mentally escape into the past rather than face the unbearable present. After all, Stans character is about partially clinging to the past while Ford was one that wanted to move forward. (i am not talking about Ford holding grudges from the past like a dead dog he is, no)

Seeking comfort in purest and safest version of your brother, one that never looked at you wrong, one that never pulled the curtains on you when you asked for help....... Sounds right to me.
