Fashionable Boy Killua as a lofi hip hop background for a mv.
Killua Zoldyck mood board
Mountain Boy
killlua could’ve easily been a boring stoic edgelord who thinks friendship is stupid given his background as an assassin but he’s really one of the sweetest good boys ever i’m??????
In which way did the 2011 anime screwed Gon and Killua characteristics?? I didn't read the manga so this got me rly curious, i thought that the anime followed the manga pretty strictly ( aside from the Kite thing )
No worries, anon, I gotchu!
What I feel 2011 did was take scenes out of the manga but changed Gon & Killua’s personalities (while also leaving out v. important scenes in the beginning such as Gon meeting Kite, and Ging not actually abandoning Gon). Gon is portrayed more “innocent and kind” in the anime vs. being mouthy, sassy and a bit more introverted like he is in the manga. A great example of this is:
And! Gon was 1000% about Killua (2011, again, left out a bunch of scenes where Gon insistently worried over him):
(This is only a few that I had saved on my desktop.)
I also do not like how they changed Mito to fit the more “motherly” role when she lied, drank and tried manipulating Gon in the very first chapter. (more here) And how she took Gon away from Ging and lead Gon to believe he was abandoned when she’d actually fought Ging in court for custody.
Then there’s Killua–who is kind-hearted, sassy, talkative and more outgoing than 2011 portrayed him as. It’s almost like they manipulated the characters to fit the “kind kid befriends the sad, white-haired loner” stereotype when Togashi is literally the destroyer of all anime stereotypes. They also took out a lot of scenes/dialogue to Gon and Killua’s friendship whereas ‘99 kept them all but added hella filler (and even though Killua is a bit more “darker” in ‘99, i think they stayed v. much IC).
If interested, you can read @lyraklaude‘s meta on Killua possibly being an extrovert vs. introvert here. (I v. much agree with this.) I also have a bunch of manga!killua caps floating around here somewhere–i’ll try to find them and then reblog with links!
I do love all the posts talking about how lovely and wonderful Leorio is, don’t get me wrong
But he’s technically not the weakest in the group. The 2011 anime just made him look that way
In terms of combat ability, yeah he’s probably the weakest. He hasn’t really used his Nen in a full on battle so who knows.
But the 2011 downplayed his natural strength a lot, which makes me sad.
In the manga (and in the 1999 anime technically), they talk a lot about his physical strength as much as his emotional strength.
During the Zoldyck Arc, he actually opened the Testing Gate by himself before anyone else after training for two weeks
And later on it’s mentioned that when everyone opened the Testing Gate on their own, Leorio was strong enough to move two of the gates
Weakest in combat skills? Probably. Weakest character of the main four? Certainly not. Leorio is a beast
