Playing Creatures of Ava has made me wonder what the heck "creature collector" even is as a genre. Ava uses a research system very similar to Pokémon Legends Arceus, but otherwise has little to no RPG mechanics and certainly no team building. Does creature collector as a genre apply to non-RPGs? Palworld, as I understand it, is not an RPG. Is that a creature collector? It is certainly marketed like one.

Is Pokémon Ranger a creature collector? You (temporarily) recruit creatures and make a team out of them.

Is Bugsnax a creature collector? You literally collect creatures but you don't make a team out of them, you just feed them to people.

What constitutes collecting creatures? Does Pokémon Snap, a game about collecting photos of creatures, count?

Zoo Tycoon? Metroid Prime??

Good news, fellow artists! Nightshade has finally been released by the UChicago team! If you aren't aware of what Nightshade is, it's a tool that helps poison AI datasets so that the model "sees" something different from what an image actually depicts. It's the same team that released Glaze, which helps protect art against style mimicry (aka those finetuned models that try to rip off a specific artist). As they show in their paper, even a hundred poisoned concepts make a huge difference.

(Reminder that glazing your art is more important than nighshading it, as they mention in their tweets above, so when you're uploading your art, try to glaze it at the very least.)

little bastard creature from a dream/nightmare i had, where it had the ability to "paint" you into the 4th dimension, except your eyes still couldn't see into said dimension so it just looked like you were being cut into or falling apart. If you refused it would scream and chase you like a hound from hell, and it was impossible to escape. If you know SCP-096, it was that minus the death since I woke up before it caught up.

what made it a nightmare is that despite my fear of being chased, my dreams always repeat over and over to "get the best version" of it :(

imagining riku's parents get sora his own mattress to set up on the floor(they try to get him a bed frame too but he refuses, he can just hide under riku's bed after all :]) and he turns it into a mountain of blankets and pillows to burrow into ❤️

or alternatively, he creates a blanket and pillow den under riku's bed so now he's safe from prying eyes AND comfy :D

rediscovered your monster sora au and i have been having so many thoughts about it since, especially after reading the fics.

which makes me have to wonder "what is his living situation like later on?", like do sora and riku live together? does sora stay hiding from everyone else? do riku's parents learn about him? do any of the other children learn about him?

sorry for rambling i'm just absolutely in love with the concept. (very tempted to write something of this au >_>)

So, eventually Riku’s parents find out. And once they get over the shock of discovering what is essentially an alien in their son’s room, Sora becomes part of the family. He sleeps in Riku’s room <3

I’m still not sure if the rest of the island would ever find out (it would have to be after Kairi arrives), but Kairi definitely does (as Riku and Sora’s little kid brains are like “she’s also from another world maybe she knows Sora’s?”) and I think a friend of Riku’s mom finds out too? (With her being what would have been Sora’s mom if he wasn’t a monster. And she finds out cuz Sora gets super sick at one point and she’s like, a doctor or something)

And then eventually it just starts up with kh1

was listening to 36 questions and when the song "for the record" played i got these two vibes from it, especially "Tonight's 36 reasons why you and I cannot be healthy for each other"

wanted to draw oni with his normal hairstyle and not looking like he's feral, but still unsure what type of clothes to put him in so he's just wearing a night shirt that's way too big for him

hopefully i managed to make his hair look similar enough but still unique
