GB!Fenix and Hollis

-another (shorter) little piece of writing that i made -3-, fluffy <3

Fenix had grown more comfortable with Hollis over the course of a few months, and with time the stone cold maiden began to let the fiery girl into their room with little to no fight. She sat there now, perked on the couch in a relaxed manner, leaning back and finishing a puzzle on newspaper.

“Jeez.. this is really all Holly has for entertainment.. alright.. there’s a T-.. O.. but if the C goes there then it can’t be cottage.. mmm..” a pencil was held between her nose and puckered upper lip, the lax girl tinking quite hard with squinted eyes. Suddenly the detective walked through the door and closed it quickly, locking it. They slammed the curtains shut and stormed around out of Fenix’s view. Before she could get up and ask what the matter was Hollis had huffed their way into the room and sat beside their friend.

“Hey Holly.. rough day..?” She attempted at small talk with fail. The newspaper was set aside and she leaned onto her leg, closer to Hollis. “What happened?”

They stared with minimal relief, only sighing and pulling her into a hug. “..It’s only getting more dangerous everyday, my job is to make these things easier yet it’s like the harder i try.. the worse things get..” They crumpled up in Fenix’s arms, afraid.

She blinked hard, thinking deeply about this. Never did she imagine she’d be in the comforting position of the two, but seeing them afraid made them feel less rich and more human. She rubbed their back and hummed in acknowledgment, “You’re right about that, it gets harder the more you try.. thats part of growth, if it doesn’t get harder how will you get better? The problems won’t just sit there and let you deal with them they’ll try, meaning you’ll have to try extra hard to deal with them.” She lifted their chin, caressing their cheek softly. “I know you can deal with those stupid criminals and convicts, they’re all in the wrong and as long as you stay right you will win.. it’s a little childish i know, but sometimes we may need that.”

They took her words at more than face value, tears stinging their eyes gently but not enough to fall. “Yes.. Thank you for that..” They looked down again, sniffling and seeming to melt onto her soft chest. She looked away, a gentle blush dusted on her cheeks before she pulled them into an even deeper hug. Their arms were wrapped around her torso and they leaned back, the crybaby detective cuddling sleepily into her.

Relaxed, she smirked and sighed. “Drama queen.. sleep well..”

Despite not being awake to hear her they slept very well in that moment, the best they had in a while.
