Barbie being an eldritch terror wasn’t on my bingo card for 2023 but let’s fucking gooo
Princess Leia has a history of floating magically and yes love that very much for her
The only accurate versions of Batman are stinky lil sad boy emo bruce who listens to nirvanna in the dark and applies eyeliner without a mirror, and super dilf Bruce Wayne who adopts 12 new orphans a day.
That will be all.
Suzanne is not fucking around anymore. This book is about so many things but the thing that stuck out most to me was the rage I think dominates this prequel more than any other book in the series.
When the news came out a book about Haymitch was coming after years of fan requests (and a film to be developed in tandem) I’ll admit, I had my doubts.
But what Collins delivers is more brutal a gut punch than I think even the most hard core fans of this series were anticipating. In the wake of political unrest across the US and world wide, in an era of disinformation, she tells the reader clearly to look and think for themselves, and shows the atrocities that can come when we do not.
This book is about anger and injustice and it does not try to convince its reader otherwise. At times you can feel Collins shaking the reader by the shoulders: ‘See?! See what happens when you blindly accept what they tell you? See what you let them take?’.
Fans familiar with Haymitch will not be surprised by a lot of the major beats of this story but the focus on propaganda still leads to some interesting reveals. This is the goriest of Collins series and in many ways I think will be the hardest to adapt, perhaps her own rebellion against the industry that continues to profit off her work and contort her message
Love the darth plagueis reveal because it’s 100% giving the energy of your roommate has a date over and you’re peeking out of your room to see if it’s safe to use the kitchen yet
Wishing a very lovely day to all you gals, guys, non binary folks, ravens who sound like patton Oswalt, anthropomorphic manifestations of words that begin with D, emotionally tormented bisexual exorcists, diner lesbians, boys with mummy issues, boys with daddy issues, girls with both, random medieval peasants who live forever and hang out at the local pub, human personifications of a meadow, and a literal nightmare dressed like a daydream
Rating every season of Community:
Season 1: lots of iconic moments, Troy and Abeds rendition of somewhere out there combined with Chang’s chaotic dancing and the deans Dalmatian fetish, but overall not nearly as unhinged as later seasons 7/10
Season 2: HELL YES, do I need to say anything further than the paintball episodes, the zombie outbreak ABBA extravaganza and what has to be the best Christmas episode. This season also gets points for the development of the group dynamic from season 1 9.5/10 (Virtually perfect but I don’t love the episode where Pierce gets swindled by a moist towelette heiress only for the two of them to bond over their racism🤢)
Season 3: I’m so biased because this is easily my favourite season but I mean come on- REMEDIAL CHAOS THEORY- the darkest timeline, the iconic evolution of Chang from security guard to war lord. This season also has the most character development with Troy’s whole messiah arc and his conflict with Abed in pillows and blankets. This is the only season where I feel like the characters learn from their mistakes and it ends in such a good place with the group all moving on with their lives 10/10
Season 4: this is literally referred to as the gas leak year, Dan Harmon wasn’t there, ‘nuff said 2/10 (and only because I like the die hard episode)
Season 5: a return to form from the gas leak year but the second half kind of falls apart after Troy leaves. Some iconic episodes like the ass crack bandit and the lie detector test after Pierce dies. The final episode with Troy also nails the departure of Donald glover from the show and it’s genuinely heartbreaking to watch him and Abed say goodbye. Pretty good but not my favourite 6/10
Season 6: six seasons and a movie is half true already so keep manifesting everyone. I love the introduction of Frankie she is easily the most underrated character on the show love the fact she is presented as being so rational and grounded but she is just as weird as the rest of the gang. This was a solid season with good stories and a perfect ending to the show. Only thing that could have made it better is if Troy came back. 8/10
This has definitely been pitched before, but petition for a remake of les miserables where everyone is a muppet except Javert
Antler Queen/Final Boss is Tai
I feel like this makes perfect sense and is not talked about at all. Tai’s dark persona taking over is really being hinted at this season and it makes sense that the girls will go for that after Shauna (inevitably) goes off the rails and ruins their chance to go home.
It’s even hinted at in the final image of the title sequence plus the wilderness is always giving her stuff (Van getting better, Tai is the most successful of all the girls to come home). I feel like the creepy man she sees everywhere is this dark persona that takes over her and the show is building up to her finally giving in to it.
