Yall I really don't think they were written that out of character. Nico in tsats is a lot more like he was when he was first introduced to the series, I'm sorry that he doesn't want to stay in a dehabilitative traumatized state for forever but like let the dude heal and feel some joy for once damn. Also idk why people are saying "ToA Will is so much different from Tsats Will" I fear you might be delusional. ToA Will was perceived through the rose colored lens of Apollo. Tsats is the first book that we get to peak inside his head. He is a head counselor and the head medic, of course he's going to appear cool, calm, and collected from other people's pov's. Given the whole "embracing the darkness" motif for him throughout Tsats, I don't think it's that weird for his flaws to be put on display. It's not contradictory to his character, it's deepening to our and his own understanding of himself.
Also I'm gonna need y'all to stop bashing on Mark for a minute. I really don't want to know how this book would've turned out without their input. Rick does not have the best track record with approaching more sensitive topics (ahem the blatant fatphobia with Frank and Lester- cough- the reduction of Annabeth's character as soon as she is officially in a relationship with Percy- honestly Clarrise's entire depiction throughout the series raises many concerns- cough- the rascist stereotypes sprinkled throughout the rrverse, etc etc)
I think that this could've been a lot worse if Mark weren't a part of the project. So please stop diminishing the writing to "bad fanfic". Some of you are just being unnecessarily cruel and unfair. The book has been out for literally 2 days and you weren't the target audience. Cry about it.

Read the beginning of tsats and i am loving it. Saw a lot of negative reviews for the book. Mainly about how ooc the characters are.
I am sorry but they didn't feel ooc to me at all. May I remind you that nico became the emo, brooding, traumatised character after bianca died. Before that he was a very enthusiastic, bubbly, kind, sassy child that told the minotaur to shove figurines up his a*s. Frankly I saw that nico coming back in tsats and i am loving it. He's healing and after what he has been through I want him to be as cheesy as a boyfriend as he wants to be. Almost the entire time i was just awwwing because they are so cute. And that's what my boy deserves.
About will. I think much of the problem with him is that his characterization have mainly been fan made. And in toa and other books we have been seeing him from others pov. This is the first time that we have been inside his head. And i find it relatable that someone that's described as chill will have such a Pessimisitic inside voice.
Also he's a child of apollo in the exact opposite of his domain. He's been battling death ever since he came to camp, of course he is going to be scared. And it's hell, they are in hell, it's going to effect their personalities.
The fact that will, despite being scared of death, was still able to give a healthy relationship to our nico and actually make him happy is a great credit to him.
I did find the humour cheesy. But i haven't completed the book. I have to wait till then. But up till now it's the nico story that i have been waiting for. And that's all that matters.
You are really on to something here
I'm almost positive the aggressive sexual visions Great is having is because his future self, the one flatlining in the hospital, is trying to push him towards Tyme faster. Almost everything the visions have allowed Great to correct lead him to Tyme, save lives, and more importantly, establish to Tyme that he has a much better character than the one he saw in the first timeline.
Great helps pick up the papers instead of dashing off.
Great leaves the flowers to be delivered, instead of going in the room, pressuring the woman, and taking a photo.
Great saves Dome, which will have doubtlessly allowed Tyme to overhear that Great was intervening to save a life during his argument with Title, establishing that he isn't like him. It also allowed Tyme to gauge his personality much sooner, as when he gives him stitches, he gets to see a fairly shy and quiet character, and not a mafia don.
For a character that seems to have a bone to pick with Great's family, Great getting to go back and establish he's a good person that just got in over his head feels important. I think that's why episode 2 took care to establish Tyme could fight before showing him intervening to protect Great. I think him protecting Great was a distinct change in their previous timeline. I think future Great was counting on past Tyme to do this with the benefit of hindsight at his disposal.
I think future Great wants to correct the mistake of handling too much on his own, because it's quite clear this is a very isolated and internal character. A lot would have probably been different if he'd opened up to Tyme sooner and made better choices. Given Tyme is also suffering the consequences of the choices made, I really do think future Great is making himself miserably horny using the visions to push his past self into Tyme's path quicker. I think that's why in the clips of the NC scenes we see, particularly the one where Great is riding Tyme, we see his sex face during the exact moment Tyme finally gets it in. I think it's the visions telling him, "Look how great it'll be if you just give in." He's quite literally breaking himself down, which is dark and I love it.
It seems like future Great believes he can protect them both if he puts out sooner, is basically what I'm saying.
This is a truly blessed year for BL.

Exactly. And I was crying so much.
Ok the sun and the star is cringe (in a βthis is definitely written for middle schoolers and not for meβ way), but it is also very endearing. The idea of slowly unraveling the strings of pain, heartache, anger, isolation and grief that youβve wound deep in your chest after enduring so much trauma and figuring out the balance of light and dark that can and does coincide within you and the the realization that you do not have to carry the weight of all of it alone is just β¦ excruciatingly beautiful and powerful
