so I just watched Cash is alive's video on Nikolai (they are literally amazing btw, I love their interpretations), and the video finally got me thinking ('cause I'm slow asf like that):
Nikolai knows that Fyodor uses him. Fyodor used Nikolai to leave Meursalt, leaving the latter under the impression that he died. Now, would Nikolai be mad that his emotions were played with? That Fyodor made him believe that Nikolai lost the only person that 'understood' him? I mean, it's not Fyodor wouldn't have known that he'd toy with Nikolai's feelings by pulling the act---like, he's smart asf.
So, rationally he should be mad. But he could also be in awe. Surprised, with the fact that there is a chance he could never truly escape and be free. So, what would that entail for Fyodor?
First of all, Fyodor isn't at any disadvantage in the manga as of yet. We know Akutagawa will eventually pop off (perhaps with Atsushi, now that he really hates Fyodor for taking his friends away), which will probably happen in the February chapter. That could result in Fyodor being in major trouble; he has aminogozen (or whatever his name is) but if that thing's defeated, Fyodor's kinda fucked? Or not, because of his ability but he can be somewhat physically restrained or something (WHERE THE FUCK IS DAZAI).
Here, could Nikolai finally come into play? Using his teleportation thingie (i know it has a cap and it's like. Barely been a few hours since the shit went down or something. Would it be enough for Nikolai to be there?) and then finally we'd see the effect of Fyodor on Nikolai. Would Nikolai be on his side, support him, 'save' him from shin soukoku? Or would he finally break?
Honestly, so interesting to think about. Before Dazai and Chuuya join the battlefield, I'm sure they should have some dialogue with Sigma, where Fyodor's memories are mentioned. Then the brain storming or whatever would begin, and they'd try to get to Yokohama ASAP (because, again, Dazai's ability and that it is only him that Fyodor can't affect.)
But because of this, obviously Dazai and Chuuya won't be joining in. So we naturally have Nikolai, which was the topic of discussion (sorry I'm rambling I'm shit at this analysing thing).
Asagiri could take this two ways. Either make Nikolai even more obsessed with Fyodor because of realising he still cares about Fyodor, or make Nikolai break the chain and turn on him.
Everything I've said is inspired by the video, and I really urge everyone to watch it! All in all, I am so excited for the new manga chapter coming soon.

I just realised I forgot to cross post on Tumblr, so here it is!! a paedyn/kai canon divergence fic :))
I’m not sure if I’ve ever posted my Dazai desi mayoi edits here but here we go!!
(Friendly reminder that I hc him as half-Japanese, half -Indian!!)
plans changed I decided to finish this instead of studying :D
is herlock sholmes related to the gavins or do I just think all blond men look alike
sooo there are some STRONG opinions on a whole lotta characters from what I've observed (on Tumblr atleast) in acotar. I wanna share my two cents on tamlin vs rhysand first
ohh boy. tamlin definitely had a character assassination after the first book.
let's understand the 'caging feyre for her "protection"' thing. now, was tamlin right in doing this? FUCK no. feyre has always been a fighter, not standing on the sidelines, and the way tamlin didn't include her in whatever work made my blood BOIL.
paralleling Rhys; there were so so many instances where he, too, was overprotective over feyre. the thing is, I think his character was somewhat redeemed after the end of the last book. that conversation with Nesta was amazing, then the whole thing with supplying decor and whatnot for the ceremony---that's great
also the amount that Rhys hates tamlin is crazy?? tamlin was the reason he was still alive, although that was for feyre and her 'happiness', as he called it, but he didn't have to
now, tamlin; he definitely got consequences for his actions too.. but like, way too many consequences. he definitely fucked up siding with the king of hybern and in turn making feyre's sisters convert to high fae, but he still betrayed hybern in the war, and also while protecting feyre when she went to rescue elain. like, that should have earned him a lot more sympathy than it did in the books
a thing; I see people using the 'when tamlin went after feyre under the mountain, he tried to hook up with her instead of trying to run away' as a way to saw how tamlin didn't really love her? or something, and to that I'm like. WHAT. amarantha would have obviously realised, and the whole POINT of tamlin ignoring feyre while she did the challenges or whatever was to feign no interest to amarantha. if they would have been caught, tamlin's whole plan would have been for waste.
butttttt I will say this: during the discussion of the high lords before the attack, when tamlin barged in, he was way too aggressive and insulted feyre and NUH UH, HOW DARE YOU???
but that's the thing; tamlin did bad things and he got his consequences, courtesy of feyre herself. but in the end, tamlin lost everything (maybe not Lucien?) and I don't think that was fair
ah well. I don't think I'll be able to formulate a direct opinion whether I'm anti-tamlin or anti-rhys, and I think that is the most beautiful part of the whole story; why? because it shows everyone is flawed in their own way, and when they make mistakes, consequences come.
thank you for reading my unnecessarily long character study after a bing reading session of the 4th part of the last book; can't WAIT to hop over to ao3 for some fics ;))
I FEEL SO ABSOLUTELY CHEATED I WISH WE GOT TO EITHER BREAK KRISTOPH'S LOCKS OR MOOD MATRIX HIM!
