He was grinning slyly, and his eyes were twinkling with mischief as he pulled his lock pick set from his pocket and expertly unlocked the doors of the looming building. Part of you regretted telling him of this specific fantasy a few nights ago as you shared a bottle of whiskey and watched the sun rise after a case the two of you had solved. 

   He had produced the said bottle and a thick, woven blanket as he pulled up to the empty field and put the Impala in park.

Secret Marriage

Request from @a-woman-with-claws-and-fangs Derek and the reader have hid their marriage for years. Until one day Alex tried to flirt with her. The reader brushes him off before Derek tells the whole hospital.

"Well this is where we part as husband and wife Dr. Shepherd." I say laying my head on his shoulder. He lifts my chin up gently kissing me outside the hospital doors one last time. "Don't worry I'll see you later Mrs. Shepherd." Derek and I chose to keep our marriage out of the hospital only being professional at work. The only people who know about us are Mark and Richard the chief of Seattle Graice. Luckily I still see my husband quite often since we work in the same medical field. Mark always joked that we would end up together when we all were friends as kids until Derek stopped talking to him when he slept with his first wife Addison.

Pulling my hair up in a ponytail I scan the surgery board for my upcoming appointments until someone clears their throat beside me. My eyes noticed it's Alex Karev, one of Bailey's new interns. "So Y/n how about getting a few drinks with me tonight?" He suggested a smirk on his face. Alex was a good intern and if he just listened to Addison he'd realize he actually belongs in peds working with kids. Putting my hands in my coat pockets I spin on my feet heading to do rounds. "Sorry Karev I'm busy tonight." But he doesn't give up when he wants something.

"Come on Y/n you're a beautiful girl who deserves a night of fun." He rounds to stand beside me as a nurse hands me a chart. Thankfully Derek said we'd hide our wedding rings as necklaces around our necks when we're at work. He puts a hand over mine making me turn to face him trying to brush him off. "Like I said I'm busy. Now if you'll excuse me I have work to do as do you." I try to step away but he gently grabbed my wrist spinning me around so our noses touched. But before anything else can happen someone punches him in the nose. Alex grabs his nose slightly bleeding looking up at me.

People start entering the room wanting to see what is going on. Finally my gaze sees Derek flicking his hurting hand around his eyes showing anger. "Derek, why'd you do-" He cuts me off with a deep kiss his hands cupping my face until he broke away. Pulling me into his side his left arm still around my waist. "Stay the hell away from my wife, Karev." He huffs as the chief comes down the stairs seeing blood on his floor and on his friends right hand. "Somebody help him up and you two in my office now!" He points his index finger at us. Great job Derek.

"Somebody better start talking right now. Explain why one of my residents is punching an intern!" Richard slams his hands on his desk as I see George and Izzie help Alex off the floor. Everyone else slowly leaves the medical floor going back to work. Mark enters the room smirking at his friend. "Damn, I thought I was the only one you could punch like that." He chuckled until I eyed him with an annoyed look. "Richard I would like to point out I tried to avoid violence unlike my husband..." I cross my arms over my chest eyeing my husband who holds an ice pack to his right hand.

Derek looks to our boss finally saying something a slight smirk on his face. "Karev was flirting with Y/n. I did what any good husband should do and handle it." Richard eyes me then Derek asking. "Did you hit him hard?" Derek nodded before the chief nods to leave us alone. "Good but no more fighting on my surgery floor." Mark pats him on the back leaving as well. Looking up at my husband I glare at him I snipped. "Promise me no more hitting interns that try and flirt with me." He plants a kiss to my forehead smiling. "I promise sweetheart." He leans down kissing me softly and I kiss back going to work. Everyone knows I'm his wife now.
