so @beautysnake made a very good post about promoting lgbt+ people that are selling pride gear this year and the notes are a wealth of resources and ive taken it upon myself to provide a detailed, well documented masterpost of things made by and for the lgbt+ community.
i had three criteria while making this and i ask that you follow these outlines as well if you add to this post:
the artist is NOT sketchy/creepy (fetishization, “fujoshi”, and things similar to these things being available on the artists story automatically disqualifies them)
if multiple pride flags are being sold, there MUST be a lesbian flag included. not sapphic, not wlw, but LESBIAN. preferably community, but the original works too
this is the big one, and if you contribute to this list i BEG you to pay attention. lgbt+ people of color deserve to not only be represented and celebrated in our community, but to have their content equally promoted. merch that is made by poc/includes the philadelphia flag will be bolded.
now let’s begin! if ive missed anything, made a mistake, a link doesnt work, or someone nasty passed through the filter, shoot me a message and ill fix it!

I'm in a groupchat with a bunch of queer people and someone made a joke about how dating someone who is in the closet is a terrible idea and everyone kind of laughed and agreed without discussing it more. Is that really a thing? I've been dating the same girl for almost a year and she's in the closet, and it hasn't really affected our relationship, but now I'm nervous
no it’s not a thing, and it’s a shitty joke to make, but people make it a lot. they usually mean it in the usual, “haha closeted people are ashamed of being lgbt/closeted people hate themselves/they’re scared to be seen in public on a date/you have to pretend to be just friends” way, which is infuriating. closeted gay/trans people aren’t necessarily self loathing or ashamed, and even if they are, those traits aren’t exclusive to closeted people, and considering that most of us have been closeted at some point or another, we should be able to fucking empathize with people who have to do that all the time.
we all know why closeted people are closeted. it’s because homophobia/transphobia is alive and real and has dire fucking consequences for a lot of us. no one, esp other lgbt people who know both the consequences of being out and the consequences of being closeted, should ostracize or belittle those who aren’t ready or able to come out.
I’ve been seeing a lot of anti-Nazi ones, which is great, but I felt like we needed one to show our support for the Jewish community.
Not to be gay but my girlfriend is so amazing and makes me so happy
Google BetaBooks. Do it now. It’s the best damn thing EVER.
You just upload your manuscript, write out some questions for your beta readers to answer in each chapter, and invite readers to check out your book!
It’s SO easy!
You can even track your readers! It tells you when they last read, and what chapter they read!
Your beta readers can even highlight and react to the text!!!
There’s also this thing where you can search the website for available readers best suited for YOUR book!
Seriously guys, BetaBooks is the most useful website in the whole world when it comes to beta reading, and… IT’S FREE.
I love how basically all gays did the same thing where we realize we like someone of the same gender and just go “yeah we’re not gonna think about that. I’ll just deal with that later” like name another community that is so universally filled with procrastinators
when oscar wilde wrote “there are moments when one has to choose between living one’s own life, fully, entirely, completely-or dragging out some false, shallow, degrading existence that the world in its hypocrisy demands” i felt that
When you die, your atoms are reborn into something new, meaning that we’re all made of bodies of the past
I do refer to myself as being gay, sapphic, and wlw, but I am a lesbian first and foremost and above all else. No, you are not wrong in calling me gay, calling me sapphic, or calling me a woman-loving-woman, but do not be afraid to use the word “lesbian”. It’s a beautiful word, full of rich history and culture, and it is a symbol of the countless struggles of women who just wanted to love who they loved. So do not shy away from calling a lesbian a lesbian. That is what we are.
