911 HIATUS REWATCH One Scene Per Episode - 'Merry Ex-Mas
kitchen counter kisses for @loserbuckley !
this is a prompt fill with the @911actions gotcha for gaza—the submission period has come to an end, but you can still donate to a good cause!
The fact that David Tennant could have asked for the opening skit to be all about Dr. Who (allegedly his most broadly known work and also the most recently aired) and bring Catherine Tate or any other celebrity friend as his guest star…
Yet he still chose to do it about a very niche work like Staged, prominently featuring Michael Sheen, while subjecting the entire industry (not just Britain media) to their weirdly intimate dynamic…
Just wow. Power move. They’re a set, do not separate.
Peak moment of the Episode where
Buck: you should talk to him *points up*
Eddie: God???!????
Buck: No, Bobby
In the end…..it always comes back to them ❤️
I don't often do this, because I try to avoid discourse in fandom and sometimes you just don't vibe with a character. It happens.
But I keep seeing these horrible and, quite frankly, very wrong and disrespectful takes on Eddie Diaz' character. And I can't just sit here and ignore them anymore.
I cannot and will never understand why people don't like Eddie.
I've read some posts and comments earlier about people disliking Eddie and... really? Eddie is boring? He doesn't get interesting storylines? He's just a prop for Buck and his storylines?
Are we watching the same show here?
Eddie is, by far, one of the most interesting characters on 911. The man has had one trauma after the other piled up on him, but still he keeps going. Why? Because of the one thing that matters more to him than life itself: Christopher.
As a single mother myself, I can relate. The struggle to want to give your child everything, to do everything for them, even if it comes at the cost of your own mental and emotional well-being? It is very real. I cannot tell you how many times I end up crying to myself at night, blaming myself because I wasn't able to stop the outside world from hurting my son. And you have to do it all by yourself as well. There is no one there to share the burden with, to share the heartache with. It's tough and it's real.
Eddie's storylines are intricate and nuanced and based in reality. They aren't necessarily the biggest and loudest storylines, but they still matter to people who can relate to him. People like me.
Now, 911 is guilty of showing a lot of important Eddie moments from someone else's point of view. That is true. Especially Buck's POV. The shooting comes to mind, even a part of his breakdown and more recently Eddie's friendship with Tommy. He made a bro-friend and seemed so happy and carefree, but since we saw it from Buck's POV, we can't fully trust this image.
So, I think that is why some people see him as just a prop in Buck's story. But it's much more complex than that. Buck stepped inside Eddie's world without complaint. He helped him out from day one by introducing Eddie to Carla. For the first time, Eddie is no longer alone in life. There is someone there who understands him and his love for Chris. He can safely rest and trust that Buck will be there to step in if necessary. He actually went ahead and put it in his will. Eddie loves the way that Buck loves his son. And the show is still using that bond to date. We saw Buck and Eddie in conversation about Chris, Buck talking to Chris, Buck being jealous of Chris thinking Tommy was cool...
I don't know what the future will bring for Eddie, but I desperately want and need him to be happy. And yes, I do think the narrative will eventually lead him to Buck. His happiness has always been intricatelly linked to Christopher. The way they keep weaving in Christopher in Buck's storyline? The way Eddie keeps being inserted in Buck's bisexuality storyline? These are some of the many reasons that give me absolute certainty that Buddie is in the works.
In conclusion? Just stop hating on Eddie Diaz folks. It's not a good look on you.
PLEASE DO NOT VIEW THIS AS HATE. I simply saw this tweet as i was scrolling on twitter
So the show DELIBERATELY placed each of their Ll after their names are called.
Hen=Karen, Chim= Maddie, Tommy.=Buck, Buck=Eddie, Eddie =Marisol
This is my problem with SOME
BuckTommy shippers. NOT all. We aren't the ones creating theories.. the show is literally telling us this. The fact that we are being called "fuckass fan theories" is sooo telling because what was s2-s7x04 when WE ALL had theories about buck being queer coded? Were those"fuckass fan theories" as well? The hypocrisy and the way that buddies aren't even allowed to theorize anymore just because buck is with him. the AMOUNT of theories WE ALL HAD about queer buck during bucks relationships with Ali, Taylor, Lucy, and Natalia... Why the fuck is it different now that he's with Tommy. Why do the theories suddenly have to STOP NOW?
This isn’t even about buddie anymore. This is about SOME their shippers acting like BUDDIES aren’t allowed to theorize now that buck is in a relationship with Tommy. I know they don’t ship Buck with Eddie, and that’s fine, but you mean to tell me WHILE Buck was in his any of previous relationships, you NEVER shipped him with another man from the show or had theories….. PLEASE.
Again, no hate. Just something i saw last night.
so you’re telling me that i’m supposed to be finding love in a generation where nobody says things like “you’ve bewitched me, body and soul” ??!?!?!??
TELL ME WHY CHARLIE EATING HIS SNACK IS THE CUTEST THING IVE EVER SEEN🥹🥹🥹❤️
One of the funniest shit 911 did is making Eddie the social one. He has poker nights, goes to play basketball and has tons of parent friends 'cause of Chris
Meanwhile Buck has like 5 friends all of which he works with
I honestly think that with ABC, there's a real chance that Buddie can go canon. Why? Because it would be a smart move.
Look at Chenford from the Rookie, also an ABC show. From what I've heard, they weren't supposed to be together, but they saw the love the fandom had for them. Now they're canon.
The success of Chenford, which ended up being a slow burn ship, was wild. I had never heard of the show. Suddenly, I saw Chenford and the Rookie everywhere. I started watching The Rookie because of it and I know many others did as well. People love a good, torturously slow slow-burn couple.
No but seriously. Chenford going canon blew up my twitter and tumblr. If Buddie goes canon, fandom spaces will go WILD. What better way to attract new viewers? Spread the word about the show?
Canon m/m ships- specifically couples seem to be the most popular. This is kinda unfair because f/f ships deserve just the same amount, but it is what I've noticed. Aside from Chenford, I've only seen m/m ships blow up. Canon or not. People will watch a show if they know there is a canon m/m ship they can root for. (Specifically main characters, neither Josh or Michael really got the attention they deserved)
I feel like ABC has more rep or at least dares to do more than FOX. Look, I'm not American, but where I'm from FOX has a reputation for being old-fashioned and quite against representing anyone other than a straight white male - I was surprised Lone Star was a FOX show because of how much rep it has. ABC shows tend to have more rep, sometimes casual, sometimes explicit. They do big storylines - important ones. They're not afraid to talk about serious issues. And they're not afraid to focus on queer storylines (so I have hope Henren will get another storyline this season as well
Lastly, ABC isn't afraid of fan service. They see something the fans want? They'll write it. They seem to prioritize fans more than casual viewers - as they should, because in the end the fans are what keeps a show alive. Fans are the ones spreading the word and dedicating time and love to the show and it's characters.
I'm not saying it's a guarantee, and I am prepared for disappointment. I'm just saying, I see the step to ABC as a good thing. It makes the chance of Buddie canon just a little bigger.
Also, imagine them going down that route. Teasing feelings at the start, burning over a few episodes until they go canon. It would be a good 🖕 to FOX who didn't dare to go that route and it would be a banger of a start at a new channel. They could possibly make the best seasons. What a way to make an impression.
