Hey Henry, what are your thoughts on north nodes? It seems like such an important part of ones chart, but I never see anyone post about it on tumblr đ¤ Did I get this right-ish?; south node = past life, comfort-zone (mine is in pisces and 1st, so ego, escapism and self sacrificing behaviour) and north node = current life, destiny (?), new and uncomfortable situations that one has to experience (virgo in 7th, being organized and focusing on relationships, having a stable relationship). Thanks!
I think that the nodes are blown a little out of proportion in modern astrology. If we take things back to basics, however, I think that they can bear a lot of rich fruit. Consider the fact that the nodes are the places where the path of the Moon intersects the Solar ecliptic. At a very basic level we have the uniting of the Solar and Lunar selves here (similar to the Sun/Moon midpoint). Your active and passive natures are at one here. Your needs and wants align, and thatâs why it can feel so powerful to prioritize the nodes when it comes to examining âlife purposeâ.Â
That being said, however, I personally take the Vedic (Jyotish) route when it comes to the nodes. I think that the North Node implies material increase, but a special kind of obsessiveness and spiritual drain, whereas the South Node implies material decrease, a special kind of apathy, and spiritual gain. Itâs unhealthy to spend too much time at either end of the axis (this is true for every axis in astrology so itâs a bizarre thing to me that modern astrologers always tout the North Node as some sort of ultimate chart feature), and the ultimate manifestation would be one that is balanced. On one end you see the archetypal billionaire, who constantly craves more and more and yet is never satisfied, whereas on the other end you have a starving monk, who by releasing everything and giving to others attains the ultimate fulfillment and yet may not be able to (actually) feed himself. Both energies are necessary for a practical life, but taken to extremes they can become dangerous.
From a technical standpoint I use the adage that the North Node amplifies what it touches (and thus is a good match for the benefics) and the South Node dissipates what it touches (and thus is a good match for the malefics).
Functionally I think that we can see increase where the North Node is transiting and meaning where the South Node is.
The big difference between Ariesâ egotism and Leoâs egotism is that Aries is full on confidence and Leoâs pride has insecurity behind it. Leos are usually looking for validation whereas Aries are quite literally full of themselves.
I love studying astrological aspects so I decided to make a guide on it! Aspects are measured angles between the planets (and ascendant + MC) that have influence on you. They can also be off by a few degrees, this is called an orb and the smaller orb an aspect has, the stronger it is. They can be positive, negative, or neutral. Neutral aspects can either be positive or negative depending on the planets involved. There are major aspects, minor aspects, and aspect patterns. Iâll go over the first two of those in this post.
Major aspects are aspects that have a bigger significance. Major aspects areâŚ
Conjunction - This is two planets 0Ë away from one another. This is a neutral aspect. The planetâs involved energies  are brought together with this aspect so depending on the planets it could either be good or bad.
Sextile -Â This is two planets that are 60Ë away from one another. This aspect is generally positive. The energies of the planets involved inspire, encourage, and cooperate well with each other.
Square -Â This is two planets that are 90Ë away from one another. This is a negative aspect to have. The planets energies donât cooperate and they cause mutually exclusive desires and needs.
Trine - These are two planets that are 120Ë away from one another. This is a positive aspect. The planets involvedâs energies work together harmoniously, enriching one another.
Opposition - These are two planets which are 180Ë away from one another. This is generally a negative aspect but it can also be viewed as a neutral aspect, depending on the planets involved. There is tension between these planets energies but this can be motivating.
Minor aspects are aspects that have lesser significance. Minor aspects areâŚ
Semisextile - These are two planets that are 30Ë away from one another. This is a neutral aspect so it can either be positive of negative depending on the planets involved. It can symbolize that the planets involvedâs energies can cause a hard-to-discover potential.Â
Semisquare - These are two planets that are 45Ë away from one another. This is a negative aspect. The energies of the planets involved cause unapparent tension.
Quintile - This is two planets that are 72Ë away from one another. It is a positive aspect. The energies of these planets work together to unleash talent and potential They can point to purposeful uses of oneâs talent and this talent usually has to do with art.
Sesquisquare - These two planets are 135Ë away from one another. This is a negative aspect. These two planetary energies cause conflict and tension just like the square except this tension is easier to suppress⌠making it harder to learn from.
Biquintile - These two planets are 144Ë away from one another. This is a positive aspect. These planets energies are very good for artistic areas. Although people are generally only vaguely aware of the energy from this aspect.
Quincunx/Inconjunct - These two planets are 150Ë away from one another. This is a neutral aspect and arguably the most important of the minor aspects. It give potential that is difficult to release and adjust to.
Well, I hope this helped someone understand aspects better! Feel free to drop any questions you have into my ask box!! Also, please inform me if you would like me to make a post on aspect patterns.

Dark, cold and whipped by supersonic winds, Neptune is the last of the hydrogen and helium gas giants in our solar system. More than 30 times as far from the sun as Earth, the planet takes almost 165 Earth years to orbit our sun! In fact, in 2011, Neptune completed its first orbit since its discovery in 1846.
Here are a few things you might not know about the windiest planet:
If the sun were as tall as a typical front door, the Earth would be the size of a nickel and Neptune would be about as big as a baseball.
Neptune orbits our sun, a star. Neptune is the eighth planet from the sun at a distance of about 4.5 billion km (2.8 billion miles) or 30.07 AU.Â
One day on Neptune takes about 16 hours (the time it takes for Neptune to rotate or spin once)
Neptune makes a complete orbit around the sun (a year in Neptunian time) in about 165 Earth years (60,190 Earth days)
Neptune has six rings
Voyager 2 is the only spacecraft to have visited Neptune
Neptune has 13 moons. They are named after various sea gods and nymphs in Greek mythology
Did you know that Neptune has storms?
Similar to Jupiter, Neptune has storms that create gigantic spots in its atmosphereâŚwell, it did. When Voyager 2 flew past Neptune in 1989, it tracked and imaged the âGreat Dark Spotâ â a storm larger than the entire Earth! When the Hubble Space Telescope imaged Neptune the spot had disappeared, only to be replaced with two smaller storms, which in turn also disappeared.
