Evening Musings of a Dreaming Jet

It was a quiet evening on the Nemesis; with its crew winding down for the night in preparation for the next day’s events, Dynamo had taken the opportunity to go to bed, drifting off to dreamland. He recharged more often than he really needed to, having a preferred sleep schedule not unlike a human’s, despite his lacking the need to sleep that frequently. But it was a good way to pass the time, especially when he’s bored. 

A few hours go by, and Starscream walks by his charge’s door during his usual patrolling of the halls. As he passes by his audials pick up a hushed mumbling sound muffled by the wall, just barely detectable. Starscream raises his optic ridges in interest at this development, and he cautiously opens the door to Dynamo’s quarters to check on his son. 

The whoosh of the door opening threatens to awaken the young bot, but thankfully he does not stir, however continues to mumble. The commander creeps towards Dy’s berth as quietly as he can manage, so as not to disturb him given his sensitivity to sound. 

When first viewing the young jet, it would simply appear that he is asleep; but upon closer inspection, Starscream notes that upon Dynamo’s face is a look of disdain.

“No, no no.” mutters Dy. At this, Starscream’s features soften, as it appears as though the child is having a nightmare. Just as the seeker moves closer to the youngling, he stops as Dynamo speaks again.

“No, that's too much pudding. I don’t like pudding.” With that, the commander’s face contorts into a slight grimace. Starscream shudders at the thought of whatever pudding could be, but it was probably a human item. At that, the seeker turns on his heel and silently walks away. He’s almost halfway back to the door when a whimper stops him in his tracks. He turns back to his son’s berth to see the young jet curl into a tighter position, his face scrunched up in distress.

“Dad… where are you?” he cries. Hearing this, Starscream walks back to his charge’s berth. He gently places a clawed servo on Dynamo’s back, and softly caresses the young bot’s back plating. Dy’s frame noticeably relaxes from the touch, and his field has a much calmer energy. After waiting there a moment in case Dy speaks again, Stars retracts his servo from the sleeping form in front of him at the lack of sound aside from Dynamo’s breathing.

Satisfied, Starscream leaves his son’s side, and as carefully as he entered, exits the room. The next morning Dynamo trots up to Stars, who is standing in a hallway with an energon cube.

“Good morning Dad.” Dy cheerfully chirps. Starscream turns to look at him.

“Morning Dynamo. Are you aware that you talk while you recharge?” He asks. Dy’s finials flick as he ponders the question.

“No, I don’t think so. Did I say something weird?”

“You did mention ‘pudding’, whatever that is, but not much else of note.” says Starscream, returning to his breakfast. Dynamo nods, and wanders off, thinking about what trouble he’d get into today.

This was told to me by my good friend Henry, and I had to draw it.

Sparkling! Dy was watching bugs when a big ass moth landed on his nose. He began to baby panic bc new experience, when KO told him to not move or the bug would kill him as a joke. This only made the baby panic even more, crying for Stars.

Starscream showed up and literally shoved KO down a hill to get to Dy.
